Another test shot with the Sigma 10-20 and Singh Ray Blue and Gold Polarizer combo.
The sun popped out this evening and I grabbed the new lens and filter and drove to Carkeek Park for the sunset. In the center of the shot is an old piece of driftwood. It took until nearly the sun set before I realized that I could rotate the Singh Ray to modify the effect it creates, going from warm reds to cool blues. I guess that’s why we call them test shots, right? In this shot I rotated the filter to get a split screen effect.

The Öxarárfoss waterfall at Þingvellir with an anonymous innocent bystander. I went to Þingvellir to catch some of the autumn foliage but unfortunately I was to late. So it’s the 3rd year I fail to make images of the color display that marks the change of seasons. I hope I have some luck next time.
The backup plan was to take long exposures of the rivers and waterfalls there. But somehow my tripod had mysteriously moved from the trunk of my car into the garage. So no luck there.
The idea here was to make an image about the wonderful thing that happens when the strong sunlight hits the dense clouds of tiny waterdrops. I don’t think I’ve quite managed to do that decently but I think the image has some qualities and is worth sharing here. The processing wasn’t too extensive. It’s a manual mix of 3 bracketed handheld exposures with the usual adjustment of contrast, colors and levels.
