Directed by Pooja Bhatt, the film, starring Muzamil Ibrahim and Tulip Joshi, was released on Aug 31. It revolves round a Muslim cop whose wife turns out to be a suicide bomber. Also, unlike the rumors which say that the shoot will start next month, this untitled film will go on floors only by next year.
It is learnt that the subject is women-centric and deals with mother and daughter relationship. Hema wanted Revathi to handle this project as she felt that a woman director would be able to relate to the mother-daughter subject better. This will be Revathi’s third directorial venture. I hold a PhD from Cambridge University, UK, and have been a post-doctoral fellow at Yale University (New Haven, USA) and United Nations University (Tokyo, Japan). I worked for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Rome, Nepal and India and have also published articles concerning political ecology in the Economic and Political Weekly of India. But my primary interest lay in cinema. It was while working in Rome for the UN that I took a long sabbatical and came to Delhi to develop a story idea into a film script and that is how Dil Dosti Etc happened.
How easy or difficult was it setting up your first film?
