is in my opinion one of the most romantic churches around Riga. It was built in 1766. Johann Gottfried Herder was serving as a pastor in this church during 1766 - 1769.Yes, and we have a little bit of snow here. Very little bit.

This warehouse is located in the Latvian Ethnographic Open-air Museum in Riga with many other nice and old buildings.

is on the Daugava river left bank near Riga. Once it stood on the island, but when they built Riga hydroplant, it became peninsula. Inside the manor there is a Daugava river museum, around it there is a nice park you can walk around.

If you go across the Gauja river on A1 motorway, after some kilometer on the left there are two lakes - one smaller and one bigger. We went to explore what's happening around the bigger one - called Dzirnezers. Well, passing by on the road you can not immagine what's there. Old camping houses, looks like families are using them as summer houses. And further in the forest - some village like in the middle of nowhere. The lake itself looks dirty and unpleasant.

Rich inhabitants mean big taxes paid, and big taxes paid mean big money for everyone including other people. Walking around the town you can find many places where you can wonder where the tax money goes. Like this place in the photo.
Ghetto Or What? 2008-02-04 14:53:33 [Picture Location]This weekend I went around to make some pictures in grey weather conditions. I have to learn to do that since most of the winter is exactly like that.I went to Baltezers to look for Riga water supply musem, I thought may be there was something worth making photos. At the motorway there was a sing saying that the place is 3km away. That was the only sign I saw. I followed it but didn't see any further signs showing direction. So, I didn't find it. So, I can't tell you if there is anything worth seeing.Instead I rushed into some industrial buildings dating something around the beginning of 20th century. I like these kind of buildings, but this place looked like some ghetto or something. A carpet hanging on the rope, abandoned greenhouses, abandoned gardens... Didn't see any Read more:Ghetto

They wanted to forbid the hunting of lynxes, but we have them in our forests just enough to allow some control. This season it is allowed to shoot 94 of them.
