Be Warned, Beware! 2007-11-23 00:17:30 If you haven’t noticed this video series, it is about time you do!
The Emerging Church with her brand of 21st Century faith (what in the world is 21st Century faith anyway?) which includes mysticism, eastern philosophies and is a whole load of ecumenical nonsense has, not surprisingly, made its way into our churches.
And if you think that this movement is just now coming into being, think again — pastors, churches, congregations, and even audiences of popular TV and radio shows like Oprah are now being inundated with all the New Age mumbo-jumbo week in week out.

Pink Ribbons That Say I Am Nice 2007-11-22 05:07:08 My dear sister-in-Christ ChannelofHealing gave this to me today and I am so touched by her kind gesture. I am not quite sure if it’s only meant for ladies since many blogs I’ve seen it on are written by women, but I am not sexist, ha ha!
Maybe it’s just because women are nicer in general compared to us men, eh?
The award is given out to “…those bloggers who are nice people; good blog friends and those who inspire good feelings and inspiration. Also for those who are a positive influence on our blogging world.”
Wow, that’s saying a lot in one award.
Thank you, ChannelofHealing, you’ve been an inspiration to me too.

Does Attending Church On Sunday Equate Observing The Shabbat? 2007-11-21 09:56:09 I read an article some time ago (and therefore cannot remember where it was so please let me know if you’re the author), that speaks about how even though many don’t see a difference between observance of the Shabbat
on Saturday or Sunday
, there is indeed a difference.
And I am writing about it tonight because it really got me thinking and seeing how true it is!

Lifted By An Award 2007-12-01 09:11:03 Carol at The Bible Thumper’s Soapbox is such a dear — she has just awarded me the “Lift Him Up” award for my blog, wow!
Thank you very much, Carol, for deeming my blog worthy to receive an award that rewards “… blogs who focus on the Word of God and practical application. These are bloggers who are open and speak honestly about their concerns and/or struggles, who gives us food for thought using Scriptures, and who have a Biblical world view. Their blogs focus on Christ and His perfect, infallible Word.”
Here are some of the blogs I visit often and definitely deserve the award too for their honesty in sharing their lives and how the Lord Jesus Christ works in their lives:
Michael Moore at Living Water for Those Who Thirst. You just have to read his testimony!
Robert Morschel at Mulled Vine. I have been reading Robert’s blog for a good while now, ever since he posted his first entry.

Praise You In The Storm 2007-12-01 05:05:08 This song for Shabbat has a special meaning for me as, with thanksgiving, I seek God’s own Will for me following the episode at work last Friday.
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Hear What The LORD Says, You Who Seek To Divide And Destroy Eretz Yisrael! 2007-11-29 09:34:25 Take heed, you God-less political leaders who are proposing to divide up Eretz Yisrael, God’s possession, while you barter and debate in Annapolis in the name of “peace”.
Yet, in reality you are but only trying to sate the selfish motives of your own dark hearts!
Take heed, for the LORD has made a promise unto His own and shall give unto you due judgment!
Isaiah 62:1 (KJV) For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.

Learning About Ministry 2007-11-27 10:22:47 Just yesterday in my post on feeling bitter, I said I’d share what I learned of the two passages I quoted, one of which was Matthew 14:13-21 (ESV) [+/-]Matthew 14:13-21
[13]Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in
a boat to a desolate place by himself. But when the crowds
heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns.
[14]When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had
compassion on them and healed their sick. [15]Now when it
was evening, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a
desolate place, and the day is now over; send the crowds
away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves."
[16]But Jesus said, "They need not go away; you give them
something to eat." [17]They said to him, "We have only five
loaves here and two fish." [18]And he said, "Bring them
here to me." [19]Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on
the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, he
looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke th Read more:Learning

Don’t Be A Religious Christian 2007-11-26 22:56:34 Have I gone mad? Has resentment and anger gotten the better of me that I now write such spew?
No, no, no, not at all!
I have always maintained that Christian
ity is a faith, and not a religion, and I get quite upset that people, even Christians, do not seem to be able to make the distinction.
Just last night, I heard Mark Driscoll say in his sermon, which I shall display below, why and how religion is an enemy to the Gospel. And it rings so true even about me at times, and I am sure that it will speak directly to you too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXKT8IPdvzA
The central message is this: that we obey God and do His commandments because He loves us and our obedience to Him is a result of the fact that we love Him back, and not because we let religion dictate it to us.
Only God is holy, but we strive to live holy lives because we love God and therefore obey Him.
I hope you enjoy it, and heed the message as much as it is making me re-examine my own walk with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Do I Taste Bitterness? Yes, Much! 2007-11-26 00:07:30 I am not feeling as bitter as I had been on Shabbat evening, thanks very much in part to a great conversation with Sidharth over MSN that same night when he reminded me to give thanks for everything, the good and the bad.
What am I bitter about?

How To Cut The Queue In Purgatory 2007-12-06 12:30:16 Take a trip to Lourdes during the “special offer” period starting this weekend till December 8, 2008, says Pope Benedict XVI.
This piece of news had me both laughing and shaking my head in disbelief (yes, I can do both at the same time!). Yet, on the other hand, it also saddened me to know that there’d be Roman Catholics who will believe this spiel and make the pilgrimage and be filled with false hope!

Seven From 2007 2007-12-06 05:11:48 Dan King at Bibledude.net tagged me for this rather interesting meme to list seven of my favorite blogs in various categories.
I must first apologize to Dan for being tardy with my response though, as I had initially planned to do this on 31 December like some kind of “Look Back…” program. Then again, I have already chosen a blog for each category, so there’s no point in delaying the post till the “appropriate” time.
As with most memes, let’s first state the rules up front:
Link back to Dan at management by God and BibleDude.net as the originator of this meme, and to the person that tagged you with it.
Pick one blog for each of the seven categories listed below. It is okay if others have selected the same blog for the same or different reasons. Just pick what your personal favorites are for each of the categories, link to their site, and briefly explain why you selected them.
Pick three other bloggers to pass this on to. I can be people that Read more:Seven
So Why Is It That I Don’t Feel It? 2007-12-04 09:09:17 I’ve been sharing the events of the past couple of weeks and what’s been happening since then with some brethren and sisters who I’d really like to take this opportunity to thank for their concern.
Whenever I recount the events, a good majority of them tell me that they are excited for me because it seems that God has been teaching me something and they do believe that there’s something exciting in store for me after the trial is over.
Yet…
I somehow don’t share the same excitement.

Take-Aways From A Wedding 2007-12-03 00:37:09 Yesterday was our cousin James’ wedding, and what a wonderful and joyous occasion it was, as most weddings are.
James is actually my wife’s cousin but on the personal level, he was also a former school mate (though he was in his senior year when both my wife and I enrolled), and an ex-colleague where I worked with him in the same company for more than a year.
It was wonderful to see most of their clan gathered together at such a joyous occasion. More surprisingly, we also caught a few ex-schoolmates at the occasion. We had a blast catching up with everyone — most are now married with their own families and doing well for themselves.
Incidentally, here’s a little side-track just to acquaint you a little more with our lives…

Are You Suggesting To Me That Heaven Is Actually A Place?1 2007-12-18 04:24:42 Doug Pagitt just cracks me up!
Yet it’s sad at the same time that this is what leaders of the Emergent Church movement are telling their congregations and non-believers who might be genuinely interested in Christianity.
In this phone interview that was broadcast on Way of the Master Radio, listen to Doug Pagitt totally deny the existence of hell, or even judgment for those that deny the Lord Jesus Christ.

I’m aghast and flabbergasted that there are people who buy into this absolute filth and nonsense!

Bethlehem Or Nazareth? 2007-12-17 01:29:49 It appears that the Vatican has done it again, i.e. changed what is clearly stated in the Bible, God’s Word, to something else at their whim and fancy.
This time, it has to do with where our Lord Jesus Christ was at His birth.
Now, I don’t care much for putting up the Christmas tree or nativity scene during Christmas as I don’t really celebrate the festival as a Christian, but this piece of news piqued my interest because by doing this, the Vatican is in fact saying, “Let’s ignore both Gospel records and the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy!”.

Why 8 Days? 2007-12-15 23:50:39 In Genesis, God made a covenant with Abraham that is to become the seal of God’s relationship with his descendents, the Jews — circumcision of males.
“This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your offspring after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.”

Huh?
I’ve decided to start up a new blog to document my Christian walk as accompanied by some of the best Christian music from when I first started listening to them till the present.
So it will be so that from now on, all music recommendations for Shabbat will also be posted on the new blog, aptly named Sing To The LORD!. In addition, there’ll be regular posts featuring some of my favorite tunes and artistes, as well as my take on the Christian music scene, album reviews, etc.
The blog was started just yesterday, but I’ve left off on the announcement till I’ve got some content posted up. Now that a good amount of content is in, and since it’s also Shabbat starting from sunset later, it’s a good day as any to let you know.

Great Lessons On Obedience 2007-12-12 20:59:53 Do we obey God because we think that most times it will be just for our own good?
You know, back when I was a young Christian more than two decades ago, I used to hold this notion that if I were to pray for something to come true, and if I were to be obedient to God for that period right after, God will answer my prayers.
Yes, it’s extremely naive, but the good news is that God has taught me that, well, it just isn’t so; that being obedient to Him isn’t usually for our own benefit in the sense that He will answer our prayers, but that His glory and goodness might be manifested through us.
I read the following story that ChannelofHealing had on her blog the other day (which I’ll replicate below), and was pleasantly reminded of this fact. Though the story was more about how a man came to believe that God answers prayers, I saw it as a lesson in obedience.

Faith And Pornography 2007-12-11 02:29:26 The advertising adage that sex sells is taken to new extremes today — if you can’t think of some refreshing concept for a product or service, just slap on a nude female form (cover it in some cloth or put it in silhouette so that it passes the censors though) and there’ll be many who will notice it.
Job done.
Our senses are bombarded with sexual images all the time throughout the course of a day that you need to be blind in order to totally ignore them because they are just so in-your-face.

Will I Be Able To Forgive Like They Did? 2007-12-10 04:06:31 I have never watched the news report on the murder of the three men who worked at a Bible publishing house in Turkey till today.
What I saw outraged me, but at the same time I was soberly reminded of the proper Christian response when I saw how the wives of two of the murdered men said they have forgiven the perpetrators.
“But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.”
– Luke 6:27-28 (KJV)
Realizing that I am to forgive those who do wrong against me is one thing, while it still remains to be seen if I’d be able to do exactly that if a similar incident should happen to me one day.
It also does put things into perspective, doesn’t it?

Renewing Your Mind 2007-12-23 00:48:17
Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. But that is not the way you learned Christ! — assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Today's Our 10th Wedding Anniversary (It's Been A Decade?!) 2007-12-19 05:08:18 It’s quite an amazing thing to wake up one day, look at your spouse, and realize that both of you have been married for 10 years.
Because when you think about it, 10 years is a long time, isn’t it?
There we were, young ‘kids’ fresh out of school for no more than three years or so (I was 27, and she 24), committing to each other for life on 19 December 1997 not knowing much about the journey we’d undertake together.
Looking back on the past decade, we’ve had our share of fights, difficulties, disappointments, joys, and triumphs. Along the way, we bought our own abode, tried to have a child (without success, fortunately in some ways but that’s another story), and most importantly, learned what marriage really means and entails.
And after all these years, it’s still amazing that we still possess those little qualities that spice up our daily lives, like how we still have that spark, that ‘psychic’ connection with each other, and Read more:Today
