Kite Surfing
2007-03-18 15:49:00
Kitesurfing, also known as kite surfing, fly surfing, and kiteboarding, involves using a power kite to pull the rider through the water on a small surfboard, a wakeboard, or a kiteboard.A kitesurfer uses a board with foot-straps or bindings, combined with the power of a large controllable kite to propel himself and the board across the water. However, this simplicity also makes kitesurfing challenging. A kitesurfer's body is the only connection between the kite and the board. The kite is piloted in the sky while the board is steered on the water. The sport is still in its infancy, but is rapidly growing in popularity. Kite Surfing in Fiji is slowly on the rise, and in Pacific Harbour most weekends you will find a few adventurous souls taking on the elements.

Airlines Body Sees End Of Paper Tickets In 2008
2007-09-06 19:01:00
From: ReutersPublished August 30, 2007GENEVA - The global airlines body IATA said on Monday it had placed its last order for paper tickets, clearing the way for air travel to be based entirely on electronic ticketing from June 1 next year."In just 278 more days, the paper ticket will become a collector's item," said Giovanni Bisignani, director general of the International Air Transport Association. The changeover from paper would not only cut airlines' costs by $9 for every traveller but would also mean the industry - criticised by environmentalists for its part in global warming - would save 50,000 mature trees a year, he added.Bisignani did not say whether the $9 in cost savings would or should be passed on to passengers.Based in Geneva, IATA represents more than 240 airlines which operate 94 percent of scheduled international flights.Non-IATA airlines, mainly low-cost carriers like the Irish Ryanair and the British Easyjet, already have a paper-free ticket system where travellers

A sevusevu is an offering of the kava root, and is involved in all Fijian ceremonies. A bundle of kava root is offered as a gift, a gesture of respect and good will towards the community. As a gesture of respect towards the people of Fiji and their beliefs, we organised for a sevusevu to be performed on all of our waterfront properties in Pacific Harbour. The chiefs and priest of the villages on whose land the properties are located blessed us with their presence and performed a ceremony on the beachfront and waterfronts lots and the waterfront villas. We in turn presented the chief, priest and chosen villagers with a tabua and kava root. The priest offered his blessing as did the chief as the kava was shared amongst those present. Our properties are now blessed by the ancient gods.Vinaka Vaka Levu.
