Villa Spotlight: Fattoria Della Nave - Part 3 2007-10-03 12:50:01
Over the past few days we have taken a closer look at the Fattoria Della Nave in our VillaSpotlight
. We have discussed the Parco Della Nave, the magnificent forest preserve on the property for the use of the guests. Yesterday we saw the interiors of two of the buildings on the property, a total of five separate units of this large and luxurious multi-unit villa. Today we will be looking into the Valcellino part of the property, with its own five units: Luigi, Irene, Francesca, Maria Chiara, and the Anna Maria apartments.

All Aboard! 2007-10-16 10:14:08 Trains are a very common site in Italy, so one could easily overlook one of the trains that is now traveling Italy but has something unusual aboard: a fantastic collection of art from the past five hundred years! The event is titled “From Titian to Street Art: Five Hundred Years of Italian Art” and it set out from Rome on October 1st. The train will be stopping in over twenty cities in its forty day trek across Italy, stopping in cities for a day or two.
The initiative is in response to the fact that only ten percent of Italians frequently visit the innumerable art galleries, exhibitions and museums across Italy. With this in mind, the curators and sponsors of the ‘art train’ are bringing the art to the people. Though the train will be concluding its journey in Lombardy, it will spend much of its time in the south, where museums are not as prevalent as in the north.
There is no admission to board the train and its six different cars, each dedicated to a differ
Trevi Runs Red 2007-10-22 08:24:58
Last Friday a great public work of art that has stood as a symbol of Rome for hundreds of years was defaced. A man in a hat reportedly approached the fountain in the crowd of tourists and dumped a bucket of red dye into Trevi Fountain, dying the water a blood red. The fountain recirculates the water in its basin and through the jets of water it shoots into the air, allowing the dye to permeate the entire fountain quickly. Authorities believe the stunt has not caused permanent damage to the marble statues of the fountain.
Pamphlets were left at the scene claiming that the action was committed by the “FTM Futurist Action 2007″, which is an organization the authorities have never heard of before. According to the leaflets the group claims to battle “everything and everyone with a spirit of healthy violence” as well as turning the “grey bourgeois society into a triumph of color.” It also pointed to the poor state of the elderly in Italy, as well as

article here at Tuscany Villas we will be taking a look Il Pratino Di Solata, located in the province of Arezzo and laying in between Arezzo and Siena. This quaint country house is definitely off the beaten path, you won’t find large highways leading to this property. But for those who want privacy and to escape the tourist traps, this property is perfect. The gorgeous views of the hills of Chianti and the beautiful Arno valley that this villa affords can not be found in a city apartment or something closer to town.

now turns itself to the charming town of Poggibonsi, in the center of the Val d’Elsa region of Tuscany. The town is within the province of Siena, and is centrally located to many of the major tourist towns of Tuscany. Poggibonsi is roughly 12km from San Gimignano, the famed ‘City of Towers’, and only 25km to Siena itself. But it isn’t the town we are hear to see today, its all about the villas! San Lucchese is a gorgeous multi-unit villa just outside of Poggibonsi that offers a blend of a rustic country house with fine modern furnishings.
The buildings on this old farm have been lovingly restored and divided into three separate rental units. All units are well equipped and have a satellite television. Access to the house is on a 1 kilometer dirt road, giving you the extra privacy that is such a luxury when renting villas over crowded hotels. Each unit also has a private outdoor area, equipped with lawn furniture and wonderful views of t

we turn to that gem ‘under the Tuscan sun’, Cortona! This lovely Tuscan hill town is a great choice for any traveler as it has more than enough to keep you busy and works great as a staging point for day trips through Tuscany and Umbria. One favorite of the area is Lake Trasimeno, a huge and gorgeous lake dotted with interesting little towns and ruins.
“Wonderful for its views, facilities and warmth of welcome. Very well placed for visiting Siena, Montepulciano, Orvieto, Perugia, Assisi, Arrezo and of course Cortona. Very sociable living area with well equipped kitchen good size table and well arranged seating although the restaurant over the road is very good so you have to make the choice of cooking with the family (and/or friends) or walking over the road to the restaurant (having the restaurant over the road didn’t cause any problem with noise or clientele etc). We went out of season when the pool wasn’t available howeve
Villa Spotlight: Leccio 2007-11-08 12:32:00
Welcome back to our VillaSpotlight
! In this column we like to highlight different villas for different reasons, some are gorgeous luxury villas, some are country villas or farmhouses, and some great simply because you will see parts of Tuscany few other tourists will get to enjoy. San Dalmazio is definitely off the beaten path, located south west of Siena and south of Poggibonsi, but it offers a great staging area for your day trips around Tuscany as well as a perfect place to relax and enjoy the country side.
Leccio is a larger sized villa, sleeping up to 10 people in its five bedrooms. The villa is located roughly 2.5 kilometers outside of San Dalmazio, and offers wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Also in the distance you can see the old fortress of Silano. The villa has a large well equipped lawn, offering a wood burning stove, barbecue for grilling Tuscan style, as well as a hammock to kick back and enjoy the sunny days. There is also a swimming pool

y is well known for its love of food and drink. By no means the quantity of it, but the quality. But in the past few years there has been a growing trend amongst the cities of Tuscany of high quality chocolatiers, artisans in their craft, that spend years perfecting their recipes and techniques. The International Herald Tribune has a wonderful article about this recent change in the gastronomic landscape of the region and is well worth a read. If you are planning your vacation in Tuscany currently, it also has addresses and contact information for some of these chocolatiers, perhaps you should drop in on your trip!

Farmhouse or Villa Rental? 2007-11-21 15:14:26 What is the difference between a farmhouse and villa rental?
This a question we are frequently asked and the real answer is hard to but into words. Not because it’s hard to define a difference but because so many property owners mix up the definition. At Tuscany-villas.it we have decided to merge the properties into a single category called Villa
s/Farmhouses. For the Tuscan marketplace this works well because, in fact, most properties that people call ‘villas’ are actually restored farmhouses. In other markets it might not be so, like the Caribbean where most properties are new and are commonly referred to as villas.
If you are searching for a vacation rental in Tuscany I would not be too concerned about the property category as defined by the owner. On most sites villas and farmhouses are interchangeable as it is on our site. If you are looking for a newer property, not a restored farmhouse, then you really need to specify that in your request.

Vacation in Tuscany 2007-11-30 07:24:42 Planning a vacation in Tuscany
can be a daunting task, especially for first-time travellers to Italy. We have observed in the past that the first place to start is in deciding on the type of vacation you’d like to experience.
There are basically four types of vacations. First is one of the most popular types of travel - The Guided Tour. There are many companies offering this type of vacation including Perillo Tours and Trafalgar to mention just a few. Tours in Italy are great for people that want to see a large part of the Italy, moving from hotel to hotel every few days and prefer to have their itinery planned for them. We recommend tours for many first-time travellers that don’t have a lot of time to spend in one area.
The second type of travel is the cruise. In recent years, more and more cruise operators such as Cunard and Hollard America began offering cruises of the Mediterranean Sea with stops in Italy including the Tuscan coast. For the cruise lover this could Read more:Vacation

we are looking once again towards the the famous City of Towers, San Gimignano. As a city with a very long history, dating as far back as the third century B.C. as an Etruscan settlement, it is a very interesting place to visit and has simply incomparable views with its many medieval towers.
Podere Lo Spadino is located just outside of San Gimignano, roughly 4 kilometers from the city center itself. Once it was a typical country farmhouse, the owners rebuilt and renovated the entire house several years ago for modern amenities and comfort. Typical no longer, the villa is a perfect place to spend your vacation in Tuscany at! During the renovation the owners tried to stay with the original construction and style as much as possible. The farmhouse is part of a estate that produces its own olive oil and wine.
“The week spent at “Podere” was one week of four weeks spent in Italy. It was definitely a highlight of our trip. The host family
