Playback issues in Windows Vista
2007-09-10 03:14:00
We all know that we cannot record and playback simultaneously in Windows Vista (usually with integrated audio). Here is a suggested workaround for this issue. 1) Open "Regedit" (Windows key +R , type regedit)2) Go to Edit -> Find (or Ctrl-F)3) Type "EnableInputMonitor" and click Find (or Find Next)4) Double-click the EnableInputMonitor entry. It will come up as 0000 00. Change the 00 to 01 (so it's 0000 01). Do a Find Next (F3) just to make sure it's the only EnableInputMonitor registry setting on your system5) Exit the Registry Editor and Restart the PC6) Right-click the little default audio device Icon and select "Playback Devices"7) Click "Speakers/Headphones" and then "Properties".8) Under the "Levels" tab, there is now a new option called "Input Monitor", which is muted. Click the speaker to unmute to Input Monitor, and the Line-In port now functions as expected Please let us know if this works

Hot fix for games in Vista
2007-09-10 02:58:00
Microsoft has released two hot fixes for the issues with Direct X 10 Games and Multiple Graphic card usage in Vista . This will probably be more apparent for the gaming people but any game running in Vista may be affected. Virtual address space usage in Windows game development http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105 Systems with large amounts of ram (2GB or more) may actually be affected more than systems with less ram due to this limitation. ( 2 GB+ ram machines are going to see this help a lot more than our basic 512mb machines) When a Direct X 10 application runs on a Windows Vista-based computer that has multiple graphics cards, the computer does not use the secondary graphics card http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936710/

Microsoft BlueScreen Screen Saver
2007-09-28 05:31:00
Microsoft has been famous and criticized for their BlueScreen of Death(BSOD). Most people of Windows 95, 98 era scariest nightmare is they saw BSOD.But since Windows XP, Microsoft has greatly improved their OS and at Vista, I have been using for six months, I have never seen BSOD again. As BSOD become a thing in the past, now Microsoft even made fun of it by releasing BlueScreen Screensaver. First time I know Microsoft has a sense of humor. What's this screensaver?Bluescreen cycles between different Blue Screens and simulated boots every 15 seconds or so. Virtually all the information shown on Bluescreen's BSOD and system start screen is obtained from your system configuration - its accuracy will fool even advanced NT developers. For example, the NT build number, processor revision, loaded drivers and addresses, disk drive characteristics, and memory size are all taken from the system Bluescreen is running on.Use Bluescreen to amaze your friends and scare your enemies!

2007-09-28 05:21:00
If you have no idea what Smorty is, let me give you a brief introduction. Smorty is a blog advertising service connecting advertisers with bloggers. Advertisers can pay bloggers to write opinion posts with links back to the advertisers' site. In other words, Smorty is another pay-per-post, get paid to blog service. As I've already got paid from Smorty, I'll share you all the experience I have with them. They are very quick in reviewing my blog (only 1.5 days). For posts approval, as in their FAQ stated, it won't take more than 5 business days (cool, huh?). For payments? This is the best part of it. They pay weekly via paypal and they are very quick to pay. It would take only 4-7 days to get paid after your post have approved. Even though they are a small, new company, if they keep their good work, I'm sure they will be one of the major income sources for bloggers.Of course, there is some area to improve too. The thing that confused me is their Smorty scoring system. I've got 500 s

Enabling Copy-Paste for Google Office in Firefox
2007-09-25 16:19:00
Firefox has a feature that prevents rich-text editors from using copy, cut and paste. A malicious script could read the content from your clipboard and send it to a server. Your clipboard might contain sensitive information, so you don't want to let every site read the clipboard.Unfortunately, these restrictions make sites like Google Docs & Spreadsheets harder to use, as you can't use options like: copy, cut, paste from the menus and you have to use browser's Edit menu or keyboard shortcuts. If you want to enable these options for this site, you have to:1. Open this file in Notepad:For Windows 2000/XP:C:Documents and Settings[username]Application DataMozillaFirefoxProfiles[profile name]user.jsreplace [username] with your Windows username and [profilename] with the name of your active profile (most likely, the only profile)For other operating systems: see here.2. Enabling right click on sites that disable it
2007-09-25 15:52:00
Lots of web sites have disabled the right click function of the mouse button... it's really, really annoying. This is done so that you don't steal (via right-click->save picture) their photos or images or any other goodies. Unfortunately, it disables ALL right-click functionality: copy, paste, open in new window. It's easy to change, assuming your using IE 6:Click "Tools"->"Internet Options"Click the "Security" tabClick "Custom Level"Scroll down to the "Scripting" sectionSet "Active Scripting" to "disable"Click "Ok" a couple of times. You'll probably want to turn this back to "enable" when your done... 'cause generally the javascript enhances a website.
