Girl premiere is just around the corner. Lots of glam, scandal, great music - and yeah, really hot actors and actresses. We already know some of your favorites - but who hasn’t been signed on to appear on the show that you think would be amazing?

A Gossip Girl Primer: Lillian “Lily” van der Woodsen 2007-08-27 19:29:45 Lillian “Lily” van der Woodsen is the mother of Serena and Erik. She’s described in book one as “the middle-aged version of utter coolness” - perhaps that explains the casting of Kelly Rutherford.
Lily never plays a major role in Serena’s life so far as we can tell. It seems that she is content to remain in her social status and occasional check in with Serena - more like a manager than a mother. Like Serena, she is “tall, blond, thin, and super-poised”. Perhaps the fact that we don’t know much else about Lily is telling; chances are we know about as much about her as Serena does.

“The Wild Brunch” Recap 2007-09-26 21:01:50 Brunch at the Palace.
Dan and Jenny recap their night at the Kiss the Lips party. Jenny insisted that she was fine after Chuck attacked her; and Dan relives “the wave” that he shared with Serena.
Nate and Chuck relive the party as well, with Chuck claiming that he wanted to kill Dan for decking him. Dan, of course, decked Chuck for attacking Jenny at the party.
Serena and her mother have an argument about Serena’s plans for the day. Serena rushes off to see Blair at the same time that Dan tries to meet up with Serena for his “second chance.” Nate also stops by to see Serena.
Blair is not happy to see Serena. Serena brings coffee and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” to try and patch things up, but Blair explains to Serena that she knows that Serena slept with Nate.
Jenny goes to see Blair to find out what people were saying about what happened at the party with her and Chuck. Blair figures out that having Jenny on her side is a good thing - especi Read more:Brunch

The Gossip Girls are… nice? 2007-09-26 09:22:51 According to Sarah, an avid GG fan, the actors on the show are pretty darn nice. While shooting in New York, she had the opportunity to exchange hellos. She wrote (originally on Fan Forum but reprinted with her permission):
The day, besides my usual things, was a down and then up GG day
First, my friend and I were a bit bummed because we had plans with someone at 6/7 and that’s when the sign originally said they were filming. So we said ‘oh well’. BUT! Then around 4,we were walking to her apartment and turns out…they changed the shoot to an all day one from 8 am - 11 pm and as we’re walking by,they’re shooting a scene outside of the school!! We thought the location was going to be a one time shot thing but turns out this location (which is actually a nursery school) is the going to be the exterior of the school so they’re going to be shooting there alot! The Ratings Are In 2007-09-24 03:58:16 And the reviews are mixed. Gossip Girl was watched by 3.65 million people, less than the America’s Next Top Model lead-in audience (5.15 million).
However, rumor has it that these numbers are similar to those of its predecessor, One Tree Hill, in the same time slot.

A Drop in the Bucket 2007-10-01 23:16:15 The ratings are in for week 2 and they are not good news for the Gossip Girl gang. The numbers are down - almost a million viewers. However, the ratings were up for the coveted 18-34 demographic, as well as teens.

Who’s That Girl? 2007-09-29 17:01:57 Did you guess who the Gossip Girl cast member was in the YouTube clip?
That was Gossip Girl’s Kelly Rutherford, who plays Lily van der Woodsen (Serena’s mom). The clip is from Generations, a soap that premiered on NBC in 1989 and ran only a few seasons.
(And kudos if you made the connection that Christopher Duncan starred on Generations - and also on Veronica Mars - hence the Kristen Bell connection)

Gossip Girl Ordered for a full season! 2007-10-12 18:57:09 Hollywood Today is reporting that the CW gave a full season order to Gossip
Girl, making it the only new series with a full-season order.
Usually, this is a sign that a show will not be canceled during the season. It’s hard to tell what it means this season, though, since there is a threat of a writer’s strike on the horizon. However, we’re all hoping that this is a good sign about CW’s faith in the show.

Fun and Games? 2007-10-11 19:58:55 Gossip Girl is mostly light and fluffy. Or is it?
Like its predecessors (90210 and The OC), Gossip Girl hasn’t shied away from some of the more serious issues affecting teens and young adults. One such theme, which the books cover extensively and the TV series has been hinting at, is Blair’s struggle with her weight (she is clearly bulimic in the books).
Another theme gathering some attention is date violence/date rape. Tracee Sioux, over at So Sue Me, has written an interesting piece about the show’s treatment of the issue. Check it out.
Upcoming issues will likely involve gambling and drug use. Any others on the horizon that you can think of?

“Bad News Blair” Recap 2007-10-10 20:58:57 Blair’s obsession with Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast at Tiffany’s makes its appearance early on - until an appearance from Serena rears its ugly head in Blair’s dreams.
Blair’s mother, Eleanor arrives from Paris. Blair finds her chatting with Serena about her new fashion line. Eleanor is predictably judgmental about Blair and her weight. Blair excitedly reports to her mother that she has lost two pounds.
Chuck throws a decadent post-Ivy Week party that begins at the Palace and travels other places. Connor Baizen, an old friend of Nate’s, shows up at the party. Once a hard core party-hopper and drug user, Connor claims to be a changed man. After traveling the world, he began filming documentaries. Nate is intrigued but Chuck is bored.
