10L$/30 Minutes @ Knop’nShop
2007-11-25 21:31:25
Located at Marcell (86, 202, 94), Knop’nShop offers Camping rates of 10L$ per 30 minutes. They have this fairly large disco setup where zombie like avatars dance for Linden Dollars. Because of too many lights, the area took sometime to load and the area is very much full. I manage to see one empty Dance Pad allowing me to see the current Camping rate which is set to 10L$ per 30 minutes. I think that’s pretty fair! Adding this place to your current Camping locations wouldn’t be so bad but hurry I don’t think that rate will last that long. Update: Thanks to jay for pointing out that the dance pads are set to group only.  Joining the group is free and you can easily find the group by searching “Knop’nShop” under group search. ©2007 Kabalyero. The 25,000L$ Survey Bot
2007-11-25 15:28:28
Back at Sony & BMG Island, there is an avatar named Connor Tomorrow which was a Survey Bot for SL (Second Life) Reasearch Group. It was conducting a survey on Real Life brands and in that particular case the brand was Sony & BMG. Those who’ll take the survey will be eligible to a draw where a total of 25,000L$ will be given away. Taking the survey was easy, you just need to send an Instant Message to Connor Tomorrow and say SURVEY (all caps). It will activate him and he will give you all the details regarding the survey like who is conducting it and the breakdown of prizes. 25,000L$ is very encouraging so I took the survey and it only took a couple of minutes. It basically just asked questions about Sony & BMG, it’s artist, the island, etc. So, it wouldn’t be so difficult and I might even win some Linden Dollars from it. I also searched for SL Research Group and they do exist. I even visited their in-world office. There was really nothing to see there bu

Games For Kids
2007-11-25 09:00:06
We all know that Teens are not allowed in Second Life but fortunately for them there is Teen Second Life. Now, what about the really young ones? There’s absolutely no Second Life for them but that doesn’t mean they can’t have fun, right? Well, there are so many gaming websites and games out there that cater to kids and one website or company that provide such games is Midoritech. They have games for kids like the Beauty Salon which is a manga style dress up game and the Lady Bug, a really cute game that will challenge and stimulate your kids’ thinking and color recognition skill and at the same time have fun. Midoritech has pc games, mac games and even online versions of their games. By the way, adults can play them too. LOL! ©2007 Kabalyero. All Rights Reserved..

Rom visits Sony & BMG Island/Sim
2007-11-25 05:11:33
Remember the 700L$ Reperes-Second Life survey? The survey required respondents to visit 1 Real Life brand’s island or sim from their given list. I chose to visit Sony & BMG Island and while I was there I took a video of my visit. The survey also required respondents to submit 2 or 3 screenshots and so I did. I took 2 screenshots and submitted them to Reperes-Second Life and today I received the second part of the survey and completed it. In 10 days I’ll be 700L$ richer. LOL! Anyway, I hope you enjoy my simple video of my visit to Sony & BMG Island. ©2007 Kabalyero. All Rights Reserved..

4L$/20 Minutes Camping @ The Roman Empire
2007-11-24 03:52:49
The Roman Empire is a sim inspired by, none other than, the Roman Empire. They have this huge coliseum where gladiator fights are held. They also have some Camping devices that pays 4L$ every 20 minutes and no they are not dance pads, see the photos. LOL! Well, if you don’t mind hanging around on your neck then why not. Go for it! Just remember that Camping rates are never permanent. Rates change all the time. Happy Camping! ©2007 Kabalyero. All Rights Reserved..

Ahh! Windlight O_o
2007-11-23 19:33:52
With Linden Labs hyping the Windlight First Look Viewer so much that I finally gave in to my curiosity. I downloaded, installed and logged on to Second Life with it. But first, I think they’ve resolved some issues with Second Life because my computer hasn’t freeze for 2 days now. Now back to Windlight, I did feel that the Windlight Viewer is a little bit better than the regular viewer and I’m not talking about graphics quality or the new environment enhancements. No, I’m talking about performance. It renders and draws objects faster and the choppiness that I’ve always experienced was greatly reduced. So, if they were able to improve Second Life’s performance with the first look viewer then why can’t they apply this improvements (less the enhanced environment and other eye candies) to the regular/non-windlight viewer? I guess we’ll just have to wait for the next update and I’m sure that many residents will be happy if the regular vie

My New Skin
2007-12-10 10:16:22
Before, I thought that I would never buy a new skin but I was wrong. Today, I found myself shopping for a new skin and using Second Life’s new search tool I went from one store to another. My budget for a new skin was only 2,000L$ and I told myself that I would not spend anything more than that. I found some shops that sell skins for only 500L$ and another for 700L$. I even saw some that were selling at 250L$ to 350L$ but I didn’t buy from them because many of them looked copied. While I was searching for more skin shops, Isadora Fiddlesticks of HodgePodge Magazine ecstatically blurted out in the Filipino group chat how beautiful the skins in Minnu were. I immediately searched for Minnu, found it and teleported there. I found her looking at some female skins and even tried one. I then left her and went to the Male section of the shop. There weren’t too many selections but at first glance I know that these were the skins I was looking for. I selected the shaved tan

Update To My Little Philippines
2007-12-10 06:11:08
Last week, my very helpful landlord sent all my objects back to me. No, he was not evicting me but instead he was helping me with some problems on the land where my place is located. The problem was, while working on My Little Philippines , I tried to rez some grass by dragging it on the ground. The grass didn’t rez so I tried again and every time it didn’t rez I will try again and again. What I didn’t notice was that even though the grass didn’t rez it still used a prim bringing my prim number closer to the limit. This was clearly a bug and after trying everything we can my landlord suggested to clear the parcel of all my objects by returning them to me and then just rebuild or put everything back. At first I didn’t want to do it but because there was no other way I agreed to it. All my objects were returned to me which cleared the land of all the objects including the bugged grass objects. I then started to put everything back. Putting the objects back wa

SL Botanical Garden
2007-12-10 02:29:22
I did some exploring today because I was capturing some video clips for a brief Second Life video for a real life magazine. One of the places I visited was the SL Botanical Garden . The botanical garden is not just on a small parcel of land, it is on an island in its own sim and it’s very beautiful. You can spend your entire day just looking at the beauty and elegance of the place and with Winglight, you will be able to take some nice snapshots of the place. The place is big but I was able to visit the Greenhouse and see the beautifully made Waterfalls. If your real life is giving you too much stress or you just need a good place to relax and enjoy the scenery then you must visit SL Botanical Gardens. ©2007 Kabalyero. All Rights Reserved..

Mysterious Windlight Bug
2007-12-09 18:43:34
I kinda like the Windlight First Look Viewer than the standard viewer because I feel that it’s more stable and loads faster but it does have some bugs in it too. A few days ago Linden Labs released another update to Windlight and it includes some bug fixes but there is one bug that keeps happening to me and that is the disappearing objects bug. Well, the objects were not really disappearing because they are still there physically but visually they are gone. At first, I thought that the viewer could be reloading them but that was not the case. The objects were already loaded and I can select them. The only problem was that I can’t seem to see any of them once they disappear and the objects were not transparent. It’s not a major issue because it can be fixed by logging out and logging back in but it can be sometimes annoying to suddenly see your building without a wall. LOL! And another thing I like about the Windlight First Look Viewer, the save a movie feature works b

Shoes and Eyeglasses
2007-12-09 03:38:13
To complete my new outfit, I also need to find and buy a new pair of shoes and eyeglasses so again I hit search. I first searched for a pair of formal shoes though I easily found some shops but their shoes wasn’t really that good for the price they are offering. My search led me to SF Designs and there I found a very nice looking pair of shoes called SFD Tripper Lace Ups. It’s only 200L$ and it looks really nice. There were 3 sizes (small, medium and large) so to make sure that it fits my avatars appearance I tried the demo first and the medium size fits perfectly. For the eyeglasses, I went to the shop that loaded fast, the ones I first went to took a lot of time to rez, and that was the primOptic shop. The eyeglasses are scripted but I don’t see myself using any of its many features. I guess that will conclude my personal shopping for the moment and my tip to everyone, if there is a demo version of the item you wish to buy then don’t hesitate to try the demo

New Suit for only 600L$
2007-12-08 21:26:39
Now that I have some new hairs, I thought that I should compliment it with a new suit. For my new suit, I still prefer it to be Philippine inspired and there is only one place I know in Second Life that has Philippine inspired suits and that is Casa De Shai. The suit I bought is named the Luna Suit which I assumed was named after two of my country’s great heroes, Antonio and Juan Luna, and it cost only 600L$. The snapshot was taken at Mt Kiribati, Irukandji National Park using the latest Windlight viewer. I think it looks nice even though it wasn’t enhanced by Photoshop or any graphics/image/photo editor. The suit worked well with the hairs except for one, the Lajon Hair Sytle, but still I’m very happy with it. Maybe next month I’ll buy a new suit and I’m thinking of another Barong would be nice. ©2007 Kabalyero. All Rights Reserved..

Affordable Hairs For Men
2007-12-08 14:47:09
Second Life men are almost like a minority compared to the number of Second Life women and this is sometimes true when shopping for items for men. Almost everywhere you go there is an abundance of items for women. Today I decided to buy my avatar a new hair or in this case new hairs. Using the new search tool I found a lot of shops selling hair but after visiting 2 shops which only sells women’s hair I decided to refine my search and I found Simply Britnee Mens Outlet. The shop was filled with men’s hair in various styles and they’re only 150L$. After looking at all the hair styles available, I then bought four different hair styles for a total of 600L$. Hair Styles: BlackJack and Ghaun Hair Styles: Lajon and Canielm I like the Canielm style the best and I least like Lajon. Why did I buy it? Well, it looked really nice on the picture but unfortunately it doesn’t look good on my avatar. To avoid doing the same mistake again, I decided to try the demos fi

Be Smart, Be With Smorty
2007-12-08 01:07:25
In my search to find ways to earn a few dollars from my blogs I stumbled upon Smorty. Smorty provides a service where advertisers can connect through bloggers and advertise their products or services with them. These advertisers will then create an opportunity which bloggers can accept and after accepting the opportunity, bloggers will then create a post on their blogs informing or introducing, and yes even reviewing, the advertisers’ product, service and even website. This setup or process is oftentimes called blog advertising. Advertisers have been using blogs as a medium to advertise their products or services for years and with companies like Smorty, connecting advertisers with bloggers just got easier. So, if you have a blog and you are looking for a way to earn a few bucks from it then why not join Smorty. ©2007 Kabalyero. All Rights Reserved..

They could be using pagerank in their evaluation of blogs behind the scenes but on the front end they clearly didn’t indicate it so I’ll safely assume that they are not using it all.
