caribbean colors
2007-08-30 07:27:00
one thing that i noticed here in puerto rico, the colors are so bright and alive. i think thats why they called it the caribbean colors, it is noticeable in the way they choose the paint for their houses or buildings. even the taco maker, which i always call taco bell, is bursting with bright colors. they always serve good burritos which i always enjoy. there's alot of bakeries here, almost every corner and hardware stores, and yes even pet stores. i think dogs are more popular here than cats cause when i placed my kittens for adoption, i received no replies. i guess, every area has their own faves.

coffee mountains
2007-08-30 07:21:00
one of the charms of maricao is its coffee mountains , by mid september you will notice the tiny red berries all over the place, its the start of the coffee harvest. my farm house is right on top of the mountain, and this is the view from there. the net structure is a plant nursery, i removed it last year and built a  new building. its still amazes me at how beautiful maricao is, even if i see it everyday. living in maricao means seeing nature up close....every single day.

art kiosk
2007-08-30 07:10:00
there are lots of art kiosks during the coffee festival in maricao, usually its around second week of february, the artesanias showcases their crafts and talents. a great time to find and shop for traditional puerto rican crafts, paintings and art works. its a 3 day event, and there are more than 100 kiosks to choose from. the maricao coffee festival is one of the biggest festivals in the island. the property that i am selling is just steps away from these artisans kiosks.

caterpillar
2007-08-28 17:26:00
coming home today i saw this caterpillar hanging for his life on a single branch of a yellow flower bearing tree. but i guess he is doing well. thanks to all those feets. who will ever thought that this caterpillar in time will soon become a colorful butterfly. lessons in real estate: it always takes time for everything to sell. place your feets firmly on the ground. its all about not giving up and hanging on.

library
2007-08-28 17:18:00
a blog reader asked me the other day to post a photo of the library and to describe it, thats pretty hard, just kidding. the library is located on the left wing of the house from the grand foyer, its beside the storage area, its a pretty good size library with a brand new glass table, that i never got to use, and an office chair. one side of the library has a built in book shelves with cabinet systems at the bottom, plenty of storage space, theres also a shelve that run all the way across the room, and another half size removable shelving system on the right side. it has a pretty extensive collection of books, from history, to literature, to interesting hardbound books, to tropical plants, all of these books will stay in the house. including the art accessories and decor. you can always add your books or create more shelving systems. its always a plus to have a library in any house.

the view
2007-08-28 17:06:00
i was in la parguera today, went to the grocery and pick up some stuff, i picked up the latest copy of the real estate book, last month, there was no real estate book in this grocery store, so it affected the exposure of the house in parguera since this is a popular area here in parguera, my realtor relies alot on this book as a medium to reach potential buyers, so as most realtors here in puerto rico, the distribution of this magazine is pretty extensive here, tourists, locals and property searchers always picks up a copy of this magazine which updates itself every month. i noticed that my realtor uses the view from the house as the photo of the property, i think its a clever idea, since it might touch on the curiosity side of the property searchers. i do hope we get some attention from this ad. fingers crossed. like what one actor in bourne movie said, hope for the best, prepare for the worst....the joys, of selling your house...like what my mom used to say, no sweat, no glory.

swatch
2007-08-26 07:10:00
i collect swatch watches, the other day in ebay, i lost on my bid for this watch, by a dollar. i was not paying attention, i thought i placed a strong bid. anyway, talking about time, if you're going to san juan, be sure to take a long time walking, admiring and looking in all the old buildings in viejo san juan, they are worth the trip. have a daiquiri in hotel convento, around $7, not bad its a nice hotel with lots of history. they have an inside courtyard, a perfect place to enjoy your drink

maricao coffee festival
2007-08-26 07:02:00
Just a typical day on the biggest festival in the island, the maricao coffee festival, this was taken from the restaurant's balcony.

school
2007-08-25 12:28:00
sometimes i wish i was back in grade school, i dont know why back then i can't wait to go to high school, i did not enjoy those years when i looked back, grade school should have been the best years of my life. notice the cobble stones, these are one of the reasons why i love san german. the other building on the right side is a nice facade of an old pharmacy, i think somebody already bought it, two years ago it was in the market, san german has potentials for tourism. but i always prefer parguera when it comes to investment because its a resort, there's the beach, the diving spots. and you can see a more active real estate as development companies are setting up apartments and condominiums, i think in the coming years, pargueras market will be very sophisticated, since it is the only nicest coastal resort in the island.

playful and trendy, the tourism campaign of korea is really fun to watch and has a modern touch.

A frame
2007-09-02 07:53:00
when i first moved to la parguera this is the first property that i spotted and truly liked. its an old surf shop, located right in the entrance of the resort, i saw alot of potential in this building. i like the fact that the roof has an A frame architecture, thats kind of unique in the area, when i stepped inside the balcony, i saw the view of the bay, so its really a very good location. i called the realtor, but in puerto rico, one of the minuses is they never pick up their phone, after days and weeks of attempts, i finally get her on the phone and she told me that they had sold the property for only 125K, and i mean that is such a steal cause the next property after this building right now is selling at 700K because parguera is one of the pricey location in the island. this A frame property also has i think 11 rooms cause the back side is hotel ready. a year later the new owner made a beautiful restaurant/bar area, the place becomes fancy, he placed a balcony and introduced t

parguera's beach
2007-09-02 07:40:00
Parguera is best known for its mangrove islands and diving spots. this is one of the mangroves that is just 3 minutes from the property. and if you don't have a boat, that's not always a problem, you can rent one here and they will take you all over the islands, more than 30 caribbean islands to explore, some islands have white sand beaches, some are just mangrove beaches. even at 12 midnight for $5 you can join a tour boat to see the phosphorescent bay of parguera.

la parguera balloon
2007-09-01 06:30:00
technically i know there's a term for this but like all the other locals i call it the balloon, this can be seen from the house in parguera, suppose to be they said it monitors and protects the islands, theres a closed area in parguera, its kind of far from the house more towards the mountain side but at night you can see that the place is all lighted up, i think its like a resource center that controls this balloon. this is just one of the interesting things that i discovered in parguera, but of course there's more from being a weekend party town and yet having quiet, clean and safe neighborhood to all the diving spots that europeans really love to go to, and its hard to trade all the quiet afternoons where i am just enjoying the views of the islands, its very calming, nice and serene.

sunset
2007-09-01 06:20:00
If you had not been to Puerto Rico, you are missing alot. There's so much to do here from living a metro lifestyle to having a close encounter with nature. Even just enjoying a simple sunset in the beach, Puerto Rico is truly the gateway to the caribbean.

before and after
2007-09-01 05:56:00
the maricao property is one of the hardest construction that i've ever involved myself in. first of all we are talking about an 1890 spanish building that survived the test of time. it took me almost a year to renovate the entire building, we took the entire top floor off and replaced everything while maintaining the same style because it is a historic building. The transformation of the building from a spanish historic structure to a functional restaurant and apartment is a work of time and love. like what i always said in most of my ads, it takes a lifetime of dreams to do this again because its really hard. few months ago somebody remarked, she said the whole town was shocked that one day they woke up and they saw a new structure that sprout just like that. little did they know that the construction is really one of the hardest undertaking that i've ever done, and i am not planning to do this type of construction ever again, because its just so hard.

fishes
2007-09-01 05:45:00
can you see those fishes? this is from a very nice board walk in ponce, few minutes from the parguera house. there's restaurants here, with great views of the bay, a tower that you can climb to for more view of the city. the last time i went there, i threw some food on the fishes and they fly through the air just to get those food pieces, they are used to people. on weekends the open restaurants has live music, and lots of locals and tourists swinging to the latin beat. such a great place to spend an afternoon.

pots and pans
2007-08-31 06:43:00
i always see art in everyday things, from how the cable is wired to pots and pans that are hanging from unfinished wall.

morning
2007-08-31 06:40:00
another day in sunny puerto rico!

plaza
2007-08-31 06:34:00
this is the plaza and the maricao church, just steps away from the property that i am selling, they have plans to renovate the plaza and the mayors office which is on the right side of the church, its a two year project, and they are going to start soon. a new hotel will also rise on the left side of the church, again just few steps from the restaurant. In just 2 years that i lived here, i had seen so much change and transformation, thats what they said, in puerto rico, the real estate is very active and there are many investors that are now looking into puerto rico as the location for their new projects.

fountains
2007-08-31 06:30:00
i was browsing through some images last night and i came across this fountain photo, which i really think is very nice and modern, a really great idea, to place bright tiny lights on the source of water and instead of having a huge single fountain, you can have multiple streams and add more elements to a traditional fountain, cool and clever idea.

latest in parguera
2007-09-17 09:07:00
i talked to one of the realtor who is specializing in La Parguera, she told me that right now there are 50 new houses that will be build near the property for sale. this only means that the time to invest is right now. these series of houses will be available in the next 2 years not to mention that there are alot of development companies that are starting long term projects at Parguera this is because its one of the most beautiful coastal resort in the island, and the best place to invest in puerto rico right now. i also learned that this house is the last property to be built on this area, because after this area its all protected lands, making this piece more valuable since this is the only property for sale right now in the whole neighborhood. so if you are interested to learn more about this property. call us at 787-5155899 and we will be happy to show the property for you, remember what you will be buying is the last piece of property that will be build on this area of villa de l

hallway
2007-09-13 16:28:00
this is the hallway that links to the grand bath with the drop down shower. its a pretty spacious bath, the room to the left is a walk in closet, before that is the master bedroom. don't forget to email me if you have more questions on this property.

signs
2007-09-13 16:22:00
if you are standing in a crossroads of life, which signs will you follow?

sgh
2007-09-12 10:23:00
there's sgh here. sunglass hut one of the biggest retailers of upscale sunglasses is everywhere, and their branch in viejo san juan is customized to adopt to the look and feel of town. but once you are inside, its still sgh, and all things familiar. usually for me, i like to get a new pair once in a while at american eagle, there's plaza las americas,  a mall in san juan, and its one of the biggest mall in the caribbean, and i mean the place is really huge, you need lots of shoe miles to go around the area, usually i will get my sunglasses in the ae branch there, and of course i can't resist to pick a shirt or two.

san juan
2007-09-12 10:08:00
one of my favorite views in san juan. i always enjoy walking here in the old port. there's alot of tourist here, so the place is always vibrant with life. this  is in viejo san juan, and there's an area in viejo san juan where you can see la perla, its an island  part of san juan known as the most beautiful slum in the world.

crabs
2007-09-09 17:28:00
few days ago i noticed a street peddler selling some weird looking creatures, so i approached him and i saw these, crabs on top of coconut husks, they are not alive though, i just don't know how he preserved them, he said he made them himself. very interesting, only in puerto rico.

the bell

who said that kittens are afraid of heights?

balcony
2007-09-09 06:12:00
sometimes, i wonder what it was like to live up here. open windows, tiny balconies overlooking the quiet plaza of the university town, rio piedras. bakeries downstairs. maybe its interesting to try. i always love old spanish buildings, because there's so much history in it. sometimes when i am staying in the apartment building in maricao, i wonder about the lives of countless people who once had used the building. i am sure even this building has its own story. how many people had once stood on this balconies and waved at passerbys?

stores
2007-09-09 05:41:00
it seems that in every corner here, i always see these stores .
