Snap Is Cool!
2006-11-28 08:49:25
I’ve incorporated a really cool web tool in this blog. It’s called Snap. In case you didn’t notice, every time your mouse pointer hovers over any link on this blog, you’ll get a small preview window of the site that it’s linked to, so I don’t actually have to go to that site or blog. I can just hover my mouse pointer over the link, look at the preview and decide if I wanna go to that site or blog. Go and check it out and try it on your own blogs!

Breakdancing Toddler
2006-11-28 18:35:01
Touted as the most talented toddler in the world (other than me of course! ahem!!) the breakdancing toddler has released a 2nd video. Check out those moves! [Link to video] Do you think Mummy will allow me to stand on my head like that? It looks pretty neat! Somehow face-mashing has kind of lost its appeal. Time to try some other stunt maybe?

Happy 1st Blogaversary To Us
2006-11-29 19:17:01
Exactly one year ago, out of the blue I suddenly remembered that I had registered a blog with Blogger way back in 2003. I never got round to starting the blog until 2 years later. At that time Ajab had already gone past his first birthday. I hatched a brilliant plan to write a baby blog from the point of view of a baby. It had been done before by other bloggers but I had bigger and more grandiose visions. I was going to not only write as my 14 month old son, I’m going to visit as many blogs as I can and leave comments …. as a 14 month old boy. Thus Ajab’s blog, The Importance Of Being Curly was born. Blogger no more - The Toddler Giant’s old stomping ground at Blogger It was funny reading the reactions of our readers. Some were more than happy to play along and replied to my comments as if they were replying to an actual blogging toddler. There were others who didn’t want me to play in the same sandbox and told me to stop calling them “Aunty”.

Mummy And Daddy Out Gallivanting
2006-11-30 14:26:20
*shock!!* I thought they were out at work! It seems that my parents have sneakily left Ayeed and I at Nani’s house and went out and had fun without us. I learnt now that Mummy had an appointment with Prof. Mary Rauff so she took the day off. Daddy only worked in the morning and later in the afternoon they went out for lunch together …. without us! I have the evidence! This was where they went: Oh, how could they?? I wanted to eat chicken rice! They know how much I love chicken rice! They then went to some coffee place and had Snapples (hey! I thought you’re supposed to have coffee at coffee places?): They sat around and did nothing but enjoyed the view. I found out that Mummy nearly fell asleep because of the sun and the full tummy. Urgh!! Could they have actually gone out to celebrate the blog’s first anniversary? I thought they only went out on Friday nights?? Humphh … !! Come, Momo! We have to plan a getaway, just the two of us!

[Link to video] Hah! Daddy thought I was leaving a comment on one of my favourite blogs. Nooo, Daddy, nooo …. I was only pretending to type. If I wanted to leave a comment, I’d do it in private, away from your paparazzi camera! Nyeh-nyeh!!

Momo At 3 Months
2006-12-02 09:10:02
I’m three months old already?? Time really flies! During the past month, I have been practicing more of my kicking and cooing. I like to stand. I enjoy sitting on the rocker chair, and because Daddy has been pushing me hard with the tummy-time, my neck muscles are really strong. Since I can hold my head up better, I’m now facing forward when I’m in the Babybjorn. I’ve experienced travelling in the stroller, and to tell you the truth, it’s not so bad, although the sun does get into my eyes sometimes. Oh, and I love watching TV, especially cartoons with Brother Booboo. To celebrate my 3rd month, Mummy and Daddy brought us out for lunch at Paragon’s Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Actually my parents and Brother Booboo had lunch. I just lazed around and spaced out in the stroller enjoying the fresh air. Mummy said I was a good boy because I behaved really well in the stroller. The same cannot be said of Brother Booboo who, upon entering Paragon, decided

Operation Cot Freedom
2006-12-02 18:57:17
Announcement: Operation Cot Freedom will commence in approximately 1 month’s time. Cot railings that have been in place to hold the Toddler Giant will be removed and the cot converted to a bed. I can’t wait for the opportunity for us to add a few more grey hairs on our heads as we try and keep a toddler in bed and not disturb his baby brother when he’s supposed to be sleeping. What’s parenthood without a little blood boiling challenge, eh? NOT!

Go To Sleep Lads!
2006-12-02 18:44:45
The problem with having two young children sleeping in the same room by themselves is that when one wakes up, more often than not, the other will too. This was the case this evening, when for some reason, Ayeed woke up and started whimpering and calling for us. It was past 10 o’clock and Ajab had just been put in his cot, but still awake and rolling about with his Smillow. I’m not sure whether is was his frequent banging of the side of the cot when he rolled too far, or something else, but Ayeed sure wasn’t going back to sleep. In went Trin to fetch Ayeed. Of course, when one of us goes in to the ‘hot zone’ after putting Ajab in his cot, it’s very rare that we’ll come out unscathed when he’s still awake. So, to avoid a lengthy skirmish (we had enough of that at Paragon earlier), we took Ajab out too. Now both boys were out of their cots and wide awake. None more so than Ajab, who wanted milky when he saw me making one for Ayeed. I tried t

Void Deck Wedding Nightmare
2006-12-03 09:52:57
It’s one of the worst experiences for me as a parent - the void deck wedding. Typical heartland void deck wedding on a Sunday afternoon. When you have two tots in tow, spending more than 1/2 hour at a noisy wedding, braving the multitude of guests while trying to look for seats, trying desperately to handle your kids who are throwing an almighty tantrum, having a fast and furious eating session so that we can attend to the kids - one who is in need of a nap, and the other who hasn’t had his lunch yet - well ….. that’ll raise the blood pressure of any parent! I’ve always hated void deck weddings (I had one too for mine, but that was beyond my control!) and now with two kids, I dread going to these things, unless I’m close to the newly weds or their family. Do they have to play the music so damn loud?? With the speakers like metres away from my ears, I think I’ll go deaf faster than playing my iPod full blast on a daily basis. Arrghhhh!!! Too l

How You Doin'?
2006-12-04 19:40:16
Brother Booboo has been telling me that looking good is very important in life and that a mirror is a metrobaby’s best friend. It’s no wonder that I’ve seen him looking at himself on the shiny surface of our oven or on the sides of our lift. Brother Booboo is so vain! He’s also very charming and he’s taught me phrases that he says are very useful, like “How you doin’?”. I still don’t know what uttering these phrases will result in. I suppose the other person would tell you how their day has been and whether they’re getting enough nap time in the afternoon. Hmmm …. I do look good, don’t I? Even with these rashes on my cheeks. “How you doin’?”

Tidy-Up Training
2006-12-04 16:22:54
Hmmm … Daddy did something out of the ordinary this evening. Usually when it’s my bedtime and I’ve switched off the TV, it’s straight to bed. Today was different. After the TV was off and Smillow was handed to me, Daddy took my Bob The Builder scrambler toy from the floor, handed it to me and asked me to put it into the toy basket. Initially I thought it was weird. Why am I asked to do this? Then I realised, as he picked up another piece of toy, this time one of the puzzle blocks, that he was teaching me how to tidy up the study/playroom. Oh dear …. ! Another one of his brilliant parenting plans. Mummy seems to be very happy with my “achievement” tonight. She clapped whenever I dropped a toy into the basket. Oh, I get it! I pick up a toy or book, dump it in the basket and I’m rewarded with a cheer from Mummy? O … K …. The study/playroom has always been, as everyone knows, super-messy. I guess this is Daddy’s way of ensur

Keyboards Make Good Hiding Places
2006-12-05 18:28:58
The internet is a wondrous place. You can visit far off places without leaving your front door. You can make friends. You can also unearth enemies. It is a double-edged sword. Use it well and it can be an invaluable tool, but handle it with caution. Many people have been burnt by it as well. I’m slightly bemused by all the fuss generated by, what I would call, the “anagram fiasco” that a fellow blogger had experienced. Talk of cryptology and rumours and daggers being flung across the internet. Well, maybe not as severe as that, but there was (or still is) lots of unhappiness felt by those concerned. When one is sitting in front of the computer, the keyboard is mightier than the sword in this day and age. It also makes one a lion when one is in fact, a cowardly mouse. The use of a fake persona and names to hide one’s identity has made it easier for some to use (sometimes abuse) the power of the internet for their own purposes, whatever that may be. Good bloggers,

Boy Arrested For Opening Present Early
2006-12-06 18:47:28
A 12 year old boy was arrested when he defied his mother’s instructions not to open his Christmas present early. Serious! Arrested. A 12 year old boy. For opening his present too early. What is this world coming to? The mother’s reason for calling the police? …. she hoped his arrest would serve as a corrective to disorderly behavior at school and home. I think she has made his disorderly behaviour worse! I hope whenever I get a present and I open it early, I won’t get into trouble with the law! Or Mummy! Discovered On The Web: Alphabet Blocks From Uncle Goose
2006-12-07 05:04:29
Dear Mummy and Daddy, In light of my current fascination with building blocks, I implore you to purchase this: Doesn’t it look nice? It has it’s own wagon to store the blocks! Perfect! After I’m done building skyscrapers with the blocks, I can pull the wagon all over our house. Excellent idea don’t you think? Thank you! Your son, AJBB P.S: Here’s the link to the website. I got it from Babygadget. You know, that cool website that’s always featuring neat stuff for babies and toddlers?

Eating On The Run
2006-12-08 03:36:43
“Ajaaaaaabbb!!!” That’s what you’ll hear a lot if you happen to be at my Nani’s house during my meal times. You’ll also see me running about the house, playing when I should be sitting down quietly and eating. Then Nani has to run after me, or if she’s too tired, holler my name and I’ll come running to her, mouth open, ready to gulp down that spoonful of yummy porridge, before I go running off somewhere again. That’s her style. Even though we have a high chair at Nani’s place, she doesn’t like to use it. She prefers to sit me down on the floor and feed me. Of course, no hyperactive Giant Toddler is going to sit still for long. Soon enough, after the second or third mouthful of porridge, off I’ll go! Would it be better if she sat me down on the high chair like I do at home? Maybe. Of course, at home it’s different because I have my friend Jeffrey, the Giraffe to keep me company on the high chair. And Playhouse

Tummy Time Equals Drooly Time
2006-12-09 16:45:05
Why does Daddy insist on me doing tummy-time? I’m sure he realises that I drool (a lot) when I’m on my tummy. Oh well, if he’s ok with the sofa being wet with my drool, then *sigh* … tummy-time it is … I’m tired ….. I think I’ll just lie down and suck my fist.

The Birthday Extravaganza
2006-12-10 16:01:21
Today was the much-anticipated day on the anniversary of birth, otherwise known as birthday, of one of Brother Booboo’s buddies, Abang Aniq! We all took a short taxi ride and we got there just after the party had begun. Brother Booboo was immediately attracted to the inflatable castle filled with balls thingy and he totally forgot about us for a long time! He was having a ball (or two) while I sat with Mummy and Daddy. I was a very good boy, always staying close to Mummy. I hardly made any noise, preferring to just take in the atmosphere of the party which was starting to get hot - literally because I can see Mummy and Daddy perspiring. I saw and met quite a few mummies and their kids, including Brother Booboo’s supposed sweetheart, MissyE, but Brother Booboo was nowhere to be found (lost in the inflatable castle, perhaps). I can see why Brother Booboo likes her so much. She’s quite a cutie! But I think Brother Booboo was playing it cool, and stayed away from Missy

Cousins' Mini-Outing Without The Giants
2006-12-11 16:41:54
I was on leave today and took the opportunity to wander leisurely about the financial and civic districts (while everyone else was rushing to get to work). More pictures at the Flickr site. I was to meet Trin at 1pm (she was on half-day leave) and we were going to have lunch at some squashed chicken (ayam penyet) place at Lucky Plaza with a trip to check out the newly renovated National Museum to follow, but my cousin called to tell me he had just bought a new camera (D80!! Arrghh!!) and was nearby, so Trin and I hopped on the train to City Hall and met him, his wife, Zafyra and my other cousin at Suntec for lunch at Siam Kitchen. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Zafyra and she looks sooo cute with her pink mittens and booties The ladies took the opportunity to shop, while the baby was left with the daddy. I was getting hungrier by the minute after all that walking this morning. Initially we wanted to dine at Secret Recipe, but Starbucks took over the place where it

Booboo Is Still Exhausted
2006-12-12 07:24:23
On hindsight, I probably should not have gone all the way and ran like a crazed toddler at Aniq’s party. Two days after the event, I’m still exhausted. I just wanna lie down and sleep. The night after we came home from the party, I was so exhausted that I fell asleep on the floor in front of the TV in the study/playroom. Funny enough, the TV was tuned to HBO, which caught my parents by surprise because Daddy was sure he tuned it to Playhouse Disney when he switched on the TV. I can’t remember much of that night. It’s all a blur. But what can a toddler do when he’s faced with all those balls in the inflatable castle? And the push car. And the cake. I just went berserk with joy! It showed on my red face from the exertion of my partying. I’m a regular party-guy, you know? Well I paid the price for it afterwards.

Let's Play In The River
2006-12-13 04:15:18
Or in the drain or the muddy field. Let’s get ourselves dirty, enjoy the sunshine and fresh air and have some fun! Let’s hunt for spiders and chase the butterflies and look for grasshoppers. And after that, we could go fishing for prawns. Kids during my time had so much fun being “creative” with their playtime. Of course, there weren’t any XBoxes or Wiis or PS3s in those days. You’d be lucky if you had a bicycle (I never had one). I remember during my childhood, me and my cousin whom my mom was babysitting, invented new games and used household objects because we didn’t have many toys to play with. We took plastic covers for electrical wires and used them as ramps where we rolled marbles or toy cars. We used strings and tied them to the window grills and made our Ultraman action figures do flying foxes across the kitchen. There was one time I arranged rocks and made an ant condominium complex and watched them scuttle up and down the many floors

PayPerPost Rejected Me!
2006-12-13 11:31:49
For the uninitiated, PayPerPost is another money-making scam scheme where bloggers are paid to write reviews on their blogs. I thought it would be an interesting way to help pay for the cost of hosting this blog. So last week, I applied for this blog to be included in their list of approved blogs. I got a reply from them today. (Click for larger view) “Thank you for your blog submission! Diarrhoea And Eczema Alert
2006-12-13 16:11:35
Both Booboo and Momo are on diarrhoea alert, with both of them having pooed at least 3 to 4 times today. While they have been having a spike in pooing frequency, both seemed fine - Ajab was his usual active self, and Ayeed just a little cranky when I got to MIL’s place this evening (perhaps because he was sleepy). Ajab did throw up once and just before bedtime, he let out a mighty wet and gooey poo, but all seems normal now. Both are tucked-in and sleeping soundly. We’re keeping a close watch on them and hope there are no spikes in temperature. Ayeed’s rash doesn’t seem to get any better. In fact his scratching has made it worse. Yesterday he scratched his cheeks in his sleep so bad it bled. So we had to resort to making him wear mittens; the first time he’s worn them since his newborn days. We’re moisturizing his cheeks twice daily after baths with the hydrocortisone cream that was prescribed when we took him to the GP the other day. On top of that

Discovered On The Web: Anti-Racist Parent Blog
2006-12-14 08:40:46
On the recommendation of Genuine, this is a really useful parenting resource blog for parents hoping to “raise their families with a healthy and realistic approach to race and identity.” I think that it’s important for any parent to raise their kids with an open view towards differences the many races we have here in Singapore and to celebrate not only their own, but to enjoy the diversity in other races as well. So go on and give this blog a read. You might pick up some useful parenting tips as well! [Link to the Anti-Racist Parent blog]

A Day Of Poo
2006-12-15 16:03:26
It’s no fun being sick. My tummy’s all rumbling and tumbling and I’ve pooed like 5-6 times in the last 24 hours. Nani’s also gotten the poo bug. So has Mummy. Thankfully Ayeed’s escaped the bug, although he did poo twice today. Mummy said it was a very nutty, almost curdled cheese-like type of poo. A bit too descriptive for you? Spare a thought for Daddy who had to do poo duty for both of us. But ironically, Daddy with the most sensitive of tummies, has escaped the bug too. Both Mummy and Daddy took leave from work and sent me to the clinic. There was an episode of “soilage of pants due to runny poo” while we were on the LRT, but since the clinic was on the same route as Nani’s house, my parents decided to stop by Nani’s house to change my pants and to drop Ayeed off. So this was the medication I got: That Lactoguard medicine (it’s in a powder form) tastes yucky when Mummy mixed it with water, but I did tolerate most of it wh

Turn Turtle
2006-12-15 16:37:53
Ayeed’s not exactly a turtle but I suspect that’s what he’s gonna look like if he turns over and doesn’t know how to turn back. Oh yes, my brother has managed to turn himself over from a flat on his back position to his tummy! Yay!! He’s so aggressive when he does it too! He looks a bit contorted when he’s trying to turn over, though. He’ll arch his back, turn his head to look behind him, cross his left leg over his right and somehow wriggle his way to his tummy-time position. He seems to like it too, the little contortionist! I saw him eagerly observing Mummy put on her tudong before we left for the clinic this morning. Perhaps he’s trying to emulate me and put on Mummy’s tudong on his head too. Ayeed doesn’t yet know how to turn himself back, so he’ll end up tiring himself out from holding his head up too long and he’ll start mashing his face on the mattress. Incidentally, my parents have replaced both Ayeed̵
