Silence & Bang = Chess Boxing!
2007-09-01 12:02:41
Do you people remember one of my earlier posts “Chess – A Game Of Brainees”? I think now I have to rethink about the concept. Recently while I was scanning the newspapers, I stumbled upon a bizarre game – Chess Boxing! Sounds great, huh? I then did some research on this topic and am now sharing my knowledge with you. Chess Boxing, what’s that? A French film director & cartoonist Enki Bilal invented this game in 1992. He wrote a famous graphic novel titled “Froid Equateur” in which the plot revolves around his imaginative chess boxing. Later a Dutch artist Lepe Rubingh was inspired by this and thus brought this concept to life. This game is played by a 4 minute round of chess, followed by a 2 minute round of boxing. It consists of upto 11 alternative rounds of chess & boxing. There is a 1 minute break in between for the players to change their gears. Now you must be wondering how the winner is decided? The game is decided by checkmate or knocko

Kids Can Surely Make A Difference!
2007-08-31 21:55:42
In a small town near the city loved a poor boy named Ryan. His family was so poverty-stricken that they did not receive two square meals even after sweating briskly the whole day. Thus at a young age, Ryan had to do some job for fulfilling his family’s needs. It was Ryan’s greatest dream to study in a good school. He often told his Mom, “”Ma, I want to become a renowned doctor when I grow up”, to which his mother only nodded her head being depressed and continued with her work. In this way, Ryan’s desires were buried deep inside his sorrowful heart. Ryan worked in a lavish house which he had always dreamt of having. The family that owned this house possessed immense wealth. They had two children, Kelly & Dick who were really kind souls unlike their parents, who had no soft corner for anybody and were greedy. Kelly & Dick came to know about the condition of Ryan and they felt pity for him. They therefore decided to help him. Finding a suitable opportunity

My discovery of the ‘Blogosphere’!
2007-08-30 13:10:55
It was a dull winter Sunday. The city was covered with cold white snowflakes and unpleasant frost. The bright shimmering sun was behind a huge cloud. This made my morning more dreary and gloomy. I woke up hoping for a good day ahead, but the opposite was in store for me. I decided to have a bath in hot water in order to protect myself from the dreadful weather outside. I poured the water on myself thinking it was hot but I had a hard lump in my throat when I understood that the water was biting cold. Oh yes, My hand and feet became numb and I stood there for a few seconds as an ice-statue. Suddenly, the gravity of the situation struck me hard and I was so irate that I opted out of taking a bath today. I felt sticky and uncomfortable but my strong willed nature controlled my feelings. I then went down to have a sumptuous breakfast. Wow! The plates were full of my favorite dishes. I forgot all my anguish and decided to devour this feast. I cursed my lucky stars when I saw a fly

The Land Of Paper People
2007-08-30 13:06:01
“Hurry up! I can’t really wait so long to explore this house”, shouted the excited Mak to his elder sister Maria. “Coming, a minute please” replied Maria. Mak & Maria are twins aged 10. Mak is taller and stronger than Maria and thus more obstinate. They both have just moved into the countryside and have now bought a great old house as their abode. Their parents are unpacking the belongings and so Mak & Maria believe this is the right opportunity to explore this house. “We’ll be back in an hour, Mom”, shouts Maria running as fast as her legs could carry her. With her long hair tied in a pony she is exhausted when she reaches the old staircase where the burly Mak is scowling at her for coming so late. Soon thereafter they started exploring the house and decided to start with this old staircase. “Ah!”, says Mak “that fifth stair looks a bit weird and out of place. Isn’t it a bit strange?” But Maria had already started the race to that step. Mak followed

Overcoming Your Fear
2007-08-30 13:04:21
“Oh no mom, I can’t go there all alone! It’s so dark in the attic.” said the feeble voice of Williams. William is a 12 year old boy who is scared of almost everything around him. He is terrified of his teachers, parents, ghosts, reptiles but all this is a trifle compared to his fear for darkness. Oh yes! He is too scared of the dark. He has a weird feeling of unknown things brushing past him in the unpleasant darkness. He usually ends up hurting himself by tripping over a table or chair. This small brown haired, dark-eyed child is too different from his classmates because he has such a strange nature. Thus he has no friends and is scared or lonely most of the time. One fine day, Mrs. Jones, William’s mother decided to take him to the bank so that he does not sit idle the whole day. William reluctantly followed his mother as he had no other alternative. They had a brisk walk to the small bank nearby. They entered the bank and sat down on the long rows of chairs to wait for th

Can I Change The World??
2007-08-30 12:44:04
I wish there was a tree On which I could live free Like a bird in the air Who has freedom every where I wish there was a day On which people, were happy & gay And I could see no one Weeping and crying but having fun I wish people were not greedy And thought of all those who were needy There should’ve been greenery all around And I would’ve lived in a house that was round I wish I could have lots of candies Without having any cavities And thus my wish list surely does continue Wishing for a world that’s all new!!Wow! I really can't believe I wrote this poem. All my wishes embedded in one poem itself! Great, isn't it? I would appreciate if you could share your wishes with me too...........

Abracadabra! - My One Day Wonder!!
2007-08-29 07:17:15
One fine Sunday morning, during my summer holidays, I was sitting under the scorching heat of the sun waiting for my friends on the playground. I had been sitting there since an hour and believed that I would roast if I sat there a second longer. The immense excitement it offered to indulge myself in a great game of hide-and-seek compelled me from going back. Alas! My friends had entirely forgotten about this afternoon appointment and were watching the television at home. Then suddenly I saw something lying near my feet. Full of inquisitiveness I decided to have a closer examination of it. I then understood that it was only a small piece of wood, but there was something in it that attracted me. Oh yes! It’s striking resemblance to Harry Potter’s wand. I chuckled foolishly to myself. I was then determined to check it out for entertainment. I drew a circle in the air with the wand and ordered it to produce a great feast before me. I was stunned and dazed when my

Absent Minded Professor
2007-08-25 09:39:19
There sitting on the computer For hours and hours and hours My father sat on a chair As if he was on a different planet like Mars! Oh! He is really a genius An unexpectedly good one Born in our family I’m sure I will be the next one But no matter how much he tries And looks around hard by using both eyes He still can’t find his car keys Which I can see lying near his thighs!! Is there any one in your family who is as absent-minded as my father? I will certainly not know about it until and unless you tell me. So why hesitate to inform?

Rescuing A House On Fire!
2007-08-19 10:09:00
I tripped several times as I walked along this path to explore the old but majestic house, which stood amidst the hills carpeted in green. It was now ruined with its beautiful white stones falling down. I imagined how grand and splendid it would have been some years back and it would surely be a treat to the eyes to look at it then! But it was now all dilapidated and unoccupied. Wild flowers grew in the crumbling walls. A wild plum tree grew straight out of the floor where had there once been the garden ground. Lizards scuttled over the stones while a melodious cuckoo sat on the empty window and sang its heart out. My family was visiting the hill side to spend our vacations. I was taking my usual morning walk when I discovered this house. Filled with curiosity and inquisitiveness, I decided to explore it. It looked a bit strange among the dainty blue bells and beautiful prim-roses that grew near the hills and oh! yes, a host of golden daffodils swaying in the breeze was in sig

A Memorable Maddening Journey !
2007-08-11 22:55:27
Did I tell you all about my worst experience of traveling in an Indian train? I suppose not, so then this is the ideal opportunity. When my summer vacations started on May 19, my family had planned a trip to our native place. We were supposed to travel this long journey by train. I grumbled and groaned at the thought of this. Nooo ! I never wanted to travel in those trains once again, but who cared??? I reluctantly climbed aboard the train. When I struggled in the vast crowd and reached my seat, I learnt that with a lady would be sitting next to me. How really irritating ! this lady had sharp features and a loud mouth. She wore luxurious clothes and looked wealthy. I despised looking at her and settled down comfortably on my seat with a book. Unluckily this lady had decided to make life a hell for me and she literally succeeded. Oh yes guys ! believe me she did ! She was as I said a proud and wealthy lady but that was not the trouble. The problem was that she boasted too much !

2007-09-27 12:43:38
Every child is eagerly waiting for the month of December. Of course! Because of the festival- Christmas. I know it’s too early to talk about Christmas but how could I restrain myself?? Who does not want some awesome gifts and a delicious feast? I guess everyone does! Today I’ll tell you about a curious incident that happened during last Christmas. I lay longingly on the bed staring into the dying embers. It was Christmas Eve and after a fabulous dinner I was waiting for Father Christmas. This time I was determined to catch him! Suddenly I heard a loud thud in the living room near the chimney. I eagerly ran to inquire. My eyes nearly boggled out when I saw a fat jolly man with a thick white and experienced beard. He was wearing a red coat and pant with white cuffs. He also had a huge red cap on his head. Oh yes! I couldn’t believe that this was really Father Christmas! He too out a nicely wrapped present and put it near the fireplace beside the Christmas tree. I was thrilled! I

Once again this time I bring you news about the bizarre things in this world! Ever heard of a house made of plastic bottles? I’m sure you’re surprised, so read on….. A math professor in Siberia decided of a queer way to celebrate his retirement. He moved into a house made of only & only plastic bottles! He built this house himself by the way. It took him a long way of 5 years to make this house made of 13,500 plastic bottles. This professor by the name Tomislav Radovanovic from the central town of Kragvejac built this 60 square metre house. He says that he hopes to enter his name in the Guiness Book of World Records and has already sent an application. Oh! Poor Maria!!
2007-09-24 09:10:33
Maria was a little girl who did not like to study mathematics. She got really poor grades in that particular subject. Her father, being a cop, was really strict on that poor soul. He scolded her hard and often gave her punishments if she did not do well. So, Maria was very scared of him. Maria as usual had got a zero in her Mathematics test, but this time she nearly fainted in dismay. The reason for this was that her father had warned her that if Maria got any more poor grades in the upcoming tests, he would thrash her hard. Thus, Maria was terror struck. Poor Maria was so scared that evil thoughts captured her innocent mind. She decided that she would lie to her father about her test results. This way she believed that she could save herself from a sound thrashing. That night Maria tossed and turned in bed. She could not get a sound sleep and the reason, I hope you all know. She kept on seeing nightmares about her father having discovered her lies and flogging her hard. This way

My Day In The Year 2080
2007-09-23 01:35:11
Have you ever wondered how a day in future would be? This time I have in store for you a day of the year 2080 emerging from my imagination!! ‘Bang-Bang’ goes the alarm system and the whole room is lit up. The computerized sleep alarm near the bed shows that my body has just had enough 8 hours of sleep. As usual, I woke up wearily (my habits can’t be changed!) and soon put on my mp7 shirt enjoying the great rocking tune being played on it. I then stand on the escalator to go and brush my teeth when it suddenly comes to a screeching halt midway between the path to the bathroom and in the flash of a lightning I am seated upon a chair that automatically moves forward. My head is then held tight by some robotic machine and amazingly I was dressed and ready in the wink of an eye! A bit uncomfortable of not washing my face myself I sit down to watch the television as there is an hour left for the school to start. After watching the television for sometime I fold the T.V and

Weird World!!
2007-09-19 11:43:23
Hey! There are really strange things going on in this interesting world! I am here this time to tell you all about this strange new world. A woman in Germany has started a business of making clothes for customers from her pet dog’s hair. Bettina Menkhoff, 50 from Stroetze in Germany makes scarves, gloves and other clothes from dog hair and then sells them on the internet. The lady says that she got this idea after she bought a pair of socks made from Bobtail-wool. She herself has four Bearded collies and has started to yarn their hair. She says that this technique is only useful when the hair is more than 4 cm long…. If you are interested, you can visit her site Jolly-Fellows. As I cannot understand German, I am hoping that some of my German friends will translate it for me! Strange, yet interesting! What do you think? Do tell anymore of such tales if you know about them!

A Ghost All Around Her!
2007-09-15 18:33:48
Annabel’s parents had bought an old palatial bungalow in a countryside and they had just shifted into it. Annabel had a huge dark room all to herself. This was the first time she was going to live all alone in her room. Until now she had always shared a room with her caring, elder brother, Mark. He loved his sister more than anything else in the world. But now, Mark had found a reasonably good job in air force as a fighter pilot and was away on a flight. Annabel was a bit scared about the gloomy room, but when she remembered that it was the day when her brother was to return, she was chirpy and gay throughout the morning. She noticed that there was something strange in the household. Her mom was not joyful and as jubilant she used to be. Her father was unusually gloomy and was sitting with a newspaper, but his thoughts seemed to be immersed elsewhere. The whole day Annabel happily made plans to welcome her brother after his tiring journey. After an unusually quiet dinner

I am full of fear Because my exams are so near I haven’t studied at all So I’ll have to sit and study at nightfall And if I can’t get proper sleep I’m sure I’ll doze off while writing the answer sheet So don’t be crazy like me And study also through tea Thus if you study throughout the year You’ll have no examination fear!! Hi, folks. As my exams are starting tomorrow, I couldn’t think of anything else but study and fear and hence this piece of poem. Wish me luck. I need it!!!

Those Crowded Malls .....
2007-09-13 10:18:28
With the rapid development, there is no empty space anywhere in my city. Builders have erected huge shopping complexes and multiplexes in every nook & corner. This is what I dread the most! As new malls started arising out of the blue in the city, certainly I was excited to visit the brand new one near my house. With a million dollars in my pocket (kidding, of course, actually with a hole in my pocket) I set off with much thrill and enthusiasm and quickly reached my destination. Wow! such a huge building. Standing tall and majestic in the scorching heat of the sun, it did look grand. Certainly impressed, I entered the mall. All around the place were…… of course….. people! Thousands or may be……. millions! At first I was dumbstruck thinking that the whole of the city’s population was present there. I was truly amazed. Anyways, I had to continue, so I decided to enter the first shop. My wicked mind chuckled at the thought of how the shopkeeper would react when
