Six Things to Consider When Proposing Marriage 2007-12-07 16:19:01 There are a few things that many of us don’t think about when it comes to marriage proposals. The reason is probably because it’s a hard thing to prepare for, and because it hopefully doesn’t happen that often.
Here are a few ideas for those of you on both the proposer and proposee side.
1) If you choose to ask your soon-to-be fiance’s parents, think through the words. You’ll be nervous and there’s no need to be unprepared. A friend of mine recently asked his girlfriend’s dad what he thought about marrying his own daughter. The father’s response was to laugh and say that he already had a wife. Awkward.
2) Making the moment special is important, but don’t get so caught up in the dramatics that you lose sight of love. Keep it sweet and keep it about the two of you.
3) If you have an idea that you may be proposed to soon, take a minute or two to think of how you will accept. During the actual moment you may be so overcome that you are speechless. Th Read more:Consider When
eHarmony, For One and All. Or Maybe Not. 2007-12-18 11:24:34 There are many online dating sites, each having their own unique flavor that I recommend, however, I have a hard time recommending one in particular. eHarmony.
Although eHarmony has a unique, and somewhat private matching system, a mission to counsel married couples, and also a self-proclaimed diverse pool of singles, there is one thing that they won't do: help the gays.
In May a California woman filed a lawsuit against eHarmony claiming that they would not help her find a mate because she was a lesbian. eHarmony claims that it is not opposed to offering this service it just does not do it at this time.
Fair enough, but something tells me that a company founded by a minister with ties to Focus on the Family isn't too eager to do so.
It appears that eHarmony doesn’t help all heterosexuals either. A close friend of mine hesitantly went online to complete the tedious application process only to be told that eHarmony couldn’t match her. The automated response said that on Read more:Maybe
Dating Tip: Don't Show Your Date a Picture of Another Girl's Boobies 2007-12-15 19:02:52
I had an online romance a couple years back that I’m reminded of from time to time when I hear about perverts with camera phones. Sounds strange, I know, but after being introduced to a topless woman via camera phone let’s just say I’ve been a little scarred.
It was our second date after a short week or ten days on phone and e-mail. I met him on EliteMate.com and we quickly had a connection. He had a great sense of humor and seemed to be really interested, at least until the camera phone incident.
We were at an Irish Pub in my neighborhood enjoying a good ol’ Irish beer when he decides to tell me about his day off. He talked about how he surfs early in the morning and then naps on the beach until about 11 or so. Today, however, he was there a little longer because of this girl who was laying out topless.
I didn’t scowl, I just sat and listened acting completely interested all the while wondering if he realized what he was saying. My wonderment soon Read more:Dating

Writing Profiles Online 2007-12-13 11:42:25 A well-written profile is equivalent to having good table manners on a first date. If you don’t pay attention to the basics in dating either online or offline, you could miss out on a romantic connection.
The analogy of table manners is the same as having an organized and logical profile. Now this doesn’t need to be an eloquent five-paragraph essay, but just like in meeting someone face to face you have only seconds to impress that person. So choose your words wisely. Avoid swearing or using slang (at least use them sparingly), stick to point, and don’t bore your reader with details.
More importantly, be creative.
Don’t describe yourself in a cliche or generic way. Read the profiles of ten women and men in your area with characteristics similar to yours. Research your written profile by searching out your competitors. In reading these profiles list the things those people mention and notice the pattern, for example, does almost everyone mention travel, interesti Read more:Profiles
What Do Drunk Men and Moving Have in Common? 2007-12-11 12:57:01 There are two situations in life where men feel compelled to flirt with women in an overbearing way.
The first and most obvious is the drunk situation. A little bit of false confidence can go a long way when a guy is mustering the courage to talk to a girl.
The second is when a girl needs help moving into or out of her apartment. Men often feel that by moving her dresser, for example, they’ve somehow exhibited super-human strength that she surely cannot resist.
I had the pleasure of enduring both of these situations (at once) the other night while helping out a friend. My friend is moving to a faraway land called San Diego, and so she has decided to sell all her furniture. We were standing in front of her apartment building, with her couch right next to us I might add, waiting for someone off Craigslist to come by when this man comes stumbling around the corner.
Now in normal life, this guy is probably alright. But he was wasted and insisted on helping us load this couch into th Read more:Moving

Fergie and the Famous Pee Incident 2007-12-21 10:10:55 One of my best friends has a wonderful, robust laugh and a weak bladder to go along with it. One of her favorite lines is “That’s so funny I almost peed myself.”
Peeing your pants can be a little funny, but it can also be humiliating. Just ask Fergie
.
Last summer in San Diego the singer had a little accident while on stage with her buddies The Black Eyed Peas. (Peas, Pee. Get it? A little ironic I think.) At first her reps claimed it was sweat, but later Fergie came clean about the uncleanliness. Its simple: she just couldn’t hold it. Â
Nothing more to report on that. Over.

Boyfriend Abuse: Superbad Makes Me Violent 2008-03-09 15:04:40 Anyone who knows me well can attest to my non-violent nature. Last night that non-violent side of me disappeared after three glasses of wine and 1 1/2 hours of watching the movie Superbad.
And that something is misdirected violence.
While sitting on the couch I practiced balancing a tennis ball on my head with arms spread wide. [...]
The Pros and Cons of Dating a Pilot 2008-03-07 10:57:25 During some recent travel I overheard a lot of romance talk from airline staff. I heard things like:
(Woman on cell phone) “What am I supposed to think when I see you traveling with a woman during the holidays?”
-and-
(3 flight attendants on the shuttle) “My roommate, another flight attendant from another airline–can’t keep her mouth shut. [...] Read more:Dating

Dear Ex-Boyfriend, You Were a Bad Kisser 2008-02-29 10:11:38 Dear Bad Kisser:
I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to offend you or hurt your feelings by shrieking in disgust after our first kiss. Many times I liked you and didn’t want to ruin “a good thing” by being so picky about something as small as a kiss. But the reality is that a [...]

Meeting Men on Mass Transportation 2008-02-26 10:09:56 Commuting every day on mass transportation can give the mind a lot of time wander. Dating Tip: Do a Dental Check Before a First Kiss 2008-02-23 18:27:42 I’ve had many bad first kisses in my time. For that matter, I’ve had plenty of bad second, third, and fourth kisses too. One of the worst kisses involved an injury.

The World’s Shortest (and most realistic) Fairy Tale 2008-02-21 09:55:03 Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl “Will you marry me?” The girl said:”NO!” And the girl lived happily ever-after and went shopping, dancing, camping, drank martinis, always had a clean house, never had to cook, did whatever the hell she wanted, never argued, didn’t get fat, traveled more, had many lovers, didn’t [...] Read more:World
