And It Came Back With a Vengence 2007-09-02 17:56:13 The longest badminton session, ever, 3 hours. Not exactly 3 hours straight since one can literally fall down from trying that when I haven’t done any exercise for around 6 months. So long, huh? My first time at the badminton hall in Changi General Hospital. It felt weird but the recreation centre felt at home, like the other centres that I’ve been to. We started at 3.30pm to be exact.
At 5.30pm, everyone was tired from the session, I was cooling down before I hit the showers. None of us were playing, just sitting and chatting. Dinner was at Nihon Mura, Tampines. Each coloured plate costs $0.99, no wonder the place was crowded. The ice cream was nice. As for the sushi, it was just ok. The rest ordered a lot of food. The whole table was full most of the time. Incredible. It was a real pity because after the workout, we put all the fats back and I’m now with a rounder and bigger tummy. What a waste.

I Feel Useless 2007-09-01 21:23:35 I feel like a useless twit. I don’t know why I just couldn’t say it out when it’s all in my mind, composed and ready to be said. I just breathed in and out and in and out without any more words. What a waste of my time to spend rehearsing what to say and how to say it. Useless fool. Useless me.
Sometimes, I feel that I have to change to follow your ways so that you’d be happy, but I’m not. I did it because I want you to to be happy. However, there are times when I disagree but you can’t see my point and I give up. Perhaps I’m giving up too easily but all I want is for you to be happy. I guess I must be a silly twit too. It’s said that communication is a 2-way thing. Perhaps I haven’t been that good at communication, I’m not learning hard enough?
Maybe. I still have a long way to go from I see.
I seem to be doing everything wrong unless it’s done your way. Maybe I’m not open enough to see it your way. I feel so usel

Friday Mood 2007-08-30 18:09:02 Just don’t feel like working today. Not in the mood to do anything. Just feel like staying home and sleep. Maybe it’s Friday
Mood. I can’t think of a colour for today. It looks blue at this moment. Or it’s supposed to be Pink. Not sure. Or just white. Can anyone tell me?

Be A Halloween Ninja This October! 2007-08-29 20:21:26 There is still about 2 months to go before Halloween
arrives. While it’s not that popular to dress up as ghouls and witches here, it’s a tradition elsewhere like America. For those who have been Naruto fans, you know what ninjas are. They throw sharukens, darts and channel chakra to walk up trees and over water.
While not many shops sell costumes to dress up as ninja, you can try KarateDepot.com that sells Halloween Ninja
costumes. The supply set includes a Ninja uniform (with hood and mask), Ninja Bokken and Long Tabi boots. They have high quality and authentic looking customes that will look better than store bought costumes.
Customers who have bought this set recently were delighted with the quality of the boots. They loved the light weight of the boots and their quietness. While the bokken was not up to par, this is a small matter. If you are attending a Halloween party, dress up as a Ninja instead of a ghost, witch, warlord or wizard and have fun!

How I Would Use My USD1 Million 2007-08-26 10:22:30 While I did list out what I would do with SGD1 million, this tag by SentosaGirl was to list what I would do with USD1 million. Let’s see now.
Buy a house in Australia and rent it out.
Donate 10% of the remainder to animal welfare groups, namely, Cat Welfare Society and SPCA.
Buy my own flat.
Renovate the flat (have to live in it one.)
Give 20% of the remainder to my parents.
Setup a business with DD.
Travel to those countries I’ve been meaning to visit with DD. (should have some leftovers.)
Now, the rest of you have to do this tag.

Can You Survive on $260 a Month? 2007-08-25 22:13:50 While reading through my feeds, I read from Singapore Community Cats that Dr Lily Neo has asked for a revise for the money given to the poor from $260 a month to $400 a month. On personal note, depending on what the money is used on, $260 a month, in the rising costs from GST to bus fares, is not enough here. Even London has started providing cheaper bus fares for God’s sake to the poor.
Unfortunately, Dr Neo was asked, “How much do you want? Do you want three meals in a hawker centre, food court or restaurant?” (asked by our dear Dr Vivian Balakrishnan). Apparently Dr Balakrishnan feels that $260 a month is enough to live on for food. Maybe for food but is the dear doctor going to pay for their utility bills and transport?
So, may I ask, the raise for the MPs is reasonable to keep the talents in while a small raise for the welfare given to the poor is not reasonable? Do you think that they will be able to pay for all the rising costs? I think not. Unless Dr Balakris Read more:Month
Hotel Review: Bali Tropic Resort and Spa 2007-08-23 08:27:04 Finally found out the hotel that my friend was talking about. Bali TropicResort
and Spa. Interestingly, someone actually managed to book successfully through a timeshare. The Hot Stone Massage is a must try if we were to stay there. They provide quite good service too. Asking for a power adaptor was not a major problem for them either. This resort has quite a number of positive reviews.

Hotel Review: Bali Dynasty Resort 2007-08-23 07:49:55 I’m ending up with quite a number of reviews here but then again, it doesn’t hurt to look around, does it? I can’t find that link to the hotel that a friend recommended. Anyway, here’s another review by travelers to Bali Dynasty Resort
.
Apparently, there’s an outdoor jacuzzi. Other than that, the hotel was rather rundown. While the hotel’s conditions were not favourable, the food was fantastic. It also seems like a family hotel. Another noted the noise level wasn’t that acceptable.

The resort is renowned for its warm Balinese hospitality and combines international standards with Balinese architecture.

Cafe is quite famous, I thought, why not do a check on how others have reviewed it in Bali. It’s received quite a number of positive reviews although some negative review stated the kids as runners. Another stated it as being the best place for families. Perhaps it is more suitable for families rather than a place for couples and singles.
While the rooms were average, they are quite clean. That’s important because I don’t want any cockroaches. It’s also a lively hotel. Looks like we won’t have to go too far for any entertainment.
In addition, it is located near the city. Looks like this hotel can be included in the list for consideration.

Reason #18293: Why I Hate Taking Trains 2007-09-26 09:40:06 This morning, while on my way to work, I overheard this lady instructing another lady loudly to move in. The response was “都没有位了,还走什么?你是不是中国人?” It meant “There’s no space, how to move in? Are you from China?”
Somehow, the remark on moving in further the car of the train would come from the mouths of those form China. Not that I’m biased but there was this lady whom I met while waiting for this bus is that is forever slow and crowded who said the same thing, “move further in.” I guess they are not embarrassed to tell people to think and move in so that others who may be rushing for time to board the public transport.
The remark on the nationality earned another remark that Singaporeans have no brains and are fixed on standing on the “best” spot so as to alight easier. It could have stared an international war. The never ending reason why I hate taking trains, especially during peak hours.

12 Boxes of Mooncakes 2007-09-22 19:22:15 DD and I went to Takashimaya to pick up the mooncakes that we ordered. 9 in all. We were supposed to be given one free mini durian mooncakes for every 3 boxes bought even with staff discounts. The lady issuing us said “But you got discount lei.” Seeing our disappointed faces, she gave us one box free. Not satisfied, I couldn’t seem to find the price list. DD decided to ask the lady boss who said, “Yes, have.” Exclamation marks were popping up on our faces.
Moral of the story, ask the boss, whoever that is to verify. We ended up trying to decide where to get a taxi without waiting in the long queue, anyone who had tried to wait for a taxi at Ngee Ann City knows its notorious for long wait, more than 20 minutes. Try waiting in line while carrying 9 metal boxes of mooncakes.
Lucky Plaza has uninterrupted line of taxis waiting for you. Go there if you need one fast. So, we carried all 12 boxes of mooncakes this year. I left out the photography sessio. ARGH!

Silent and Your Photos Will Be Here 2007-09-21 23:19:57 It’s been a busy week for me. ES is going to meet up with us next month to give out the wedding invitation cards. I have been trying to get NL via SMS and the fastest reply was a day later, that was more than 24 hours after I sent it out. I wonder what she is busy with. NL, do reply ASAP because I’m thinking worst case scenarios right now. If not, I’m going to accuse MC for kidnapping you.
Or I will post your photo and full details so that anyone who has seen you, can let me know you are still on earth and not in space exploring the moon. The rest who read my SMS and didn’t reply, I’ll do the same too.
Maybe I should post your nude baby photos and have more responses. Aunties and uncles of my dear friends, I’m going to ask for them soon if they don’t give me some sort of sign that they are still kicking someone’s butt.
Anyone who is a friend of ES and is attending the wedding, rely to ES or she will help me look for the photos and pass th Read more:Silent
Settling Diet Differences 2007-09-20 18:12:30 When one’s diet is questioned, one feels the strong need to defend the decision. Such is the issue when it comes to being vegetarian and non-vegetarian. For couples in such a situation, it can be challenging. A marriage can be destroyed if both parties’ relatives and friends flip about your diets. They are concerned but the effects were disastrous.
When kids enter the equation, the balance that once worked before changed. While one may be tolerant about letting the kids choose what to eat, the other parent may not. It can be hurtful if the in-laws keep saying that “If you ate meat…“. A relationship will have a strain if one likens being vegetarian to a religion and saying it’s better. This is when one is less tolerant.
The Chinese saying “嫁鸡随鸡,嫁狗随狗” often means the wife has to follow the husband in whatever ways after marriage. Even my grandmother advocates it. My parents? They have told me about it. To this day, I wond
Surf’s Up 2007-09-16 06:21:10 DD bought 2 tickets from U Movies. The movie was Surf’s Up that I wanted to watch the other time. This outdoor screening event was organised by NTUC because U Movies is celebrating its 2nd anniversary. We were late in entering but the space was not fully filled up yet. I thought kiasu people would have choped the best spots by then. Since there were still good spots for placing the mat, we got one good position. Once settled down, I started taking note of the game stalls and food and beverages. The sun was out which I thought was a good sign. Boy, was I wrong.
DD went to get the drinks. I noticed the balloons. It was about 40 minutes later that another group arrived to place their mats in front of us. It was a big group. With a girl of about 8 years old. As with custom, kids are often given free balloons, she was no exception. The screen was on the left while the stage for lucky draw and launch of the U Wellness was on the right. A bright yellow balloon was tied up blocking one p
Random Thoughts 2007-09-14 10:30:53 I have a meme about using US$1 million and sexy tutor, Miss Loi has done it. I’m still waiting for the rest. So, I should go and place a comment then. I’m so lazy, huh? Jian, you promised to do after you get well.
Understandably, this is a new blog site and .info sites have been used for splogs which means trouble for myself. There are some sites where my comments go through, some just got caught in spam. While I very much wished to link to Wikipedia, with the latest notice about this guy going around editing the information about Mr Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore dollar, and other sites due to the rising fares, perhaps (?) to vent his frustrations, I link to other sites that are less prone to being defaced.
While it’s unfortunate that my site seems to be identified as a spam, I did try to get another domain but it’s been in use for quite some time, I can’t just point a gun at the owner to demand that it be sold to me. I had to settle for this.

Why Labels are Important 2007-09-29 20:23:25 I went to pick up the free luggage that I was was entitled to since I booked the package at Safe2Travel. Since DD doesn’t have a luggage of a bigger size, I gave it to him. I have a larger one myself and will be using that as I tend to pack more than what is needed. The “kiasu” syndrome at work again. It’s always better to over-pack, ok?
It was lunch time when I got to DD’s place. We watched 1408 while having lunch. A waste because I shouldn’t have bought any lunch. I couldn’t finish it when watching any scary movies! Note to self: Never watch any scary movies during mealtimes. The movie was both exciting and interesting to watch. I should latch myself to DD’s arms whenever the scary parts come in.
We had to attend a wedding in Bishan Park II in the evening. The toughest part was getting a taxi to the place. No taxis were available at 4.30pm because the double charge starts at 5pm. I thought the LTA had a ruling? The second part was w Read more:Labels
Mr Dumbass Clogged Junction 2007-09-27 09:27:33 It rained heavily this morning. I was contemplating staying at home to catch up with my beauty sleep but since I’m taking 5 days leave next week for Bali, I had to leave the house regretfully. The rain was still pouring. So, I tried to wait for the bus to bring me to the MRT station. However, 3 buses arrived but not to the MRT station that I wanted to go to. That was after 15 minutes. I was getting late for work.
The bus finally arrived but it was full. The next bus arrived soon after, it was full too! WTH? Why can’t they get more buses during wet days?!
Frustrated, I left the bus stop and tried to flag for a taxi. It was an expensive trip. I still had to get to work, so I boarded it. While we took an alternative route since PIE is always jammed during peak hours, we saw an educated man in his 20s trying to turn left in the middle lane. The reason was he was rushing for something. Work, most likely. The traffic lights were down for that junction and this Champagne Gold Cefi Read more:Junction
Are Extra Income Illegal? 2007-10-11 04:24:28 For a domain with a name that’s considered spam and a PageRank of 0, even in my own pingback, I sure have gathered more spammers loving this blog. Anyway, that’s not the main issue here.
My colleague was asking how and why working during the weekends doing other things apart from the full time job that you have is considered illegal to the company. The only answer or conclusion I could come up with was “focus”.
I’m sure those of you who are working in companies have signed the contract that states “no other activities shall be conducted to the effect that you have additional income” or something to that effect. In one word, moonlighting is a big no-no to the company.
No company wants their employees to leave so fast. No company wants to put up recruitment notices after a few months or every few months.
My guess is that companies want their employees to be focused. They want to be able to call them up to return to the office for any emergencies Read more:Extra

Insult Them and You Insult Yourself 2007-10-08 22:43:25 We encounter discriminations all the time. It’s just that we close one eye to it and let it be if we are tolerable. However, I find it terribly rude of this aunty whose thinking/experience has muddied her views on Chinese from China. I thought we are Chinese too? Well, not all of us. She decided to insult the people from China in the train loudly by berating them for being rude.
I don’t mind someone stating loudly that the kids shouldn’t be playing in a moving train but she decided to declare all China people are rude. Oh my. Reminds me of this other incident I had on my way to work the other morning about China people telling some Singaporean to move in.
Our ancestors came from China to seek better lives and we decided to insult those who didn’t have theirs come here to setup their lives. Such disgrace. They speak loudly but that doesn’t mean they are rude. It’s their way of life there. What if you think by migrating to another country like UK and t Read more:Insult

Lessons in Bali 2007-10-08 09:44:53 This trip to Bali has taught me a few things.
Always negotiate the price with the driver.
If you want a guided tour, be prepared to pay for prices for food that are over-priced and taste lousy or can be bought at cheaper prices elsewhere.
Prepare itinerary and stick to it.
Plan on days where you can swim.
Don’t watch scary movies if you want to be romantic. We were watching some scary movie while DD was trying to sing a lullaby and I screamed during the scary part. He got scared too. Oops.
For Jimbaran seafood, they have lots of restaurants, choose the ones that are mostly recommended online. Taxi drivers recommend expensive ones.
If there is free taxi back to the hotel, take it. Ask if they provide that.
Avoid the stall holders. They are very aggressive. I was caught by this lady who refused to let go of my arm despite my best attempts. DD had to pull me away before she gave up her “1 Ringgit” talk. Did I mention that I lost my passion for shopping there?

Check-in Ritz Carlton 2007-10-07 22:27:51 While I enjoyed the stay at Hard Rock, it was time to check in Ritz Carlton
. I managed to get a friend to check if I could get a free upgrade to villa and all I had to do was to SMS him the day before. I sent 2 SMS that never got to him because Singtel’s partners had only 3 networks that supports GlobalSMS. I forgot which network I was using but the SMS never got received and I never got my free upgrade.
The driver drove us to the hill that Ritz Carlton was located at. I love the view but the drive up sure was long. We had welcome drinks and cold towels. How wonderful. DD loved the cold towels. As we engaged the driver’s services for the next day to bring us to places we haven’t been to, I decided to explore Ritz as it would be too dark during the evening. They don’t install street lamps there.
Ritz has a lot of swimming pools. There’s the wedding reception area facing the sea. What a wonderful place to hold ROM. Unfortunately, how the heck am I supposed t Read more:Check
Kuta Experience 2007-10-07 09:25:42 During my stay at Hard Rock Hotel Bali, I noticed that a lot of Americans, British, Australians and other western countries love to stay there. My best guess is that it’s just 5 minutes walk to the Kuta beach. The huge waves are great for practicing the surfing skills, no, not surfing the net. DD wanted to learn but didn’t want to leave me alone on the beach because of the aggressive sellers at the beach. We ended up walking along the sandy beach while getting tan from the hot sun.
The beach wasn’t crowded. Could be due to the aftermath of the bomb and the fact that it was weekday. The staff at Hard Rock were very friendly and helpful. The spa with the foot massage was great. I wished we had the cash to take on the full package though. The foot massage made me very relaxed. During the day, we walked about the streets and had a back massage.
Their aggressiveness in selling their wares turn me off though. I prefer to look through the stuff before deciding to buy without
Check-In Hard Rock Bali 2007-10-06 22:47:35 Our flight was supposed to be flying off at 1855 but we took off at 1920. Oh well, at least the delay wasn’t more than an hour. The meal on board was average because number one, I had meals on board JetStar Asia (Bangkok) and SIA and none of my vegetarian meals had any meat. Garuda Indonesia gave me some sort of meat, I believe it was mutton, for my evening meal. DD looked at it and had question marks on his face. I gave to him after I had finished the Maggie Mee.
The plane itself was tiny. I didn’t have much space and envied the Executive class. We had a free transfer from the airport to Hard Rock
Hotel since I had booked a package from the tour agency. The car was comfy and I tried to look out of the window en route. Unfortunately, the streets weren’t brightly lit. The only lights that come out were from the buildings.
I had told DD that we may have free upgrade to Deluxe Room since we were checking in quite late. He didn’t believe me. Well, when we reached th Read more:Check
