Cup and this week the Cup moves to the Deutsche
Bank Championship. After his win last week Steve Stricker now tops the FedEx Cup points and will be looking to have another good week to keep himself in the running. Tiger is back to defend his title for this one and will be sure to make things interesting as I feel the course really suits his style of play (don't they all).My predictionThe course is long and wide open and I think the winner will be someone who bombs the golf ball out there. Tiger, Scott, Mickelson, and V J are my top picks although Tiger will be hard to beat after his week o Read more:playoff
Golf Prodigy of the week #2 2007-08-27 20:03:00 I came across this youtube of a news report about a young golf prodigy Kyle Lograsso. This kid has the most amazing natural swing I have seen and hits the golf ball a mile for his age. He claims to have never even had a golf lesson and learned to swing from watching TV! Jealous of a five year old - you bet! What is more his father and mother have never played the game and this little kid hasn't been pushed into the sport like so many others. The most amazing thing about this story is at the end so watch it the whole way through and you will understand why this kid is golf prodigy of the week. This video has been used from youtube Read more:Prodigy
The Barclays - FedEx Cup playoff 1. 2007-08-26 22:12:00 Steve Stricker has won the 1st FedEx

in an amazing finish. When hope seemed to be lost he birdied four of his last five holes to close with a 2-under 69, turning a one-shot deficit into a two-shot victory over South Korean K.J Choi. This is Strickers fourth PGA tour victory and his first in four years. FedEx Cup Explained 2007-08-23 21:35:00 Well the first round of the FedEx
cup was played today and while Tiger wasn't playing there were still many formidable golfers plying their trades. The biggest mover, points standing wise, was Rich Beem who is ranked 134 in the FedEX Cup standings and could make the next round of the cup with three more solid rounds. Current Standings (day 1):Rory Sabbatini -8 K.J. Choi -7 Rich Beem -7 Brian Gay -6 Steve Flesch
Golf prodigy of the week - Amazing video 2007-08-21 23:29:00 Week 1Every week (or so) I hope to include a new clip of a young golfer with incredible talent. Although it will still take some very hard work, the right golf equipment and a pinch of luck to make it big these kids have a great head start - Natural Talent! Some of these kids hit the golf ball better than people who have been playing for years and seem to have that perfect balance and swing with a golf club.So are these kids the next Tiger Woods...?I think most of us have probably seen early video
of Tiger Woods and whilst these kids might not make it that far they are certainly showing great promise. Not all of them can (or will want to) be the next Tiger, but the chances are at least some of these golfers I will feature will make it big timeFirst up week 1 - Tyler StockThis video is hosted on youtube Read more:Amazing
Equipment Review - Maxfli Noodle Long and Soft Golf Balls 2007-08-19 22:22:00 Golf Ball ReviewMaxfli Noodle
Long and Soft golf balls are certainly not at the high price end of golf balls. Coming in at around $28 (Aussie dollars) for 12 they are affordable yet give regular golfers a very decent ball for their money. The Long and Soft Noodle Ball is designed to deliver that optimum blend between distance, soft feel and spin. It is a two piece ball and has a 408 dimple pattern engineered to deliver a high and long carrying trajectory.I first used this ball in my last round of golf and while my driver and I were not seeing eye to eye on this particular day my iron shots were certainly carrying further than I expected. Using my 4 iorn I was actually outhitting my playing partner who was using a 3 wood. Amazingly not only do these balls deliver great distance, but also great feel around the greens. I would certainly recommended these balls to the golfer looking for a relatively cheap ball that is still good quality. While I have certainly used better balls, they did co Read more:Equipment

Golf Rules 101 - Rule 5-3 Ball unfit for play. 2007-08-15 21:55:00 I am hoping to post a new golf rule from time to time to help us all learn a little bit more about the game we play, and possibly even save us from a few penalty strokes on our next round! Golf is certainly a game of rules and even a small mistake can cost you if you don't know where you stand!5-3. Ball Unfit for PlayA ball is unfit for play if it is visibly cut, cracked or out of shape. A ball is not unfit for play solely because mud or other materials adhere to it, its surface is scratched or scraped or its paint is damaged or discoloured. If a player has reason to believe his ball has become unfit for play during play of the hole being played, he may lift the ball without penalty to determine whether it is unfit. Before lifting the ball, the player must announce his intention to his opponent in match play or his competitor. He may then lift and examine it provided that he gives his opponent, marker or fellow-competitor an opportunity to examine the ball and observe the lifting and r Read more:Rules
How to perform the perfect golf swing 2007-08-14 06:42:00 I found this great little gem while searching youtube. The video has some great tips for imporving your golf swing
and it certainly has given me some things to think about next time I am on the course. It talks about positioning, gripping the golf club correctly, proper golf stance and the proper golf swing. It runs for about 9 minutes and the worst part about the video is the narrator. If you can get over his voice and watch it this video certainly has some good tips! Good Luck! This youtube video originally comes from videojug.com Read more:perform
Tiger does it again - PGA Championship 2007-08-13 00:25:00 Tiger has never lost a major after leading before the final round and he didn't disappoint today as he wrapped up his 13th Major title. It was Tiger's first major this year and he certainly put the disappointment of the British Open behind him to win the PGA championship for the fourth time.Tiger finished 8 under and won with a 1 under final round to beat Woody Austin by 2 shots with Ernie Els a further shot behind at 4 under. There was also good news for the Aussies out there as John Senden finished tied for 4th at -1.

Golf: Presidents Cup Preview 2007-09-26 20:40:00 The Presidents
Cup ExplainedThe presidents cup is upon us and the US team will go into the event as favorites. For those that don't follow golf closely or are new to the game the presidents cup is a team golf tournament between the USA and a team made up from every other country (except European countries). The tournament is very similar to the much older Ryder Cup between the USA and Europe. Each team consists of 12 players and the teams play singles and doubles events, which consist of both alternate shot and best ball formats (also called "foursome" and "four ball" matches). There is no prize money for this tournament and any money the this tournament makes goes to charity. How they qualifyMembers of the U.S. Team are selected based on earnings from the 2005 World Golf Championships until the 2007 PGA Championship.International Team players for The Presidents Cup 2007 will be chosen on the basis of the Official World Golf Ranking through the 2007 PGA Championship. Fall Series Explained - what's it all about? 2007-09-24 22:49:00 The fall series basically gives a holiday to the worlds top players, but for many on the tour it provides a chance to redeem themselves and make sure they regain their tour card.In this series of seven events the players are fighting to secure a spot in the top 125 on the money list to regain their card. They can also regain their card with a win at any of the seven events. Otherwise they will have to return to qualifying school or play on the nationwide tour. The following are the benefits a golfer can gain by playing the fall series (taken from pgatour.com):Tournament winners receive a two-year exemption on the PGA TOUR and an invitation to the season-opening, limited field Mercedes-Benz ChampionshipMercedes-Benz Championship guarantees a head start on the following year's FedExCup points race and minimum prize money of $65,000Potential to finish in the top 30 on the money list, which would earn a spot in the following year's World Golf Championships-CA Championship, Masters and U.S
Turning Stone Resort Championship 2007-09-23 20:24:00 The first event of the fall series has come to a close and while none of the really big names are playing there is still a lot at stake in these seven events. Players will be hoping for a top 125 money list finish as this will mean that they retain their tour card.Forty-year-old lefty Steve Flesch started the day with a four shot lead and needed most of it as he shot a final round 73 to beat fellow American Michael Allen by two strokes and claim his second tour victory in two months. Flesch bogeyed the first two holes on Sunday but steadied and earned $US1.08 million for his win to boost his earnings for 2007 to $US2.2 million, catapulting him from 70th on the money list into the top 30. Golf - anti doping / drugs policy 2007-09-21 04:29:00 Well it has finally happened the many golfing organisations have agreed on an anti doping or performance enhancing drugs policy, well in principle anyway. The first phase of the policy will encompass the actual development of the prohibited substances list and subsidiary policies. The second phase will see the creation of the general standards for the anti doping program. The anti-doping office of the world golf association will open in 2008. They will control the part of the policy which still allows for players to use controlled substances for medical and therapeutic reasons. They will also hand out penalties for breaching the new code. There has also been a large emphasis placed on educating the players. The major golfing organisations that have agreed to the policy include:Augusta National Golf Club European TourLadies Professional Golf AssociationPGA of AmericaPGA TOURThe R&A for The Open ChampionshipUnited States Golf Association for the U.S. Open, the U.S. Women's Open and the U
PGA to start drug testing - Breaking Golf News 2007-09-19 22:58:00 In breaking golf news today it is expected that the PGA will announce performance enhancing drug testing to possibly start in 2008. While no official word has been received the rumour mills are running hot with countless stories on the television and Internet. The PGA has held out testing their players for performance enhancing drugs, but looks to be bowing to the increasing pressure to come up with a solid drug policy.Stay tuned for more information! Golf begins to change: My thoughts on the FedEx Cup 2007-09-17 23:15:00 Firstly I must say that I enjoyed the fact that the golf heavyweights have tried something new. Golf is a game of deep tradition and making changes in no easy feat, but were these changes good for the game?I have read many articles and opinions on the FedEx
Cup and at the moment I must say that the general feelings are leaning towards the negative side. The negative argument focuses on a few key problems that people had with the formatPlayers pulling out - people hate it when big players pull out of tournaments for obvious reasons. There is also the conspiracy theories that say that the players were asked to pull out so that the FedEx Cup stayed alive until the last tournament. Not everyone can win it (realistically) - Some people are complaining that it isn't a true playoff unless everyone has the chance to win it. Maybe the PGA should have called it something other than a playoff to curb this? I personally think it is only fair that the better players throughout the season have a gre Read more:thoughts
Golf News: Tiger Woods wins the inaugural FedEx Cup 2007-09-16 21:09:00 Earlier today Tiger Woods
became the first winner of the FedEx
Cup with a personal best 23 under par tournament at the Tour Championship. He was at his absolute best during the event beating Zach Johnson Mark Calcavecchia by a massive 8 strokes. This was Tigers 61st win on the tour and needs only one more win to catch the great Arnold Palmer. Tiger adds the 10 million from the FedEx Cup to his retirement fund and takes home another 1.2 million just for winning the tournament. The dominant win means that questions about just how good Tiger Woods
is will continued to be asked and the answer just might be...the greatest ever!Leaderboard - Top 10 The Tour Championship 1 Tiger Woods USA -23 257 64 63 64 66 2 Mark Calcavecchia USA -15 265 65 66 63 71 2 Zach Johnson USA -15 265 71 66 60 68 4 Sergio Garcia ESP -14 266 68 64 64 70 5 Scott Verplank USA -11 269 66 68 67 68 5 Hunter Mahan USA -11 269 65 68 65 71 7 Vijay Singh FIJ -10 270 68 68 65 69 7 Tim Read more:inaugural
FedEx Cup - Can anyone stop Tiger? 2007-09-14 20:10:00 The Tour ChampionshipToday Tiger moved one step closer to winning the inaugural FedEx
Cup as he had one of the best front nines we have ever seen in a major tournament. Starting at the fourth hole he reeled off 5 birdies in a row and then shot an eagle at the 9th going out with a 28! The gloss came off slightly with 2 bogeys on the back nine, but still holds a 3 shot lead over Woody Austin. Woods now moves into prime position for the FedEx Cup and his closest challengers to the title seem to be too far away to stop him now. In the end Tiger would be a worthy winner after a fantastic regular season. It's just a shame it probably won't go down to the wire.Leader board after 2nd round: (Players theoretically still in the running for the cup in bold) 1 Tiger Woods USA -13 127 64 63 F 2 Woody Austin USA -10 130 65 65 F 3 Mark Calcavecchia USA -9 131 65 66 F 3 Adam Scott AUS -9 131 65 66 F 3 Tim Clark SAF -9 131 62 69 F 6 Sergio Garcia ESP -8 13
Golf: FedEx Cup - Who can still win it (and how) 2007-09-13 20:53:00 Well as promised this post will be all about the possible scenarios that can occur this weekend at the Tour Championship for each player still in the hunt to win the FedEx

Golf Prodigy of the week #3 2007-09-11 22:02:00 This weeks golf prodigy comes from Pennsylvanian 4 year old Louis Teachout. The video was made when he was 2, 3 and 4 years old and it really shows the development of his golf swing even at that young age. Like most other golf prodigy's this kid has a sweet, yet seemingly natural, golf swing. The first section of the video when he hits one golf ball after another is truly amazing and his putting later in the video is just as good. Most golf professionals now recommend that most kids should be spending more time on their putting than any other area as it is how championships are won (just watch Tiger some time!) Enjoy the video and watch out for this kid in the future. I am sure he will be playing off scratch in no time (I am just going to find a tissue to wipe my tears away!) Read more:Prodigy
Golf News: Tiger is the king of Cog Hill - BMW Championship (FedEx Cup Playoff 3) 2007-09-09 20:05:00 Tiger Woods has gone on to take his 60th tour victory at the BMW Championship and regains the lead on the FedEx

Golf News: BMW Championship - FedEx Cup playoff #2 preview 2007-09-05 20:15:00 Only the top 70 players are left standing for the 3rd FedEx
Cup playoff
the BMW championship. The roots of this tournament go back to 1899 when it was the former Western Open and make it the 3rd oldest golf tournament in the world (only the U.S open and British open are older). Only 30 players will remain in the running after this tournament so I expect their will be some fantastic golf.Phil Mickelson withdraws for the BMW championshipThe biggest news so far is that FedEx Cup points leader Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from the event because he says he needs to spend more time with his family. Now this could be seen as a serious problem for the FedEx Cup in the race to become golfs ultimate prize as you can't imagine Phil would not be taking a break in the lead up to say the British open or other major. My predictionWith Phil out of the running I think that Tiger will be the favorite and rightly so he has won at Cog Hill three times and has never finished lower than seventh on the cours

HSBC World Match Play Championship 2007-10-12 03:56:00 This is another of my favourite European Tour golf tournaments, maybe I just like it when things are a little different or something. For those new to the game match play this little snipet from wikipedia.org might help explain things better:Unlike stroke play, in which the unit of scoring is the stroke, in match play the unit of scoring is the hole. On each hole, the most that can be gained is one point. Golfers play as normal. The golfer with the lowest score on a given hole receives one point. If the golfers tie, then the hole is halved. Match
play scores of a game in progress are kept with a running tally. At the start of a match, the score is "all square" or tied. The score is then recorded in terms of one player's lead over another player. For example, if Player A has won 3 holes, Player B has won 1 hole and they have halved 2 (or any number of) holes, Player A is said to be leading, "2-up" (3 holes won minus 1 hole lost). These are the results from the first round (source www.eu Read more:World
Golf's ultimate fight - PGA Tour Versus European Tour 2007-10-10 22:30:00 I have been on holiday the last week so I am sorry for the lack of updates - some people have all the luck right!PGA Tour Versus European
TourThe PGA tour and the European Tour have been fight
ing for golf supremacy for years. The PGA tour has always been the more glamorous and offered the most money, but does that make it the best?Last week former Australian professional Brett Ogle created some controversy when he told viewers of an Australian cable television golf show that the European Tour was "about 2 shots behind the US tour." Ogle's opinion was brought to the attention of the commentators during the Dunhill Links Championship and they were most displeased with his comments as they believed that many of the European Tour events were very close if not equal to the US tour. They argued that because they had 7 of the worlds tops 20 golfers then the event was likely to be just as strong as a US tour event and that the different types of courses on each tour make it much closer than
Dunhill Links Championship - Dougherty Wins 2007-10-08 00:26:00 This tournament is one of my personal favorite European Tour Events. If you haven't heard of it then I will explain it very quickly. The tournament is played at 3 different courses over the first three days with final round being played at the "home of golf," St. Andrews. There is basically two sides to the tournamentPros playing for themselvesPros also team up with an amateurTeams of one professional and one amateur play one round each at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. It is a men's professional event, but women amateurs may enter. The leading 60 professionals make the cut to play in the final round, as do the leading 20 teams, whether or not the professional member of the team made the cut personally. (source Wikipedia)In my opionion playing the tournamnet over 3 different courses really makes it interesting and even adding some celebrity amateur's doesn't seem to cheapen the event. It is the richest golf tournament on the european tour and the winner takes home $800000 U Read more:Dunhill
