Inspirational Day
2006-11-06 06:24:32
If I said today was busy, that would be an understatement. I volunteered to canvass South City St. Louis this afternoon for the Claire McCaskill campaign. I went along with H. and D. for my first canvassing experience. Thankfully, the weather was not too cold, but it was windy enough for a jacket despite having on a t-shirt and long-sleeved t-shirt. I’m not sure of the total amount of homes that we visited… doors knocked and people we spoke to, but it was a very interesting experience. I believe that you do not truly know how much work goes in the campaign and election process until you volunteer and participate. That afteroon H. and I had lunch at the Hampton Imos. She feels that the Forest Park location has the best wings and Imos pizza; I say that Hampton has the best. I ordered a lunch special; 8″ hamburger pizza, house salad and strawberry soda. The strawberry soda was UNF. After talking for a while we decided it was time to head over to Forest Park at

Election Day 2006
2006-11-09 06:42:24
Last night I was glued to NBC news on the television and CNN.com on the desktop. I was exhausted and upset with the counts. I went to bed pretty disappointed because Talent was ahead in the polls over McCaskill and Proposition 2 was behind with NOs in the lead. On the bright side of things, the legislation for raising minimum wage was in the lead and favored to pass. After I woke up this morning, JT encoraged me to check out the election results. After what I saw on the news last night, I was hesistant to look at any final results. I went to Opera, opened CNN.com, scrolled to the U.S. Senate and Missouri election results and I was ecstatic. With results pouring in from St. Louis City, County and other areas, McCaskill took the lead over Talent and was declared the winner. Also, Propostion 2 was passed… which is something that I wanted, but also a surprise after I saw the figures before bedtime. I pray that stem cell research will lead to finding a cure for my son and all ot

A Little Easier This Time
2006-11-11 05:44:23
Yesterday I took William to the doctor for his fourth scheduled transfusion. I was happy to hear from JT that on Wednesday, William cried very little from the IV. Fortunately the same occurred today… when his nurse M. entered the room, William did cry a bit, but relaxed a great deal after I gave him a Dum Dum sucker. Bribery with candy is essential. M. only had to poke William once with the needle and she easily put the IV in his left arm. This was a complete 180 from last month and mom was happy. William had a brief nap while the saline was hooked up to his IV. This drastically reduced the crankiness later in the afternoon. This time T. removed the blood; she took out 80 mL like M. did last month. Unlike last month, this time William was very friendly and willing to let T. do her job and help him. Transfusion day is already a long day, but what made the day even longer was that I William and I took the bus to my job to pick up some information and then we stopped at the He

People that Should…
2006-11-20 05:49:12
We had a late start with getting the twins over to Nana’s house today. First, I didn’t think that was going to even happen, then after plans reversed back to normal… after getting ready, we had a bit of a delay when JT locked the keys in our newly purchased used mini-van. No fret… thankfully, we have AAA. After JT mentioned calling a locksmith, I swiftly said… “Call AAA, they’ll be here in about 30 minutes.” And indeed, they did come in 30 minutes. That is customer service folks. Side note: I really need those tools that they use to open up cars. Never know when you will get locked out *smirk* This afternoon, we had lunch at McDowells (what I call McDonalds), made extra keys for the van at Ace Hardware and saw the movie, The Departed at AMC West Olive 16. The Departed was an excellent movie and I enjoyed all two and one half hours of it. Everyone needs a good laugh from time to time. George Carlin is hilarious, check it out.

Thanksgiving 2006
2006-11-24 06:07:14
What am I thankful for… Everyday when I wake up, I am thankful that God lets me breathe another day. I am thankful for my life. I am thankful for my health… I am working on my health, going to join a gym very soon. Next week matter of fact. Still working on the depression. Still working on other things. Although, I am not healthy like I want to be… I can breathe, walk, talk, work, think and carry my children… so that I am thankful for. I am thankful for my children. William and Keisha. Everyday I look at my beautiful angels I thank God that you brought them into my life. I never dreamed of having twins, but here they are, my pride and joy. They have the capability to drive me nuts one minute and hug them with love the next. They are two years old now… how did that happen? When I last remembered, I was coming home from the hospital with newborns in infant carseats. Where did the time go? Keisha and William I am thankful that you are mine. I am

What Tarot Card am I?
2006-11-24 16:17:43
You are The Hierophant Divine Wisdom. Manifestation. Explanation. Teaching. All things relating to education, patience, help from superiors. The Hierophant is often considered to be a Guardian Angel. The Hierophant’s purpose is to bring the spiritual down to Earth. Where the High Priestess between her two pillars deals with realms beyond this Earth, the Hierophant (or High Priest) deals with worldly problems. He is well suited to do this because he strives to create harmony and peace in the midst of a crisis. The Hierophant’s only problem is that he can be stubborn and hidebound. At his best, he is wise and soothing, at his worst, he is an unbending traditionalist. What Tarot Card are You?Take the Test to Find Out. When I woke up this morning, I thought today was Monday. Man, I really didn’t want to go to work. JT went to work early. Thankfully mom spent the night to watch the twins today since daycare is closed. After JT went to work, I knew I should have staye

Time is a Lot of Things
2006-11-26 06:05:48
Time is a lot of the things people say that God is. There’s the always preexisting, and having no end. There’s the notion of being all powerful — because nothing can stand against time, can it? Not mountains, not armies. And time is, of course, all-healing. Give anything enough time, and everything is taken care of: all pain encompassed, all hardship erased, all loss subsumed. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Remember, man, that thou art dust; and unto dust thou shalt return. And if Time is anything akin to God, I suppose that Memory must be the Devil.. This quote is the prologue from A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon. JT checked the book out from the library. I read a few pages of it and didn’t care for the book, but I absolutely love this prologue. Time is God and Memory is the Devil. Interesting.

Monday Madness
2006-11-28 06:16:51
1. Which of the holidays that you celebrate, do you feel is the most important? I feel that Thanksgiving is the most important holiday that I celebrate.  This holiday is about giving thanks to everything that I am blessed with and an excellent opportunity to spend the day with my lovely family. 2. Which holiday do you most enjoy? Of course as a child and through my teenage years, I most enjoyed Christmas… because of the gifts.  Hey, I am being honest.  I am materialistic.  Now that I am *ahem* an adult… I would have to say that I most enjoy Christmas because of the twins and celebrating their birthday. 3. Is there one holiday that your family tries to get together every year? If so, which one? More than one. Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. 4. Share one special memory from a past holiday. Every Christmas, when I was younger, my grandfather used to go to the country and cut down a tree for our family.  I remember looking forward to that special moment each year. 5. N

Song of the Moment
2006-11-29 20:23:35
I dig this song a lot.  Very relaxing and romantic. Kem- I Can’t Stop Loving You [Verse 1:] I think about the day I met the perfect stranger, I think about us. And I think about the day I got wrapped around your fingers, I think about us. The sun was shinning on you The lord was smiling on me And love was calling us I had my mind made up. [Chorus:] And I can’t stop loving you I can’t help myself And I can’t get over you No matter what I tell myself baby. [Verse 2:] Never thought I’d ever love any one else in my weakness, I think about us. And I think about the day you left without speaking, I think about us. I think about the love we had for our children, I think about us. I think about the way we laughed without a reason, I think about us girl. There will be no more lies Somebody tell me why I feel like I’m dying. Lord what’s come over me Ohh baby can’t you see [Chorus:] That I can’t stop loving you I can’t help myself And I

Sweet Baby James
2006-12-01 05:23:19
The Thursday Threesome Onesome: Sweet – or sour? What type of sauces do you like on your dishes when you ‘do Chinese’? Sometimes I put a little soy sauce on my rice.  Other than that I enjoy only the sauce that comes with the dish, like garlic sauce or whatever sauce that is for the seseme chicken. Twosome: Baby– back ribs? …or steak? Tofu? Chicken? It’s your choice; what would you like for your next meal “out”? Now that I have been talking about Chinese… I think I want that for my next meal out.  Second choice is pizza. Threesome: James – town flood? What do flood your mashed potatoes with, gravy or butter? …or do you like them plain? I cook the potatoes with butter but after preparation, I eat them plain. How about you? http://www.othersideofglenroad.org/backporch/index.php?title=the_thursday_threesome_11_30_06&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
