It's 7:30 AM...
2007-03-26 14:47:00
And already my three year old, Josiah, has come out of a hiding place with...A. pants that need to be changed because "I don't like the potty chair."andB. a blue face. Me: Josiah... why is your face blue?Josiah: (in the cutest voice ever, batting his eyes) I dunno.Malachi: Maybe his face is blue because he is sad.Me: (smelling his face) I think his face is blue from candy... Josiah did you eat candy?Josiah: (again with much cuteness) Yup!!I also have a disastrous kitchen to clean, mounds of laundry to wash and even more to fold, all the floors need to be vacuumed or mopped, and oh... now I have another diaper to change. Did I mention we started laying the tile in our back entry way this weekend? We did. We are a glutton for punishment.http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

Review of Huggies Overnights...
2007-03-28 01:33:00
First of all let me confess my undying affection and loyalty to Pampers Cruisers. I love thee Pampers Cruisers... you have been here for me through the years, never leaking, never causing rashes... why you continue to make other kinds of pampers diapers is beyond me... please just stop making the other types of diapers, stick with the Cruisers and the Swaddlers and gosh darn it reduce the price!!! M'Kay??Whew. I didn't realize I had all that pent up.So... the Huggies Overnights....I have never, never, never been a fan of Huggies. When Malachi was a baby someone gave us Huggies as a gift... they leaked and caused a rash so bad I had to get a special medication to get rid of it. That was my last experience with the blasted diapers over 4 and half years ago.Fast forward to now. When The Parent Bloggers asked if I had a child in diapers that leaked at night... I had to admit I do. NOT because Josiah is wearing Cruisers... we took him out of the Cruisers when we decided to start pot

The Cost Of Beauty...
2007-03-29 16:06:00
When your a mother of four young boys... three of which are not in school yet... showering becomes an extra luxury. That's right... don't come to close... you never know when the last time I actually got to shower might be. In order to get a shower I have to distract my 3 & 4 year olds with Backyardigins or Veggie Tales... very sneakily get my 6 month old settled into his bouncy seat in the bathroom... and as quietly as possible start the shower and get as clean as I can in the 4 minutes I have before said 3 & 4 year olds start bickering, screaming, and then looking for me. I'm exhausted just writing about it. I could just take showers in the evening when super hubby is here... but by then... frankly I'm to tired, and I'd rather just sit lifeless on the sofa.So when my sister in law, Sarah, (yes... my sister in law and I have the same name) asked me to try out this great new face cleaner product stuff she's selling.... I had NO idea what I had just got myself into. NO. IDEA

Where we liveWe live in a small Midwestern town... on a small lake where everyone knows your name. I love it!! I couldn't have dreamed up a better place to raise our boys. (except for the fact my family is over 1500 miles away... but I still hope they see the light and move HERE!)A lot of the people who live on the lake are friendly retired folks. Last night our neighbor (an elderly man) across the street was rushed off in an ambulance. All the neighbors came out in the pouring down rain and watched and prayed. I hope he's ok. Our street just wouldn't be the same without him... every summer day he rides his riding lawn mower up and down the street, so he can walk his dog, stopping to chat with anyone in sight. A few years ago his wife was put in an assisted living home... but every single summer day he would go and get her and bring her home where she would just sit outside and look at her beautiful flowers, and then he would take her back.Devoted.I never found out if he kne

Yes. I am a stay at home mom... but I am also more.
2007-04-03 14:00:00
This is what we woke up to this morning. A couple weeks ago we experienced beautiful, warm spring. A week ago it rained and rained and rained... for days. Now... it's snowing. Really snowing, 4 inches snowing, school's canceled snowing. sigh. But the truth is... the weather represents how I feel. As a stay at home mommy... It feels good to be noticed for other skillz besides um... mothering. I am proud of my family. I'm proud of my boys when people tell me how well behaved they are. (I think "ya right" but still... proud) But when I am good at something else... and ignored I feel unimportant, devalued. I feel frustrated that my researched ideas are somehow not as important because I'm not being paid for them. She's just a mother...what does she know? I want to be knowledgeable, I pride myself on learning and researching and presenting good ideas. I enjoy using my brain to do something besides change diapers. Why can't stay at home mom's be recognized in other areas? Yes

Remember The Alamo...
2007-04-05 22:02:00
disclaimer:I had an entire post ready to go in my head based on a little slip of paper that little miss must-not-have-clutter me THREW OUT. So... this post will not be as good since I can't direct quote from this little piece of paper... but oh well I'm a throw caution to the wind kind a gal...We just completed our fruit sales fund raiser for the kids school...see this fruit... in particular the oranges? well a little piece of paper came in the box saying something to the effect of:"The oranges in this box are not from California. they are from Texas. because of the extreme freeze in California we were unable to get the beautiful, delicious, gorgeous oranges you are used to. we apologize for the inconvenience of having small, ugly, not as good, full of seeds and hard to peel oranges that came from Texas."Offended Texas farmers? I think yes.http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

Because he lingered on Saturday, he was around on Sunday to see the miracle.
2007-04-06 15:51:00
On Saturday by Max Lucado John didn't know on that Friday what you and I now know. He didn't know that Friday's tragedy would be Sunday 's triumph. John would later confess that he "did not yet understand from the Scriptures that Jesus must rise from the dead" (John 20:9). That's why what he did on Saturday is so important. We don't know anything about this day; we have no passage to read, no knowledge to share. All we know is this: When Sunday came, John was still present. When Mary Magdalene came looking for him, she found him. Jesus was dead. The Master's body was lifeless. John's friend and future were buried. But John had not left. Why? Was he waiting for the resurrection? No. As far as he knew, the lips were forever silent and the hands forever still. He wasn't expecting a Sunday surprise. Then why was he here? You'd think he would have left. Who was to say that the men who crucified Christ wouldn't come after him? The crowds were pleased with one crucifixion;

Notes From Easter Sunday...
2007-04-09 15:47:00
1. Die Easter eggs......and ourselves...2. Go to town and hand out copies of An Easter Carol to random children.3. Get up WAY too early to dress boys for church... only to find the boys 10 minutes later... DIRTY.4. Think about wearing a spring outfit... remember I live where there is no global warming.5. Hunt for Easter eggs inside... WHAT??? People actually hunt for Easter eggs outside... with GREEN grass and spring outfits??? My boys don't believe me when I tell them this.6. Confiscate all candy.7. Hide in closet eating confiscated candy.8. Remember that Jesus is alive.http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

Teething, Tiling And Other Random Adventures...
2007-04-12 16:44:00
I know my posts have been short lately... finding time to think has been getting harder and harder. I have been helping super hubby lay tile, holding a teething baby 24/7, working on some projects at church as well as some other projects... and other projects does NOT include cleaning and painting my OWN house. Which I really want to do.Full plate? I think YES.So... today I am trying to get Elijah to take a nap so I can grout the tile... anyone know how to grout? ha ha ha... ya... me either. But first I have to wash all Elijah's sheets and blankets thanks to a blow out this morning. A blow out in a CRUISER! The horror. And also... Elijah is officially to big for the infant car seat... so we had to move him into this.... Sniff. They grow up so fast. Time for another baby!! lol.Look at me mama... I'm such a big boy!!http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

From The Blog Of Beth Moore...
2007-04-13 14:24:00
I can't overemphasize how rich my fellow moms made my parenting experience. Particularly one: my best friend, Johnnie. She had two boys and I had two girls and we dragged those four kids to every McDonalds in Houston just so we could finish a sentence. We taught Mother's Day Out together because we were both broke. We home-made family Christmas gifts because we didn't have the money to buy them. (We spent what money we had on our babies.) I hate arts and crafts to this day and still have burns from glue guns. That's not all. I'd decide I'd had it with Keith and I'd leave him in the morning sometimes, go to her house with my unsuspecting girls, drink a cup of coffee, get in a better mood, and be back home by the time he got off work. He'd walk in the door, ask about my day, and I'd say under my breath, "I left you today. That's how my day was." Hee hee. Somehow I'd feel some satisfaction with that, repent, then fall in love with him all over again. It was his looks. My point i

My Little Boy's Turning 5...
2007-04-14 16:27:00
Off they go... for the traditional Daddy Birthday Boy Breakfast.Today we are celebrating Malachi David's 5th Birthday. (his actual birthday is tomorrow) We were at walmart last night getting some last minute party supply's and I announced to the family that we needed to find a "number 4 candle" to which I was reminded that Malachi is turning FIVE not FOUR. ohmygoodness he's turning 5.Malachi... the comedian of the family. The free spirit. The adventurer. The most spiritually sensitive little boy I have ever met.Malachi, you daily remind me to keep my eyes on God. Thank You! A boy is Truth with dirt on its face, Beauty with a cut on its finger, Wisdom with bubble gum in its hair, and the Hope of the Future with a frog in its pocket. --Alan Beckhttp://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

"I'm FIVE"
2007-04-16 18:29:00
We had a fun party... with lots of little five year olds!! It was a VERY busy weekend. But we had fun celebrating the life of our little Malachi.Since his birthday was on a Sunday, Malachi walked right up to our pastor during an "announcement" time (up front in front of the entire church) and said "Pastor Dan... Today is my birthday" The whole church laughed, clapped and sang to him. His day was made.http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

Bondage
2007-04-18 14:44:00
I read somewhere about bondage, that if someone is so deeply entrenched in a particular area of bondage, she cannot imagine how it is possible for another person to live without it.... Bondage may not necessarily look like sin as we know it, but perhaps a lifestyle that requires a certain amount of income to maintain. They have become so used to this luxurious, or maybe just very comfortable, lifestyle, that they cannot imagine living a life without the material comforts they have. But we all know of people who make a trip to a country where they see how the really poor live, and then they come home and realize how fortunate they are. They also realize that it is indeed possible to live a much simpler and happier lifestyle. My point is, sometimes bondage is subtle. It takes a divine intervention to help free us from the bondages that we are entrenched in. If we were not open to God at all, we could not see how God was revealing himself to us, and we would not be able to see the route to

Car Safety...
2007-04-20 14:15:00
I have always thought we were the "safe" family. While many other peoples 5 and 8 year olds sit in the car with out a booster seat... Both Isaiah and Malachi still sit in one, and Josiah and Elijah are both in 5 point harness car seats.I thought we were being a safe as we possibly could be until I saw this...I cried when I saw this. I cried for the family who lost a little boy. And I cried because my boys are in the same booster seats that this little boy died in.We weren't as safe as I thought we were. And while I firmly believe in trusting God with my children... I also believe that God gives us knowledge, and we are supposed to take care of and protect our children with that knowledge.I immediately contacted the Kyle David Miller foundation to find out about the car seats they are asking parents to move their kids into. I found out there is actually two they recommend for children between 40 and 80 pounds... this one and this one. Um... $300.00?? WOW. As I was talki

Getting Ready For Kindergarten...
2007-04-25 03:52:00
In four short months my little Malachi will be going to kindergarten. KINDERGARTEN.Malachi in Kindergarten . I chuckle at the thought. Not because he isn't doing wonderfulin preschool... it's just that he's ACTIVE. And TALKATIVE. And did I mention ACTIVE?Going to school EVERY. SINGLE. DAY seems like a lot for an active boy.Malachi is very advanced spiritually, creatively and actively, and he keeps upwith his fellow preschoolers academically, but barely. For one he is ambidextrous (uses both hands to write) mostly he useshis left hand though…(I think it’s possible he tries to use his right handat school because it’s hard to use scissors and etc. made for the righthand in your left hand)I recently read a study on left handed males that said they are morecreative than right-handed people. There is a definite correlation betweenleft-handedness and creativity/intelligence. Left-handers' brains arestructured differently in a way that widens their range of abilities, andthe

Isaiah was pretending he didn't know I was taking pictures of him... but was totally showing off his skillz for the camera. This picture represents how Josiah plays... cautiously. And this one represents how Malachi plays.... adventuresly.Elijah enjoying being pushed in his swing by Josiah. And Malachi manning the pirate wheel that he got for his birthday.http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

Worth The Wait...
2007-04-30 15:24:00
Y'All... You won't believe this... but...I FINALLY HAVE FLOORING!!!!!One year ago we tore out the carpet and tore out a wall in our rec room because of major water damage. We spent the entire last summer re-landscaping and getting the outside fixed up. We got a new wall up with some new windows.... but the well ran dry before we could buy flooring. So... for a year now we have been researching flooring options, the best deals... and saving up. And this weekend it was worth the wait....*OHMYWORD I love this room!!! We had decided way back this was going to be the kids rec room/ tv room. But last night I seriously considered never letting the kids in this room EVER. Because Oh how I love it!But alas... being the sacrificing mother I am... I put the kids things in the room. And then promptly threatened... I mean ASKED super hubby for THIS flooring throughout the house.*this room is formally known as the red room... as you can see, I painted over the red. (it wouldn't have loo

The Dangerous Book For Boys...
2007-05-03 13:39:00
The honest truth is that I was put off a little by the title of this book. But not for the same reasons as some of the other reviewers... I have four wild boys people. Why would I buy a book that says "dangerous" on the cover? To my pleasant surprise this is not a "dangerous" book at all... it's ADVENTUROUS! And adventurous my boys are... so this book is perfect!I've read a couple reviews on this book where they mentioned they don't like that it says "boys" because girls would like this book too... as a mother of all boys, I am glad it specifies boys. I think that is one of the reasons my boys as well as the neighbor boys liked the book. It makes them feel special... like "I need to know these things"Some of the topics covered in the book are...The Greatest Paper Airplane in the WorldThe Five Knots Every Boy Should KnowSlingshotsFossilsBuilding a TreehouseMaking a Bow and ArrowFishingTimers and TripwiresBaseball's "Most Valuable Players"Famous Battles-Including Lexington and

You're Not From Here....
2007-05-01 14:55:00
Elijah's very first tooth came through, with the second close behind. Poor baby... it's been a very painful process. I'm still in shock that my baby is 7 months old already... eating solids, rolling over, talking, and cutting teeth. I can't believe my sisters have never met him. Or my grandparents. And it's been 6 months since my parents have seen him. He's changed a lot in those 6 months. I wish we didn't live so far away... yet I will never move back to the state I was born and raised in. (sorry mom) It's been interesting living here in the Midwest. I've had people within 5 minutes of meeting me say... "you're not from here are you?" No. I'm not. I'm a west coast girl. It's difficult to fit in. Midwesterners are notorious for "pretending the elephant standing in the living room is not there". I enter the scene and am all... "dude, theres an elephant in your living room... " They gasp, shocked I would mention it. How dare I?When we first moved here my mother in law told m
