the truth about global warming

There has been a great deal of debate recently over the whole global warming issue, and some may force it to become one of the major political issues in the 2008 elections. Meanwhile, the church has either been hesitant to pick a side in this debate, or has simply rejected the idea altogether because of [...] This is only a summary of the full article. what is truth? (part deux)
2007-08-19 23:27:25
In a previous post, I spoke about how all “sources” of truth are valid. Truth exists, and at various times throughout history, we “discover” it. I believe that the Bible presents absolute truth, and that nothing in science that has been defined as absolute truth has yet to contradict it. There are also scientific theories... Music Review: Wonderful King by Dan Beiler
2007-08-14 20:06:51
Okay, okay, I’m a little biased on this one. Dan Beiler is a friend of mine, and has been a big part of the worship teams not only for the church that I attend, but also for the Young Adults Ministry that I lead. But, I’m sure that I’m not the only one that thinks [...] This is only a summary of the full article. Please visit BibleDude.net now for the full article, plus much more...

what is truth?

Pontius Pilate asked these words, and since then the answer to this question has eluded many a great minds. But isn’t the Word very clear on this point? The Word of God is truth. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light. But when you look at the world around you, how can so [...] This is only a summary of the full article. Book Review: Blue Like Jazz

There are a few books that I feel like have really shaped my faith, and affected my Christian walk. Donald Miller’s Blue Like Jazz is one of those books. The topic of submission is such a difficult topic to discuss these days. So often the idea of submission is taken as a sign of weakness. But Biblically, it is a source of strength. Music Review :: Fall Into You by Tyler Appel
2007-10-23 05:42:59
Real. That’s how Tyler likes to describe his music. Tyler is a talented musician with a “real” heart for worship. One thing that he is very open and real about is his struggles in his relationship with God. If there is a question about God, then Tyler has probably asked it. Along the way he has realized that even (and sometimes especially) through these struggles that God IS there, and that He loves us more than we can know. This song by Tyler expresses his heart to just fall back into the arms of Christ. At times we may not feel like He is there for us, and our world may be crashing in around. It is in those times that we just need to let go and fall into the arms of our Savior, and it is there that we can realize and experience His love for us. It is there that everything makes sense. Check out the video for yourself, and if you are struggling with anything, make this song your prayer today… YouTube Link I am a little biased when it comes to Tyler and his mu

I must have asked myself if I was sure about this somewhere around a million times. Am I actually going to go through with this? Why do I need to do this anyway? Isn’t my salvation enough? After my salvation experience about a year and a half earlier, I did notice some great changes in my life. However there was always the sense that I could always go back to my old way of life if this Christianity thing turned out to not be what I thought it was. After all, I was a liar with an immoral heart and a hypocrite. I never did open myself up completely to those close to me. I was a Christian now, but wondered why I still struggled with things. I even started serving as a helper with the youth group, and often found myself talking to young men telling them that they shouldn’t be doing the very things that I know that I struggled with in my own mind and heart. I was told that the water baptism was about a bunch of different things, and it all made sense. But most importantly my Jes

two good friends
2007-10-13 10:02:51
It is a story that we seldom think of when we think of fellowship, but I believe that a careful look at the bond that two men had with each other speaks volumes about what true Christian fellowship should be like. It is the story of two close friends walking together to the temple for prayer as recorded in Acts 3:1-4:4. The friends are Peter and John, and how this whole walk to the temple goes down tells us a great deal about the relationship that they had. First of all, a relationship like theirs had a lot of history. As disciples of Jesus, they had just spent the last three years together learning under the Messiah Himself. Really very little of this time together is documented, but even from the things that we do know it is easy to see that they experienced some incredible times together. A close friendship is knit together through the close experiences that we have with one another. Therefore the first clue at developing strong Christian fellowship is to seek out opportunities to p

A recent story about the office of the Architect of the Capitol removing the word “God” from a certificate requested by a youth who had ordered the flag for his grandfather absolutely shocked me, and should shock every person of faith in this country! The program allows for people to order flags that have been flown over the Capitol building along with a Certificate of Authenticity with an inscription of your choice. 17-year old Paul Larochelle ordered a flag to present to his grandfather after he (Paul) had been inducted into the Eagle Scouts. The note that he had requested on the certificate was, “this flag was flown in honor of Marcel Larochelle, my grandfather, for his dedication and love of God, country and family.” The office of the Architect of the Capitol, who sends these flags out, removed the word “God” from this certificate. (Read the full story here.) This act should outrage anyone who believes in the First Amendment which allows citizens

Then after nourishing myself with a breakfast bar that I eat while getting my son ready, we all rush out the door so that we can get to church in time so that we can get a good seat. We rush in just as the service starts, and we move into the “worship” time which is full of songs that make me feel good and get me excited about my relationship with God. What’s wrong with this picture? Well, besides the fact that it is probably much more common than just being my own personal experience, it paints a wrong picture of what the corporate worship experience should be like. I love the words of John Bevere in his book Drawing Near when he says that the Holy Spirit dealt with him in this issue by telling him that, “worship is not a slow song!” The truth is

the truth about prayer in school
2007-10-01 22:10:56
I am encouraged by recent stories from the “See You At The Pole” day on September 26th. To me there are few things as cool as seeing younger generations standing up for what they believe in, and making a public statement such as this. However many believe that prayer, and God, is being forced out of the schools these days. Some opponents to??school prayer would make the case that kids should not be forced to pray, or make reference to a God that they don’t believe in. Others would even go so far as to state that kids should be brought up completely agnostic, and not be even taught anything about God. Meanwhile, it seems that Christians who feel that it is important to be able to pray in school are quickly becoming the minority. Even the church itself (meaning the people that make up the church, and not the organization) is very split over how far they are willing to take this issue. The truth is that we must first understand our rights in this situation. While Engel v

Some of the most wonderful acts of worship in all of history are those that are recorded in the Psalms . In fact, when David was writing most of them, they expressed a kind of worship that was quite revolutionary for his time. You have to remember that during his days, getting into heaven was more about following the rules than it was about having a heart for God. I don’t believe that it was intended to be that way, but it was??simply human nature for man to just respond to the rules and offer the sacrifices that were required. But David danced! David was different because of his heart to please God and to be near Him, and the Psalms are the outflow of his his heart expressed with pen to paper. Therefore, when studying the Psalms there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration. Typically with God’s Word, we look at it as His Word to us. We can look at it, and find the principles that we need to center our lives around. We build doctrine, and rules and guideli

The National Abortion Federation reports that, “One in three American women will have an abortion by age 45. Abortion is one of the safest medical procedures provided in the United States and Canada today.” Well the safety issue??really depends on when life begins. Even biology books will tell you that at the moment of conception that a unique person comes into existence with his/her own DNA. However, for the first nine months of their lives, they must rely on the protection that only a mother can provide. That raises the question…?? What kind of protection does abortion provide? Is it right to take a life in order to prevent a mere inconvenience in another’s life? Would that mean that it is??okay for me to steal food from the grocery store so that I don&

It???s a scene that has become all too common. Imagine sitting in the break room at work, eating your lunch, and people start talking about a politically sensitive subject like abortion. While listening to everyone share their views about the woman???s right to choose, you realize that you are simply outnumbered and keep quiet. Or maybe it is a conversation about gay marriage, and you keep your mouth shut so that you don???t come across as being intolerant. Maybe it is a little more subtle than that. Maybe you are sitting at home watching TV with your kids while children on the programs constantly disrespect their parents and get away with it. And then there is the ???swear word??? or two that pops up that was unheard of on prime time TV 10 or 20 years ago. This is a serious problem in Christianity, and is causing the church to loose ground in America quite quickly. The problem is that many Christians today lack boldness. The body of Christ is loosing its backbone, and many a chiroprac

Why is there so much tragedy in the world today? Between terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and even personal tragedies like a loved one being diagnosed with a terminal cancer, we seem to regularly face adversity and tragedy. You cannot turn on the news without hearing about a tragic murder or some pedophile who taunts society with their ability to get away with what they do. So much evil and tragedy in our world has an even worse side effect. It causes people to question where God is, and they end up being fearful. It is a shame when people have to be concerned about their children playing in front of their own homes because they don???t know who is watching. This mentality causes people to have their kids play inside and shut out the rest of the world. This fear of what is happening in the world around us is resulting in a society that is very individualistic, and has little sense of community. First let???s deal with this reaction of questioning where God is at in all of this. Wh
