Christmas Tree Treasures 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Morning Glory from Seeds From My Garden is hosting Christmas
Tree Treasures. She says:You are invited to post as many photos as you want, of the special ornaments that you hang on your tree each year. Share with us why they are special to you. Maybe they are family heirlooms, things your children made you or you had as a child, or special theme collections -- whatever it is that you put on your tree that brings you pleasure each year as you decorate it. So here are few from my tree.My Mother in Law and Sister in Law started me on this collection. These are my expensive ornaments (which I have yet to buy one myself thanks to relatives). But they are Wallace Gold plated, with the year on them. I began my collection the first year of marriage.I just love this ornament, it was given to me. It is very fragile, but I always put it right up front. It shows Mary and Joseph and the Christ Child. Most of the items on my tree are gold, cream, or white. But I really like this ball. Thank you 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I was rushing around getting my house cleaned today, kind of complaining that we once again have to go out tonight to another social function. It is cold outside (for once here in Florida) and I want to stay home, sit by my tree and read my book. So instead I sit here on my laptop trying to catch up a bit from yesterday.I get an email with only 7 word, that totally chock me up and make me catch my breath.Sissy from The Whippoorwill Chronicles wrote:"This is what you mean to me"And then she sent me the link that describes what this means:These ladies are as "Mercy Drops" to me in what can often be a dark and stormy world - and blogosphere. They are regular sources of refreshment and revival for me.Sissy you are a blessing to me, your kind words have blessed me. Thank
you. (now off to figure out how to put this on my side bar)

Monday Ramblings 1970-01-01 00:59:59 This was a fun and filled weekend. Friday was my husband's office Christmas party, which is not that exciting. It is a family affair and for the kids Santa comes in and brings them a gift. It was very cool to see my 8 year old still excited, wanting to be up there right by Santa. But sad because it was my oldest son's last year for being invited to "visit" with Santa. The rest of us had a nice dinner and heard about the status of the company. We are blessed because the company my husband works for is run by Christian men. Then on Saturday my boss took manly man and I to see the off-broadway playof Lion King. It was really awesome. The hard work they put into the play really shows. The costumes were amazing, and the talent was awesome.I am not much of a "play" person, but this was awesome. If you get a chance to see it, go do it.Then Sunday night a friend and I went to see the movie Nativity. I bawled like a baby, it was a good movie. They do a good job in showing the humanity part of Read more:Monday

In "Other" Words... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 "I am the one holding the keys to the atmosphere in our home."~ Terry Maxwell ~Author of:Homeschooling with a Meekand Quiet Spirit I had to chuckle at this quote because it is so true! My Father in Laws favorite saying is, "if Mama is not happy then EVERYONE is unhappy, if Mama is happy then everyone is happy."Did you know the Lord made women, women of influence? How we chose to use this influence can be a blessing or down right dangerous. I know I have been guilty of both.None of us chooses to be bad influences, but many times the greatest dangers of bad influence tend to be the influence we have in our roles as Mother or Wife. One of the things I had to learn (and I slip now and again) but not much. Is the way I greet my husband when he comes home. My husband has the type of job where he can get stuck at the office and not get home until 8pm at night. I do not like that, he knows I don't like that but it is part of the job. I am guilty in the early part of our marriage of not being Read more:Words
Because I just have to share.... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I had to go to a grocery store today to buy a Sympathy card (for my boss) for a sub-contractor who lost her husband recently. I was in one of those grocery stores where you just want to run in and run out because it was not in the best side of town. I had picked up my card and was about ready to head out, and an older type cowboy man approached me and asked "can I ask you a personal question?" Ok me being a bit on the shy side and not in the best of neighborhoods began to pray right then and there. And then I noticed his arms were full of ...well let's say female products. I just looked at him and he showed me one of the boxes and said, "Is this pearl?" Ok my mouth literally fell the floor. I was so off guard. I felt like I had this shocked look on my face. I guess I look like a nice young (hehe notice how I add that in the description) girl, who would be easy to approach about her female products usage. He said "This is for my daughter and my wife sent me to get these

Results.... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 The one difficult thing in blogville is really knowing someone. But I guess I can not say that, because even MY OWN mother got it wrong. First I have to say I KNEW how this person would have responded (because I thought of her after I walked out of the store):Shalee said: Yeah, I'd have helped him and then taken him to the Midol and said, "Buy it and stock in it."Then I would have taken him to the candy section and placed some Hershey's dark chocolate kisses in his hand and said, "Trust me on this one."Then I would praised him for his willingness to help each of the women in his life. (That is a lovely way of showing his love for each of them.)Lastly, I would have suggested that he get caught up on movies in the theatre that week because with two of them on their periods, the safest place for him would be out of the house. Then manly man and I had a good laugh last night in how this person responded: Jeana said... I'm looking for option c: Explain to him that if his wife asked f
Thursday Thirteen #13 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Thirteen rambling things from a overworked, tired, and lack of chocolate brain:1. We are officially renting a storage shed to get stuff out to make this house more presentable when we put current house up for sale. The possibility of moving is becoming more real, and I am scared to get too excited. (same town, different house, bigger for the three boys)2. I went today where few would be terrified to go. Under my boys beds. I am thankful Hazmat was not called. I could describe what I found, but then you would think I am a bad house keeper. When in reality I am not, I just have boys that can hide things well.3. So I moved furniture, vacuumed enough dust bunnies to make a quilt, and I had one large garbage bag to throw away tons of junk. For some reason when I say clean your room, it is only surface cleaning. They are good at stuffing in small places. Well now it is clean...well at least until they wake up the next morning.4. Most of my Christmas shopping is done and wrapped. YIPP Read more:Thursday

Joshua 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Joshua 1:6-9"Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."Heather from Graced by Christ asks us:What's your take on this passage? If you read through the whole chapter, or even the verse, did the Lord reveal something different to you? If not, has He ever directly commanded you (like me) not to fear? Have you ever been on one road and found that the Lord had been preparing you for a diff Read more:Joshua
Monday Meanderings 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I have a word of advice, be prepared for anything when you pray that the Lord will teach you to be obedient in your anger. I have been focusing on 2 Corinthians 10:5 "brining into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" I prayed the dangerous prayer, "Lord teach me how to be obedient even in my anger…". (oh yeah you know what is coming) Well God, being God of all things knows I can not learn just by reading. I need an object lessons. Sigh… Ok the week began ok, a few things made me upset but I was able to react appropriately and still had my head about me. Just let me tell you I do not have a problem with anger, I can go weeks without getting angry. But the thought of being obedient to Christ while angry had my little mind perplexed. And trying to figure out how that can be possible. (famous last words you say…) By the middle of the week things heated up a bit, I went grocery shopping after an already trying day. Of course as I was loading Read more:Monday

In "Other" Words... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Several years ago, we were getting ready to head on over to a Soup Kitchen to serve dinner to a room full of people. I was taking my three boys for the first time. I was a little nervous, not knowing how they would react. We arrived early enough to help set out the desserts and get everything ready to serve the individuals. Each family was assigned a table. Once people began to arrive, we began to serve the salad. Our job was to make sure each person received a salad and to clear off the plate when they were finished. My three sons were doing a good job helping to serve at our assigned table. I liked that I could keep an eye on them, monitor how they were doing. Next we carried out the dinner plates; I helped my youngest because I did not want him to drop any plates on the floor. As a Mother I was proud. Then I realized I lost sight of my oldest son. "Where was he?" I was a little worried, but thought maybe he was hiding out in the kitchen somewhere. Suddenly I realized he was not Read more:Words
Dear Santa.... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled mychildren on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor, sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade treeon the school playground. I was hoping you could spread my list outover several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with myson's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room betweencycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18years.Here are my Christmas wishes:I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze;but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aislein the grocery s tore.I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventhmonth of my last pregnancy. If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like fingerprintresistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music; a televisionthat doesn't broadca Read more:Santa

We wanted to try to meet but it did not work out, but I know there will be another time. Kind of a big bummer because she sounded so nice.Anyways, we head back home Thursday. Where to put all this "stuff".... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Return from trip - checkUnpack - half checkFood in the house - checkHave all three boys back - not yet.I have been going around my house with a vengeance throwing things away. I even cleaned all my kitchen drawers. Does anyones else get grossed out about the drawer they place their clean silverware in? How does it get so dirty. Ok, so it might have been this time last year when it was cleaned last time. But still.I packed up the tree. Put away all the Christmas decorations. Unpacked and put away most of the clothes. But I have too much "stuff
". I have certain relatives that like to buy a lot for my boys and for us, but then I have to find a place to put all this "stuff". And I just don't have room. I have been cleaning for three days, but if you walked into my house you would not believe me. I even had to go purchase more hangers today, so I could hang up "more stuff".I have a bad attitude about this "stuff". I wish I could tell certain relatives, just buy each of us one
2007 New Year Meditations 1970-01-01 00:59:59 For guidelines click here. This will remain on the top until the end of the 5th. The Lord laid this on my heart to sit down and think about what I would like to see in the New Year
. I despise New Year resolutions, but God is teaching me how to dream. I am not good at journaling, this is where my blogging comes in, this will be a post I am hoping to come back to throughout the year and see how God changed things, how some prayers were answered, and to see how God blew my mind on other things. And, God willing, I would love to come back and post December 2007 what God taught me through everything.Lordy, I do not expect you to do that, this is just my wish for me. I don't even know what my plans are for tomorrow, let alone for December 2007 that is why this is called Meditations. This next year is going to be a big year for me; we are hoping to move houses. Now some people move houses like they change shoes. We do not. This will be a big adventure of fun, faith, and me not fr
Thank you. 1970-01-01 00:59:59 To say I am humbled is saying the least. I am overwhelmed.I know I should just say thank you. But this award has brought forth some ponderings for me. I am all about being real here on this blog. So here I go.With this award you are saying, I illuminate joy through my posts. And with that I am humbled. But I will be honest when I showed the award to "manly man", he laughed. But on the other hand I have a sister who calls me her "prayer warrior". And good 'ol Mom said "It is what you portray to others dear; this is neat!!!"So my thoughts to God is, am I not joyful to the ones who are the closest to me? Manly man did not mean the laugh to hurt me, he said congratulations and that he was proud. But it made me think. What I say and comments I leave are really me, but on the other hand manly man gets to see me when I am down, when I am angry, when I am frustrated and he knows I can partake of the proverbial whine a bit too much also. So I view this award as a goal in my real lif Read more:Thank

Works For Me Wednesday 1970-01-01 00:59:59 We all would like to lose a few of the Christmas pounds we put on.Watching what we eat is a big help, but the most important item is DRINK WATER. I go to Walgreens and get one of the large jugs (like the one pictured here) fill it up with water in the morning, and I know if I finish all the water in a day then I get the amount of daily water needed. If water is too plain, add some lemon, or crystal light to the jug. DRINK UP, it is a must if you want to lose any weight. This works for me! Read more:Wednesday

A little diet humor for ya'll 1970-01-01 00:59:59 New Year's Humor "Twas the Month after Christmas 'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house,Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse. The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste,At the holiday parties had gone to my waist. When I got on the scales there arose such a number! When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber). I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared,The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared. The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese,And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt,And prepared once again to do battle with dirt.I said to myself, as I only can,"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"So--away with the last of the sour cream dip, Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip.Every last bit of food that I like must be banished,'Till all the additional ounces have vanished. A Recommendation 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I took my boys to a movie yesterday. Let me just say school can not begin quick enough, they don't go back until Monday. Which is 4 days, or 345,600 seconds, 5760 minutes, 96 hours... Any ways I am getting off topic here.We went to go see "Night at the Museum"..... if you have boys, say over the age of 6 or 7 this is a perfect movie. No bad language, no real violence. All my boys loved it, even my really soon to be teenage boy.Just wanted to give you a heads up because good clean movies do not come by often enough in my book.PS- girls may love this movie also, but since the only point of reference in Laurel's world is boys, I can only speak for them. =) Read more:Recommendation
Do you have any questions? 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I just read an article the other day that, "Lakes of methane have been spotted on Saturn's largest moon, Titan, boosting the theory that this strange, distant world bears beguiling similarities to Earth, according to a new study" (here)The Earth's crust contains huge amounts of methane. "They believe the lakes prove that Titan has a "methane cycle" -- a system that is like the water cycle on Earth, in which the liquid evaporates cools and condenses and then falls as rain, replenishing the surface liquid" (here)Do you ever feel like things are happening around you that just seem very overwhelming? I know I do. I am at home trying to pack for my intending move later this year. I am trying to make my house look presentable and attractive so someone else would feel blessed to live there. At the same time that I am doing all this they are finding methane on Saturn's moon, Titan. The first woman becomes Speaker of the House, and the first swearing in for Congress with a Koran i Read more:questions
