it’s 9:50 AM. at 10:00 AM, I should be sitting in a room, across someon. at 10:00 AM, i should be talking to the interviewer, talking about my commitments, my experience. but it’s not 10:00 AM. it’s 9:50 AM.
i had taken the bus this morning instead of driving. arriving at xxx congress, i did not realize the firm was at xxx south congress. meaning, it was past town lake. for those of you that don’t know austin, congress and south congress are the same street. meaning there’s two xxx’s on the same street. but.. depending on which side of the town/downtown you are on, one is south and one… is not.
about 30 minutes before, i had hopped on a bus without knowing where i was going, but allotting extra time for delays. arriving at 515 congress around 9:40 i smile happily, thinking was i on time. i walked into the building and looked for suite xxx. wandering around and around, i caught the securit
an established management company. 2007-09-14 01:19:37 so today, a very nice upper-end/established management consulting firm came to speak. and to be honest, of course they pitched.
they were so great in this, so great in that.. so great here. so great there.. and… okay.. i know. seriously… the room was packed for a reason. everyone knows that the company
was freaking badass.
however…. i really do think.. that instead of all the good shit, i need to know some of the faults… so i asked the question. yep… the question..
so we all know the great opportunities and strengths [said firm] has, but tell me what is the greatest weakness?
the guy.. taken aback… kinda dodged my answer.. “well.. i’d say a disadvantage of [said firm] is that you have to work long hours.”
honestly though… i didn’t really expect an answer. but the guy added on, saying how if a person worked over 65 hours, they would be flagged and talked to because no one should work over 65 hours.

stu org boat party 2007-09-09 20:26:32 at the party, all i could think about was how last year, when a ton of freshmen joined the organization, they all came with very well defined and responsible personas. many of them became student leaders and have now been working for and contributing to the organization. but i look at this year’s freshmen in disgust. half the girls are skanks, downright hoes. and half the guys? tattooes of random chinese over their backs, gold chains around the neck, gucci belts, and a slicked back hair. some of them even smoke. i’m talking about your certified wannabe badass. great. and he joins an organization trying to bring professional back.
and on responsibility, i seriously don’t know whether or not i hope he gets into a car crash. i pray for it so he learns his god damn fucking lesson. don’t drive like a shithead. i pray against it because i’m scared of who else might get hurt because of him. he fucking drives like he’s racing. claiming he’s a safe driv

hypocritical honors 2007-10-10 21:49:55 let me preface this with a single statement in that i hate the program at our school known as business honors.
why? it is (while wrong to act on stereotypes, it is not so wrong to profile) around 75% full of useless dips. what do i mean? well you’ll actually have to get to know the people to believe this but most of the people in this “prestigious” program (mind you, the rating has fallen every year from the top ten in the nation to god only knows) take an officer position and then don’t do the work. to give more credit to this program’s challenges and thereby reasons to possibly surmise its respectability is the fact that many classes are 50% As and 50% Bs. wow, throw in grade inflation like harvard’s and what do you have? obviously a harvard… or maybe not? i will have to say however, the classes are more challenging, but not because they have better profs, which is debatable, but rather the teaching style.

unethical to the max? 2007-10-04 00:45:58 soooo.. i was surfing accessUT with a friend of mine, trying to help the friend get a job… and… guess what? =]. i notice a company that gave me an offer on wednesday? (the very one i wrote the post on) put up another post. and … what? did they really just… okay…. here we go.
1) i had an offer from another firm… firm A? was interview with three others (B, C, and D), one of them being this firm D. well… firm A made me an offer. I really liked firm B the most (and oh we’ll get into this one) but firm D was a close follow up. well.. let me dive in. firm A made me an offer. firm D knew. they said… oh we could get back to you in time. and then… did not. but i turned down A in hopes for D. and… while waiting for D, the next day they mentioned they needed an extra week. i said fine, as i was now without offers. so anyways.. a week goes by and no response? two days past the second deadline, i sent a follow-up email. and
unethical to the max, part 2 2007-10-04 00:45:18 okay, so i’m writing quickly and messily? because i don’t care, just want to throw it out out here. so check this. last semester i applied for an internship at a firm and.. well.. things didn’t work out. because it was based on schedule, i understood. anyways, in preparation for fall (yes, this semester), i emailed them ahead of time and i planned out my schedule (i actually did) so it could perfectly fit. wellllllll… okay sooo.. not spring of sophomore year… so then summer? well not for summer because i had accepted mercer and could not interview/apply. so fall comes around and i apply.
okay great. soo.. not even an interview. got a phone call though… trying to dissuade me from what i applied. are you serious? the reasoning was that it had been filled. i said fine, what about this one (they had two positions of interest to me). they mentioned they were looking fairly hard on the technical and i said np, i had the MIS background. sent a list in. b
