Monday Meanderings 1970-01-01 00:59:59 It is finally cold for Florida standards, and personally I love it. I do not want to go into summer/hurricane season without feeling like I had NO winter at all. Thankfully it was beautiful Saturday, the day of my garage sale. The sale went very well, thank you for asking. I sold half of it and donated the rest of it. After I left the donation place, I drove straight over to Lowe's and bought some primer and a can of paint. I have (well had) one wall in my bedroom that was sponge painted different colors. I liked it, but I doubt when selling a house it is good idea to leave it that way. So I primed the wall Saturday afternoon (yes after the garage sale, yes I was crazy and very tired). Then after church on Sunday I painted the wall the same color as the rest of the walls. Now I just have the trim to do. So much to do, so little time. I try to only keep the "next step" in mind so I don't get overwhelmed. Manly man has been putting a lot of hours in at work, so Read more:Monday
I interrupt this "blog break" to just say..... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 There are only a few people I would follow to the ends of the earth with. Sorry I do love you all, but there are just some places I will not go. When it comes to manly man I go where he goes, when it comes to my kids, I go where they go, and yes when it comes to my hair dresser I go wherever she goes. I am following her to a new salon for the third time since she has begun cutting (and ahem…coloring) my hair.I came to her looking like a Mother of three boys! I looked run over, beat up and just plain "motherly". She transformed me into something reasonable and with each visit made me look more and more sassy. Now I don't know about you, but when I walk out feeling like a million bucks. I could almost pay her anything for the way she makes me feel; oh and my hair looks great too. I get a lot of compliments. My hair is the one thing in my life I spend money on. Now mind you I am not spending TONS of money, just enough to have a great cut and sassy color.I am just saying there is n Read more:interrupt

Allow Me To Introduce Someone to you...... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 He says he reads my blog, well we will see ;) This is my cousin Michael, who I am so proud of, my buttons are bursting. Michael's daddy (my Uncle) is one of my Uncles I grew up with. I was the little "tag along" niece to my college age Uncle. As awesome as my Uncle is, he has raised two awesome boys. And Michael is his oldest.Let me tell you a little bit about Michael, he has had a passion for missions for as long as I can remember (at least end of high school). While going to college he volunteered with the youth, Michael has a gift with electronics so he was able to help his church out with all the tech stuff. During college Michael took many mission trips, and God lit a fire in his belly for missions. Now he is ready for the ride of his life, he is moving over there. Currently he is finishing up his graduate level missions degree in Seminary. After he has raised his needed support he is moving to Latvia.Michael says, "My role in Lativia will be working with youth and train Read more:Allow
If you are having trouble commenting... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Don't worry you are not doing any thing wrong, blogger is being a bugger. I have posted on their help site to see if someone will come to my rescue. I am getting impatient....But I just want you to know I am aware of the problem and I hope it will be fixed soon. You can always email me at lrlwreath at gmail dot com =)))UPDATE:This is a bit confusing but it does work...sigh... Comments - Temporary Fix I know there are problems commenting on this blog. I've let Blogger know about the problem, and they are supposedly trying to figure it out. I found a temporary solution:Right click on the comments link and Open Link In New WindowIn the address bar, change the first part of the URL from http://www.blogger.com/... to https://www2.blogger.com/... (when you get the error message, just put a 2 behind the www keeping the same address)Then stand on your head, hold one arm in the air, and kick your legs then all should be

More than you probably every want to know ramblings... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I took a bit of a blogacation this week, but does not mean I did not write. This is my week in review.... Monday: The testing for my youngest son's reading went really well. The good news is that he loves the place, so that will make "going" a lot easier. Wednesday we go back to find out the results and to find out how much of a commitment this will be. Today middle son won his basketball game again (no last minute shots this time =); Saturday is tournament time. Worked on oldest son's paper on the Hurricane of 1928, I know more about that hurricane than any hurricane that happened in my lifetime! And for middle son's science fair project, we had to bring in our "science fair plants". It was like the weather KNEW we were trying something with plants, and then Florida decided to have its deep freeze. They seem to still be alive, which is an accomplishment in this household, so that is a good thing. Taking a bath, going to read a good book, and going to bed earl Read more:every

A famous Mom I would love to sit down with... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 What constitutes a famous Mom? I am not sure, in my opinion I think we are all famousif we live through motherhood. Crazy Hip Mama poses the question this week, "What famous Mom would you like to meet?"I would love to sit down and chat with Mrs. Ruth Bell Graham. Mrs. Bell Graham was born in China; she is the daughter of medical missionaries. She stayed there until she was 17 years old and then came over to the states to attend Wheaton College. It was there the Lord changed her life forever by falling in love with a man who will be known all over the world.Mrs. Graham is the mother to five children, 3 daughters and 2 sons. If that was not enough to keep you busy she founded Ruth and Billy Graham Children's Health Center. My reason for wanting to sit down with Mrs. Bell Graham is to ask her about raising her children. With her children's and grandchildren's lives there has been divorce, two prodigal children, early pregnancy, many, many painful times.Today we see Franklin as a lea
Thank you! 1970-01-01 00:59:59 In case you may have missed my cousin's comment in this post:So I just got a new laptop today as part of the stuff i needto head over to Latvia. I am a tech guy and needless to say, I am quite excited. Laptops rank over food sometimes in my book. I go and check my blog today, all of that other excitement fades away, and tears start coming to my eyes! WOW! I couldn't believe it! I never cry ;) THANKS SO MUCH! This weekend I was getting quite discouraged about this whole process of getting over there. This morning that was all changed. Thank

In "Other" Words... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 "I long to worship Jesus with the heartof a child, in a state of pure and trueadoration. Yet so many things of the world cloud my thoughts and pull onmy heart until it's no longer just a girl in the arms of the Father. "~Darlene Schacht~The Mom ComplexThey all marched up on stage with the girls in their pretty dresses smoothed down, hair all done up in bows. The boys with the belts a little crooked and dress shirt tucked in at the last moment by the music teacher. Then they all began to sing for the church audience. Some quietly sang while swinging their bodies to and fro. Some belted out each word of the song like their life depended on it and at least one or two got tired of standing already and decided to sing sitting on the stage steps. This is worshiping as a child, and very little is more beautiful to Jesus. There is no worry about singing on key, there is no worry about "what will people think if I sit down right here," no concern except singing the song to the best of t Read more:Words

Thankful Thursday 1970-01-01 00:59:59 The troubles of my heart are enlarged;bring me out of my distresses.Psalm 25:17I really really REALLY need to write this now. I need to get my focus on what I am thankful for, because it has been ONE of those days.1. I am thankful that my son is in tutoring two times a week and that he loves it!2. I am thankful that I had the money to do a big grocery shopping so my kids can stop eating the food crumbs off the floor. Life has been so busy even going to the grocery store has been difficult.3. I am thankful my husband can turn to me and know I will love him still when he tells me he dropped his brand new TREO in the toilet today at work. Did I say BRAND NEW TREO! Oh yeah this is a thankful post. I am thankful I still love him.4. I am thankful that I was able to go to my first theology class at church, I LOVED IT.5. I am thankful that despite the fact that my "fuel is low" light came on while driving to church, it was enough gas to last the whole hour and half I was in bible study Read more:Thankful

Just hear me out... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Ok let me just say I hesitated posting this. Just know this is not the opinion not anyone else's, and I guess it is my blog so I can give my opinions. I dislike Valentines. Wait! Before you click out of here, hear me out. Don't get me wrong, I love all the chocolate and candy I can get for great deals. I love the fact marital advice is given by wonderful people. And I love my husband greatly. But I don't like Valentine's Day. I will greatly enjoy everyone talking about love this week. And be sure to visit Sting My Heart because she is a wise and Godly example of this. I love learning about different ways I can love my husband. But for me it boils down to one word… Expectation. I don't like Valentine's Day because of the expectation it puts on husbands and wives. Now I know there are some husbands out there that are only "romantic" on Valentine's Day(meaning that is the only day they buy a gift or take you out somewhere special). I don't like V
Monday Meanderings 1970-01-01 00:59:59 So on Saturday my two oldest boys had basketball championship games. I like the picture above because I really needed to be there in order to calm down after two championship games in a row.The first game was middle son's game (remember he is my last second shot to win the game son). Well anything he put up, it went in the basket it was amazing. He totaled 14 (that is fourteen!! points in this one game). They won the Championship. Hubby was the coach and one of the parents brought a bag of shredded paper that they poured over hubby's head when he had his back turned. I am still vacuuming the stuff off my living room floor because it was everywhere in his clothing. But it was so worth it.Then oldest son had his game next. His team could not make a basket to save their life during the first quater, it was so frustrating. They just needed to find their rhythm. Finally they began to score in the second quarter, and in the third quarter they managed to inch ahead. But the ot Read more:Monday
In "Other" Words... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Quote by Richard CecilI am going to approach this quote a little different. I am going to break it down and let the book of Job speak for me.WE ARE URGENT ABOUT THE BODY:Job 2:4 "Skin for skin!" Satan replied. "A man will give all he has for his own life. 5 But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face."HE IS ABOUT THE SOUL:But Job learned there was more to life than loss and pain:God said, ""Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!"Job replies,Job 42:3 You (God) asked, 'Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?'(Job replied) Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.WE CALL FOR PRESENT COMFORTS:Job wanted the pain of life to go away, he wants peace.Job 3: 24 -26 "For sighing comes to me instead Read more:Words
Thank you... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Back in September I had major jaw surgery. Everything went perfect, and I healed well. Beginning Sunday night and most of Monday the left side of my lower jaw began to swell. I thought it was braces related so I did not think to much of it. Then it became necessary to live on Advil and I knew something was not right. When I woke up Tuesday morning I was in extreme pain and crying to my husband. I called my regular dentist thinking it was something to do with a tooth. He saw me right away Tuesday morning, took some X-Rays and then I heard the words, "Oh Laurel" you either have a abscessed tooth, a tumor or a dead tooth back there. He said I should go see the Dr that did my surgery last September. But he gave me some antibiotics and pain medication. The pain medication was very much needed and I was taking it EVERY FOUR HOURS. My surgeon could not see me until Wednesday. I went in Wednesday morning, and he was looking at the X-Rays, he took more X-Rays, and he was " Read more:Thank
Hosting In "Other" Words... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I will be hosting Christian Women's Online "In Other Words
" this Tuesday the 20th. This is the following quote for the week, it is referring to reading the bible.Join me in sharing about this quote. Write about it on your blog on Tuesday, and come back and leave a link here on Tuesday to your post.PS!As a side note, I guess I could put this on another post but decided not to. God does work all things out for the good. The medical scare I had was NOT fun, but the rest the Lord has given me yesterday and today was very much needed. Yesterday I spent the day in bed, I slept most of the day. Part of it because of the surgery and part because I was just plum worn out from the last two weeks. Now this morning my left side of my face is the size of half of a football and I am still taking pain pills, but I get to stay home and clean and rest. This is what I have been asking the Lord for, rest. I praise you Father for this time. Thank you that I got to spend time in your word this morn Read more:Hosting
So how to do you connect with ohers? 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Let me give you two wonderful ways:One isThis offers you a wonderful network of Christians, along with a monthly magazine with information for all. Another thing I learned in theology class... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Ok since there was some interest in what I am studying in my theologyclass
and everyone was nice last time, I will toss out another one that came up for debate in class. Did Jesus descend into hell? (after he died on the cross) Now before I go into what the bible says and how Wayne Grudem (the author) interprets it. Let me say I grew up with this belief. I could not really tell you why I held this belief, but it was just something I had heard growing up. But now I do not believe this to be true. Where did the idea that Jesus descending into hell come from? Well the Apostle's Creed states "He descended into hell". The Apostles' Creed reads: "I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth;and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead.He ascended into hea
Thank you for your kind words.... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Today I feel a little questioned about my judgment on things (not personally, but indirectly/ and this has NOTHING to do with the Theology questions, you guys have been great! I have been enjoying the feedback!!). But I have stated here before, you may find me in sites where there is cussing, where there may be things that don't exactly line up with my beliefs. If I only hang out with the people who agree with me then how can I be a witness, how can I show others about Christ? And I refer you to this post, here. To explain it better. In fact I have been able to reach out privately to some who I have visited that were struggling, but that is neither here nor there....While I was feeling this I received the best compliment today since the first day I began blogging. I have thanked her privately but publicly I want you to know how much your comments made me feel, and that you stated my whole goal in this blogging adventure in one sentence...You've made me want to search the Script Read more:Thank
In "Other" Words... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Don't you love it when you are trying to form your words and figure out what to say, God hits you over the head with a verse.Ms. Guyon was talking about meditative reading of the bible. She says:"Meditative Reading is the choosing some important practical or speculative truth, always preferring the practical, and proceeding thus: whatever truth you have chosen, read only a small portion of it, endeavouring to taste and digest it, to extract the essence and substance thereof, and proceed no farther while any savour or relish remains in the passage: when this subsides, take up your book again and proceed as before, seldom reading more than half a page at a time, for it is not the quantity that is read, but the manner of reading, that yields us profit"I am guilty of reading fast, expecting me to "get things" in a quick manner. Isn't that the way life is? "Ok Lord here I am, I am doing my devotions, I am ready to listen…buy hey I only have 20 minutes so make it quick.†Read more:Words
