New Episode, New Faces 2007-11-01 11:30:23
Despite the fact that yesterday’s episode was a repeat, next week, Gossip Girl is back with a spanking new episode… and new characters!
We were briefly introduced to Captain, Nate’s father, before, but expect him to take on a bigger role in the next episode. Captain Archibald is played by Sam Robards, son of Jason Robards and Lauren Bacall (who, you’ll recall, I think would make a great grandmother for Serena).
We’ve also met Chuck’s father, Bart, a time or two before. Expect his role to heat up, too. Bart Bass is played by Robert John Burke, pictured above as a monster. Why as a monster? Because, and I’m not kidding, many of his notable roles to date have been as monsters/nonhumans (Robocop 3 and No Such Thing).
And while I think Jenny’s dad is hot (as do my friends), we haven’t met her mother… yet. Susan Misner will play the role of Alison, who will make an appearance next week.

A New Fashion Icon on Gossip Girl? 2007-10-31 05:43:21
While I’m not yet a fan of the show’s Vanessa, I am kind of excited about her fashion choices. She’s mixing it up a bit on set with some boho chic. The mix and match of styles is fun and young - in stark contrast to Blair’s almost matronly wardrobe.
But the one bit of her attire that’s getting the most attention? Those earrings. You know, these:
Apparently, Vanessa loves Lizzie McGuire. Those CC Skye earrings are a favorite of Hilary Duff. They retail for about $150 (you can get them at Bloomingdale’s, among other shops)

Gossip Girl Report Exclusive: Who’s Behind Waldorf Designs? 2007-10-29 19:17:04
Everyone knows that the real story on Gossip
Girl isn’t about Serena and Dan, or Nate and Blair or Chuck and anybody… It’s all about the fashion. And the fashion items that are on everyone’s mind? WaldorfDesigns
.
Of course, Waldorf Designs aren’t really pieces of fiction like the show. They’re the real life creations of designer Abigail Lorick, of Lorick New York. I had the opportunity to chat with Abigail about her start in the fashion business, her collection and Gossip Girl… and here’s my upfront confession. I totally expected a fashion diva. I couldn’t have been more off the mark. She was just so lovely - and refreshingly genuinely excited about fashion, starting a new business and having her work featured on Gossip Girl.
Abigail Lorick entered the world of fashion design in a nontraditional way: she started as a model. At age 15, she was modeling in Miami, Florida, already flying from high school to gigs. After Read more:Exclusive
Chace Crawford is “Having a Good Time” 2007-10-29 10:16:36
She may not have a lot to say on Gossip Girl yet but Nicole Fiscella, who plays Isabel Coates on the show, has a lot to say about her castmate off camera.
Fiscella recently dished to People that costar Chace Crawford
“is having a good time” with Carrie Underwood. “They’re the cutest couple,” she says.
Like the rest of the Gossip Girl cast, Fiscella hasn’t had the chance to meet Underwood yet but says she’s looking forward to it.
Hmm. Cute boy. Cute megastar. A little Britney thrown in? This is the real story on Gossip Girl!

Gimme More… Romo? 2007-10-28 18:50:38
Okay, this is very “six degrees of Chace Crawford.”
But.
Days after I reported that Tony Romo was supposedly seeing Sophia Bush, the tabloids have reported that Britney Spears (seen above in arguably her pre-crazy days) stopped by to visit Romo having dinner - and later at a club to see Romo and friends again.
The connection? Romo used to date Carrie Underwood. Underwood reportedly replaced Romo (who she claims treated her a bit like a football widow) with the slightly younger Chace Crawford. And there you have it. Gimme

Blake’s Shoes Cause a Stir 2007-10-28 11:06:32 While Leighton Meester and Chace Crawford were gabbing on Tyra, Blake Lively stopped by Live with Regis and Kelly. And folks couldn’t stop talking about… her feet.
That’s right. This limited edition ballerina pink “Diana” show by designer Gaetano Perrone (formerly of Alexander McQueen and if you ask me, a little Penn Badgley like in his photo) caused quite a stir. Available in limited quantities at Manhattan’s Te Casan. Well, was available. The shoes are now sold out.

“Hot” New Trend Shows Up On Gossip Girl 2007-11-04 06:11:35
As in toasty.
When Jenny showed up at Blair’s slumber party toting her Barefoot Bunny Slippers, she was following a trend followed by many celebs these days. Barefoot Bunny slippers are warming the tootsies of a host of stars these days - and first garnered attention when Joey Fatone donned them on Dancing with the Stars.
They’re available at Barefoot Parties for $39.

Blair and Chuck? Could It Ever Work? 2007-11-10 06:13:44 During last week’s episode of “Victor, Victrola“, my friends and I briefly discussed the fate of a Blair
and Chuck
relationship. I wasn’t surprised at all that the two of them had hooked up (though I thought the circumstances to be terribly un-Blair). I had always assumed that Blair would not end up with Nate - she is too narcissistic and he too needy - although I’m sure the writers have some sort of Blair/Nate on again/off again romantic entanglement planned to toy with our emotions for the remaining 6 or so episodes of the season.
And weeks before, I had suggested the possibility of Blair falling for Dan (you can vote in the sidebar) much to the horror of my friends.
But I could see the Chuck and Blair thing working out. They are, after all, terribly alike. Two lost souls, pretending to be full of bravado, searching for something… affirmation, love, attention… while being held back because they can’t let go of the worlds that

As you might have guessed, Upper East Siders, prohibition never stood a chance against exhibition. It’s human nature to be free, and no matter how long you try to be good, you can’t keep a bad girl down.
And bonus points for who it is about and the circumstances surrounding it…

Gossip Girl Composition 2007-11-09 08:50:12 A lot has been written about the music behind Gossip
Girl… We haven’t, however, heard a lot about the underscore.
Alex Patsavas, the music supervisor on Gossip Girl, chose the Transcenders to set the mood behind a lot of what goes on during the show. The Transcenders also composed the opening theme song (and if the techno/funk/pop sound reminds you of something you’ve heard before, they co-wrote “Let’s Get It Started Now” with the Black Eyed Peas).
You can catch snippets of The Transcenders at their web site (where they reveal that they’ve also done tunes for Superbad, John Tucker Must Die and Knocked Up as well as a number of ads for Target) - they also have a MySpace page.

“Victor, Victrola” Recap 2007-11-07 21:00:55 Burlesque is in - and Chuck sees it as the perfect opportunity to impress his father. Things do not, however, go as planned.
Serena and Dan make out in front of the school. Serena into PDA? I don’t think so.
Nate confronts his father about the drugs. They promise to discuss it later. So, Nate seeks out Jenny to talk about Blair. Blair reminds Jenny that she doesn’t like secrets.
Lily and Bart are dating. Chuck knows but Bart warns him not to tell Serena. Lily wants to tell Serena first. But Chucks knows Bart’s secret: there are other women.
Jenny loses her very expensive bracelet (on loan). Lucky for her (?) Blair finds it.
Serena and Blair discuss Serena having sex with Dan. They haven’t (yet). Apparently, it’s because Dan is still a virgin. Serena doesn’t know and is very aggressive - while they’re making out, Vanessa shows up via the fire escape. Dan shows her the door but she comes back in to watch/listen. Later, Dan and Serena make out Read more:Victor

One Strike and We’re Out? 2007-11-07 13:30:07 Word is that production on Gossip Girl will be immediately affected by the writer’s strike. Horrors!
There are 2,500 members of the Writers Guild East who are affected by the strike. Thirty shows are expected to stop production and Gossip Girl is among them. The LA Times is reporting that the show will only air 13 episodes this season instead of the planned 22. Say it isn’t so!

Taylor Momsen Goes to Homecoming 2007-11-15 07:27:09
After all, what’s a 14 year old girl to do while production is shut down on her hit TV show?
The Washington Post reports that Taylor
arrived at the Winston Churchill High School gym wearing a black lace tunic that was “way too short for a dress.” She didn’t come along, tagging along with friends from her hometown in Potomac, Maryland.
Not surprisingly, it was reported that “strangers had a hard time striking up a conversation with the gorgeous blond starlet.” She is currently not attending classes at the school.
So, what do you think? Was it fair for her to drop in since she was no longer attending school there? Did it take the focus off of homecoming? Were you there - I’d love to hear a first hand account!

“Seventeen Candles” Recap 2007-11-14 20:58:54 Blair goes to confession (even though she’s not Catholic). The priest’s advice? “Don’t drink. Keep your clothes on. Try to avoid those who might cause you to stray.”
On the way out, Blair is confronted by Chuck. Chuck reminds Blair of their night in the limo. Blair tells him that the prior evening will never be spoken of again. She then uninvites Chuck from her 17th birthday party.
Dan and Serena have a date at the cafe… where Vanessa has a job.
Jenny brings her mom home, much to Rufus’ surprise. Rufus and Alison are clearly uncomfortable with each other at first but later share a kiss.
Nate’s father’s indictment makes the headline of the paper. Nate wants to listen to the lawyer’s advice but his father says that he will be cleared. Nate’s mother asks Nate to give Blair the family ring in order to keep Blair’s mother happy. Nate doesn’t want to since they are officially broken up - but his mother asks him t Read more:Seventeen

Ratings for Gossip Girl Reason to Cheer 2007-11-13 19:11:11 According to the CW, Gossip
Girl had a great week with its airing of “Victor, Victrola” besting Bionic Woman in the coveted women 18-34 demographic.
Together with America’s Next Top Model, Gossip Girl helped The CW score second on Wednesday night in the women 18-34 demographic, behind only ABC. The night brought solid numbers, bringing the CW its largest audience (3.8mil) and best teen (2.7/7) and female teen (4.3/14) ratings since mid-October.
So this means you’re watching, right?

On Thursday, Everyone Will Want This Dress 2007-11-12 21:55:35 Why not get the jump on the details now?
InStyle magazine reports that the dress that Blair wears to her birthday party on Wednesday’s episode is available from edressme.com; it is a lace and charmeuse tiered dress by Faviana and retails for $238. The tights (which I looooooove) are Wolford Herringbone tights and retail for $52. The shoes are by NineWest, the Heath model, and are on sale (!) right now for $49.99.
I love Blair’s wardrobe on the show. This outfit is fabulous. I couldn’t pull it off but the tights… I’m thinking they’d be perfect with my black wool dress.
Got anything in your closet to mix and match with this week’s fashions?

Gossip Girl Rocks 2007-11-17 06:56:43
It’s apparently not enough that there are high profile music tracks on each episode of Gossip
Girl. On last week’s episode, the producers took it a step further with a Guitar Hero 2 throw down between Serena and Vanessa.
Now, I’ll confess: I haven’t the slightest clue about Guitar Hero (though I did stick around on the web site to listen to the opening of “Welcome to the Jungle.” I couldn’t tell the difference between versions 2 or 3. Frankly, I didn’t even know there were different versions.
But the game is huge. Ginormously huge. And how do I know this? The squeals of my real life, grown up friends when they saw it on the screen. They happen to be addicted own the game.
So I did a little research for those of us who are video-game impaired. Guitar Hero is a video game available for Xbox, PlayStation and Wii. It was first introduced in 2005 and there are now several versions, including an 80s version.
The game featur Read more:Rocks
