Monday Madness
2006-12-05 06:15:40
I have been extremely tired for a few days now.  Thursday we had a major ice storm in the area.  Fortunately our home did not lose power as the temperature dropped into the teens and 20s.  Unfortunately, my mom, JT’s mom and Aunt Dot lost power through Saturday afternoon.  Dot’s power is still off.  To this date there are still over 200,000 people in Missouri and Illinois that remain without power.  Terrible man.  I am praying for all of the people without power. Monday Madness 1. I wish people would just leave me alone when I have just waken up in the morning or from a nap.  I can be really grouchy at these times. 2. My biggest pet peeve where other drivers are concerned, is when truck drivers don’t properly secure their items in the back, e.g. bags of sand, rocks, wood, etc.  That is a safety hazard folks. 3. I will probably spend less than $200 (at least that is my goal) on holidays this season. 4. I really hope to join the gym in myÂ

Tuesday Twosome
2006-12-06 05:30:39
Well Aunt Dot called me this evening and said that Ameren Electric finally made it over her house and was able to hook up their electric.  The Ameren guy recommended to have an electrian come out to the house to replace her meter box.  We both thought that American was responsible for that, but I guess not.  Regardless, I am happy that my aunt has a heated home now.  My prayers are still with many of my coworkers as there are many in Missouri and Illinois that remain without power for six days now. Tuesday Twosome 1. In your opinion, does the news media focus more attention on good or bad news? Yes, the news does focus more attention on bad news.  This is why I limit the amount of news that I watch.  All of the bad news is depressing. 2. What two things would you change about how the news is reported? I would have more good news reports; for example, visiting local schools and speaking with students and their achievements and local events.  Second, I would have a better variety

Wednesday Mind Hump
2006-12-07 05:31:12
William’s hemoglobin count was 9.4 today which was better than his count of 8.9 four weeks ago.  His hemoglobin count was likely lower last month because he was fighting a cold.  The whole family went over to the hospital today.  I stayed with Keisha in the playroom while JT went with the nurse to have William’s blood drawn for the tests.  JT said that William took it like a champ… he barely cried while the blood was drawn.  This is a major turnaround from two months ago when William kicked and bit me while M. put the IV in his arm.  I am very proud of William and thankful that his treatments are going well.  Tomorrow is his scheduled transfusion. I have been very tired, even more so than normal, for the last week or so.  Yeah… yeah I am not taking my multi-vitamins.  Let me add that to my 2007 New Year Resolutions.  Take multi-vitamins daily.  Sounds easy, but it is not for me. Wednesday Mind Hump 1. How old is your microwave? Eight years old.  I b

What I am Listening To

Friday Five 01. What types of portable audio devices do you use? I have a 30GB iPod Video that I named ArdiPod. I also have many walkmans (tape players), cd players and two mini disc players that I have retired. Only the ArdiPod gets action now. 02. What format of music do you listen to most often? I listen to 128 and 192 ripped .mp3s on my ArdiPod and my PCs the most. 03. How do you get your electronic music files? (pay service [i.e Napster, iTunes, eMusic, etc.], file sharing, artist/label web sites, etc.) I do not purchase electronic music files these days. I used Napster in the good old days. I tried the paid version of Napster and I did not care for it. About 2 years ago I purchased a couple of albums electronically on Walmart.com. I only used that because a friend of a friend w

Fevers Two Nights in a Row
2008-01-22 22:58:17
We spent most of the weekend trying to help William and Keisha fight their colds. It appears that the cold has passed over me this round. Thank God because I usually get a cold from them each time they get it from daycare. Friday evening, the runny noses started... and I was happy that I had just purchased four boxes of Kleenax the previous Sunday. I bought the new tissue with the anti-virus beads in it. How in the hell companies come up with this stuff, I have no clue... but I bought it. I had two coupons, plus it was on sale at Target. I could not resist. I went back and forth helping William and Keisha blow their noses to get all the gooey snot out. They took turns with their Ewws and Owwws. I kept the Vaseline handy (code name Grease in our household) handy to apply below thei

Loving Your Enemies
2008-01-21 22:53:31
This is an excerpt from a speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called Loving Your Enemies , presented on November 17, 1957. ...So I want to turn your attention to this subject: "Loving Your Enemies." It’s so basic to me because it is a part of my basic philosophical and theological orientation—the whole idea of love, the whole philosophy of love. In the fifth chapter of the gospel as recorded by Saint Matthew, we read these very arresting words flowing from the lips of our Lord and Master: "Ye have heard that it has been said, ‘Thou shall love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.’ But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven.

1. If you could do one thing in the world, what would you do? I would become the United States Secretary of State. 2. If you could be any character from a book, movie, or television show, who would you be? Why? I thought about this for a while and I kept coming up with nothing... but just now, Claire Huxtable from The Cosby Show came to mind. When I was growing up, I really admired her character and her husband, Dr. Cliff Huxtable of course. They raised a family of five children and had successful careers. I always wanted to be like Claire... and I still do, but minus all those kids. I may go crazy if I had five children. I think two is enough, but God willing I would love to have one more. And let us not forget, I do still want a law degree. 3. If you could change one thing in the

Sorry, Google I will not be shedding any tears and having anxiety attacks over this like some other webmasters and bloggers have. I will not be begging and pleading for forgiveness. I will not be removing paid posts and adding no follow links within my posts because that is what you like. Go ahead and do what you do, because you are the King of Teh Internetz, no? I have seen a few sites explain in great detail about how they changed all their posts, stripped the paid links and/or added no follows. Not me. I do not care. I will spend my free time doing other things. I will continue to do what I do. Life does not revolve around pagerank folks.

Just Fifteen More Minutes
2008-01-16 22:52:31
My morning did not start off so well and I let that mess up most of my day. The Bose alarm clock is set for 4:45 a.m., but I rarely hear it go off. JT is in charge of the alarm, unless I set it for myself. JT will usually turn the radio off shortly after the alarm (music) comes on. I hate the buzzer alarm because it scares me to death, so we wake up to the music instead. On a morning when we do not oversleep, JT will wake up about 20 minutes later. He then tells me it is time to get up. Over the last year or so, I thought we had come to an understanding that unless it is absolutely necessary, I am not going to get up immediately after he tells me. I guess I was wrong with my assumption. I really hate getting up in a rush. When that happens, I usually get a headache from jumping ou

Well Umm Okay
2008-03-28 21:34:24
I really did not mean to be gone for so long, but things happen like that. A couple of good friends have positively pressured me into posting. Peer pressure is dangerous folks. My overall health is okay, but my sanity is always questionable. The twins are getting over a cold and *drumroll*... pink eye. JT took them to the hospital yesterday and we now have eyedrops for them. William and Keisha are doing a lot better today than yesterday. They just fell asleep to Backyardigans playing in their room. Which reminds me that I need to turn their television off because I can hear it playing now. Pablo is yelling something... or is that Tyrone? I am tired a lot these days, but according to Kat Williams, when you are a parent you are always tired.

He suggested to allow 6 weeks then come in so he can check out her ears. Hopefully, during the 6 weeks... if it was fluid in there then it would have time to go away. Just over six weeks had passed and then William and Keisha caught the flu. William struggled with the flu at lot worse than Keisha did, but they both were out of school for most of that week until the following Monday (last week in February to the first week in March if I remember correctly). That delayed JT and I getting Keisha to the doctor. Then last month, William and Keisha had pink eye. See the previous post. Yes, we have had a few obsta

Are You Ready to Help Rebuild the Gulf Coast?

Dear Missnexus.com readers, Three years after Hurricane Katrina, there’s finally a bill in Congress that will give Katrina survivors a fair chance to rebuild their lives. But it won’t become law if enough representatives don’t stand up to support it. The Gulf Coast Civic Works Act would hire 100,000 Gulf Coast residents and evacuees, providing them with [...]
