Last it was speculated the there will be one in the end of 2007 but Microsoft want to reach a certain level of quality before bring out their 1st Service Pack for the new Operating System Vista.The SP1 will not bring much more new programmes and tool but have to fix many bugs and problems. So we can home to get a better and more stable system in 2008 with MS Vista.It also have to fix many problems with the 3D-performance - we will see.First they start up with a Beta SP1 (another beata for Microsoft -hehe)

On new mainboards (ATX) is still power at the mainboard even if turn off you PC! I know it but today i was in hurry an wanted to modify somethink inside of my Computer. I open the case make the modification and then unfortunately a screw falls down on the mainboard and hit a point where still was some electricity... ok not for a long time. So if you want to make some modifications on your PC ... don´t hurry and put the power cable out of the computer. I build up computers about 18 years but every time you can lear some new things.

Need a hybrid drive? 2007-09-25 06:46:00 Hmmm, but what is a hybrid drive
? That is a new kind of hard disk - one part is like a usually hard disk and the second part (the new one) is a flash memory. The flash memory should buffer the data during normal use. And if the PC go to the sleep mode the data will be stored there and after the weak up the PC should go to the normal state much faster. OK that is what the manufacturer promise to you but is that really true?I tested it here yesterday. In fact there is not much difference to a normal hard disk but the price!Even the weak up after a sleep mode I can´t see any acceleration. I think the problem is the too small flash memory. Because if you have 1-2GB of RAM and only a 256-512MB flash memory in that disk that is really to small! I guess a 4GB or more flash memory would fix the problem. So we have to wait for the next generation of such hybrid drives.

Turbo PC 386-25 2007-09-23 11:51:00 Don´t worry! That is not the newest top secret Computer. It is only a Sunday afternoon fun. Maybe some of you can still remember. PC with a 386 (SX) CPU - The SX extension means the CPU have no Coprocessor (A special processing unit that assists the CPU in performing certain types of operations. Here a math coprocessor performs mathematical computations, particularly floating-point operations). The main memory 1MB of RAM - No Joke! :) a 16Bit VGA card with 256KB and a huge hard disk with 80MB. The speed of the CPU is 25Mhz, but of course only when the Turbo
button is switched on! And one more thing... the PC have no CD-ROM only a 3,5" Floppy Disk. But it works - with 3 Disk with 1,44MB each I installed the MS-Dos 6.22 ( I think that is the latest version of MS-DOS) A small and fast modification in the config.sys and autoexec.bat and the system is ready (mouse is working) Now further 7 Disk with MS Windows 3.11 :-) - Hey, and it´s pretty fast!
