Bait Container 2007-09-06 16:11:00 I found that if you use an out-of-water bait bucket then insulated works best, no matter what you want to stay alive.I found a certain bait bucket and purchased it at Sports Authority, and I love it.Its insulated and its got a lining in it to let crabs or shrimp crawl up the wall, which makes them stay alive even longer! Here is the link to this bait bucket. (This is a 4 gallon one they sell bigger ones if you need bigger.) Click HERE for the link. Read more:Container

Just a couple more little tips. 2007-08-25 14:35:00 Here are a few more helpful tips.1. Make sure you wash off your rod and reel with fresh water after your done fishing. This helps your rod from rusting. It also helps your reel to stay in good shape.2. If you are fishing at a beach, or somewhere where saltwater is easily accessible, and if you keep your bait bucket out of water be sure to change out your water from time to time. This helps keep what ever you want alive, stay alive.3. If you put Green Backs in an out-of-water bait bucket, make sure they are alive. Because if they die, anything else that is in there will die too. This is because when a Green Back dies it releases a toxin into the water that can kill anything else that is in there. If there is any question you would like answered, please post it and I will get to it a.s.a.pYour questions are important. -Thanks,Alex Read more:little

Just a few tips. 2007-08-24 18:03:00 Here are a few helpful tips I have found out.# 1. The best time to fish is 1 hour before and after a tide.# 2. Cut mullet is always good for bait. Almost anything will bite on it.# 3. If fishing for Sheepshead, try in the winter months, they always bite for me.# 4. If fishing for Tarpon, go to a local bridge or anyplace where there is pilings at night.if you want other facts, post that you would like some more, and i will post more a.s.a.p (i have a bunch)
More tips. 2007-09-28 07:32:00 Knowing how to “read” the water is never more important than it is right now. Actually seeing fish may not be an option, as cloudy weather and overcast skies that accompany changing weather reduce your ability to sight-fish. When fishing shallow water, watch ripples that move perpendicular to the direction the wind is blowing as being the constant. Take note of any ripple that is inconsistent what that direction and assume it could be a fish or submerged object that creates the variance. Watch for diving birds, and of course, fish striking bait. Bait schools themselves should be approached as though they are holding fish, because if you find the food, you’ll likely find the diners.

Tips to help you catch 2007-09-22 06:32:00 Weather is an important part of fishing. In the Tampa Bay area and others, tides are affected by wind strength and direction. It’s not enough to just know when predicted high and low tides are. Winds with a southerly component will hold water up higher and longer inside coastal bays, scattering fish and pushing them well into mangrove bushes beyond reach. Our mid-week weather pattern made for strong northeast winds. The predicted low tides were close to mean low, but in Tampa Bay, the strong Nor’easter kept the high from reaching its predicted level and blew water out of the bay more quickly and at levels well below the predicted low. Backcountry areas under those conditions could be dry and you may find fish leaving those areas earlier in the outgoing tide phase. Under those conditions, seek areas at mouths of creeks and cuts early at the change to the outgoing tide and you’ll find fish that are pouring out of the backcountry seeking deeper water.Good luck!

Looking for fish? 2007-09-19 07:33:00 When boating through the open water, always keep an eye out for keys that may indicate a school of fish. First, if you ever see birds that are feeding on small bait fish, there are bound to be large game fish below the surface. Second, look for any floating debris. Nearly everytime you encounter a floating piece of wood that is fairly large, you'll find large game fish in the area. Many times you'll find dolphin fish.

Kingfish Season! 2007-09-15 20:24:00 It’s just around the corner, but not here yet. Kingfish season begins next month, but anglers fishing offshore wrecks should start seeing some kings show on wrecks and reefs that are holding bait. Read more:Season
Tips that might help you catch more. 2007-09-15 20:22:00 Leader material, length, and diameter all play a part in concealing your rig from a wary fish. Fluorocarbon leaders are nearly invisible, so diameter is not the reason for going up or down in pound test. However, the material is somewhat stiff compared to monofilament. The larger the diameter or pound test you use, the more your baits will lose their ability to swim naturally due to the stiffness. Loop knots help, but the right pound test for the structure you’re fishing around and the fish you seek will give you the greatest performance and ultimately help you catch more fish.Good luck!
Fishing for Redfish? 2007-09-15 20:21:00 Redfish continue to be on the scene. Good numbers of fish have been on the outer bars this week in Tampa Bay from Christmas Pass north to the power plant in St. Pete. Weedon Island fishing has been good, as has Big Island, to the north. Reds have been active, and with the new moon earlier in the week, snook fishing took an upward spike. Good action around mangrove points, oyster bars just inside passes and around boat docks was reported by anglers from Sarasota and Bradenton. A little slower bite was experienced in Pinellas. Good luck! Read more:Fishing
Fishing for Trout? 2007-09-15 20:19:00 Some good action on trout in lower Tampa Bay on deep grass and hard bottom was experienced by anglers. At the same time, anglers were jumping some late season tarpon near the Skyway Bridge that weighed from 30-to 100-pounds. Some patches of hard bottom in 10-feet of water, are good places.
