Psalms Sunday
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Beginning this Sunday my friend Erica at Butterfuly Kisses will be going through the book of Psalms and she asks us to join with her. She said:Each Sunday I will pick one or two Psalms (depending on length). If you would like to take part, after reading the Psalms, share in a post whatever you would like in regards to what you read. For example, what did you think of it? What does it mean to you? Do you have a story behind it? Can you teach us something about it? Do you relate to a portion of it? What verse from it spoke to you the most?Go over and check it out here.

Psalm's Chapter 1This is going to be short and sweet. This chapter is a great example of compare and contrast. Vs 1-3 state the characteristics of one who is righteous:1. Yields fruit2. Does not wither (or fade away)3. ProspersNow in Vs 4-6 we see what happens to the ungodly or "wicked" as stated in vs 4.1. They will perish.I know which path I chose. Thank you Jesus for sending your Son so I can chose the right path.Head over to Erica's for more.

So what is the smallest thing you have prayed about?
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I already told you God is going to be teaching me a lot through this moving experience. He has already begun. Ok last week when I was reading all your WONDERFUL New Year's meditations, I have to confess I was having a difficult week. Now you are going to think something terrible must have happened, or my kids were acting up, or hubby was not being attentive. Oh how I wish I could sound wise and say it was one of those things. No it was not any of them.Ok so I am beginning to get my ducks in an order and need to begin packing some stuff away to put into a shed. We will only be living with what we know we need for the time being. We have been given a lot of family heirlooms that were just taking up too much space. So I have been, cleaning, organizing, oh and trying to pack. THAT IS IF I HAD ANY BOXES. Ok you are going to laugh, go ahead. But I could not find a box to save my life. I went to the grocery store, none; I went to Wal-Mart, not at this time; I went to Office Max,

"Wherever you are spiritually whatever you have been through emotionally, you are already wrapped in the Lord's embrace. Held close by nail-scarred hands." ~ Liz Curtis Higgs While growing up my family did not travel too much. I was fortunate to have family that lived close by. I grew up with all of my extended family around me. But I always had a desire to travel, to "see the world". When I met manly man, he never lived anywhere more than 2 years because he was from a military family. So with him I saw adventure, excitement; I knew if I married this man I would see the world. What was not communicated was I wanted to "travel" not move away from everyone. It was God's plan that I move to the complete opposite side of the US from all my family. When I moved, my relationship with Christ was not that good, he was my SOS God at the time. I had messed things up in my life, manly man and I began our marriage on shaky ground, and now I was moving away from all I knew (everyt

Don't Grow Too Fast

He slumps into the car as I pick him up from school. I could tell he was not happy one bit. Middle brother was in the back talking up a storm so I could not interrupt and ask what was wrong. I hear chatter in the back on how "we" have an assignment of finding the best insulator for ice. Notice how all assignments are "we", instead of "I". (this picture is how I think of him) Anyways, we arrive home. And I get a chance to ask other brother what was wrong. He said shyly, "there is a girl in my class I like and she has another boyfriend" My hand grip the steering wheel as my voice ever so sweetly says, "Oh do you know this boy, is he in your class?" "I don't know his name, but I know who he is," my son said. I gave him a big hug and told him I loved him, but also reminded him he is too young to have a girlfriend. For right now in your life, Mommy is your only gal. He smiled and gave me a big hug. Now some of you might be thinking I am talking about

My first Thankful Thursday
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Thankful Thursday : What Laurel is Thankful for today1. I am thankful that manly man thought of me, when he heard the candy store was going out of business. He ran over and made sure I had a nice box of chocolate candy.2. I am thankful for friends who don't mind hearing from me even when I am blah.. Even though things are not exactly perfect with them either. But it is nice to lean and support one another.3. I am thankful that I have parents who love to dream with me. I am having so much fun dreaming about my new house, and they are getting excited right along with me. Even if it means my dreams may be a little unrealistic.4. I am thankful for three boys that make me laugh, give me hugs, and still think I know "most everything".Click here for the Thankful Thursday codeClick here for Chrixean's blogTrackbacks, pings, and comment links are accepted and encouraged!View More Thankful Thursday Participants

What did the disciples think? And what about my life- and yours? What do we do when God doesn't act or move the way we think He should?"I am going to cheat and not tag anyone. Instead I will do the other Meme that has been around.Six Weird Things About Me1. When I grow up I want to look like Shania Twain. She is what I listen to when I work out. I have loved her forever and one of my favorite songs is this.. Almost had manly man sign a contract with those words. 2. Manly Man hates country but loves this song. The Sacred Everyday
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Ann V. and Tonia P. have created a new blog called The Sacred Everyday. They have just begun, but this is the first blog I head over to if I am having a very frazzeld day. It calms me and helps me keep in persepective the "One Thing". Tonia says:I am so excited to dedicate this year to a personal exploration of faith and writing. In my still moments I can hear His whisper...calling me further up and farther in....This little blog will be my personal scrapbook, for the things that spill over the top of this cup God has granted. When you have time head on over there and be calmed by their wonderful writings, and may they, through their writings, draw you closer to God.

Sometimes I just get weary in the fight.
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Dear Diary, Some days I just am so weakened by the spiritual warfare around me. What a day today and it is only noon. I woke up to my husband's alarm going off every 9 mins (which I had thoughts of throwing across the room). It was raining today and my flesh wanted nothing more than to stay in bed. But finally my guilt for not going to church was greater and I grumpily got out of bed. I woke the kids up, and was grumbling the whole time. I even had the audacity to think in my mind, "Lord if I am going to go while I am so worn out, I better be blessed today" I wore comfortable clothes, because I was already in a bad mood, did not want to sit in church uncomfortable and in a bad mood. From the first song that was sung. My heart was renewed. I think I had tears running down my face the whole service. Who am I to tell the Lord I better be blessed? Who am I to complain that I "have" to go to church? It is a privilege. We had an awesome guest speaker tod

I was tagged by Iris at Sting my Heart...Five-things-you-didn't-know-about-me meme1. Daisies are my favorite flower. Don't care for roses.2. I fell in love with a boy in third grade, and loved him until he broke up with me our first year of college. What is funny is that this was in Arizona and we both ended up living in Florida. He will always be a friend, but we have not talked for a over 2 years.3. I took sign language for 4 years in college. It got to the point I dreamed in sign language. Unfortunately, it is a talent if you don't use it you lose it.4. I am moving. OK I KNOW EVERYONE IN BLOGVILLE KNOWS THAT. But do you know I am dreaming about these five acres we found close to town. I really doubt it will be a reality but it would sure blow my mind if it worked out. In my wildest dreams, I only dreamed in one acre increments =), and even that would blow my mind. But it is fun to dream.5. I am signed up to take a Theology class at church beginning Feb 7th. I am so

Psalms Sunday

Psalm 2Here in chapter 2 David talks about world rulers and how they rebel against God, who is Supreme King. Also, Paul quotes verse 2 in Acts 4:25, while discussing the sovereign power of God.God also says he will establish his holy kingdom on Mt. Zion. This is referring to where the Messiah will reign during the Millennium. This is also reiterated in Isaiah 2:3, "For the law will go forth from Zion, And the world of the Lord from Jerusalem." And in vs 9, David tells what is going to happen during Christ's second coming, "Thou shalt shatter them like earthenware."The remaining of the chapter David is warning the kings to show some discernment and to worship God, fear God, because he is the ONLY sovereign king.Psalm 110This Psalms goes with Psalm 2 because it explains what will happen to the Kings who did not fear God, who did not show discernment."He will shatter kings in the day of His wrath.....He will shatter the chief men over a broad country." This is talking about during t

In "Other" Words...

At first I had difficulty with this quote, but once I got Loni to explain it to me in laymen's terms it was perfectly clear. She said:When people are hurting they may say things they don't mean, and as Christians we should not be quick to jump on them, condemn them, etc. Give them some time to heal. So, is what they are saying coming from the sore (pain) or the soul (they way they really believe)?I am going to add another bit of a twist on this, and it is something I have not really talked about. I thank God, many people gave me time to heal, mainly manly man. I struggle with depression. I believe it runs in my family, but I am the first to admit it and get help. But it took me a LONG time to admit it and get help. Anyone who has read my testimony knows we had a rocky start, now add struggling with depression on top of it all. It was almost more than I could bear. Some of the deep lows I am still hesitant to share with others, but I praise God I married a man who knew what I was say

Why do I have to be thankful?
1970-01-01 00:59:59
1 Thessalonians tells me I need to "rejoice always". Why? Why do I always need to be thankful? Have you ever asked yourself that? I sure don't feel thankful all the time, and some days all I "think" I have to be thankful for is my next breath. So why does God command us (me) to "rejoice always".Paul said he has learned to be satisfied in all circumstances (I Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you). Why? I sure know many circumstances I have read here in bloggyville just this week, where I sure would not have been thankful. Here we are raising money for Kelli, and here is a baby fighting for her life, and there are many more heartbreaks. Are you telling me I need to rejoice and they need to be satisfied in the painful circumstances they have been given? Sometimes that just stretches my mind.Did you know Paul said these words after being forced to leave Thessalonica because of legal action taken against him b

Ok reality finally hit...
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I was driving down the road taking my son to Wednesday night youth group. We were blaring the song "Blessed Be Your Name". I dropped him off and headed home (my class does not begin until Feb.).Anyways I began thinking about how everyone has been rallying for Kelli, I was thinking how people said a prayer for me for someone they do not even know. I was praying thinking about you guys. And then it hit and the tears began to flow. (and it is not even that time, ha!!)How awesome is our God. Can I just say I am so blessed to be part of this little bloggyworld, and how thankful you have become part of my little life.Ok off to make dinner, just had to share how full my heart feels right now.UPDATE: Please say a prayer for Heather at her daughter has been admitted to ICU. 1970-01-01 00:59:59
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, thatwe may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Psalm 90:141. I am so thankful to see how Christians can come together and pray for one another. I am in awe of the results for Kelli...just plain awe. And I am so glad we will have eternity together, because I want to sit and chat face to face with each and every one of you. And if you have any, any doubt if you are a Christian or not, go under, the tab "what I believe" and it will lead you to Christian Women Online where they explain everything so well.2. I am thankful for the men and women we have serving. A family member leaves in one month. I am proud and scared at the same time.3. I am thankful for my church's leadership. I am blessed to be under a pastor that truly has the gift of "Sheparding". And we have great youth ministers that pour their hearts into the youth.4. I am so blessed by loving and encouraging family. Let Your Fire Burn
1970-01-01 00:59:59
This week's theme is the BEAUTY OF FIRE.There is something about sitting next to a roaring fire, outside in the cold air while bundled up in a warm jacket. I remember so many church camps in the woods, so many life changing decisions, and so many times singing praises to the Lord, as a young girl, around a camp fire.I have also had the wonderful opportunity of sitting on a beach on an cold evening around an open fire pit roasting marshmallows on a stick. There are some things that just overwhelm the senses. There is something powerful looking down into the flames to see them sparkle, but yet knowing that if this fire is not contained it could turn into something bigger than ourselves. You feel the heat blow against your winter cold skin, and see the sparks fly off the flame into the wind. Those sparks sometimes are contained, if not then they could cause another fire. The Holy Spirit in your life is like the fire. Many times, we try to contain our "fire" within.Ephesians 5:18 says

Tuesday Thoughts
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Tuesdays I usually participate in the CWO "In Other Words" but today I am weary. So I am going to send you over there to read some of the wonderful thoughts.Mental note, don't go spend the evening with your best "ugly" friend who makes you laugh like no other, while mouth being rubber band shut. It hurts to much the next morning =). It was great fun hanging out with a group of women last night. We got together and did some "stamping", which is new to me, and made several Christmas cards. But I over did myself yesterday, and today I am paying for it.Check back later because I am working on something for the Carnival of Beauty-The Carnival of Fire that is being hosted at Lindsey's Enjoy The Journey.

Fall Into Reading #1
1970-01-01 00:59:59
The Strength of His Hand by Lynn Austin (book three in the series)I just finished this book from my Fall In Reading list. I can not reccommend this series enough. If you are like me and have difficult understanding parts of the old testment, this series really make the Kings come alive. I read this book along with my bible. I don't want to tell you about any of it. GO READ THEM, I promise you won't be dissapointed.

The Body In The Library by Agatha Christie Just finished reading the second book on my "Fall Into Reading " list. This is a perfect weekend or day at the beach read. I love the way it is written. I am not going to review the book, because I am going to assume most of you know Agatha Christie. This was a was a good book. And you know the butler always does it =) (just kidding)When I review books I am not going to give anything away or really tell you about the story, just the type of books and what I thought of it in general.

The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley I really did not think I was going to like this book, but for some reason I could not put it down. This is another book Mom got for me and told me to read. I guess I am a book cover type of gal because this is not a book I would have picked up, it just did not look interesting. But it really kept me hanging on. The venue, a Scottish village, was just beautiful. The author does a good job of making you feel like you are there. And who could not like a main character by the name of Verity? If you like a Scottish venue and a little bit of mystery to go with it, this is a good book. I am not going to say GREAT book, but very good.Fall Into Reading #1Fall Into Reading #2Fall Into Reading #3Fall Into Reading #4Fall Into Reading #5

Breaker's Reef by Terri Blackstock(completed October 06)Terri Blackstock's BREAKER'S REEF is book four of the CAPE REFUGE series. This particular series does not require deep thought but are good books to read if you like suspense/mystery with a twist. This series is perfect for those snuggle in couch, drink hot cocoa, on a cold night. In my reviews I do not want to give anything away, these reviews are just what I thought of the book, not what the book is about. A Breach of Promise by Anne Perry I just completed another book on my Fall Into Reading list. I have to say this book surprised me. My Mom got this book, read it and mailed it to me. I took one look at it and thought "what a boring looking book". So I read another book, well Mom kept asking if I picked this one up yet. "No Mom I will get to it". Well then I made the mistake of saying, "oh I just finished a book, and she said GREAT now read the other one." ok, yes Mom.The first half of the book I could not put it down. It is a murder mystery, I did not have it figured out, it was a total surprise for me. The setting of this book takes place in the Victorian era and how women were then. It is a great read. If you like mysteries, you won't be disappointed in this one. Mom has since bought me two more books from the same author. But I told her I am sticking to my list for right now. But I look forward to reading them.Fall Into Reading #1Fall Into Reading #2
