Tough! Really! Tough! I found out that Linden Labs has released a new set of last names, so I went to Second Life’s website to check them out. One of the last name added to the list was “Morales” and at that instant the name “Erik Morales” popped into my mind. Erik Morales is a former WBC/WBO World Champion, now retired. He was defeated by Manny Pacquiao twice.

Ruth is the default Second Life avatar shape and sometimes (hopefully, not often) you’ll find or see your avatar Ruthed1. This happens when your avatar didn’t load properly or failed to load due to lag and/or due to other forms of Second Life problems. It’s really freaky, specially for male avatars, seeing yourself with boobs. Ewwwww! Now you can say goodbye to Ruth with Autoderuth by Dougal Jacobs . I found a post about it at Linden Lifestyles and thought that it’s a pretty nice tool to have since I sometimes also experience this Ruthing thing. Autoderuth is a simple HUD which you have to wear and click to fix your appearance. Don’t be surprised if you are launched way up into the sky. According to Dougal Jacobs, “that’s how it works”. OnRez Second Life Viewer and CSI:New York

Today I downloaded and installed OnRez’s version of Second Life’s viewer and I must say that it has a very nice interface. Here are some screenshots of OnRez’s Second Life Viewer . The release coincides with CSI:New York ’s episode about a case which will take the investigators into the virtual world of Second Life. You can get a copy of OnRez’s Second Life Viewer at viewer.onrez.com. That’s not all, you can also visit a virtual version of CSI:New York (slurl), which was created for the episode, in-world and you can also create new accounts through Electric Sheep’s CSI:NY Second Life website. Oh, you can visit CSI:New York (slurl) in-world using the regular Second Life viewer, too. Using OnRez’s Second Life Viewer is not a requirement. It is optional but I suggest that you try OnRez’s Viewer. You might like it too.


The Missing Blog

First there was the case of “The Missing Avatar” and it’s a “Missing Blog”. Chino Yalin, a Second Life Blogger who blogs about Free Lindens in Second Life, posted in his blog that his avatar mysteriously vanish. Searchng for his name using Second Life’s people search resulted to nothing. Oh my! I’m guessing that this could be another one of Second Life’s many bugs. A while back, I encountered a bug that trapped one of my avatars in an endless loop of logging out and I’m happy to report that he is now FREE. It was posted a few hours ago at Second Life’s official blog that 1,100 regions went offline because of some grid failure thingy. It is possible that Chino’s avatar went missing together with the 1,100 regions that went down. LOL! CSI:New York meets Second Life

While doing some Googling1 I stumbled upon CSI:New York episode titled “Down the Rabbit Hole“. This is the episode that features everyones favorite metaverse, Second Life. The videos are just clips and do not complete the entire episode. The videos are from DailyMotion. I think if you are in the US you can watch the Full Episode at CBS’s website. If you wish to view 4 minutes of the episode (opening) then visit CSI:NY, Down the Rabbit Hole! I just love CSI, I get all three CSIs from a local cable channel and I think that this crossover between CSI:NY and Second Life will be good for Second Life because it will be getting a lot of mainstream exposure from this. Ruthed! Deruthed!

Speaking of being Ruthed1 I found my main avatar, Rom Ireton, Ruthed when I logged in to check on him today. Good thing I was wearing Dougal Jacob’s Autoderuth HUD but I decided to wait a few minutes to see if my shape will load before using the tool but my shape didn’t load. Using the tool, Autoderuth, wasn’t able to fix my appearance the first time. It took 2 or 3 more tries before it worked and that means being launched like a rocket up into the sky 2 to 3 times. Here is a Ruthed and Deruthed photo of my avatar, Rom Ireton! Too bad I missed the Ruthed! event last October 14, 2007. I have a lot of Ruthed photos of both Kabalyero Kidd and Rom Ireton. Never ending logout process!

Have you experienced being stuck in what like a never ending logout process? Well I have and I don’t know if the recently resolved login issues with Second Life had something to do with it. It’s like when I log in it will tell me that my avatar is logging out and it will be available in a few minutes but the few minutes had passed and when I try again the time just moves forward and forward making me unable to login. I kept on trying until I just gave up on it This problem started 2 days ago and look it is still in the logout process. My account is trapped in this, somewhat like an, infinite loop of logging out. I guess I’ll just wait it out and hope that my account gets free from this cycle soon.

For some weird reason, I found myself in a small office on a 512 sq2m lot. It was weird because I was supposed to land somewhere else. The small office has a sign that says Using the Soap Box and inside there was another sign with instructions on how to earn some Linden Dollars. Arrgghhh! What’s wrong with Second life?

These past few days I found my Second Life plagued with slow movements, high packet loss, rezzing failure, disconnection, crashes, missing assets, inability to login, getting trapped in a logout loop and others but the worst of them all is the extreme lag. The grid is so laggy and choppy that it took me 6 or 8 hours to accomplish easy tasks like building and moving really simple objects. At first I thought that it could be my connection but visiting Second Life’s blog I found out that Second Life is experiencing a lot of stability and server issues like the following: SF Hosted Regions Temporarily Offline Network issues currently affecting logins Momentary Login Failure for Some Residents Voice Chat Unavailable For New Conversations Wow! Four issues within a few days. Good thing I still have a First Life to worry about because if not I would be sitting on my chair pulling my hairs out right now (LOL). What really annoys me is that I don’t spend that much time anymore in-

Cutouts

A few days ago I tried my hands on doing some cutouts. Cutouts are images, pictures or photos that were carefully and cleanly (at least some are) cut around its edge, uploaded as a texture and placed on a prim. They are mainly used as decorations. I got the idea from AlphaQ Kidd who used to have a vendor at 3 Stars and a Sun. This is not the first time I’ve created cutouts. I’ve been doing cutouts for some time now but all the cutouts I made before were all for my personal use. Yesterday, I created 4 cutouts and they are all for decorative purpose only. You can use these cutouts to decorate your place (home, office, mall, shop, garden, beach, park, etc.) in Second Life. They are MOD/COPY so you can easily create more copies and change or modify their size and shape. You can even link them together or add your own script. Finally, after weeks of waiting, PayPerPost has accepted my blog, Kabalyero, into their get paid to blog program.
