Halloween History
2007-09-14 16:24:00
History traces Halloween to an ancient religious group known as the Celts.  The Celts worshiped over 300 different gods, each having their own area of control.  Their two main feast days was Beltane and  Samhain, the beginning and the end of summer.  They believed that during the night of Samhain the spirit world would “bleed into” the real world.  In order to fight this they would dress in masks of demons and ghosts in order to blend into the “spirits” that traveled that night.  During Samhain, the supreme night of demonic jubilation, frightened villagers would offer gifts of fruit and nuts to appease the evil, vengeful spirits on their front porch.        As Christianity spread to England the Popes of the church sought to include the local holiday of Samhain into the church in order to gain more converts.  Thus the creation of All Saints day  on the first day of November.  Although this was thought to be a good thing because it drew more folks into t

Is Home-Schooling Better Than Public Education?
2007-09-13 11:20:09
You can sit back and ask this question to yourself, you first have to go and look at the curriculum that home school programs offer versus public schools. Than factor in all the politics that goes on in the schools upper crust society that decide if your kids will learn about the subjects, or learn how to pass the state tests. Let’s look at some of the issues that some parents have when they think of homeschooling.    v      No social interaction with other children.           v      Teacher available to answer questions?              v      What about physical education?         Those are a few concerns that parents have, I know there are more, here’s some information related to those concerns.   v      Think about the kind of socialization experiences you want for your child. Your home schooled child need not be limited to the artificial community of his or her peers that’s offered in the formal school en

Christian
2007-09-12 15:13:35
When you become a Christian , you are a new person.  That doesn’t mean you have to be perfect in the eyes of others.  What it does mean is that you believe in your heart that Jesus died on the cross and rose again and that you want to put your trust in Him by giving Him control of your life.  You should have a desire to want to be like Him and to devote your life to serve Him.  Believe me, your life could not be more fulfilling.  Change only begins with honest repentance.  Then we need to get into God’s Word so that He can show us how He wants us to live.  We have to be willing to want to change.  The truth of God’s Word produces change only when it is allowed to penetrate deep into our hearts.  If we are busy looking at how others live their lives, then we are missing out on how God wants to improve our lives to better serve Him.  There are lots of people who “know” a lot about Jesus, (Bible knowledge), but their heart is not “filled” with Jesus.  There definit

CompTIA Certification
2007-09-10 11:50:28
This week I took the Network + class and plan to take the certification test this Thursday. The class was a week long with network information coming out of my ears by the weeks end. From physical connection types such as Ethernet, Fiber Optic, and Coaxial would be the basics to be the main topics. The speed and distance information flows is important when learning how networks work, There is the OSI Model and it is seven layers. All (Application), People (Presentation), Seem ( Session), To (Transport), Need (Network), Data (Data Link), Processing (Physical), this saying helps me remember the layers of the OSI layer. The protocols, hardware, data flow, all reside in these layers. Go to the Voice Of Bragg Forum to give your input or thoughts on the different Certification s Programs that are out there. Give some of you study hints, tips, and tricks. Come tell everyone when you pass your test or if you need some study material I might be able to lead you to.

Wireless Security
2007-09-09 08:05:02
How secure is your wireless network? Too many times I have turned on my computer and the wireless network connection icon tells me there are available connections. This is an indication that there are wireless networks out there, question is, are they secure. Types Of Wireless Networks • RFID -Radio-Frequency Identification • Infrared/IRDA -line-of-sight low power optical networking. • HomeRF -an older wireless PC networking standard that is rapidly Disappearing. • Bluetooth -wireless networking for connecting peripherals such as printers, PDAs etc., and sometimes used for LAN. • WiFi -IEEE 802.11a, b, g there are other versions; the standard everyone is going to is 54mb of transfer speed. • 1x RTT, 3G and 2.5G cellular technologies Security WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) -uses MAC (Media Access Control) level security to access your wireless network, and does not share an authentication key. When the wireless network has verified that your MAC is allowed on the network th

True Love
2007-09-07 18:25:23
Love is in the air!  I have come to the conclusion that our limited English language can not really grasp the significance of real and true love.  We throw the word around so casually that we have come to believe that we can truly and completely love some one after only knowing them a short time.  We struggle under the Hollywood myth of love at first sight.  My father, the wisest man I have ever known, once said to me that True Love take years to develop.  Furthermore you know that you have finally arrived at true love when you wake next to your mate and despite the hair from the lowest pit of hell and the foulest smelling dragon breath the world has ever known, you still smile and reach to embrace.  As with any kind of truth to get the truth even in Love one must turn to the bible:             I Corinthians 13:4Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not prov

The Seven Wonders of the World
2007-09-05 16:30:17
Junior high school students in Chicago were studying the Seven Wonders of the World . At the end of the lesson, the students were asked to list what they considered to be the Seven Wonders of the World. Though there was some disagreement, the following received the most votes: 1. Egypt ’s Great Pyramids 2. The Taj Mahal in India 3. The Grand Canyon in Arizona 4. The Panama Canal 5. The Empire State Building 6. St. Peter’s Basilica 7. China’s Great Wall While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student, a quiet girl, hadn’t turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The quiet girl replied, “Yes, a little. I couldn’t quite make up my mind because there were so many.” The teacher said, “Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help.”The girl hesitated, then read, “I think the Seven Wonders of the World are: 1. to touch… 2. to taste… 3. to see… 4. to h

Next Election
2007-09-03 03:00:35
40% of Americans claim to be Christians but of that number only about a third actually votes in any given election .  It is every Christian’s responsibility to serve the government that God places over him or her.  We do this in many ways, like not cheating on our taxes, or stopping at the stop sign and not rolling through.  In our country we are blessed with the opportunity to have a say in who leads us.  And yet we would rather watch Law and order then a presidential debate.                         Here is a challenge; name five sports stars.  Now name five of our representatives in congress.  If you don’t vote then don’t complain when the wrong person wins.             I would like to encourage all who read this to be intentional in everything that you do.  Pray for our leaders and then vote for the one that most closely follows God and His views.  If we do this every time we vote then we will not be at fau

Blogging Advice For Parents
2007-09-25 14:48:25
The world has changed for our kids today as the Internet has given them the opportunity to express themselves in the blogging world platform. The days of having three TV stations, and parents telling them to go out and play, because that was the only entertainment they had, is over. They found a way to reach out to the world in many realms in the technological world. For the child who has the interest in expanding his/her horizons in the Blogging forum, here are some safety tips for the parents. Establish rules for online use with your kids and be diligent. Screen what your kids plan to post before they post it. Seemingly innocuous information, such as a school mascot and town photo, could be put together to reveal where the author goes to school. Ask yourself (and instruct your kids to do the same) if you are you comfortable showing any of the content to a stranger. If in doubt, have them take it out. Evaluate the blogging serviceand find out if it offers pri

Speaking the Truth regardless of Insult or Reward
2007-09-22 15:45:11
As summer comes to a close any hopes that the suns warmth will remain on Capital Hill were blown away with the foul winds coming from the Petraeus hearings. The success of the counterinsurgency strategy put into place by General Petraeus, who was put into place by a unanimous vote of Congress, under cut the preconceived mindset of some Members of Congress. What General Petraeus expressed to the American People, through hours of grueling testimony before Congress on Monday and Tuesday had already been demonstrated by President’s visit to Anbar a week earlier. Think about the security issues that must be considered for the movement of an American President into a war zone. The President has to go into a secure location. The last thing America needs is for the President to get shot down in a combat zone. Irreparable harm would be done to the entire war-effort and America ’s position around the world would not recover for years. Yet, President Bush demonstrated that the Surge Strategy

God’s Guidance To Parents
2007-09-19 15:43:34
The goal of all parents is to raise a child who is moral in many different aspects of their lives. As our children continue to develop, our responsibility as parents is to guide them into the way of a Christian centered life. Working towards the goal of our child’s moral excellence will bring both parents together to study the Bible for answers to these questions. Knowing How Telling a child what to do does not mean they automatically know how to do it. When a parent does not give the child moral guidance then the child will go blindly into that direction. During their young years the way we are as parents will tell our children what they are to expect in their years to come. When my son looks up at me with those loving eyes and sees everything I do; how I love on mom, how I treat my friends, how I treat my neighbors, this will show him how to live a moral life. In addition to showing moral behavior you have to instill moral’s into the child by explaining the “whys” and add it

Parenting Gods Way
2007-09-17 14:33:24
This is the first of many articles I will be writing on the subject of parenting God’s way. Everyone who has children or wants them has the desire to be a good parent. How we raise them to grow in all the healthy ways is up to us as parents. Does God want us to spank our children? Does it say in the bible “Spare the rod spoil the child”? As parent’s, there are question’s  that we ask ourselves when it comes to raising our child in a Christ like environment. Starting Points        The Bible gives us instructions for successfully giving our children a clear picture of a Christian moral life. Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction on the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). Training starts with mom and dad living a Christ like moral life. God made us in his image with the capacity to do good deeds. Sometimes when my son starts to act up in the stores I want to do some good deeds to his tail. The feeling of wanting to

WOMANHOOD
2007-10-11 16:09:14
A little sumthin’ sumthin’ to make you laugh today…!    Womanhood     I know what Victoria’s Secret is. The secret is that nobody older than 30 can fit into their stuff.   The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends. Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today. Sometimes I think I understand everything, then I regain consciousness. I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting my pantyhose on fire. Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks two sizes! Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like, “You know, sometimes I just forget to eat.” Now I’ve forgotten my address, my mother’s maiden name, and my keys. But I’ve never forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat. A friend of mine confused her valium with her bir

In Case of Emergency
2007-10-09 01:10:30
We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn’t know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this ” ICE” (In Case of Emergency ) Campaign. The concept of “ICE” is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you n eed to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name “ICE” ( In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones w ith patients, but they didn&rsq

Fathering God’s Way
2007-10-05 17:08:36
As I stand next to the bed the day my son is born I wait to hold him for the first time. He stands before me five years later a great little man. How many times I’ve  looked at him and thought of how time has gone by so fast.  When I drive up from a lond day, here he comes “Dad” is our daily ritual  as I give him a big hug and ask him how his day was and what he did. Being a father is scary, thinking of how I can affect the balance of the lives in the house. Family Love And Trust Have you ever had a phone call of someone you didn’t want to talk to and you told your child to lie and say your not home? How many times do you mention how great mom or dad is? Do the children know how wonderful your family is? By saying these things on a regular basis gives your family some identity. Children feel more secure in a home that they feel is stable.   Papa Bear Loves Mama Bear How will your children react to a mom or dad who does not share a loving spirit to each other? Will the
