The J-Pop jukebox... M-Flo loves Alex (of the Clazziquai project) - Love me after 12AM
2007-10-28 18:59:00
I've posted 2 of M-Flo's videos, but have yet to actually post a song of theirs. So this is me...posting an M-Flo song. This M-Flo song is taken from the duo's fifth studio album 'Cosmicolor' and features Korean vocalist Alex Chu of the Clazziquai project.I really dig the laid back vibe this song has. "Love me after 12am" was a song I didn't really take notice of when I first bought 'Cosmicolor'. It wasn't until months after when I was busy doing something and had the album playing away in the background. This song came on and I was like "Ooooo, where was this track hidin'!?" It has a very Craig David vibe about it, especially the intro. Thankfully Alex's voice isn't as annoying as Craig's. Something about Craig David's voice just annoys me and doesn't allow me to enjoy any of his songs. As with all of M-Flo's songs, the beat is funky and goes through some metamorphic changes as it bounces along and when I mean change, I'm talking a complete 180. This song goes from a

I had received a couple of comments and e-mails (ages ago) informing me that the files to pretty much all of my remixes were conked out and wouldn't play. I'd been trying to sort them for some time, but today I finally decided to get all of the songs back up and playing again!! Though knowing my luck they'll all mess up again within a day or two.The Street Fighter music tribute is back online, along with all of my original remixes. All of the files stream and take a while to buffer and play, so be patient if the files take a while. All of these remixes and renditions are ones I did ages ago. So if you're new here and haven't checked any of them out, then please do.I wish I could be consistent and say I'll bring you a remix every week, but I go through phases: months of nothing and then months of doing two at a time. Hopefully I'll be able to share something new with you soon. You can use the buttons in my sidebar to access all of Street Fighter remixes and original song remixes

Game review: Sin and punishment
2007-10-28 18:05:00
I could moan about why this game wasn't released outside of Japan for 7 years, but I hadn't even heard of it until a few weeks ago. So it'd be stupid for me to moan about getting this game late when I was oblivious to it for the 7 years that many pined for it. I am however still grateful to Nintendo for giving this a European release, because the game is pretty decent and satisfies my craving for a good old retro shoot 'em up. Though I think I bit off more than I could chew and got a tad more than I initially bargained for when I downloaded this from the Wii shop.Sin and punishment is retro gaming for those who like their games old skool and I mean OLD skool. Sin and punishment is like a cross between StarFox and Space harrier. That may not sound like an enticing mix for some gamers, but trust me when I say that it works well and makes for a pretty fun game. I'm already sick of typing the full name of the game, so I'll be referring to it from here on out as SaP.SaP has you contro

Japan's best ass
2007-10-27 16:50:00
Swiss underwear company 'Sloggi' held a competition in Japan to see which girl has Japan's best booty. The whole contest was filmed and as is always the case, is up on YouTube. The judges must've had a hard time, because most of the participants have arses as flat as pancakes.Somebody pass me a flashlight, because I'm looking for a booty. Where is that girls' booty? Can you see it!? Because I sure as hell can't. I've seen more booty on ironing boards. The judges must've thought "F**k it. None of these girls have even a smidgen of a booty, so let's just vote for the girl with the biggest rack" - because what the winning girl lacks in the back, she compensates with in front. I doubt any of the guys there even cared. They got to watch a bunch of Japanese girls make arses of themselves (literally) on stage wearing bikini's. Not a bad way to spend a day by any means. It's been a while...
2007-10-27 14:16:00
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is wow. I've only played 40 minutes of it and the first 40 minutes of the game is better than the whole of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. Retro studios did NOT mess around with this game. The high production values of this game hit you as soon as you see "Nintendo and Retro studios presents..." and then the main menu. Before I'd even created a file I was thinking "Shit, this looks hot!". Metroid Prime 1 and 2 both sucked me in with cool title screens and menu's - like a moth to a flame. I was scared when I first put the game in though, because it didn't show up on the disc channel. I was sitting there waiting, ejecting the game, putting it back in and nothing. Until I finally accessed the channel and was promted to perform an update. *Phew!* I was not looking forward to having to go all the way back to ASDA to get an exchange on a dodgy copy of the game. I really couldn't handle three days straight of that damn store. The controls in Corruption are something e

Cool music video: M-Flo loves Minmi - Lotta love
2007-10-26 18:59:00
The first of my 'Cool music video ' posts was of an M-Flo video. These guys always do really cool music videos and I loved the one they did for "Lotta love". The song is a collaboration between M-Flo and J-Reggae (Yes. Such a thing exists and it should be made illegal as 99.9% of it sounds awful) artist Minmi. Neither M-Flo or Minmi feature in this video. Instead, young kids play them. The dude that plays Verbal of M-Flo has his mannerisms down so pat that it's eerie.M-Flo loves Minmi - Lotta loveDirected by Shigeaki Kubo© 2007 Rhythm zone, AvexTraxWhen I first heard this song I didn't like it. But then the video made me like it. The kids look like they're having a hell of a time and don't look awkward and nervous like some kids do in videos with a similar concept. Destiny's Child's "Bootlicious (remix)" video comes to mind. One of the young girls playing Missy Elliott looks like she's about to cry and wants to go home. The kids in M-Flo's video on the other hand look like t

Corrupt me you stupid bitch!!
2007-10-26 16:38:00
I have it bad. I came to that realization when I made myself late for work as a result of making buying Metroid Prime 3: Corrupt ion a priority. Karma kicked me in the arse for it though, because I got stuck at work for an additional half an hour hunched over a computer and on the phone trying to fix a mess another colleague had caused.I bought Phantom hourglass yesterday an dhave barely had a chance to play it! I got a 5 minute session on it before bed and then a 5 minute one during my lunch break at work today. I'm never taking my DS into work again. Colleagues kept asking me questions about it, wanting to snatch it and have a go. So far I'm really liking Zelda on the DS though. My initial impressions of this game are alot more positive than those when I first played The Windwaker. The beginning of that game was friggin' boring. Watching a girl with a telescope, talking to a woman walking with a pot on her head and watching an old woman rock in her chair was not fun.I've only play

Third time will be the charm
2007-10-25 14:17:00
I went to ASDA this morning (as I said I would last night) and my hook up: the brain dead, old Indian dude wasn't working the Audio and visual deprtment today. Instead there was a senior member of staff who was on the ball. She found a copy of Phantom hourglass in a jiffy (I knew that stupid bitch working last night didn't look properly) and when I asked "Oh, and have you got any copies of Metroid Prime Corruption" she went... "Hmmm...it may not have been released yet... Lemme check my folder". When I'd asked if she had Metroid and she didn't say "Huh?" "What?" or "Sorry, what's the name of that?" I knew my window of oppurtunity was closing and as soon as she went for the folder, I knew it was over and I wouldn't be getting Metroid. So I'll have to buy it tomorrow like everybody else.I'm stoked about having Phantom hourglass though. I've read nothing but good things about it. The handheld Zelda games always get glowing reviews and heaps of praise, yet I've never owned any of

Game I want: Medal of honor: Heroes 2
2007-11-01 14:37:00
I have never touched a Medal of honor game in my life. But Medal of honor: Heroes 2 for Wii has me wanting to touch it all over. The graphics look like shit. I bet the PSP version of this game looks better than the Wii one. But let me explain why I want this game. Online play which supports up to 32 PLAYERS and NO FRIEND CODES!!! I am so sick of Nintendo insisting on new Friend codes for every first party online playable game. It'll be so nice to just hop online, park in a lobby and jump into a game. If EA can get this right, it'll definitely set a standard on Wii as far as online playable titles go. There's currently no word on whether the game will support voice chat or messaging. But given how the only microphone to be released on the Wii is the karaoke mic that comes with Boogie, I think voice chat is doubtful. Unless EA insist we buy that Boogie rubbish and sellotape the mic to our necks.According to many sources out there in Internet land, the controls in this game rival Me

Game I want: Trauma center: New blood
2007-11-01 14:33:00
I said yesterday that there were a couple of games I was really looking forward to and wanted and here is one of 'em. I'd been deliberating over whether to buy Trauma center: Second opinion for some time. The fact I still really want this game is probably a sign I should be it. But I'm choosing to hold out for the sequel, which looks to be coming along nicely. Trauma center: Second opinion put me off because it wasn't that much of an upgrade from the DS version (Trauma center: Under the knife) aside from the controls, which were and are still are considered to be a brilliant showcase for the Wii remote. I'm a bit wary of re-releases unless they feature a great deal of enhancements or are complete overhauls such as the Resident evil remake or Metal Gear Solid: The twin Snakes for the GameCube. First blood feels more like the game I think people wanted from Second opinion and I think those who like myself were sat on the fence about buying the first game, will probably buy this one.

The jukebox plays... Jennifer Lopez - Brave
2007-10-31 18:59:00
Jennifer Hope-lez can't sing for shit. But she gets good beats and good material alot of the time and the choruses to most of her songs have backing vocalists who can actually hold a tune and pretty much drown her out. It's these aspects make her songs listenable. Her latest album "Brave " sticks to the formula of having backing vocalists drowning her out vocally on choruses, but the good beats and good material are seriously lacking. However, one track stood out for me and that was the title track "Brave"."Brave" is produced by the Swedish producion duo Bloodshy and Avant (the guys responsible for Britney Spears' "Toxic"). Their productions are usually heavily synthesized, frenetic, feature vocoders and some cool studio wizadry. But "Brave" has them tapping into a softer, more melodic and organic sound. I especially love the piano intro and strings. As a result of Bloodshy and Avant's production and some decent lyrics that I'm pretty certain Jennifer didn't write herself - the so

The grape lady goes down
2007-10-31 18:45:00
Can't these wine makers need to buy a damn machine to squash and juice the grapes or at least use a stone block or something!? If I was a red wine drinker I would want to sip my wine knowing that I'm not going to be tasting grape with a twang of foot and possibly somebody's toenail. As for that grape lady, she sounded like she was being raped by a Sea lion as she was about to transform into a werewolf. I bet she was in no hurry to return to work after that nasty fall on national television. She probably has nightmares of grapes punching her in the face and suffocating her. Poor woman. One death, a string of vandalized cars and a copy of Super Mario Galaxy
2007-10-31 17:30:00
A girl at work today told me how it was in her local paper that a guy got killed on the motorway. She then went on to tell me how her car had gotten broken into a couple of days ago and that guy responsible was the one who got killed! It turns out that this one guy was part of a little group of arseholes who attempted to break into near enough every car on this girls' road. I said to her "He got killed? Oh well". I know it may seem pretty wrong to be so nonchalant about the guy dying, but look at it this way: If he was at home being a good little boy and he wasn't out on the streets being a crook - he wouldn't have gotten chased by the police and then gotten killed on the motorway. His death was a result of a chain reaction of events that he started. HE got himself killed. I really have little sympathy for him. I know there's a mother and a father out there who are grieving over their sons death. Losing a child is not something a parent ever wants to go through. But he broke the la

The sounds of Super Mario Galaxy
2007-10-30 17:18:00
Nintendo put out a video a couple of weeks ago of an orchestra performing a piece of music from Super Mario Galaxy and it sounds incredible. It gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it. It's f**king magical. It sounds way too grand to be the music for a stage. The song climaxes and ends big like it should be playing when the end credits roll. When Hikaru Utada and I get married, she's walking down the aisle to this shit. Koji Kondo and the Japan philiharmonic orchestra will be flown in to play this live at our wedding. I can't believe how nonchalant Kondo, Miyamoto and the Nintendo crew were as the orchestra played. If I was there and had heard one of my compositions come to life like that, I'd be snappin' fingers and throwing elbows all over the place. I wish I had even an ounce of the talent it takes to compose and arrange a piece like that. I really am in complete awe. This marks the first time a Mario adventure will feature fully orchestrated pieces. A total of 28 pieces of

Brawl...and give generously
2007-10-30 12:00:00
Super Smash Bros. Brawl is quickly shaping up to being one of the most high profile and biggest releases on Wii. Yes. Even bigger than Super Mario Galaxy. The game is being so loaded with features that I'm already wondering how Nintendo will ever do a sequel. Brawl is going to be so chock a block with features that Nintendo could potentially end the Super Smash Bros. series with it. And this is only based on what they've disclosed to us so far. You can bet there's a bunch of other stuff that they probably won't reveal until the game releases. The thing I'm loving about how this game looks is that it has a real sense of community play about it. Allowing players to share stuff with one another and play against one another. Nintendo will probably butcher it to f**k with those nasty Friend codes and some clunky options and restrictions. But I live in hope they'll be a bit more lenient. Two recently revealed features that I'm really digging are the stage builder and recordable brawls

Album review: Britney Spears - Blackout
2007-10-29 21:43:00
In between going out in public, flashing her vagina, shaving her head, putting on a ton of weight, looking a right tit at the VMA's and losing both of her children - the mess that is Britney Spears managed to record an album. Now, I know I could lose some cool points for saying that I have listened to said album and posting a review of it. But I really don't care. I'll say this here and now. I've listened to Britney's album a couple of times and I actually like it. I really do like it.Britney is messed up, looks a wreck and probably doesn't know what day of the week it is. But she was smart with her album; recruiting hot producers who delivered solid material as a result."Blackout" is definitely more of a showcase of the producers and songwriters than Britney herself. The album is evenly divided between Timbaland's protegé Danja and the production duo behind Britney's widely critically acclaimed "Toxic", Bloodshy and Avant. Between Danja bringing in synthed out club stomping n

Gettin' down with Rundas
2007-10-29 17:08:00
I was just about to lay the smackdown on Rundas when a beat kicked in. A beat that was so good I had to bring up the logbook and turn it up. Rundas' boss battle theme kicks some serious arse. It's f**king awesome. I'll definitely be hunting the Internet for an mp3 of it. I think I may delay beating down Rundas so I can bubble along to it. I'm in shock at what a beat it has on it. It sounds like Timbaland and Danja produced it!It's a shame that despite actually liking Rundas and his Timbaland and Danja produced boss theme, that I'm going to have to kill him. He was a pretty cool character (pun not intended) and he had a cool voice too. It reminded me a little of Solid Snake's. Really gravelly and just a damn cool voice all round. It's wierd to think the last 2 Metroid Prime games had NO speech whatsoever aside from the odd computer voice over. I'm not even going to waste brain energy wondering if Samus will ever speak, because I know she won't. Nintendo's main characters all

Kelly Rowland hearts DS
2007-11-06 16:54:00
The DS sure knows how to attract the ladies. Jessica Alba went on about how much she loved her DS and now Kelly Rowland is singing its praises too, by saying she's currently dating it! Thoughts of what Kelly does with the DS stylus in her own time aside - the DS is a great way to to kill some time. Something I'm sure Kelly has alot of, seeing as she pretty much has no career.Kelly should talk to some developers and take advantage of how shit loads of gaming sites and blogs have posted on Kelly declaration of love for the DS. If Mary Kate and Ashley can get a DS game green lit, then I'm sure Kelly can. I think Power Stone: The child of Destiny would go down really well. Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle as main characters, with ex booted out members LeToya, LaTavia and Farrah as unlockable bosses. Beyoncé could turn into a super saiyan and grow a super big blonde weave when she goes into power fusion mode, Kelly could fire unsold copies of 'Ms. Kelly' as a special attack and Michelle c

Addicted to Nodame
2007-11-06 13:43:00
Over the past two days I've been watching Nodame cantabile non-stop. Nodame cantabile is a manga which focuses on music students Shinichi Chiaki - an accomplished pianist and violinist who aspires to be a condictor and Megumi Noda - a piano virtuoso who has no desire to play professionally. Both of them are well known students at their music academy and their actions impact many other musicians who study at the academy. Chiaki is a rich, cold hearted bastard who strives for perfection and has a fear of playing on planes but is well respected, whilst Noda is an immature slob who isn't all that respected at all. Some shit happens, Shinichi and Megume cross paths, their destiny's interwine, shape the futures of others, they make each other better musicians as a result and all that shit. An anime and live action adaptation of the manga aired in 2006 and mid 2007 respectively. And whilst I'd watched a little of the anime and liked it, it was the live action series that had me addicted.T

Crappy 'Super Mario Galaxy' US TV spot
2007-11-05 11:58:00
Not long after I rant on about the lack of Super Mario Galaxy promotion and whack TV adverts, Nintendo release this. Not feeling it. Nintendo need to create adverts that capture the esscence of the game. This advert doesn't convey how amazing this game is - nowhere near as much as the Japanese TV spots did. By constantly showing people playing the game and not even having the audio play from the game itself creates this sense of detachment. You're not connecting with the game and we aren't even shown enough of it to be wowed by it in anyway. Nintendo did the exact same thing with their Metroid Prime 3: Corruption TV spot. The whole 'Wii would like to play' TV spots would make good adverts if they were aired consistently over a period of time and showed people playing a wide range of games - as this would be good promotion for the system itself. But they don't work when promoting one game. Especially not ones like Metroid and Mario.Bottom line? The ad sucks. As good as we all know S

Not like it used to be
2007-11-05 10:24:00
I'm going to end up with a bunch of games and not enough time to play any of them. I've had Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Phantom hourglass for a week now and I've barely played them. With Super Mario Galaxy releasing in two weeks and Medal of Honour: Heroes 2 releasing in four, I'm probably going to end up with four games I need to get through. At least it'll give me a nice selection of games to play over Christmas. Though I may be spoilt for choice, as I'll also be buying Zack & Wiki.I could actually just not buy any new games until I'm done with Metroid and Zelda. But us gamers find it difficult to wait don't we? At least I do. I just have to have the games I want the day they release. I was usually able to get one game completed before the next one I wanted came along - mainly because the games I wanted would never release so close together. But now the games I want are dropping within a couple of weeks of one another and I currently have no time what-so-ever to actua

Why won't Nintendo promote their own shit?
2007-11-04 15:32:00
For reasons unknown to many of us, Nintendo choose not to promote their games heavily. In fact, they often choose not to promote them at all. My take on it is that Nintendo think that they can put out a game with little to no promotion and it will sell millions regardless, because they know the leigon of Nintendo fans that exist in the world will buy it. You and I know this is the case and for the past 2 decades it has worked in Nintendo's favour. But this needs to change.Nintendo need to expand their reach outside that of the Nintendo fanbase and they can't do that unless they promote their games properly. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption's promotion was an absolute joke. A preview channel that came too late, no playable demos before release and a whack advert that was targeting the wrong crowd. Super Mario galaxy was a chance for Nintendo to do right and whore the game out like Bungie did to Halo. I'm talking Mario Mini coopers, Mario Coca Cola, Mario Skittles, Air force one galaxies

Game I want: Zack & Wiki - Quest for Barbabos' treasure
2007-11-04 14:29:00
I love it when developers get original and deliver an all new IP that kicks a bit of ass. Zack and Wiki : The quest for Barbaros' treasure is Capcom's latest Wii offerring and it looks great. A game I'll be sure to snap up on the day of it's European release. Hot graphics, a pirate, a flying monkey, a bunny rabbit with a motorcycle helmet, a hunt for treasure, cool Wii remote controls - what's not to love?! This game has already been receiving rave reviews all-round. Though the game has fallen under many radars because it hasn't been heavily promoted and isn't developed by Bungie or EA. Hopefully it won't fall under the curse that ails many of Capcoms more original titles. It'd be a shame for a game that looks so good and has been well receivied to get a shit load of sequels that get progressively worse or to have it's greatness diluted with ports. We all know Capcom love to port their games despite shouting from the roofops how their games are exclusive to a particular pla

Midnight eye candy: Kelis - Milkshake
2007-11-02 18:59:00
I'm not sure what happened to Kelis , but she turned sexy all of a sudden. She went from a crazy bitch with an orange afro screaming about how she hates some guy and wants him dead to jiggling the jigglies and boasting how her milkshake brings boys to her yard. "Milkshake" was definitely the turning point and the video where Kelis took the sexiness up a few notches and then some. If you didn't want a piece of Kelis beforehand, then I'm betting you definitely did after she dropped this doozy of a video.Kelis - MilkshakeDirected by Jake Nava© 2003 Arista records, StarTrak entertainmentKelis doesn't mess around. She doesn't even try to be subtle. She just gives fellas what they want. Slowly eat a cherry - check! Suck on a straw real hard - check! Jiggle the titties for the camera - check! Bend over to reveal the arse crack and then pop, lock and work the waist whilst baring a nicely toned midriff - check, check, check! She sure as hell had me running to the yard. I'm still there now

Final Fantasy Wii Ware
2007-11-11 14:29:00
Despite no new news concerning Final Fantasy Crystal chronicles: The crystal bearers, Square Enix already has yet another Crystal chronicles game lined up for Wii ! It is titled The little king and the promised country and will be a Wii ware title. This isn't new news, but I don't give a damn - I'm posting on it regardless. Check it out. I thought WiiWare titles would be shitty little 2D flash style games, so I was shocked when Square Enix showed this off and announced it'd be a WiiWare title. There's no word how big the game will be, but graphically it looks snazzy and is in complete 3D - so you can bet it'll eat up every single Megabyte of the Wii's pathetic 512 flash memory. You'll probably have to delete every Virtual console game, every channel and connect your Wii to your PC via a USB cable and sellotape it to the Wii to make enough space. The game will cost 1500 Wii points and will be released in Japan in March of 2008, which means Europe won't see it until Christmas o

Britney Spears: The best live singer that ever was
2007-11-11 12:38:00
You know I'm lying and being a sarcastic bastard with the post title. Britney couldn't sing live if her children's lives depended on it. (That'd be if she actually cared about her children's lives). The woman can just about mime. "Blackout" had producers pro-tooling, layering and auto tuning her vocals to death! The producers probably got sick of her singing off key on every take - which would explain why they just added GameBoy style blips, basslines, crazy beats and drafted in backing vocalists to sing over her and then had the mixers and sound engineers f**k with her voice so much that she sounds like Stephen Hawkins. I'm still convinced the song "Radar" is a duet between Stephen Hawkins and Microsoft Sam from the Microsoft Narrator, because I can't hear Britney at all.I came across an mp3 file of Britney "singing" live at her gig in Las Vegas and she sounds bad! I mean REALLY bad. I go to and fro between cringing and laughing when I listen to it. It's not even like her song

Michael Jackson keeps it fresh
2007-11-11 11:43:00
No matter how many times I see this picture it makes me laugh. For the lack of a better term, he looks f**ked up. He looks like an inhabitant of the planet of Apes and his nose looks like a segment of a Toblerone (the white chocolate version of course), but he sure keeps that hair looking fresh . Even Beyoncé can't touch Michael when it comes to the weaves. Her along with every other black singer (near enough all of whom have a weave) needs to take notes. Whoever hooks him up with that weave should win an Oscar for best special effects. Industrial light and magic ain't got shit on whoever does Michael's weaves, because they keep it looking tight, day and night. Whether he's killing his own career in an interview with Martin Bashir, hanging his baby out of a window or his face is falling apart in court - the weave always looks top notch.
