HIS Timing… Not Mine 1970-01-01 00:59:59 photo taken end of September 2006I was reading THIS, which I can relate to. And I realized I haven't ever given much background on myself. I just kind of started writing from where I am at everyday.Isn't it funny how we assume people with one or more children don't deal with fertility issues? I know I used to think that. Until I had my own fertility issues. Isaiah, our oldest (8) came very easily… he is our honeymoon baby. I naturally assumed that it would be a piece of cake for me to get pregnant after that.It wasn't.(I have to share this about my pregnancy with Isaiah)While I was 7 and a half months pregnant with Isaiah we moved to North Carolina. While in the middle of seriously… nowhere (somewhere in Virginia) we got in an accident. Totaling the truck we were driving. My water broke that night. But I was unable to get to a hospital. By the time I finally did get in to see a doctor - they thought everything looked ok. Except for the fact that the baby wasn†Read more:Timing
HIS Timing… Not Mine (Part Two) 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Much like the world tells us that having one boy and one girl is the "perfect" family (Janet put it in perfect words HERE)... the world also tries to make us believe that the perfect family has all the children spaced at exactly two years apart. That's what drove me to tears and to the clomid treatments I talked about yesterday. But... get this...Isaiah & Malachi - (3 and a half years apart) get along the best. (Isaiah actually does really well with all of his brothers... He really thrives on being the oldest.)Josiah & Malachi (20 months apart) are at each others throats constantly.... to the point I think I'm being driven to insanity... seriously.I look forward to Elijah getting a little older to play with Josiah - almost a three year difference, which I think will be good. I wouldn't have known that three years apart is GREAT, if I had got away with doing things MY way. Thank God I didn't do it my way. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg Read more:Timing

Just Another Day...My Friends...Just Another Day 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Ohmygoodness. I had an appointment I had to get to at 11ish Wednesday morning. (yesterday) The day started like any other Wednesday. The kids were up by 6 am, Isaiah was showered, dressed, fed and out the door by 7:20 am. I put Malachi & Josiah in the tub by 8:00 am. What's this??? Yellow water??? (I know what you're thinking and no… it wasn't pee.) Smells like metal??? UGH. Darn water softener. We have a well. In the Midwest. Enough said So I stomp off to call the Culligan man… Culligan man say's he'll be right over. 10:45 am - I have the kids coats, hats, shoes on, Elijah loaded into his car seat… when I sniff out poo. Take off Josiah's coat & shoes… talk about going poo on the POTTY while changing him. That's when the Culligan man shows up. He looked a little taken back by the sight of poo - not my fault… he's the one who let himself in. I finally got everyone out the door and loaded into the va Read more:Friends

Where's my pain killers?? Dude...Seriously... get over here with my pain killers 1970-01-01 00:59:59 One word. shingles. Um. Ya. And we're NOT talking about those things on the top of your house.Seems as though my back and ab pain… not so much the exercising. Turns out it's shingles.Malachi was exposed to chicken pox a couple weeks ago… he's had the varicella-zoster immunization… but I'm thinking maybe that triggered shingles in me??So. I'm in a LOT of pain. And Elijah could get chicken pox.Oh and shingles can last months even years.Fun.http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg Read more:Seriously
I'm Sensible Like That. 1970-01-01 00:59:59 No school today. I was hoping the kids would entertain & take care of themselvesALL. DAY. LONG… Funny thing… they need a mother. So I did what any sensible mother with a bad case of shingles would do… Loaded up on the pain killers. Once I was sufficiently drugged up the boys and I made homemade pretzels… yummy. That's all I have today my friends… I'm busy trying to keep track of this medication I'm on… I have to take 10 (count em) TEN pills a day… and that doesn't count the pain meds. Keeping track of that pluskeeping track of when I nursed Elijah…plus those other three boys that keep running around here… let's just say my brain is on overload. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/tmndsrhjhn_photos/6.jpg Read more:Sensible
Protecting Purity 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Isaiah came home from school bummed today. He was invited to a birthday party, to which he wasn't allowed to go. I had actually forgotten that the party was today, you know with the pain killers and all, until I got to school to pick him up. There he was with this heart breaking look on his face, watching the party goers getting ready to head off to the party. "Mom, it's not to late… can I please go?" Were the first words out of his mouth as he climbed in the van. You see… the kids were going to go see a movie. "A Night At The Museum" Tim and I believe strongly that it is our job to protect our kids. They don't need to see movies that talk about divorce, or feature the children being rude to adults. We have not previewed a movie yet that doesn't to some extent use words that are rude, usually there is subtle sexual innuendo, usually the "children" are completely disrespectful to the "adults"…. And that's the G rated ones… donâ Read more:Protecting
Sorry marketing brain washers… you won't be getting your hands on my kid's brains 1970-01-01 00:59:59 This time last year we had cable. I loved my cable TV. I spent many evenings curled up on the sofa watching "While You Were Out", "Trading Spaces", and "Flip This House"…. I miss those shows. The problem? During the day I found me a handy babysitter. Oh Yes I Did! His name was Nick Jr. and he had all my kids favorite shows. And while usually the shows themselves were fine… (backyardagins, dora...) there were always tons and tons of commercials that gave me a sick feeling. The kids started asking for everything they saw…"Hey mom... we need the new dodge caravan with stow away seating!!!" We ended up getting rid of cable… it was just too convenient, even though it meant losing my favorite shows… sniff. But not before we had some good conversations with the boys about what a commercial is. That advertisers want you to buy their things, and to get you to do that, they will try to make you think that you need (insert product here) to be happier Read more:washers
Save The Chickens & Other Delightful Stories... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Nothing deep today... Elijah has croup now, and has found the only place he is truly happy is my shoulder. Also, he's stuffed up and isn't nursing well... so he has been nursing way more often for short periods of time. Exhausting stuff. Malachi's favorite sandwich this week ...Nutella & Banana (in the trend of Malachi pretty sure next week it will be "icky")(I discovered Nutella in Norway. It's a staple there.) Anyway.Last Night: Malachi: when I'm 7 will I still be Malachi? Tim: yes you will Josiah: I want Malachi to be "mal mal"… please? Your name is Malachi? Well, what should I call you? What Malachi tells people when they ask him what he "goes by" : Malachi: you can call me mal or you can call me kai or you can call me Malachi. (ps. Malachi likes to accommodate people… He "goes by" Malachi.) Trying Out Solids... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I mentioned yesterday Elijah wasn't nursing well, since he was all stuffed up. Half way through the day I had a brilliant idea!!Hey... he's 4 months old... I should try giving him cereal!!So I did.He thought it was strange at first. and then decided it was hilarious. I think he swallowed maybe two bites, the rest he just pushed out with his tongue.So. The One Where I Whine... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I'm feeling… tired. And frankly. Overwhelmed with my life. I want to look as though I have it all together, when I don't. I just don't. Every child needs something different from me. And that's hard. Isaiah acts up whenever he gets around kids older than him. I don't know what to do. Malachi is emotional, and a lot like me… which annoys me - and it shouldn't. And I hate that. Josiah refuses to eat. I hate letting him go hungry when he won't eat, but I don't want to give in and let him have snacks either. I don't know what to do. The kid is going to starve. Elijah is all stuffed up. I hate that I can't fix it. Boys are loud. Boys have a lot of energy. Boys are rambunctious. Boys are rowdy. Boys think gross things are funny. I'm a girl…(who grew up with ALL sisters I might add) and I don't always get it. And I want them to be quite. And I want them to think gross things are gross… and therefo

(I don't have a southern accent… nor do I say "Y'all" but it seemed fitting for some reason.) I need more patience. There I said it. I didn't want to say it, but it's true. After coming to that conclusion… I pulled up the devotional I read on Crosswalk, and found this waiting for me: "Waiting for Patience" I have some other "serious" things to share with "y'all" but I feel I've been a bit to heavy lately… and I'm sick of hearing myself. It Get's Easier? 1970-01-01 00:59:59 This post is not written by me… it is written by a mother who has been where I am… I REALLY needed to hear this. Some days I am about falling apart when I realize it is only 8am!! I have had so many of those "I can't do this anymore!" moments! And I know that as the Lord fills my quiver, I will have many more. I'm glad His mercies are new every morning. She has peeked right inside my heart….. It Gets Easier My first two babies were born 17 months apart. One morning, when Adam was one and a half and Stephen was a newborn, I was leaving ladies' Bible study after having picked them up at the nursery. In my left arm was Stephen and his 14-ton baby carrier, two diaper bags and a tote bag. In my right arm were my car keys, three coats and the pudgy hand of little Adam. Just as we exited the building, Adam exploded into a tantrum over something--I can't remember what--and I carried all 25 pounds of screaming boy, dangling from my right hand, his feet refusi

I've been making up excuses since Elijah was born. You know like…"I have to many kids"If you hadn't figured it out by now, I'll just tell you… I'm a homebody.I love to stay home. And while occasionally one might see me running from the house screaming "let me out of here" I'm usually fairly content to Just. Stay. Home.I know plenty of mom's who are very opposite of me… they go, go, go… if there is an activity to be attended… they are there. I look at them and think to myself… "I don't get it" because, it's just not me.So doing things like MOMS or Curves… it's a big deal. But… I went. As it was winding down Elijah started crying. One of the other mom's asked me if he was getting hungry… I was all…hmmm, not sure…what time is it? Turns out it was 12:30. Know what else starts at 12:30? Pre-school. I know... I'm not making any sense.it's the freezing cold.We are having to crank the thermostat up to 90 degrees just to get it to kick on . The house has still not been able to warm up beyond 65 degrees. So... boiler problem or just so cold it can't keep up problem?Now... trust me, I am thankful that the house is at 65 degrees... I know we could be a lot worse off. People's heating systems are going cur plunk all over the place. I just want to know if ours is starting to cur plunk or not. 6 Months & 6000 Visitors.... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I started this blog 6 months ago today... it's been a wild 6 months for me. I've been thinking about the good and not so good aspects of blogging and came up with this...It's basically a list of pros and cons, if you will; things I like about blogging and things I could do without.I like writing. Of course I could do it without a blog, but I never did very consistently. For me, knowing someone's "listening" encourages me to write more often, habitually if you will. On the other hand, it gets habitual and sometimes that's not a good thing. Like right now, when my sink is full of dishes, my living room chairs are full of clean laundry and my floor is full of dust bunnies.I like the contact with other people who are at least of voting age. For every-day contact my blogging friends are always "there". On the other hand, they're always there. So again with the habit thing.I like that people I know read my blog. On the other hand, people I know read my blog. Sometimes they misunderst Read more:Months

Make a little boys YEAR for the cost of a couple stamps!!! (updated) 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Karen over at Malachi's Memento asked me to help her spread the word about a little
boy named Shane.Shane is 7 years old and is having a birthday this month. All he wants for his birthday is to get cards from around the world, and all 50 states. My boys are going to work on making a couple
cards for Shane today... would you take a few minutes and do the same???If you do please leave a comment with your state/providence.Here is some of Shane's story...At almost 5 years old Shane was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After 1 month into the treatment he was in early remission, meaning there were no cancer cells in his blood. Shane's family was very pleased with the early results, but his protocol called for 130 weeks of treatment. Then on July 6th, 2006 Shane relapsed after completing 108 of the 130 weeks. It was a shock to everyone including his doctors. Shane may have to undergo a bone marrow transplant down the road, but the good thing is that his brother Jacob i

Please excuse me while I flood your computer screen with pictures.... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 One of my biggest pet peeves of blogging is when life goes faster than I can write about it. I want to be able to adequately convey "life". And while I never am able to share everything... I usually am able to share small samplings everyday.But. The last four or so days have been filled with stories, funny quotes and life that I haven't been able to capture. But pictures.... of course. The Boys spent Saturday making valentine cards for friends....Sunday some friends came over to sled and enjoy our heat wave of 15 degrees. And then Monday Isaiah woke up VERY sick... so I rushed him to the doctor. I kept telling the doctor that Isaiah has a very high pain tolerance - so I know it's bad when he acts sick. But... they sent me away saying it's a virus of some sort. There was a child contagious with chicken pox at the doctors office. I really do not want Elijah getting chicken pox - for the purely lazy reason of - it's a lot of work. I had overheard the nurse telling the parents Read more:Please

Happy Valentines Day... 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I've been planning today in my head for a few weeks now.In the past valentines day has been more about Tim and I getting away for a date... and we hope to still do that next weekend or sometime... but this year I felt God pressing on my heart to make today about our family. About my boys - all FIVE of them. So I spent some time at the dollar store this week - I found a bouquet of balloons, valentine cups and plates, candy, little presents, cards.... and then after the boys were all sleeping last night I set up the dining room table with all the fun treasures I had found. (except the candy...that will come later.)This morning Josiah was the first one out of bed at about 7 am. (with Isaiah being sick - we don't have to get up early to catch the bus) I could hear him on the baby monitor - he came out of his bedroom and walked into the dining room and gasped!
