Start STRUTTING you STUFF! 2007-09-05 20:38:33 This summer was busy but for all the wrong reasons. that’s usually time for vacations, imposing family visiting the city, old folks dying, etc. the heat in new york didn’t make for any kind of creativity. lots of us around the office just laid around and binged on food, ice cream and other grown folks goodies. but work and production was never too far.
we are starting the end of summer real nice here with the release of Don Davenport’s debut on the label - and it’s the appropriate theme to get us back on track: STRUT. “Come over here and strut your stuff” - a line directly from the lyrics - penned and performed by Don. the official release date on Beatport is the 14th of September 2007. there are no less then 6 remixes coming on this package, from all the crew with the label (VB Heinze, Keith Just, Mista A, Lou Peoples and more).
In addition, Decibel NYC just completed the first music video to accompany one of our releases and yes, it is for ST Read more:Start

Mista A goes Mental… 2007-08-07 17:07:10 After a year of procrastinating like only a Mista A could do, a miraculous event transpired and it went a little something like this:
It all started with a hot and sunny 8 hours of driving, a pound of gelatinous confections and a few choice swear words for all those summer tourist drivers, then I finally made it to the big (and sour) apple, to finally put my new single to bed and reconnect with my peeps, Kevin and Cj in New York City.
Spanish Harlem, a six pack of Big Red and plenty watermelons were all I needed to get the juices cookin’. Under intense pressure and scrutiny, we got the single and the remix package for it wrapped up.
“Mental Health Hotline” is done and in the process I conjured up a little remix for the label’s newest superstar, Don Davenport. A saucy joint aptly titled “Strut“, which I think will slam all those fortunate to hear it on a dance floor.
I was totally blown away to the hear all the new-ies for the upcoming Fall and Winter Read more:hellip
fuze is crazy! 2007-07-20 14:04:28 we just got 2 sick remixes for “Mental Health Hotline” from our main dude in texas: Fuze!
he turned out a real hard swing rework that will please and then please some more. with a dark bassline and demented synthetics. “loco” is always welcome when you are travelling with this pack of loonies..
mental health hotline should be out very soon. with mixes from fuze, undah-dub and mista a, himself!
mista a is struttin it too! 2007-07-19 13:25:56 hailing from ft lauderdale…
mista a has turned in his off-the-hook throwback mix of don davenport’s up-coming “monsterpiece” called “STRUT“. the mix is called “switch vs. mista a remix”.
my original partner in crime is showing us why he is blowing up the circuits these days. meaty, thumpin beats with breakbeat-esque drops and transitions, while the vocal is sprinkled and scattered in all the right ways and places…work it out! work it out!
Do Me In Vinyl baby… 2007-07-07 19:14:00 it’s no secret that i am one of the hard-line dj’s who seriously miss spinning vinyls!
with the digital revolution, i effectively lost a good chunk of my passion for djing. don’t get me wrong: i have not lost my passion for the music and am surrounded by good (actually excellent) house music most of my days. and it’s the good kind.
however, as for the art of spinning those same tracks at a club for a crowd, my heart would really be in it if they were all in vinyl format! i miss the darn black lackered disc&hellip
; it was so tangible; so palpable… i miss touching, prodding, spinning up the vinyl under my steady guiding fingers. i miss that tactile feedback, that sensory response to the vibrations of the needle…
looking back at those wonderful nights spent working the bag of wax till the walls of the club would sweat, i am grateful for having had the chance (and still do occasionally) to “perform” with my bag of records. now before a Read more:Vinyl
Summer Upgrade 2007-06-30 19:08:27 We’ve spent the last month upgrading a lot of the hardware and software here at the label and the studio. first, we added a new laptop, running on Ubuntu 7.04 Fiesty Fawn to start building an alternative DAW system not running on Windows. With the bloat of Vista and IE 7 (what a piece of crap!), we have been looking at another operating system to handle our production work. this linux laptop will join our in-house ubuntu 6.06 server on the office network. more on our experiences learning the ins and outs of Ardour, the open-source sequencer we just installed.
we’ve also just finished putting together a Windows 2000 video production server. the creative minds here have been talking for a while about producing, editing, distributing and streaming our home-made music videos to accompany some of our releases. this new server will serve as the test bed for this new media venture.
finally, we’ve reworked our network topography to better handle live music uploads since Read more:Summer
snocap is sellin it too.. 2007-06-12 17:02:07 more digital distribution from new digital distributor snocap.com, thanks to myspace.com - who now is pushing their new merchandise retail service.
now, everytime you check out our looooovely corner at www.myspace.com/decibelnyc you will have the option of direct purchase… just look at the box below the music player and get a big surprise…better yet, surprise us and buy something!
Check Out These new merchandise… 2007-06-10 19:39:22 in reality, we are testing the waters with these media files to see if you like them and want more of them. as with everything that involves artist and label promotion, we’ll try to satisfy any scratch that you may have for DECNY.
lately, a lot of the artists here have taken pleasure in walking around with their next-generation cell phones set with multi-tonal ringtones based on great loops from our catalog. the biggest culprit is the undah-dub. his t-mobile MDA has a different ringtone from the label catalog’s for every “category” in his phone book. it’s weird, but after a few days, everyone here at the label kinna knows what kind of people are blowing off his cell phones by the ringtones that blare constantly&hellip
; (“you stupid prick… tell me what to do… you stupid prick”, taken from VB Heinze’s “Stupid Prick” usually announces unpleasantness… you get the point).

traxsource.com in the house 2007-06-06 08:49:05 just a word to let the world know that we, at Decibel NYC, have just added the famed Traxsource (www.traxsource.com) to our distribution partner network.
look for all our products and releases to be available there very soon.
1 out of 3 are SPIES… 2007-06-05 19:59:55 as we start the month of june, our new BI (that’s business intelligence) backend software is reaching it’s final stage of implementation. what that means is that we are now able to track in REAL TIME the performance of our each of our releases. which is selling the best per quarter, for the year&hellip
; down to the individual mix!
what all this beefed up web 2.0 backend stuff means in the long run is a better LIVE view that our people can use to know which release does best, needs promotion, where a particular artist does best, down to the region… all this mombo jumbo means that we want to know who does what and how and where so that we can always, at an instant, refocus or re-distribute our energies to a more effective and accurate marketing.
so, who is doing how so far? as of june 1st, Mad Cows’ SPIES has captured the number ONE spot with more then 30% of downloads worldwide since january 1st, 2007, with Alex Celler’s remix out-pacing the others 2 t
Main Site Spring Cleaning 2007-06-01 13:21:59 We have launched an interim update of our official web site (www.decibelnyc.com) to reflect a lot of the suggestions made by our users. The new interface provides a much bigger display area to avoid needless scrolling, a quick links section to quickly bookmark any of our internet properties or to navigate quickly between any of them. A lot of smaller updates, not necessarily obvious, have been woven into the new interface to allow us to scale easily and better server the needs of our fans.
If anything with the new design still leaves you scraching your heads, write your suggestions on a piece of paper and mail it in to us tomorrow! Naaaaah. Just contact us with all your worthy feedback…. (yahhh)

Time to clean those pipes… 2007-05-21 13:17:13 Let’s start with numbers and rankings: Mad Cows‘ SPIES, released at the beginning of May 2007, is on track to surpass all our previous sales numbers of any release to date.
Alex Celler’s mix is by far the most in demand, specially for the groovy house crowd.
After a timid start, The Undah-Dub’s RISE UP is slowly gaining traction and we are seeing the numbers improve weekly. If you like the mixes, pass the information on to your fellow DJs and artists so that they can get acquainted with our catalog.
Onto what’s coming soon: the label office has been filled with the maniacal, twisted, dirty and neurotic sounds of the remixes for Mista A’s MENTAL HEALTH HOTLINE. Breeze surprised us all a week ago by dropping, unexpectedly, his in-progress remix of that track: sheer pandemonium! “Timmy, I told you about playing with those mad cows!” Mista A’s original is such an easily digestable number, while his breaks remix is chunky, rolling an Read more:hellip

In digital and on the radio… 2007-09-18 20:36:13 Late breaking news about one of the label’s owner and artist: The Undah-Dub officially begins is 4-hour weekly live radio show on Netmusique this Wednesday, September 19th, at 2:00 pm CMT and every Wednesday thereafter.
Expect The Undah-Dub to prominently feature some of the latest releases from the label and also some unreleased mixes that are locked tight in the vault. Show some love to Netmusique for always keeping it twisted and electrique on their radio show (they have some of the sickest lineup of electro dj’s spinning or featuring mixes there) and to our artist “Dub” for bringing it hard like the pink elephant in the room. So tune in every Wednesday and ride it out&hellip
