Homeschooling Children With Special Needs
2007-10-24 07:10:00
NATHHAN National Challenged Homeschoolers Associated Network is a website for Christian parents who are homeschooling special needs children. This site offers many things, including discussion boards, articles, book reviews, support groups, and many other things. One thing of great interest here is that they have their own speech therapy program, Straight Talk, for homeschoolers to purchase at a reasonable price for those who cannot afford therapy or need additional therapy. We have serious considered purchasing this ourselves if and when our insurance no longer provides the therapy our children need.Their goal and purpose, as per their website is as follows:To encourage homeschooling families with special needs children, in ways that glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and equip parents to confidently raise their children with special needs or disabilities.Weblink Wednesday Sponsored by: Valerie @ Just4homeschoolfamilies

It Doesn't Get Better Than This
2007-11-01 08:42:00
Last night I laid in bed holding my husband's hand with my one year old daughter's arm draped over my neck in a hug. I laid there and listened to the quietness of the night knowing the children were all asleep snug in their beds. We are all safe, we live in a comfortable home, all of our needs are met as well as many of our wants. As I rested there in the darkness and prayed and I was overwhelmingly aware of the goodness of God. Our life is not without struggles, trials, stress, and sometimes sadness but the blessings of the Lord are evident. The value of these blessings are immeasurable. God has been and continues to be so good to us and we do not deserve it.Thank you Lord for loving us with an incomprehensible love! For Your grace, mercy, holiness, Your salvation, and for life abundant. Amen

VA Allows God Back Into Flag-Folding Ceremony
2007-11-01 08:00:00
A nationwide uproar has caused the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to "clarify" its position - and allow the mention of God back into the flag-folding ceremony at military funerals.A VA official had pulled the recitation from ceremonies at national cemeteries last month after a single complaint was filed with the White House over the phrase accompanying the 11th fold that mentions "the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob," Fox News reported.READ MORE.....

In Honor Reformation Day......
2007-10-31 08:30:00
October 31, 1517 is the day that Martin Luther, an Augustinian monk, nailed his 95 theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany. In an era when the Gospel had been eclipsed by a system of human merit, Luther and the other reformers were able to remind the people of God that we are declared righteous in the sight of the Lord through faith alone in the person and work of Christ Jesus.Ligonier Ministries is celebrating Reformation Day with a one-day special! On Wednesday, October 31st, buy a hardcover Reformation Study Bible (ESV) for only $15.17.Here's a video with more information on the Reformation Study Bible.

The Colic Cure
2007-10-30 00:01:00
In my experience colic is one of the hardest things to deal with when having a new baby. It is obviously hard on the baby and any parent hates to hear their little ones cry. I remember many a night walking, walking, and walking outside with a crying baby. Nothing would soothe them! Being a nursing mother, I cut out anything and everything that could possibly be gas inducing but to no avail! We tried the drops and even the homeopathic tablets and nothing worked. It wasn't until I had my last baby, number eight that I was told about this miracle natural remedy. I thought, sure one more thing that won't work, but it couldn't hurt to try it. I have wished ever since that someone had told me about this when back when I had my first child. This really is amazing stuff! I would give this to my crying baby and she was sleeping soundly within 5 minutes. It can be used for hiccups and teething also. It is an all natural herbal supplement made with organic ginger and fennel, it also

A Homeschool Mom's Responsibility to Bring Glory to God
2007-10-29 09:36:00
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.Ephesians 6:4Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Scripture is clear in the fact that parents are responsible for the education of their children. As Christian parents we are to do this in a way that brings honor and glory to God. As homeschoolers we all tend to have different methods. Some, like myself, use the classical approach following the Trivium, others like workbooks, some prefer Charlotte Mason, while there are those who like the unschooling approach. As Christians, no matter what our schooling method is, our main goal should be to raise godly Christian adults. This can be a very daunting and often thankless task. Sometimes parents even wond

12 Plus 10 Equals 22 People
2007-10-29 08:44:00
For the last five days we have been blessed to have company. Some dear friends came for their second eldest son's graduation from basic training. These friends of our are the proud parents of 12 children. They were here with 10 children to stay with us. So we had 12 of them total with the 10 of us and it was a great week! Their children are well disciplined and loving children. It really did not seem like that many people. In the past, we have had people stay who had far less children and it seemed like so much more! We had a great time catching up with each other and all of the children had a playmate. It was a difficult good-bye this morning. The Lord has greatly blessed us with kindred spirits, as Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables) would say.

This book allows you to travel story-by-story (about 250 Bible stories) through Bible lands and times from Genesis to Revelation. Discovering things such as how ancient people really lived; the foods they ate, the homes they lived in, the clothes they wore, the work they performed. This book includes:over 400 colorful pages of photographs, drawings, maps, and chartsmore than 100 drawings from objects or monuments of Bible times, over 200 photographs of Bible lands today, photographs of more than 50 archaeological discoveries, scores of reconstructions and diagrams, and dozens of colorful maps.My children love to be able to see a photograph of the area we are learning about. Holy, Holy, Holy
2007-11-03 08:16:00
This week I thought I would share one of my mostfavorite hymns. The words to this hymn werewritten by Reginald Heber in 1826. Heber wrotethis hymn for Trinity Sunday while he was Vicarof Hodnet, Shropshire, England. Tennyson consideredthis hymn to be one of the finest ever written. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty!Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee;Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!God in three persons, blessed Trinity!Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee,Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,Which wert and art and everymore shall be!Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see,Only Thou art holy, there is none beside Thee,Perfect in power, in love, and purity!Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty! All Thy works shall praise Thy name, in earth, and sky, and sea.Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!God in three persons, bles

A Moving Moment
2007-11-02 08:52:00
While I was reading the Bible to my preschoolers the other day the Lord really spoke to my heart. It was not any great new revelation but just a quickening reminder of the great love, grace, and mercy my Lord has had upon me to choose me as His own. I was reading the story of the birth of Christ. More specifically, the pronouncement from the angels to the shepherds that Christ had been born. A host of heavenly beings proclaiming the birth of my Lord and Savior Jesus.Luke 2:8-14 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths a

How Great Thou Art
2007-11-10 09:31:00
Mr. Carl Gustaf Boberg (1859-1940), a Swedish pastor, editor, and member of the Swedish parliament, was enjoying a nice walk when a thunderstorm suddenly appeared. A severe wind began to blow. When the storm ceased, Mr. Boberg looked out over the clear bay. Hearing a church bell in the distance, the words to How Great Thou Art began to form in his heart.O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,Thy power throughout the universe displayed. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,How great Thou art, How great Thou art! When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees. When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeurAnd see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God

Teach Your Children To Forgive
2007-11-08 07:29:00
This seems a basic lesson for us but maybe for others it is not. How many times have you had your children apologize for a wrong they have committed? Many I am sure. One thing we have taught our children is to also name the sin for which they are apologizing. This is an attempt at removing the non -repentance of a simple I'm sorry type of apology or an apology that only says I'm sorry I was caught. We also go a step further. After an apology has been given we ask the one offended to forgive and the forgiven one to say thank you. This may seem trivial to some or just plain unnecessary but I think it is a very important lesson to teach. Children need to learn to be forgiving, sometimes we do not always feel like forgiving one another but it is something that we need to learn to do. People will always disappoint us, we need to have a forgiving spirit.Colossians 3:13b if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must
