Introducing Thematic Blog Cup Nominations 2007-09-24 05:51:02 During this weekend we set up two new nomination pages. This means we will run some more targeted Blog Cup competitions in the future.
At SEO/Marketing Blog Cup Nominations you can nominate your favourite blog intended for SEO/Marketing oriented public. Start of Voting for this Blog Cup is expected in November. It will be interesting to see the ability of attracting people to vote for them by SEO/Marketing specialists themselves.
In December, when demand for them is the greatest, we will be hosting an E-Cards Blog Cup competition. You can nominate your favourite blogs that are hosting e-card related topics here.
If you have an idea for a new Thematic Blog Cup, feel free to contact us directly. We would not like to host too many Blog Cups simultaneously as it could devalue Blog Cup Trophy, so please be patient if your proposed Thematic Blog Cup will be scheduled for next year.

Gawker with 4 out of 32 entries 2007-09-22 12:10:10 After thorough “inspection” of blogs that are featuring in our 1st International Blog Cup (voting starts on 1st of October), I found out that there are 4 blogs that seemed very “connected”. It turns out that Gawker media group will have 4 blogs (Gizmodo, Kotaku, Gawker, Consumerist) competing in Blog Cup this October. It is also interesting that there is a pairing already in the first round that includes two Gawker’s blogs - Gawker.com vs. Consumerist.com. So they have practically guaranted a spot among top 16 blogs already.
On the other side it looks like Peter Andre Jensen’s Blog will have an easy job in the first round as the Persian Blog seems to be down at the moment. If anyone knows what happened to Persian Blog, please let us know.
Just to remind you - there is only 9 days left to the start of 1st International Blog Cup.

After first day of voting 2007-10-02 13:12:17 The 1st International Blog Cup finally started yesterday and you were able to cast your votes. After a few minor troubles in the first hour of voting everything seems to work ok for now. But since we cannot speak about enormous traffic :), we should wait and see how the system performs under some heavier load. It doesn’t seem appropriate to speak about favourites after first day of voting since only a small number of people voted for their favourite blogs. We also noticed that most people are voting just for their own (i.e. a single blog). It is allowed and you are encouraged to vote for other top blogs also. After all it is also possible to “vote against” blogs you think will be dangerous to meet in the later stages of this knock-out based competition. Nobody can tell you that you mustn’t do that, although it would be fair to vote for blogs based on their quality.
After all you are here to choose the ultimate blog that deserves the 1st International Blog Cup Wi
Warming up the fans 2007-09-30 13:59:11 It has been a week since all the participants in the 1st International Blog Cup have been informed that their blog will be competing in the 1st ever Blog Cup competition. There are only a few of them that have acctually published this information on their blogs. But as we are speaking about 32 Top Blogs according to Technorati’s stats we have to admit that we really didn’t expect that the “Big Blogs” will be too interested into our Blog Cup. However there were a few of them who took our competition serious and are suddenly the top favourites to win it. In the last week we noticed that 7% of our traffic was coming from Norway (excluding .coms and .nets this is by far the largest number of visitors by country). And practically all of them were visitors from Peter Andre’s Blog. It looks like he did his homework perfectly and it makes his blog a top favourite to win the cup at the end of the month.
Don’t forget - it’s only 12 hours to the beginning

Another Surprise 2007-10-15 14:02:42 It all looked set for ProBlogger to win the 1st International Blog Cup competition, but as it looks like this will not happen. It looks like we will have to wait at least until the 2nd IBC to see ProBlogger winning the competition as Darren from ProBlogger decided to withdraw his blog from IBC. You can read more in his update to his initial post on IBC.
I really regret that he will not compete anymore, but I will respect his wish to withdraw ProBlogger from the 1st IBC. There are still a few nomination places for 2nd IBC, so you can still nominate ProBlogger if you like it and think that it should win the competition.
You can still see and vote for Darren’s blog (I dind’t think of withdrawals when creating the website:), but it will be replaced by Peter Andre’s blog even in case it gets more votes.

Nice Surprise 2007-10-14 05:07:23 It has been a long night for me as I got married yesterday, but it was really nice to see a recent visitor explosion to iBlogCup.com this morning. As you might have seen - ProBlogger is sending a huge amount of new iBlogCup fans our way and I would like to thank him and of course all other blogs (especially Peter Andre’s blog who is up against ProBlogger in this round) for helping IBC to become a comeptition that every blogger would like to win.
It is also nice to see that voters from ProBlogger seem to vote for other blogs they like, too. I just hope that all other blogs, remaining in the competition, will join the campaign of promoting the IBC as this would make the finals rounds really interesting.
Among comments on Darren’s IBC post I noticed a reader’s comment going like this: “This is a wonderful idea, but poorly managed and under developed, I think.”
I have to completely agree here. IBC is far from some good looking professional website at the momen Read more:Surprise
International Blog Cup - Quarter Finals Report 2007-10-10 04:43:16 After another short round of voting we have the new winners that managed to fight it through to the Quarter Finals of International
Blog Cup. As you can see below it was interesting round again with slightly more votes than in the first round. We had only one case where earlier nominated blog advanced, although both (PerezHilton and Seth’s Blog) had the same number of votes.
You can see detailed results and vote for Round 3 pairs at 1stIBC Page.

Only 16 Blogs Left 2007-10-05 05:02:22 After some minor troubles just after midnight, 1st International Blog Cup is running smoothly again. We are already in the second round and there are only 16 top blogs left. Unfortunately there were 3 situations where both blogs had the same number of votes and the highest seeded blog advanced to the second round. This way Gizmodo, Ars Technica and ProBlogger were promoted, while Techcrunch, Mashable! and Think Progress were lower placed on the nominations list and will have to try winning the Blug Cup next time. The highest number of votes was achieved by Read/Write Web and Peter Andre Jensen’s Blog.
As already said there are 16 blogs competing in the second round of IBC competition. Here is a list of blogs that managed to survive the first round:
Don’t forget to vote and/or nominate your favourites for 2nd IBC or some of Thematic Blog Cups!

Changes at iBlogCup.com 2007-10-19 16:27:08 We have done some development on iBlogCup.com page lately. First of all - the voting system was corrected so that it is not possible to accidentally link visitors to directly vote for some blog. Another change was that we no longer accept E-Cards Blog Cup nominations as there was very little interest in this tematic Blog Cup nominations. Therefore we moved already nominated blogs to general IBC nominations and will be competing in the 2nd and 3rd IBC (November and December 2007).
As it all looks like we will hold our first thematic Blog Cup in December, because there is not enough entrants to hold the SEO/Marketing bloggers competition already in November.
You might have already noticed that it is already possible to see the entrants of the 2nd IBC at http://iBlogCup.com/blogCup2/main.php.
Semi-finals of the 1st IBC are still not over. It seems it will be very tight between Peterandrej and Read/WriteBlog. So don’t forget to vote for your favourites.

Peterandrej vs. ReadWriteWeb
Don’t forget to vote and nominate your blogs for the 2nd International Blog Cup that starts in November!

We have a winner of 1st IBC 2007-10-28 07:56:35 First of all I have to apologise that there were no posts lately - especially because it was the final week of the competition. I didn’t and still won’t have a decent Internet connection for the following week, but as it looks like IBC can run on “auto-pilot” very well :)
Congratulations to the 1st winner
of IBC - Peter Andre and his blog! Number of votes shows that I was not actively promoting the competition in the last week. It was also evident during the whole 1st IBC that there were only the major blogs competing as they were not interested or were not able to inform their readers that they are competing in the IBC.
I expect higher number of votes and more interesting competition as a whole during the 2nd IBC that will start in a few days.
Thanks to everyone who voted again!

2nd International Blog Cup 2007-11-02 14:58:20 After successfully completing the 1st International
Blog Cup (IBC), the 2nd IBC just started and is ready after a few minor problems that were solved today. I apologise to all of the people who couldn’t vote yesterday. Everything works now and the voting can start.
This month we have a lot of private blogs competing in contrast to 1st IBC where most of the blogs were huge corporate blogs who didn’t care too much about the competition. I hope the 2nd IBC will be much more interesting.
You can proceed directly to voting page by following this link: http://iblogcup.com/blogCup2/main.php.

2nd Round of 2nd IBC 2007-11-06 02:38:26 After an interesting initial round of voting, we entered a 2nd round of 2nd International Blog Cup. As it looks like, we will see a tough battle between Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heats Club Soda and The Green Fingered Photographer, that both made a good promotion of their participation in IBC. Another blog with a lot of support is Ades Blog who will have to wait a round or two for tougher opposition as it looks like at the moment.
Don’t forget to vote for and/or nominate your favourite blogs!

First Disqualifications 2007-11-04 11:21:44 As I already mentioned in the FAQ section of iBlogCup.com, voting through proxies will not be tolerated at IBC. It is not acceptable that someone gets over 15 votes in a matter of minutes through open proxy servers, and not even mentioning his/her involvement in the IBC competition on the blog.
Therefore we were forced to disqualify three blogs. Let’s hope this will be enough to discourage that kind of behaviour in the future.

Quarter finals of the 2nd IBC 2007-11-11 05:28:27 We have 8 quarter finalists in the 3rd round of the 2nd International Blog Cup. The second round turned out to be very interesting with almost half of results being tied (see the results here). This just points out that it is important to nominate your blog as soon as possible for a new competition.
So don’t wait too long as you can still nominate your (favourite) blogs for the 3rd IBC starting in December!

Improved Proxy Detection for IBC 2007-11-08 12:52:14 We are glad to inform you that iBlogCup.com is now using XIP proxy detection system for automatic blocking of proxy server voting. Thanks to guys at DEVELOPERA.COM!
This way we will not need to disqualify people by hand anymore. There was also a problem of deliberately voting through proxies for your opponent, just to get him/her disqualified that is now solved.
Happy voting!

Semi-finals of 2nd IBC 2007-11-16 04:08:50 We had a very exciting quarter-finals
during the last week. One of the most interesting voting battles was the one including Ades Blog and Reverse Turkey where Ades managed to get a win after Reverse Turkey was already leading during the last days of voting. You can read more in the following post on Ades Blog that is also the most responsible for the sudden turn and overtaking of Reverse Turkey during the last day of voting.
You can vote for the final 4 blogs here.
Don’t forget to nominate your blogs for the 3rd IBC that will start in December!

Final Two Blogs Left 2007-11-22 07:16:04 We arrived to the Final
of the 2nd International Blog Cup with only two blogs remaining. Ades Blog, a big favourite (at least for myself) until the Semi-Finals, was outvoted by Pointless Banter who enjoyed constant support from myspace.com based fans. This way we have two “icanhascheezburger” type of blogs in the Final.
You can expect some minor changes in December edition of IBC as we will be changing the voting page and voting dates structure a little bit in the coming days. More info on this will follow here.
Let the best blog win!

3rd International Blog Cup 2007-12-03 04:44:35 3rd IBC just started on 1st of December. According to number of votes in the first two days almost all participants took the competition very seriously in contrast to the 1st IBC. You can vote for your favourite blogs here.
Also the 2nd IBC was a big success with number of visitors increasing by 50% in comparison to the 1st IBC competition. The ads revenue was still very low so we cannot offer any prize money yet, but all the money from ads is being collected in the fund for prizes. If there is any marketing expert or a company who would like to help in collecting prize fund money for IBC competitions, please contact me.

Pointless Banter Attacks On The Last Day 2007-11-28 02:53:45 Congratulations to Pointless
Banter for winning the 2nd International Blog Cup!
It was won on the last day of voting when it all looked set for Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Soda’s win. We could also say the cup was won in the last few hours of the day (see bandwidth chart below). Kevin showed once again that he has a strong base of supporters from MySpace.com and as you can see, most of his voters started voting just five hours before the end of voting.
Congratulations to both finalists again and good luck to everybody competing in the 3rd International Blog Cup that will start on 1st of December!
