Patrick Johnston 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Fanciful, lopsided, charming, and lovable, PatrickJohnston
's teapots have little in common with their sensible, symmetrical counterparts. His functional vessels are more than just hot beverage dispensers — each pot is also a storybook character in one of the artist's whimsical tales. "For me, teapots are representative of communication," said Johnston. "You invite someone into your home, serve tea, and talk. My work is all about pure communication, and the stories I write are about freeing yourself from whatever is holding you back"Full article byby Elizabeth Schwyzer

Ethel Frattaroli's Collection 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Ethel Frattaroli has a collection of nearly 5,000 teapots in Newton, Boston, MassachusettsThe collection ranges from traditional English teapots to novelty pieces. The attic display is the encore to a show that begins the moment you enter the house through the kitchen, where a wall clock features teapots for numbers.Despite a bit of osteoporosis, the 4-foot-11 -inch strawberry blonde scurries about to show off her collection.Teapots fill the dining-room shelves and sprawl across the table. Frattaroli received 30 for Christmas, each of which she recorded in a special book. She said she is just 19 short of 5,000.In the small foyer is a cabinet with five shelves, all filled with teapots. It was built by Frattaroli's sister, a carpenter who constructed cabinets and shelves throughout the house to accommodate the collection.More teapots line two long shelves that stretch down the first-floor hallway."You can't be fat if you want to fit through here!" Frattaroli joked.Read the full article

Chef's Teapot Collection. 1970-01-01 00:59:59 By Chef at Home cooking "I drink tea every morning. At an early hour, efficiency comes first. So I pad into my kitchen and push the button on a new Fillips hot pot to boil water. Spoon tea leaves into a little brewing ball (when I'm too lazy I use tea bags), drop the ball into my cup filled with boiling water and my tea is ready to drink. Fast and efficient. But when I have time to spare or to entertain my guests I brew my tea in teapots from my little collection. I value my teapots not only for their function of brewing tea, but because they are sculptural artwork. I love standing in front of the shelf, comparing the contrasting shapes, watching the play of light on the varied surfaces. As art, they lighten up my day. Which teapot I choose depends on the occasion and my mood. Each has its own story. I like to brew lavender relaxing tea in seashell form or in elephant form teapot from the red Chinese clay , black tea in English porcelain teapot and my favourite tea with milk in glass Read more:Teapot
