Domain Complaint
2007-08-22 04:47:53
I used to appear in the blogosphere with the display name ‘Yee Piao’ and I was known commonly as YP because my previous blog title was ‘Simple Life of YP’. Till the day when I decided to get myself a self-hosted blog, I went to hunt for domain names. At that time, I was really sure that yeepiao.com will not be taken as in real life, I’ve never came across people who has the same English name as me. You can try searching for ‘yee piao’ online, I can guarantee that the first 10 pages of “Yee Piao” is related to me, Yee Piao. I went to type in www.yeepiao.com and something unexpected happened, yeepiao.com was owned by a company in China which I think is offering contents downloads. At that time, I don’t have the anger with me since I am the one who is late in this domain registration market. I ponders for a new URL that will suit me. I know there is a trend of using the webmaster’s own name as the URL since will show a personal blo

Why you are here? Yee Piao which is also known as YP in Simple Life of YP last time has had his own space moved over here and will be known as Wayne Liew or Wayne from now on. This blog will be more of a connection of Wayne Liew with the Internet, especially the blogosphere. This new home of mine will still undergo many acid tests, go through tonnes of plug-ins implementations and last but not least, getting my blog to the previous standard where Simple Life of YP had achieved and the best would be to make this brand new blog of mine grander and more successful than Simple Life of YP. If you are reading this or being invited to read this and you had gave me some link love to Simple Life of YP, try to change the link and start to point it here. I am sure the link of this blog will be worth to be placed on your sidebar, your posts and everywhere in your blog. You are here, invited, because I think you are the ones who had helped or inspired me throughout my blogging life and make yoursel

I Miss Old Home
2007-08-26 04:35:24
It’s been one week and I am going through a hard time, I am all stressed up doing all the stuffs over again, just because to get more respect from advertisers and a more professional look. I am paying USD6.95 per month to do all the hard work again! For an instance, I thought of moving my blog back to the old Blogger-hosted Simple Life of YP but it will sound stupid, really stupid… My old blog have an astounding PR5 (which is the same as Kennysia.com), which gains me a lot of opportunities to write ads which many bloggers don’t. I’ve made this my benchmark, WayneLiew.com must reach PR5 in the next Google PR update and the best is to become better! This is my objective but this is what that made me have the pressure and this pressure if combined with the pressure of studies, it will be immense enough to crush me into mashed meat. It’s hard to forget the times that I blog on Blogger. It is at there I get the most precious blogging friends, gained the most

Download YouTube Videos
2007-08-25 05:02:55
I am sure many of us enjoyed online self-made videos at YouTube . Having watching so many videos there, have you ever thought of downloading the video and view it everytime, even when you are offline? Today, I am going to recommend a site which allows you to do just that, and to add a value to that way, you will not need to download any extra players or converters to view those downloaded videos! Calvyn from iCalvyn.com once showed his readers how to download YouTube videos in .flv format (flash video format, which refers to the format of web-based videos like in YouTube), using three third-party websites, KeepVid, Video Download er and Kiss You Tube. Later on, you will need to play those downloaded videos with a special FLV player, just for those videos. Why this is not really good? Well, when we need to share the video with our friends, they will have the fuss to install the software before they can enjoy the video clip. This third party site that I wanted to recommend is vixy.net. I

MOL Freedom - Alternative to Ambank NexG
2007-08-24 05:38:10
For Malaysians wanting to get your PayPal approve but not wanting to get yourself into debts by signing up some credit cards, EON Bank Group has launched MOL Freedom , another prepaid credit card which can be called as a successor of the Ambank NexG card which I am using now to verify my PayPal account. The card is issued with several parties’ corroboration. MasterCard, 7 Eleven, RHB Bank, Maybank2U, MyMode and MOL are some of those companies behind this small little wonder. It basically functions like the Ambank NexG card in the market now but personally, I think this card is better than the NexG card. Why? It helps you save more having no monthly fees to pay, not like the Ambank NexG card service. MOL Freedom charge you every time you top-up the card, which is RM2 every time at their selected top-up partners and RM4 every time at 7 Eleven. The starter pack will be as the same as Ambank NexG, which is RM25. You can get more info about the card here. The best part is that young

Monkey Chopsticks
2007-08-23 05:23:17
Today, my lecturer shared this little life snippets with the whole class If you are a Chinese or you enjoyed Chinese food very much, you are sure to have direct contact with chopsticks every now and then. Do you use disposable wooden chopsticks? If you do, how much do you know about their origin? Today, I am going to share all of it with you. Chopsticks are made of bamboo trees from South East Asia. It will then be processed in central Vietnam. The chopsticks will then followed by washing and bleaching with sulfur and hydrogen peroxide, but this is not to disinfect the chopsticks! Their usage remains unknown… The chopsticks were dried and ready to be exported. It will take one month for the chopsticks to reach its selling destination. Meanwhile, the chopsticks will become the bed and toilets for our beloved rats and cockcroaches… *If you wanted to vomit now, please do so before it’s too late…* I forgot to tell you all, all of the above processes did not

Happy 50th Merdeka
2007-08-30 05:20:14
Tomorrow, 31st of August 2007, will be the 50th Independence Day of my beloved country, Malaysia. As a new proud user of Wordpress and the willingness of me to share my gratitude towards my country, I am willing to fly the banner above, which I get it from Enveluv.com in my blog proudly. I will not be participating in any celebration activities so I will not have any fireworks photos to be showcased in Wayne Liew Dot Com but my patriotism will be in heart and brain tomorrow. I don’t have patriotism in me all the time, especially when the country’s “planners” have ridiculous plans and unthoughtful comments, but for tomorrow, I will be at least put my country first in my thoughts. The country is facing a tough challenge ahead, before reaching it’s Vision 2020 of becoming a developed country. This is common and predictable as keeping the prosperity of a multi-ethnic society is tough for the past 50 years and with a large portion of its citizen now educated a

Akismet Don’t Swallow Blindly
2007-08-29 05:35:21
Akismet is a plug-in or software widely used by blogs, especially Wordpress-based blogs to prevent comment spam and trackback spam. This little tool is the most downloaded tool and the most highly-rated tool by Wordpress users. Many bloggers trusted this tool so much that whenever comments or trackbacks is being eaten by Akismet, bloggers usually don’t bother to moderate the comments again. Also, a blog’s Akismet moderation place sometimes is really filled with spams, lots of them! With so many Wordpress blogs and blogs out there using Akismet, getting banned by a blog means you are getting banned from commenting from the blogosphere! How do you know you got blacklisted by Akismet? If you are already blacklisted, whenever you post a comment to an Akismet-enabled blog, your comment will not appear, not even the message “Your comment is awaiting moderation”. This is when you should start to roll up your sleeves to see who is the “bad boy” behind your

Tera-Disc On The Way
2007-08-28 05:49:01
Tech UK reported that a disc which can holds 1 Terabyte of data will subsequently emerge after the high-end Blu-Ray and HD-DVD disc defied the limits of optical storage in the technology world. If this disc really is being manufactured, it will hold 20 times the storage of the a maxed-out Blu-Ray disc. Does this fact stunned you? I guess most of my readers are mostly using CDs, or at most, DVDs, anyone of you already started using Blu-Ray? I don’t even hold a Blu-Ray disc drive in my hands before! Do you know how big is the capacity of 1TB? A 3 minutes song with fine quality typically uses about 5 Megabytes (MB) of space. 1,024 MB will equals to 1 Gigabyte (GB). Most hard disk in our computers nowadays stand at more or less 120GB if you just upgraded your computer (mine is at 80GB). 1 Terabyte is equal to 1,024GB! This will mean you will have to buy 8 more current computer hard disk to reach 1TB. Not stunning enough for you? OK, let me show you what a 1TB disc can hold based on &

Biggest Link Contest Scam In Blogosphere!
2007-08-27 06:43:26
I was bloghopping around the blogosphere just now and found this post, Scam=Scum at joey maggie. He was posting about someone called Ashwin Kanna, which owns two blogs, 30 Gigabytes Dot Com and Ashwin Kanna Dot Com (I am not generous by giving links to a scum) had made a false claim about his “USD2,500 Blogging Extravaganza” by saying that his own blog actually won his own competition after making so many bloggers link to his blog! Why I am so upset about this is that he had many similarities with me and he is one of the first few bloggers I met on the Internet since I get into blogging. He let the all the dot com moguls (bloggers that use their own names as a domain, which is me) down. People label this scam as the “Rise and fall of a dot com mogul”! He made himself a total of 400+ free backlinks just by setting up this false competition! I think from the beginning he already gave me a bad impression as he remove my links (set up as an agreement of link excha

National Service Rants
2007-09-03 06:11:49
I am posting this because I am not going to stay silent on this issue. Aunty Chan’s with her post “National Service - Someone answer me, what is the Government doing?” urged me to voice myself out! If you have followed my blog from my old home, Simple Life of YP till here, you should have known that I am not selected for National Service, a programme which is aimed to instil racial harmony and patriotism (I am patriotic!) but the “good programme” itself is creating history of participants around my age died because of not getting proper care over sickness and injuries. All these news had brought worries to parents sending their children there. When they send their children there, they are assured that their children will be well taken care of but what had happened walked against their promises! Imagine that if I got chosen, I got food poisoning in the camp, or I fell and only gets treated by the management comprising of “medical experts” even

Top Blogger Crimes
2007-09-02 03:19:17
The Internet is supposed to be a place that free speech is allowed and has free flow of information as one of its characteristics. However, some countries have induced laws and regulations on information posted onto the web, especially by bloggers for the past few years. Recently, there has been a buzz on this issue in my beloved country. I am here to help bloggers to kept themselves away from the authorities. The following will be the list of top crimes by bloggers which I got from Committee To Protect Blogger s that shall done be contained in each of any posts that you’ve made to the blogosphere. This is not a list released by the authorities of Malaysia but this list contains the things that we as a blogger must be aware of. I know some of us posted things that are contained in this list due to reasons like occasional discomfort or sudden anger on an issue but from now on, I think you are bounded. I don’t like this as well but this is the truth and we must accept it, unl

My Old Host Spreading Virus
2007-09-01 05:06:35
Blogger (my old host) had become a platform for hackers to spread virus is what took my attention this morning reading BBC news. Google’s Blogger is actually being used by malicious hackers to create fake entries on some blogs, including a link that will link you to booby-trap downloads that will infect your computer. The Blogger attack is the latest in a series by a gang that has managed to hijack hundreds of thousands of PCs. After you are being infected, the same old torturing sequence of events will be gone through by both your computer and your mind! Why? An infected computer will then start to be attacked or being mined for valuable data. If you always bloghop in your office, this is a news that you must watch out since your company’s information might get stolen! I am sure that you don’t want to get sacked just because you have a citizenship in the blogosphere! The links that these unscrupulous hackers post on your blog might be a simple YouTube link, a greeti

How To Get FEATURED?
2007-08-31 04:40:28
Wayne Liew Dot Com does not have a stand in Google Page Rank yet, when you check the page rank of this blog, you probably would have get a “Not Available” but it’s just that this blog is new, it’s not because that my site has been banned by Google. One thing to assure you, my search engine optimisation for Wayne Liew Dot Com is doing quite well. Why? See the image below and you’ll know why. I don’t want to be looked down. The blogosphere is so cruel, bloggers look at your Page Rank before deciding to do a link exchange with you or not but of course, those who did link exchange and linked to me are nice people from the blogosphere. I have to thank them, if not because of them, I can’t boast my Page Rank predictions but I can’t feature them all the time on my home page. I have tonnes of space to be extended in my home page so why am I not permanently featuring them in the front page? I am not being selfish, it’s just that I am trying

Priority Besides Blogging
2007-09-27 05:46:39
I don’t know anyone of you faced this. Most of you, guys and girls are here because you blog. No matter how many time you have dedicated to blogging, I am sure there are still some time for your other daily routines and you have other things to pursue for. How high “blogging” is in your daily life activities ranking? You rank it as your top priority or you don’t care about it at all or is it between something and something? When you look at my blog, how high will you think I rank blogging in my life? I am not sure what you all think but I rank two things high up in my priority, my studies and blogging. Do you think this is possible? Trying to write a “quality” post (if you think it is) everyday and surfing the blogs of all my wonderful visitors, blogging is more than just a hobby for me, it’s like part of me! I don’t call it a job and I don’t like people calling me part-time blogger either because I don’t buy food and pay my

PayPal Likes Underage Kids Too
2007-09-26 04:11:18
I was once asked on how do I made so much money out of the Internet since I am not even 18 and don’t qualify for a credit card to verify my PayPal account. The world is fair, if you spend some time and effort, thinking that you will do it no matter what, no one and nothing will stop you from doing it. Even if you are below 18, you can start making money from the Internet like me (I am 17). Why PayPal account? If you want to make easy money just by typing or blogging, PayPal is just nice for you to accept the funds as most of the services out there like PayPerPost, Smorty and even Cost-Per-Click network, Bidvertiser can pay you via PayPal. This shows that how important it is a PayPal account for you if you want to make money off the Internet. They are still dominating although many other new services are trying to compete with them. For teenagers or kids below 18, I would like to share four ways with you to get a verified PayPal account. For those experienced guys, I know you mus

Wayne Liew Dot Com On Wordpress 2.3
2007-09-25 04:37:58
I just upgraded my Wordpress platform to the brand new 2.3 version. My work was quite easily done in less than 10 minutes time with the help of the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade Plugin which I recommended in “Wordpress 2.2.3 Upgrade”. It helps from the start until the end without any flaws but pelf from pelf-ism is contagious claimed that the plugin does not work for her blog so I guess there is still some problems with it but it works well with me! I broke my promise for not being the first few testers as I have to study but at least I have done it now! Sorry… I scrolled around after the upgrade and found nothing special with it other than the new tagging system which helps yo define your posts in a more informal way than the previous “Categories” available. I won’t use it because if I wanted to, I will need to modify my theme to get a place for those tags. I am not that good with this and I don’t want to risk spoiling my theme. It also offe

Paid Posts - My Main Income Source
2007-09-24 04:21:52
I always tell people making money online is easy but how easy is that? Let me tell you my own experience which makes what am I today. I started blogging with nothing but a free host, the famous Blogger (I still love it). I kept on blogging on it, tried different search engine optimization methods and many monetisation ways. One thing that I couldn’t forget is how I got to know paid posts or more widely known as sponsored posts. I am a lucky boy, I don’t know how I became friends with Google and my blog got a PR5 last time. With a PR5 blog, you know what I can do? I can make myself money enough to host a blog myself. Is this a small number? Definitely not. I am now making MYR2000+ per month (only MYR500 lower than an accountant’s starting pay), which is equivalent to USD583 per month and for a college kid with nothing to do but blogging, this is a lot! There are many Malaysians out there earning up to MYR10,000+ from paid posts like Aunty Lilian and gang, which I admir

Anxious Over 2.3 Upgrade
2007-09-23 02:01:33
The Wordpress blog released an article, “Preparing For 2.3″, which listed out all the stuffs that you can do prior to the 2.3 release tomorrow. I am very anxious for this as this will be the first time I am doing this but I think I am prepared for both these and my Progress Test, which will be on Monday to Thursday, starting from tomorrow as well. I will for sure try my best to upgrade Wayne Liew Dot Com tomorrow as early as possible. I am focusing on plugins issue in this post as it will matters the most in every upgrades due to compatibility issues. Theme modification is expected to be done by me as well if I’ve decided to use the new tagging function offered in the 2.3 version. Please pray for me tomorrow if you see “Wayne Liew Dot Com is upgrading” when you are trying to visit me. Plugins Issue I don’t know whether you have noticed about a few changes, additions and removals done on my blog which is the effect of changes in my Wordpress plugins.

Fired For Online “Business” In Office
2007-09-22 03:54:51
I guess many of you are bloggers or I can call all of you Internet users. I think most of my blog readers are working in different fields and some of them are blogging, actually many of them are. Well, do you spend your time in your office working hard in your “other” career which is the work you do online such as blogging, eBaying, dropshipping, or earning through pay-per-click programmes? Beware of this as I came across this new today, “Job losses over eBay ‘addiction’”. Doing personal stuffs in the office as far as I am concerned is a common thing but the “personal stuffs” that employees do had evolved from making personal phone calls to the latest “business activities” I mentioned above. I am not employed and of course I don’t know how strict Malaysian employers treat such activities in the office so I need some comments from all those who are working out there. Why I am concerned about this after the jump. (more&h

MyBlogLog Now Under Yahoo
2007-09-21 05:49:39
MyBlogLog has just been merged its account services with Yahoo and you will need to either have to create a Yahoo account or merge your existing Yahoo account with MyBlogLog. I knew about this merging right after class when I log on to the blogosphere and guess what, I DON’T LIKE IT AT ALL! I always don’t like the “merging” of services on the Internet. When Google did the same thing with Blogger last time, I faced some problems merging my accounts because of the different username I used on both of these services. This time I am more diligent on the Internet and the merging of my Yahoo and MyBlogLog is not a headache but something nearly made me hit my keyboard. After you have successfully merged your account, you will notice that your display avatar will be gone and your name might have been changed to the name you used on Yahoo. What you can do to replace you avatar is that you save the avatar which you see in your profile, then proceed to “Edit Profile”, reupload the s

In Search For Missing Kids And Beast
2007-09-20 03:52:54
Malaysia is heated up recently with a cruel crime, “Child found sexually assaulted and killed”. I am sure that every Malaysian knew about this and if you don’t know, get a read of this and see how cruel a brainless man can be to satisfy his vulgar needs! “Oh my God” is what I said when I saw the newspaper report which cited the girl’s injuries and the state of the body. Two girls are in the spotlight, one is missing with no one knew about her existence and the other was found brutally killed and being stuffed into a bag. Now, the news is being linked together, “DNA tests: Body found in bag is Nurin”, the girls in the news is the same girl! Although the DNA reports clearly states that the girl found dead in the bag was the missing girl, the parents is still denying it. Who to blame? Is the girl lack of parent’s care and attention? Do we lacked police patrol? Is it true that the norm of the society is changing and criminals are now numb against the law or

Baby And Adults
2007-09-19 05:28:51
If an aunty you don’t know gives you something like a moon cake to eat, will you take it and munch it in your mouth? I guess most of you will question what is wrong with the moon cake, maybe it’s dirty, and maybe the aunty wants to kill you or something that is bad about the moon cake. You might think this is normal right? This happened on me today and I instinctively left the moon cake on a table and fled the place. My thoughts brought me to some time very long ago, when I was a baby and at the time where I was a kid. At that time, I barely ignore food. What is handed which can be eat, I’ll munch it immediately with my mouth. What about you all? Are you guys like me or it’s just me that love to eat when I am young? What gave me think of this is that many of us learnt many stuffs and experienced many things in our life until now. The world had taught us so much, including, alertness and the sense of danger everywhere we go. (more…)

Google Launch Online Presentation Software
2007-09-18 05:40:04
Google just launched Google Presentations, their own online presentation creator which they claimed to be Microsoft Power Point alike as they inched another step forward of producing another online software after the launch of their online word editor and spreadsheet. It can be accessed through Google Docs and you will need a Google account to use it. I went to try out the new online presentation creator software but I leave the place with disappointment. The dashboard layout has been really nice and user-friendly but I find most of the functions that Microsoft Power Point offers are not there. I like the design and icons which is very nice and pleasant to the eyes but this is not the case when we look at software. There are a number of pre-customized themes which some of them is quite nice to me, for new software like this. Also, the tool will auto-save your documents whenever you edit it and the amazing thing is that if something went wrong when you are creating your slides, you can

Wayne Liew 1 - MOL Freedom 0
2007-10-02 02:13:49
I got this e-mail from Alex who gave the second smack on my face after I got to know that EON Bank MOL Freedom Prepaid Credit Card can be used to withdraw PayPal funds but in the mail I received from him just now suggested that MOL Freedom is not that good or even worse than the AmBank NexG card I am using right now. In the mail, what I said previously after coder commented radically that the support that was being offered on MOL Freedom is not good is being stated by Alex after he contacted EON Bank to seek solution for the failure to withdraw PayPal funds with his card. Read me well, this means that EON Bank MOL Freedom Prepaid Credit Card is now in the list of unusable cards to withdraw PayPal funds. This incident confirms that only cards with the Visa logo, which includes Al-Radjhi Debit Card and Public Bank Electron Debit Card can be used in withdrawing PayPal funds as pointed out by Sabahan in his posts, “Malaysian Can Now Withdraw Money from their PayPal Accounts”

Choose The Ideal Payment Method
2007-10-01 06:08:32
The following two recent happenings on the Internet regarding to payment methods will give internet money makers wannabes, especially those residing in restricted countries like Malaysia, a golden opportunity to start or step up a gear in money making: Google Adsense users can now be paid through the Western Union service straight into your bank account. ~via Sabahan’s “Google AdSense Payment via Western Union Is Now Available to All Malaysian Publishers” PayPal enabled it’s users to start withdrawing funds into their debit and credit cards. ~via my post “Malaysians’ PayPal Dream Comes True” With this two methods implemented by the “giants”, you will now have more options in realizing the money you have earned which previously might have been restricted to just cheque payments and PayPal accounts (previously, “backdoor” methods have been used in cashing out). This also means that you can now sign up for most of the advertisement platforms o

PayPal Dreams Broken! Now What?
2007-09-30 00:33:33
The news that PayPal is now allowing their users to withdraw funds to credit cards or debit cards formed a wave and swept past Malaysian blogosphere yesterday. I have posted about my encountering with this in my article “Malaysians’ PayPal Dream Comes True”. The truth is that there are many Malaysians who tried it out and got through the “Add Your Card Details” gateway with most of the credit cards and debit cards but sadly, some don’t. Updated: Sabahan pointed out in “Malaysian Can Now Withdraw Money from their PayPal Account” that apparently all Mastercard still can’t be used and PayPal is still working on the issue. This means only cards with the Visa logo can be used in withdrawing PayPal funds with cards from United Overseas Bank (UOB) not included. Alex from A New Chapter In Life, which I mentioned earlier, gave another smack on me for MOL Freedom as he commented that: The balance will show up basically 3-4 working days (well t

Malaysians’ PayPal Dream Comes True
2007-09-29 04:40:50
There are so many people asking me on how of cash out from their PayPal account and now this post is making your dreams come true because PayPal is allowing you all to withdraw your funds into credit cards, debit cards and bank cards embossed with either Visa or Mastercard logo. I read this on Sweet Surrender’s “Malaysians Can Withdraw Paypal Now! - Debit Card Version” and I quicky logged into my PayPal account to withdraw my lump sum of PayPal funds after I posted my article, “Reinvest PayPal Funds On Blogging”. Let’s follow me for the step-by-step: First, you click “Withdraw”to go to your withdrawal page. You will be directed to a page where you will have to enter your credit card or debit card details which includes your billing address of the card you have entered. Guess how much I withdrew after the jump! (more…)

Reinvest PayPal Funds On Blogging
2007-09-29 03:29:27
Many Malaysian bloggers have this problem of cashing out from their PayPal earnings (not a problem any more!). There is a solution but the fees are quite high and fees are needed for everything, depositing money into the bank account, checking your balance through an ATM machine, monthly fees and even charge fees when you withdraw. The worst will be all the fees are in US Dollar! With this, I am still waiting for a higher balance in my PayPal account before I apply for this “expensive” facility and at that time, I’ll be blogging about it. Do you ever wonder about what you can do with your PayPal earnings apart from shopping on eBay and wait for your funds amount to grow? I am sure everyone of you heard of investment before, right? Investment is to get more benefits than the benefit you put in. I will tell you how you can invest your PayPal funds into your blogging hobby. When I say reinvesting your blogging earnings, I supposed you should be thinking of advertising o

Don’t Pee Under A Storm
2007-09-28 01:18:42
This is a warning for those who have a small “tank” and need to go to the toilet frequently. If you are on the highway, you just past the rest area and the next rest stop is about 10km away, your little tank is overflowing and the next thing you thought of is to stop your car by the road side and ease yourself in the storm. The next time when this solution came through your mind, think twice, it might be your “lucky” day if the “Lightning God” fell in love with your private part or for boys, your penis. This a real story, not bullshitting as it really happens, not to me of course, but this 29 years old Croatian guy featured in “Biker’s penis hit by lightning”. The lightning earthed itself through the man’s penis when he was peeing in the rain. He was quoted saying this after he woke up: I don’t remember what happened. One minute I was taking a leak and the next thing I knew I was in hospital. When I say “he woke
