Khan will surrender on Saturday before a Jodhpur
court after a non-bailable warrant was issued against him following the dismissal of his appeal against a five-year jail term given to him for poaching the endangered chinkara.
“He will be flying to Jodhpur and surrender before a court there,” his lawyer Dipesh Mehta told PTI in Mumbai. Salman left for Jodhpur on a flight from Mumbai at 11.30 am.
Speaking to reporters before getting into his SUV outside his residence, Salman said, “A warrant has been apparently issued and as per advice from my lawyers, I am going to Jodhpur to surrender.”
“Nobody has told me to get there but I am going there as a responsible citizen who abides by the law,” he added. A sessions court in Jodhpur yesterday upheld a lower court’s judgement of April 2006 sentencing Salman to prison in the 1998 poaching case.

Bollywood actor Dutt freed on bail in India 2007-08-23 20:01:33 MUMBAI - Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, jailed for six years for receiving guns from gangsters involved in the country’s worst bombings, was released from prison on bail in western India
early on Thursday.
Dutt, sporting a beard and a shaved head, walked free following 24 days in jail and after being granted bail by the Supreme Court on Monday while his lawyers challenge the conviction.
“I just want to thank all my fans who supported me, and all those who stood for three days outside the jail and I couldn’t meet,” Dutt told reporters at his residence.
“I have a long battle to fight. Please pray for me and thank you.”
The macho actor began serving his six-year sentence on July 31 — less the 16 months he served while awaiting trial over the bomb attacks that killed 257 people in India’s commercial capital of Mumbai in 1993.
Dutt, 48, stepped out of the jail in Pune city and shook the hands of police officers before leaving for home.

is filming a yoga DVD and plans to market it overseas later this year, her publicist said Thursday.
The two-hour yoga DVD is currently being filmed by Shetty’s production house in southern India’s Kerala state, said Dale Bhagwagar, Shetty’s spokesman.
“Shilpa practices yoga every day and she believes it should be a way of life for everyone,” said Bhagwagar. “Yoga has become a fashion statement in the West, but Shilpa wants to educate people about the original form of yoga, the ashtanga yoga, with the right techniques and breathing exercises.”
The well-known Indian actress underwent intensive training this month in preparation to ensure she perfected the “asanas” or postures for the DVD, which will initially be sold in Britain and Dubai.

Sen has decided to write an autobiography
with the tentative title “The Butterfly.”
A former Miss Universe, Sen said she has already begun writing chapters, a newspaper reported Wednesday.
She said the inspiration for the title came from one of her favourite sayings — “what the world calls the end of a caterpillar’s life, God calls a butterfly.”
“I have written some portions of it,” The Times of India newspaper quoted Sen saying. “And yes, the working title is called ‘The Butterfly.’”
A model-turned-actress, Sen was crowned Miss Universe in 1994 and has since acted in 30 Hindi-language movies.
Sen plays a widow in an updated version of a Bollywood classic “Sholay,” or “Embers,” to be released this week.
She played a rock star in her last film, “Zindagi Rocks,” or “Life Rocks,” and a prostitute in an earlier movie “Chingari,” which also translates to “Embers” in Hindi.

Rai and Madhuri Dixit, Lara Dutta and Soha Ali Khan have been chosen to play Paro and Chandramukhi in Sudhir Mishra’s modern version of Devdas titled Aur Devdas.
While Soha is yet to sign on the dotted line, Lara has done the needful.
They will portray the two classic parts in Sudhir Mishra’s version of Devdas being produced by Pritish Nandy Communications. The film will be shot in September.
Mishra’s Chandramukhi will not be a dancer. She’ll be an investment banker. Paro evolves into a politician. The film will be a gritty political drama.
