Ad Photographers Show Why They Are Good
2007-11-17 18:53:14
Whenever I’m at weddings or gatherings, I try to bring my beloved S5 IS along to capture the beautiful and awkward moments. There times I wished to have a better camera that is able to capture that right moment, as in no blurry objects, no red-eye effects, clearer macro objects and many more. Taking a look at those advertising posters, I feel envious because they are able to capture that moment that may not come again. They even managed to capture the right mood for the poster that meant something. Animal photography is of another matter. It’s never easy but when I see blogs that contain animal photos with a certain pose, I feel so inadequate. Now, with the advice of those in Still Print, I won’t have to worry about taking another not perfect photo for that moment I want to capture in time. Looking at those various photos that show you the numerous shots they have taken and attempting to read the meaning behind the photos, one can’t help but wonder, do I have wh

Lack of Sleep
2007-11-17 18:40:28
After attending the wedding, I still have a headache. Despite going to sleep early, well, 11pm is not exactly early for a headache to subside. Now, it’s not so painful since I made myself sleep. However unsoundly. Tossing and turning in bed just doesn’t cut it for a restful rest. It’s not easy since it’s a hot night. I woke up at 6.14am because there was a bright light. Yes, a lamp could have been used but the room light was used instead. I can’t control who switch it on unless I programme the lights to be available during certain hours on different days. Aye, that would be really be nice and I would get my beauty sleep. I wished to be in my cozy bed now but I have an appointment to do my hair and some shopping to do. The failure of buying that top DD chose for me just made me want to buy it even more. Hopefully, I’ll be able to buy something for the evening wear. © WishBoNe for A Mind of My Own, 2007. | Permalink | No comme

Adventures from Travel Stories Blog
2007-11-17 18:30:17
I love to travel. However, choosing a destination can be a headache because of the worries about an unknown place. In addition, you have think about the type of package you would be looking at, hotels to stay in, social security of the place, itinerary, number of days to stay in order to make full use of the visit and type of clothes to wear. With just the package type, you have 2 choices, free and easy or take the planned package from the travel agency. For some countries, taking the free and easy package is not a major issue as you can explore the country with ease. For others, you would read up stories about the destination of your choice before making the decision of going or not. It’s not too difficult to get people’s stories about their trips. Here, Travel Story Blog collects anecdotes from travelers. You can read about Las Vegas, the famous casino strip, New York and much more. With real people’s experience and their adventures while holidaying, you just have t

Wet Church ROM
2007-11-17 03:42:46
While this wasn’t the 1st time I’ve attended a church wedding, this was the 1st time I’ve managed to view it from the start to the end. I was very late the other time. I got off at the wrong stop. That’s another story to tell. I doubt I’ll talk about it much. There were singing and the speech from the Father about marriage being life-long commitment. Yes, marriage is a life-long commitment. You don’t just say “I do” and expect miracles. Both have to work together and sort things out. I saw a lot of young teens attending the event and they were lost about what went on. I don’t know the bride personally but she is their teacher and when they came, she kept waving to them. Shows how much care she has for them and their love for her too. There was the bouquet being throw at the end, even the guys got the chance to catch it. DD was too tired to catch it. All the guys never slept the previous night and had to reach the groom’s place

Buy, Buy, Buy!
2007-11-17 03:30:56
Whenever I am invited to attend a wedding or ROM, I have to buy new clothes. With 2 weddings coming up, this was no exception. I went shopping with NL and HF. After walking for 3 hours, we ended up with a pair of shoes. Only NL managed to buy something. Although the main focus was supposed to be a white top for the morning. I’m not going to get anything at this rate. The wedding is in less than a week and all I have is something for the morning but not for the evening. Panic is setting in and I don’t wish to end up buying something that I won’t be able to wear the next round. Perhaps I should be able to wear it for the other wedding since the people attending it are different. Save money in this case. The problem with buying new clothes means that I have to buy shoes, accessories, bag and suitable inner beauties. Buying clothes can be painful and expensive. I’m so overspending now. Not to mention Chinese New Year clothes too. © WishBoNe for A

Inspiration From The Loo
2007-11-16 02:55:44
While in the toilet, I was thinking of how this blog is going. It’s started to gain more sponsored posts because of my activeness in looking out for them in Blogitive. It’s been rather difficult to look out for the posts because you have to reserve the links you want to post about. There’s no email either. The toilet has often been my inspiration. It’s quiet despite the flushing. It’s a time where it’s “Me” time. Now, where was I again? Oh, the path that this blog is going. It seems to be going nowhere at this moment due to my constant posting of sponsored posts. Anyway, this was started because I wanted to store my thoughts and memories and rants in case I grow old and forgetful. It feels like deja vu. I think I’ve posted this before. It’s a pity that I don’t celebrate blog birthdays. Perhaps I should and give away something for free besides link love. © WishBoNe for A Mind of My Own, 2007. | Perm

Broken Family Trusts
2007-11-16 01:43:15
A father is someone who you trust because he is your family member. You won’t expect him to take advantage of you. You expect him to take care of you and love you. Unfortunately, there are fathers who betray your trust by taking advantage of you. Some even kill. Take this father of 3 young boys from ages two to ten. He killed them by drowning them in a dam near his home in Winchelsea in the southeastern state of Victoria on September 4, 2005. How horrible. Another father tried to make advances on his 17-year-old daughter and when he was refused, he decided to kill her and himself. The horrible thing is when parents cage their children. The kids have to wear remote controlled shock collar, used to train animals. Why would they treat their own kids so terribly? © WishBoNe for A Mind of My Own, 2007. | Permalink | No comment This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 License.

I Don’t Want to Talk to You. Just Shut Up.
2007-11-22 18:51:37
It was the usual routine getting into the train and nap during my 45 minutes ride. When the train pulled away from Sembawang, I overhead this argument (aye, our never ending woes trying to board the train and squeezing into the crowded train). Brown shoes (BS): Can you move in? (stern tone) Black bag (BB): Why should I move in? BS: There’s space over there! BB: You don’t push, ok? BS: Then you move in! BB: Why should I move in? (and a whole lot things that I can’t recall). BS: I don’t want to talk to you. BB: You think I want to talk to you? You are so rude, ok. BS: Ok, ok, I don’t want to talk to you. Just shut up. BB: So rude. All this while, I was thinking, can the two of you just shut up? Just look at the size of BB and the space that is available. BB can’t fit into that small space. BS, you got parallax error. After that, BS tried to read Today but failed to enjoy it. I think BS was the one needing more space due to his favourite way to pass the

I Call Stomp Then You Know
2007-11-22 09:26:03
I’m overdoing it. I bought a new dress, French manicure, pedicure and changed my hairstyle. And it’s not my wedding. Or I seriously lack such pampering and doing all of them in one go. My pockets are screaming “NO! STOP!” And this boy tried to destroy my pedicure while attempting to snatch that seat in the crowded MRT. For God’s sake, YOU DON’T STEP ON MY NEW PEDICURE! I would be asking for compensation. And I don’t care how ugly I looked at that moment. Even better, I call Stomp. Unfortunately or fortunately, he didn’t destroy my pedicure, merely missed it by millimetres. And Miss Loi, where you got your nail art done? Mine was at Nail @ The Lacquer Room (VivoCity, level 2). Quite nice. I have to stop myself from buying new shoes. I will be going for lelong at this rate if the shoe buying spree is not curbed. Note to self: It’s not my wedding. One advice for the mother, can at least control your kid or not? How can he squeeze all o

More Surcharge for Taxis, Great, Ain’t It?
2007-11-19 02:53:50
Thanks for the raise. The surcharge for taxis based on locations that MP Seng Tan Thong is proposing now. He’s proposing that the surcharges be deployed to locations such as Raffles Place, shopping malls, pubs, etc. Wow. MP Seng is very thoughtful. Thanks hor. Now I know that I have to pay for midnight charges, morning peak hour charges, weekend peak hour charges, booking charges, CBD charges, and other various charges of different names that I can’t possibly remember. So, all these charges are supposed to do something? Like make those taxis appear out of thin air? Wow. The surcharges and other what-nots sure can do magic, ya? Did I mention that I spent $18 in the morning during peak hours just to get to work? Oh, I did. Why not get rid of the charges and save us some headache instead. Just charge us for a boarding fare of $5 and the route charges. That’ll save a lot of calculating what time to take a taxi and where too. Let’s make the formula less complicated,

Find The Right Match
2007-11-19 00:04:09
Upon graduation, we have to look for jobs. We will try via friends, recruitment agencies and online resources. With all these resources, we hope to land with a job that will offer lucrative remuneration so that we can work towards our retirement plan. It’s a bonus when we meet recruiters who match us with the job that we are looking for. With human resources, engineering, information technology and risk management jobs available, we can be assured that we’ll be matched with the correct job. When we encounter an experienced recruitment agency like A.E. Feldman Associates, Inc., we can be assured that we’ll be given the right match. From the middle to management levels. Wedding Outfit Woes
2007-11-18 20:38:07
I spent 2 hours at the hair salon for my scalp treatment. Actually, I was late by 20 minutes. I think I caught the “late” bug from someone. Anyway, since I had to get a nice outfit for the coming wedding, 24th Nov isn’t too far away, I went down to Vivocity as it seemed to have more variety of clothes. Aye, there was a wide variety alright. I tried a bustier that costs $249. I looked average in it. For a wedding dinner, I doubt it was really worth it to wear it. Although I could still wear it to another dinner next month, I felt that it was simply too expensive. I have to look for another outfit before the wedding. I still have to make sure the shoes will go with the outfit and I don’t think I have any nice pair to go with. I haven’t found a wedding-ish bag either. I wonder why am I shopping for such things until the very week the dinner is to be held. I wonder if I’d be able to get anything that is worthy of being the receptionist dress at the dinne

The More We Get Together
2007-11-28 21:31:19
You never know what you’ll get in life. Even when you have planned for it. Life can be so fragile. One minute, you are there and the next, you might not be there. While I was really excited to be one of sisters for my friend’s wedding, the whole event was tiring as we had to wake up early. It was after the event was over then I started to feel a sense of lost. It was a lost of youth and time. It felt like yesterday when we were in school teasing each other and skipping classes. Just the Chinese lessons. We would often complain about how she would tell us proudly that some elite school would do so much better. We were in a neighbourhood school, what else did she expect? Growing and moving on in our lives have impact, both major and minor. We start dating or flying to countries for business or start our own business. We meet up in a group during a major event such as funeral or wedding or babies one month celebration. Other than that, it’s via pitiable emails and they a

Choosing a Reliable Online Casino
2007-11-27 18:49:45
Everyone knows that we’ll be building casinos in the small island of Sentosa. While it is physical, some of you may know that there are online casinos too. You just need a broadband subscription, modem and a computer to connect and the site. However, how do we know which online casino is reliable? Pro360 will be able to help us here. We want to be able to get our real money back and not be cheated in poker like another case I read. You get a range from online poker, craps, slots and online roulette. Here, the ratings of the casinos are rated by the players and editor of Pro360. A comparison chart is shown sorted by the highest rating given by the editor with links to a detailed review done by Pro360. By using this site, you get a better idea of online casinos. While I don’t advocate gambling online, one ought to practise moderation. Knowing when to stop is important. © WishBoNe for A Mind of My Own, 2007. | Permalink | One comment This work is licensed

Wedding Dinner - 24 Nov
2007-11-26 03:15:59
By evening, I was starting to wind down. I stole a 30-minute nap at home which helped me to last till 1am. That was how late it was. I had to keep my hair styling appointment. The 8 course dinner was served quite timely. However, by the 5th dish, everyone was full and the food started to get wasted. The photo montage showed the bride’s and groom’s lives, a few photos of me were also included. Good friend with the bride, so I was rather honoured to be included too. I was to be the receptionist with HF and we were, unfortunately, late to take up our places. Touching up sure took up a lot of time. The guests had arrived and we started taking down their attendance. I was starting to get tired. By 8.25pm, we left the reception table as 98% of the guests have arrived. We took our seats at the designated table and the dinner commenced. The bride and groom started their walk in after the photo montage. Dinner was served. Throughout the courses, I was thinking if the whole event cou

Before Entering the Bride’s Room
2007-11-25 20:02:02
The girls reached the bride’s place by 7.15am. HY, WL and me were the earliest. I did give an early morning call. We were there by 6.35am. The rest of the sisters told me, “Thanks but no thanks, you don’t have to give me morning call.” My heart broke into tiny little pieces. When the rest of the sisters arrived, we started our strategy for getting more ang baos from the brothers. We closed wooden door after the grille gate was double-locked. Purpose was to get one ang bao before opening the wooden door. The guys tried to haggle for the door to open saying it was easier. There was no way they could get it opened so easily. There was an ang bao alright. $10. How miserly, right? We managed to get more when we complained loudly that he didn’t want to get his bride. Thus, the torture started. We had sour, sweet, bitter and spicy for them. The lime lemons were supposed to be sour but they ended up sweet. What a waste. Next was the sweet, some honey and sugar cub

Conversations at 4.30AM
2007-11-25 19:27:13
I woke up at 4.30am and gave 2 morning calls for HY and NL. Super early for someone who lives near the bride, eh? Me: Morning, wake up. NL: Who’s this? Me: Your friend la! NL: (paused) Oh. Ok, ok. I get up. I cried a bit. No la, no real tears. It was too early a morning call. Me: Morning, wake up. HY: Huh? What? Me: What what? Wake up le! Ask me to give you morning call hor! HY: Oh, sorry (laughing) I didn’t have enough sleep. Me: (my heart started bleeding at this point) Well, time to wake up. And I went to wash the week’s clothes and get a bath. © WishBoNe for A Mind of My Own, 2007. | Permalink | No comment This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 License.

Van Hogging Right Lane
2007-12-05 20:41:31
I brought along my digital camera and tripod only to realise that I had forgotten to slot in my SD card. It was still inside my laptop the last time I uploaded some photos. I only discovered this when I wanted to take photos of this van that was hogging the right most lane on the expressway. G license plates are not supposed to hog the fast lane unless turning right or doing U-turn but this driver wanted to hug that lane because it was supposedly faster. Yeah, right. With your van being able to run at less than 100kmh, you still want to hog that lane? With the heavy rain last evening, the traffic was slow and congested almost every where. With this red van, it added on to one more idiot on the road. Should have Stomp-ed the van. © WishBoNe for A Mind of My Own, 2007. | Permalink | No comment This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 License.

Providing Better Care
2007-12-05 19:14:18
As we grow older, we get more aches here and there. In addition, illnesses such as stroke, heart attacks or Alzheimer’s Disease strike, rendering us helpless. At this time, we need help. Many years ago, my paternal grandfather was down with Stage IV stomach cancer. He was brought home to be cared for by the family members who would take turns to take care of his basic needs such as bathing, eating and other business. While a nursing home could have been better in providing the needs, but as an old and dying man, he preferred to be at home. It is often a great help if you can look at the options provided and Bettercaring is able to answer questions that we want answered such as the steps needed for caring a person at your own home as it’s your first time and financial portions that is often the major factor in caring. You can even take part in the community in Bettercaring forum asking for advice from those who could be facing the same issues as you do or help others. When i

Kids Have No Manners These Days!
2007-12-01 07:02:32
It must be my bad day. Or just my luck to bump into 2 idiots. No, wait. I can’t label them. I just had bad encounters, that’s all. Now, why did I encounter them? First, I was at NTUC with my mum and we were buying the food stuffs. While waiting, I got stuck in the tiny aisle and decided to look for my mum who said she was going to get a basket. I was looking after the trolley so, I wanted to push it. However, there was this young boy who was in the middle of it and I said, “Excuse me,” politely, mind you. He stood to the side and shook his head at me as if I was the idiot who didn’t know how to phase through him. “Tsk tsk tsk” was all he said. Look, boy, I am not David Copperfield. I can’t do magic. Neither am I Criss Angel. So, you don’t “tsk” at me. Maybe I should have scolded him, “You were the ONE WHO BLOCKED THE PATH! HOW DARE YOU THINK I’M WRONG! 没家教!” Kids, these days, have no manners. Ever Stop and Listen?
2007-11-30 03:18:53
Have you ever really stopped your input during the time when someone pours out their woes to you? Stopped your scalding input that they should stop whining and get going? When you are down, what would you wish to do? Brawl your eyes out? Pick a fight with someone? Smash all the fragile items? Go on an expensive shopping spree? Talk to someone who will just comfort you and let you vent your steam? Take out your frustration at anything that annoys you normally but this time makes you lose your temper? After talking, do you feel satisfied or your moodiness starts to go away? Do you have a downtime? A time when you often feel unsatisfied that life doesn’t seem to go the way you have imagined? My downtime is now.
