's relations with Venezuela
and Cuba are regaining pace and the three countries plan to exchange ambassadors soon, Mexico's foreign minister said Tuesday. "All three governments value the importance of relaunching and formalizing diplomatic relations, something which could happen very soon," Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa Cantellano said. "We will soon receive Cuba's and Venezuela's ambassadors." "Mexico's ambassadors will soon travel to these nations, where we will open a new stage of relations with them," she said. Mexico broke off diplomatic relations with both nations during the 2000 to 2006 government of President Vicente Fox due to contradictory positions on various issues. Fox and his Venezuelan counterpart, Hugo Chavez, clashed over a dispute over the US-promoted Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). Fox criticized Chavez for opposing the FTAA. Fox also had been in rows with Cuban leader Fidel Castro, whi Read more:Relaunch

Geologists told The First that these stones are usually called "dolomitic calcareous". They are also fossils of neritic algae. The various forms of the ancient algae can be clearly seen on the fossils. The biggest fossil is 1 meter long, 0.5 meter wide and 0.3 meter thick. Geologists estimated that it might be multi-layered inside. Experts also said that they have discovered many fossils consisting of ancient animals, deep-sea creatures and Read more:Discover

New findings on childhood obesity 2007-09-27 10:35:58 New research has found that obese children are more likely to spend time watching television and have a mother who is overweight. The finding came from Auckland researchers who tracked children from birth to seven years of age. Nearly 600 children were part of the study, which looked at the factors causing childhood obesity
. The research reveals that obese 7-year-olds were also obese as preschoolers. Professor Ed Mitchell from the University of Auckland says that fat is being laid on very early on, and is not just puppy-fat that is going to disappear. One significant factor found was the weight of the child's mother, although at this stage the importance is unclear. The research found that mothers that were overweight were much more likely to have children that were as well. Poor diet, genes and lack of exercise have all been attributed to childhood.

Fighting obesity in schools 2007-09-27 10:35:58 By Tim Smith Education Minister Randolph Horton yesterday announced plans to step up physical activity in schools as the Island fights back against startling obesity
figures. Mr. Horton, a former physical education teacher, told The Royal Gazette he would push for an increase in hours of compulsory exercise as his Ministry reviews the curriculum. It comes after obesity expert Jane DeVille-Almond labelled the Island's schools system "a disgrace" for failing to dedicate enough time to physical exercise. Earlier this month, a survey revealed more than one in three children aged five to ten is obese or overweight, while nurses have warned some ten- to 12-year-old diabetics — weighing 300 pounds — risk death in their early adult years. Yesterday, Mr. Horton responded by stating: "As a former physical education teacher, I am well aware of the importance of physical education in the school curriculum and I am of the belief that the time allocated to physic Read more:Fighting
