And today I think I have it all together..... (ok not really)
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Yesterday was SO beautiful and WARM!WARM!It was WARM!!!I think it ended up being 30 degrees!!! By noon no one had a fever... just some coughing. (With the exception of Elijah who is still coughing pretty bad.)Anyhoo... I sent the kids outside to play. And, AND I opened a window!! I didn't keep the window open long - but it felt SO good to get some fresh air in the house after MONTHS of being sealed up.SO. STINKIN. GOOD.The boys wanted to come back in after maybe 10 minutes.... To which I was allHECK NO!!!!I told them they needed ONE HOUR of fresh air to be healthy. That's right. It will take ONE hour. You want to be healthy don't you? Now GO.When they finally left the front door they had fun sledding, making their snow fort bigger and playing on the playground. And when I let them in... their coughing wasn't as bad.I clearly know what I'm talking about.... and hope to send them outside again this afternoon you know, to get healthy. The fresh air and warm sun got me itching to

My Little Prayer Warriors...
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Malachi LOVES to pray. He prays all the time about everything. Nothing is too big or too small.I could learn a lot from my 4 year old.Today at school Malachi's teacher pulled me aside and told me how Malachi really loves to pray for the other classmates. She said he lifts each one up in prayer and never forgets their prayer request. And then... on my way out of the school Isaiah's teacher saw me and came running over.... "It was SO sweet" she said... "Isaiah went on and on about how thankful he is for Malachi during prayer time.... Isaiah told us about how Malachi had broke up his lego house... but when he came home from school yesterday Malachi had built it back up again... and he couldn't figure out how Malachi had figured out how to build it.... but he was thankful he had!!"I love that my boys' teachers see what I see... http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

A New Addition!!!
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I am SO stinkin excited!!!!Last night Tim came home with enough tile to tile our back entry way, kitchen and bathroom!!! (our front entry way is already tiled)YEEHAAWWWWW!!!!Except now we have a TON of work to do - and we will be busy every Saturday for a very long time.... and I'm sure we'll argue while working on it... becauseOCD husband + OCD wife + working on project together = ARGUING.But it will be worth it!!!So... the tile - it's beautiful 16 x 16 ceramic tile and I am already begging Tim to start RIGHT NOW!! BECAUSE I NEEEEED TILE NOW!!!!But no... we must wait till next weekend??? I don't know why.We are STILL trying to agree on what flooring to put in the rec room.Any suggestions? We are looking for durable and cheap. And... if it was cheap enough we could install it in the living room and dining room and get rid of the awfulness that currently exists. In the mist of our own projects I'm doing a mini home makeover for my pastors wife!! She has been telling me since

The Burpcatcher...
1970-01-01 00:59:59
What mommy? You want me to spit up in the pocket?Today is my first product review for the parent bloggers network. Now Y'all know I'll do anything for a freebie, especially share myopinion…so the parent bloggers are a perfect fit for me!! They review all sortsof products so pop over there and check it out! When I first heard I was getting a burpcatcher I was trying to picture whata burpcatcher would be… It came in a pack of two made out of a soft flannel… What makes it a burpcatcher…as opposed to a burp cloth? I'm so glad you asked…it has a pocket! Yup!! A handy pocket that hangs open for spit up to fall into. AND it's comparable in price to other burp cloth's… you can get a pack of two flannel burpcatchers for $9.99 or one fleece burpcatcher for $9.99. Now, I can not confirm the pocket actually catches anything…Elijah doesn't burp and spit up at the same time - so, if he doesspit up - I'm unprepared for it. And the few times I was able to put

SNOWED IN....
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Such crazy weather we've been having in these here parts... over the last weekish the highs have been ranging around 30's - 40's - (degrees) which is WILD for February!!Yesterday the kids were telling me how sad they were that the snow was just about gone... leaving behind water and mud. This morning this is what we woke up to:Tim is out plowing us and everyone else on our small street out....I hope he scrapes all the windows so we can see outside....So.... no spring for me. At least it's above 0 and the kids have lot's of snow... that's my kind of winter.http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

Looking for a good book?
1970-01-01 00:59:59
After school snack in the snow fortOy. I have so many picture's I want to inundate you with... I am using an incredible amount of self control right now.Oh yes I am. Don't ever say I don't do anything for you.So... a couple of things came up yesterday in the comments and in my e-mail box...Let's start with my sofa... Nope - it's not a slip cover, it's a denim like material that unzips off each cushion for easy washing.Laundry detergent... I'm trying Tide with the lavender fabric softener in it...mmmm! And for sheets and blankets I add the downy lavender/vanilla fabric softener... LOVE.Now the book... Like Dandelion Dust. A MUST read!! Not many books can bring me to tears... but this one did. It is about a couple who adopts a baby - the story takes place when their little boy is 4. The author really makes you think as a parent what you would do if your child was about to be taken away. I read the book thinking about my own four year old little boy, Malachi, and what I wo

This MorningNumber of times kids have needed help bundling up to go outside... needed help UN bundling to come inside... Had to dry snow clothes in dryer because they are SOAKED.FOUR TIMES PEOPLE!!!And that was all before 12:30 pm.AUGHHHHH!!Am I the only one with such HIGH maintenance children??Good thing they're SO cute.... good thing.I got a few things done around the house this morning in between the running outside to replace wet or fallen off gloves for my 3 year old. That and shooing kids WAY to young to be snowmobiling alone AWAY from where my kids are playing.Think this will help?http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

This, That... and Oh...Did I mention it's SNOWING AGAIN???
2007-03-01 15:53:00
Around here school is NEVER canceled...NEVER.Mom... look at the tornado...should we run for cover?? Hmmm... guess not here comes the BUS. Hey mom... the snow is up to my knees on the road - guess there's no school huh? One would think... but here comes the bus....But, Behold... I guess a white blizzard with a predicted 18 inches of new snow (on top of the 2 feet we have) constituted closing down the schools. So... Isaiah is home today, excited to play all day in the snow. I'm actually glad to have him home today - we are having a dinner party here tomorrow night and when Isaiah's home Malachi and Josiah will actually spend time outside without me... so maybe I can get some cleaning done!!Josiah headed to the snow fortI almost forgot... this is what I painted... I know the pictures are dark... I took them at night without flash... and I'm to lazy to retake them...BEFORE:AFTER: With the chair and lamp I got for 85% off at Target!!! (also, picture it WITHOUT red floors, please)

It's Monday. Again.
2007-03-05 14:50:00
Monday. I am never ready for Monday.Saturday and Sunday are the only days I DON'T do laundry (sometimes Friday too - like this Friday) So... when Monday comes I am faced with a big pile of clothes that need to be washed, dried and folded. The amount of clothes a family of 6 goes through is INSANE.Overall very little housework gets done on the weekends... leaving me feeling overwhelmed on Mondays. We did have a nice weekend though... started out with a fun little dinner party on Friday - I made my "famous" Rajun Cajun pasta and some bruschetta - yummy!!!I decided I could eat bruschetta every. single. day.All it is (the way I make it anyway) is diced up tomatoes, diced garlic, diced basil, olive oil and shredded parmesan cheese. Mix it up and put it on some toasted bread or some baguettes - delicious!! Anyway. It was fun. It was yummy. I love me some good food.Saturday and Sunday Tim and the boys worked on the snow fort some more. Saturday morning I woke up with a really bad clogged

The Junk...It's Hiding...
2007-03-07 15:47:00
The laundry however...it's in plain sight....If you've read this blog very long you probably know that I can be a little OCD every now and then... My house gets messy, the laundry piles up, the dishes don't get done... that's life with 4 kids. And I'm ok with it...for a few days. But then I freak out andMUST. HAVE. CLEAN. HOUSE. NOW.It's my way people...don't judge me.So... if you come over, my house will probably "look" clean. What you don't see is the bazillion junk drawers, junk baskets, closets with stuff shoved in them.... My house is actually an unorganized MESS. If you opened any one of my junk drawers you would find things like old take out menus, expired coupons, super glue, kids papers, pens, nails, paint brushes....Don't hold me responsible if you so choose to open a drawer in my house... you could lose an eye, or a hand. You've been properly warned.Everyday I think to myself "today I'm going to clean up the junk" And I don't get to it because It makes a me

Hey Josiah.... I know your daddy is part Indian.... but do you think maybe your taking that a bit far???We are in the trenches of potty training - for reals this time... Josiah was wearing only a pull up, so it would be easier...He decided he wanted to go outside - this is how he prepared himself...yes, he did try to go outside like this. And now... Snip... Tie...Snip...Tie...Snip...Tie....
2007-03-13 13:40:00
We haven't decided if we are done having kids....Pregnancy is very hard on me, as you all witnessed if you tuned in to this blog back in August. Everyday was a major effort to just survive. But ALL my pregnancy's have been like that - all four. I can't imagine my life with out any of my kids.I know it's a cliche' - but 9 months of agony is nothing compared to what I get from that...my beautiful baby... my adorable toddler... my hilarious pre-schooler...my brilliant grade schooler....So when my mom keeps asking me if ...."Tim's been snipped yet?"Um. Nope. She even offered to take me to get my tubes tied when we come visit. Ya. No Thanks Mom.It makes me wonder what she would think if we did decide to have more... would she love that baby less... think of that baby as a mistake???And my mother in law who keeps saying"you should only have as many kids as you can afford"um.... we would have NO kids if we based it on that. Which is probably her point.I posted THIS from Elisabeth

Get Off Your Brother...
2007-03-15 13:06:00
I had a meeting yesterday morning... a meeting that I had to take my three youngest children to. Oh, sweet Lord, have mercy.Seriously... it was mortifying. Malachi and Josiah sat on the floor with toys fighting and screaming over them... sitting on each other, hitting each other...Yeah. Good times.I tried joking about it, you know between pulling one child off another, saying things like..."ha ha having a three year old and a four year old can be hazardous to your health... ha ha."The woman I had to meet with did say as I was leaving.... "you have the BEST baby... he's SO good!"I know.... he's an angel especially when in the same room as his brothers!!I went straight from the meeting to M.O.M.S which was so smart of me... (and completely unplanned) because I really was very upset with the kids... and it gave me an opportunity to1. get away from them for an hour and a half2. calm down and learn more about GodAnd for that I am glad.Oh... and about THIS post.... I did not mean to imp

You Will Lose Your Balance And Fall
2007-03-16 13:47:00
I got a taste of what I think it must be like to have multiple boys in different sports or activities. And decided to not let my boy's participate in anything.Ever.Staying home and reading books on the sofa is HIGHLY underrated.Okay... I'm kidding.... but seriously - that's A LOT of work!!Last night we had Malachi's kindergarten open house which started at 7 pm. And Isaiah is participating in an ice hockey trial period to see if it is something he would like to do next season - which ended a little after 7 pm.We all went to the hockey rink... Isaiah is doing very well, and Malachi:"really, really wants to play" "if I fall 8 times you can tell me to quit.... pleaseeeeee" While running off and trying to get on the ice.Malachi, Elijah and I left Tim, Josiah and Isaiah at the rink and ran to the open house where Malachi asked me after meeting some of the kids who will be in his class next year"now what's my new girlfriends name again?"When we got home Malachi was talking a mile a m

Look Who's 6 Months Old Today!
2007-03-19 13:36:00
Has it been 6 months already??? I feel like I am just coming home from the hospital with my newborn.Really. I do.I think part of it is having a hard time "bouncing back" although those women who "bounce back" so fast after giving birth are lying. You know... in my opinion.Part of it is thinking that Elijah very well could be my last baby. I love, love, love having my very own newborn... my very own little baby. Call me crazy, but it really is my favorite thing. Now, don't get me wrong... I love all my children, in all their stages of life - but their is just something about a baby that melts my heart.Sigh... and now my baby is 6 months old. When did I blink?So... let's see.... My little Elijah Samuel, you are grabbing things and shoving them in your mouth now, eating some solids... you love bananas and applesauce. You laugh out loud at just about everything, and no matter how sad you are you ALWAYS have a smile for us. Always. You seek people out - complete strangers and smile at

A Barbie Doll on a Flip Flop?
2007-03-20 19:35:00
Hi. Guess what? I'm sick. Malachi is sick. Elijah is sick. Again.Correct me if I'm wrong... but isn't "cold season" supposed to be over?Seems the two most recurring themes around here are being sick and to much laundry. sigh.Anyway. I finished the book 'Saint' by Ted Dekker... and it was as good as I had anticipated. I highly recommend all books by Ted Dekker. But before you run off and buy 'Saint' you need to run off and buy the trilogy: Black, Red & White and then read 'Showdown' and THEN only then can you read 'Saint'. You will be glad you did!!Now I'm reading 'Chocolate Beach'...As I was reading it Isaiah came over to me and examined the cover...Isaiah: Mom, what's the book your reading about?Me: Mmmm.... not sure yet honey, I just started reading it.Isaiah: Well what's the moral?Me: I don't know.Isaiah: Well... I'm curious to know because I'm wondering why there is a Barbie doll on a flip flop on the cover... seems weird.http://i67.photobucket.com/a

2007-03-21 17:49:00
Ever have those days... where you want nothing more than to run away to a place where you are all alone... and it's QUITE.oh sweet quite... poop free quite...ahhhhhhhOr is it just me?Malachi is whining (what else is new).Wonder where he gets it? Who me? NO... I NEVER whine. I had to take Malachi in to get his shots for kindergarten... he started kicking and screaming. He and Josiah bickered and pestered each other the. entire. time. The truth is that I hardly notice it anymore... I know they are bickering... but hello? when are they not bickering. I actually didn't pay any attention to it until the nurse tried to separate them and distract them.Good times people. Good times.Elijah had to get his 6 month shots - he didn't even cry. Which makes me wonder if he has really high pain tolerance like Isaiah. He weighed in today at 19 POUNDS!!! No wonder my back hurts. The doctor suggested we move him out of the infant car seat. Which makes me sad... because...He's my BABY..

A Word On Daylight Savings...
2007-03-23 14:47:00
What idiot made up daylight savings? I want to know so I can spank him. FOR TWO WEEKS NOW The kids have been staying up an hour longer… they keep getting up. Which means Tim and I have to stay up an hour longer than normal…but guess what? Does ANYONE get to sleep in? NOPE. (the kids COULD sleep in... do they? Nope.)Last week after putting the kids back in bed for the hundredth time Tim plops down next to me and says. “you know there are places that don’t do daylight savings… Arizona…Hawaii…Alaska…. (Ineligible mumbling... for a few minutes)...It’s time to move baby… I can’t take this anymore.”We did what any parents trying to stay sane would do... hung blankets on the windows with care. We've done that for a week now... trying to convince the kids that it IS dark outside... and NO you may NOT look out the window to confirm this.Is it working? Eh. Not so much.http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg

I've Been Buttered...
2007-03-22 14:53:00
Isaiah has been busy this week...His class did chapel on Tuesday... they acted out Matthew chapter 14. Reminding us that Jesus could have fed the 5000 people all by Himself, but He didn't. He used a little boy. He used a few loaves of bread and a few fish to feed 5000 people... why? Because that little boy was willing to give what he had to Jesus.Am I willing to give what I have over to Jesus to do what He wants with it?Why do I think I could make more of what I have than He can? This applies to all areas of out lives... give God our Marriages, see what He can do with it. Our children, our homes... every aspect of our lives. Time and time again I find myself trying to make the best of something, when I should be letting GOD make the best of it.So thanks for that reminder Isaiah... and all the 2nd graders.Isaiah has also been working on a derby car for the big derby car race that took place last night...This is an exact quote from the mouth of my 8 year old..."While we were workin

I Am The Mother Of BOYS...
2007-03-27 15:14:00
It Must Be Spring....I spent most of February longing for spring. A person can only handle so many 30 below 0 days before going insane. And now it is finally here.I was in the house feeding Elijah when I started hearing some thumping... sounded like it was coming from the roof... but that can't be. Hmm? The thumping continued. Finally I decided I needed to go and check it out, and see what my three little angels (ha!) were up to out there. And this is what I found...Apparently Isaiah thought it would be fun to put Malachi on the roof. And here are the boys playing in the remains of their snow fort...http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg
