New Reading Material For Booboo 2006-10-12 18:59:17 For all the toys we buy for him, all the books we’ve purchased, what does he play with?
The Yellow Pages
I checked the mailbox this evening and there was a mountain of mail, including the 2006/2007 Buying Guide, a.k.a Yellow Pages. It was wrapped in plastic and I put it on the coffee table with the rest of the bills and other junk.
Ajab thought it was some kind of present, brought to me and urged me to open it. Hokay ….!
Off he went back to the playroom to eagerly flip through the pages.
It doesn’t take much to excite a two-year old toddler. Read more:Reading
Discovered On The Web: Buster Vacuum Cleaner 2006-10-12 12:09:02 I used to be terrified of vacuum cleaners. Those noisy, dusty, evil contraptions snaking its way around the house, sucking everything in its path, including tiny toddler feet (I’m sure the vacuum monster is more than capable of it!).
Now that I am older and wiser, I know that the vacuum cleaner is nothing more than a noisy, dusty and not so evil household appliance that helps Daddy make the house nice and clean.
I wish our vacuum cleaner were as cute as this:
The Buster
vacuum cleaner, designed by a very clever industrial design student for her thesis subject done for Philips. It’s very kid-friendly and we can even sit on it like a ride-on toy! How wonderful! I doubt it’ll be manufactured, but it’s so beautifully designed. And it looks like a cute little slug with its green wheels. Cool!

24-Hour Flu Bug 2006-10-11 18:40:19 I hate being sick! After being such a good boy at the hospital yesterday, I came home and later that night, my nose was flooded and I had a temperature. I woke up at 11 feeling all cranky and stuffy. Daddy picked me up from my cot and put me on the big bed, but as Daddy left the room to make me some milk, I cried some more and almost woke Ayeed up.
Mummy and Daddy thought I would be ok after the milk. They thought I would go back to sleep, but my nose was stuffed full of mucus that I found it hard to breathe. So I did what toddlers who are sick do best - cry. That was the last straw, because this time Ayeed did wake up, and Daddy took me out of the room.
He switched the TV on to let me watch Playhouse Disney for a while. Mummy and Daddy are very good because they relax my sleep time rule a little whenever I’m sick and I get to watch TV till late at night. But Daddy sure wasn’t counting on me staying awake and actually enjoying myself in front of the TV until 2am.
Me enjoyi
My Little Pony 2006-10-11 11:19:01
Dear Mummy and Daddy,
I know this would seem like an unusual request, but can I have a pet? More specifically that tiny pony in the picture? It’s really cute and just the right size for me and Ayeed to play with. I can ride it to the shop when we’re out grocery shopping. You know how you always complain that I don’t walk fast enough and Daddy’s back is too fragile to be carrying a “sack of rice” like me any longer.
So it’ll be a good idea for me to have this pony, don’t you think? I promise to feed it and care for it. He can sleep in my room and I’ll promise to clean up his poo-poo just like you do mine.
In order to help you make up your mind about this pet (the world’s smallest pony, no less!), here’s the link.

Things That Make You Go …. WTF!?! 2006-10-11 08:39:50 Got nothing to say about this piece of news.
Mad. As. Hell.
4 week-old. WTF!!
A northwestern Pennsylvania woman accused of using her baby to batter her child’s father said she didn’t realize what she was doing until it was too late.
Chyrotia Graham, 27, of Erie, told police she had been drinking when an argument with the child’s father turned violent early Sunday morning, according to an affidavit filed to support Graham’s arrest.
Graham said she “snapped” and began grabbing things and throwing them at Deangelo Troop, 20, not realizing (MORON!) she had picked up her 4-week-old (… !!!!) son, Jarron Troop, telling police she held the child by his legs and swung him at his father. Police had said they believed the woman held the baby by the midsection when she hit the man.

Double Doctor's Appointment 2006-10-10 05:49:23 Ayeed and me had our appointment with the doctors at the hospital - me for my 2 year check-up and Ayeed for his hearing test on his left ear. There was some confusion with the appointment time because Mummy thought it was at 11.30am, but at 10.15am the nurse lady from the hospital called Mummy to ask her where we were (still at home, haha!). We took a cab there and when we reached the clinic it was nearly 12pm.
The nice doctor lady checked me and asked Mummy and Daddy lots of questions about my diet, whether I was talking already, how often I fell ill, etc. I then had my height and weight taken. I’m 88cm tall and I weigh (in Mummy’s words) “more than a sack of rice” (12kg). I think it won’t be long now when Daddy would refuse to carry me anymore because of my weight. The doctor said I was all right, then proceeded to do my skin prick test.
As you may recall, I was enrolled in the clinical study at the hospital to investigate the effects of probiotics in m Read more:Doctor
Picture Of The Day #16 - Curious 2006-10-09 17:59:20 This is actually a lousy photo. I was trying to shoot Ayeed lying on the sofa, composing my shot when Ajab suddenly popped right in front of my view and refused to move. He thought the lens was the LCD screen and wanted to see what picture I had taken. I decided to shoot with him in the frame anyway.

Discovered On The Web: Buggypod 2006-10-08 18:47:13 For those of us who have siblings and are going to grow out of our strollers soon, here’s the Buggypod. It’s a clip-on side-car for your stroller. So now as your younger sibling gets all comfy and nice in what used to be YOUR stroller, you’ll be demoted to the side like a ticketless stowaway on a crowded train.
Or at least like a Hell’s Angels biker baby. All I need now is a bushy beard and lots of tattoos.

Bath Time With Momo 2006-10-08 17:24:55 Ayeed used to be so afraid of the bath water that he’d scream whenever Trin tried to bathe him. But not anymore. He’s finding that baths are nice and relaxing.
Make sure I’m nice and clean, ya, Mummy?
Could I have a nice, warm bottle of milk while I soak in the tub, please?
Yikes! Water! Cold!!
His moro reflexes are still strong, waving his hands wildly as soon as he’s lowered into the water, but he’ll settle down and start enjoying his bath.
Momo Brown Eyes! (click on picture for larger view)
Oh, and Ayeed has brown eyes. I know babies’ eyes can change colour, but we think his will be permanent. And look at how hairy his arms are! Just like Ajab.

Boocast #20 - Tummy-Time 2006-10-07 17:50:30 Haha! So you’ve had fun doing nothing for the past 1 1/2 months eh, Momo? Now it’s time for you to start your training! Tummy

Best For Your Butt 2006-10-05 17:24:51 Ayeed had nappy rash the other day and we didn’t have any nappy rash cream or balm in the house. In the long wish list we had, this was one of the things we left out. Luckily we had a sample nappy rash cream in the “baby going home hamper” that the hospital gave us. Yesterday I bought the real thing. Expensive but nappy rash no more! And it smells good too!
The Avent baby butt balm. Sooooothing …..!
Momo's Jab Day 2006-10-05 17:19:46 Today was Ayeed’s appointment with the jabsters but I didn’t get to go along because of work commitments. So Trin went to the polyclinic by herself with Ayeed to get his immunization done (I had sent Ajab to my in-law’s earlier in the morning).
Trin told me that Ayeed screamed bloody murder when he was jabbed. Poor fella. Wish Daddy could have been there for you, little man! He has been gaining weight well and he’s now about 4.1kg. When he first came home, he was 3.2kg, so that’s a weight gain of about 800g in 1 month. Talk about being a giant baby!
It’ll be another day of doctor’s appointments for Ayeed as well as Ajab next week - Ayeed for his hearing re-test, which was “inconclusive” for the left ear the week he was born and Ajab for his 2 year annual check-up. Not going to miss this for the world! Not only because it’s their first doctor’s appointment at the hospital together, but also there is no way Trin could han

He Ain't Heavy; He's My "Ajik' 2006-10-04 17:18:07 He really isn’t heavy. I would have an idea had my parents allowed me to just cradle him in my arms for a while. Oh, I’ve started using the word “AJIK” to describe all people smaller than grown-up size, ie. kids. Daddy says it’s because Atuk always calls me “ADIK”, which means younger brother in Malay, but I ‘modified’ it and pronounced it as “AJIK”, which is cuter, I think.
Anyway, tonight as soon as I reached home, I went over to Mummy who was holding Ayeed, my “ajik”, and plonked a big, fat kiss on him. Mummy and Daddy were so happy.
I don’t know how heavy Ayeed is, but from the way Mummy and Daddy carry him, he seems as light as a feather. He’s a really light sleeper too - waking up at the slightest loud noise. Just last night, Mummy and Daddy decided to give Ayeed a trial run on the cot. They put him to bed in the cot at about 9pm and closed the door. Wow! It was just like I remembered it, w Read more:Heavy
My Debut Post 2006-11-03 07:57:38 Errr …. hello? Is anyone out there? Testing! This is Ayeed Momo. Hello?
I was going to wait until much later for my first post, but being the impatient baby that I am, I just couldn’t wait any longer.
I’ve started babbling, did you know? And yes, just like my brother Ajab, I’m blessed with the ability to blog, even though I can’t even talk or even roll myself over. I’m helpless …. apart from my magical ability to blog. I’ll be writing more soon. Tata for now!

Preemptive Crying - A Revolution In Toddler Tantrums 2006-11-04 18:57:42 Bambinos, I have discovered a new weapon in the arsenal of toddler tantrums that I have. I name it “Preemptive Crying”. It serves to “shock and awwww ….” potential parental negativity in our quest to do things that we’re not supposed to.
I have tested the method to some degree of success in various battle fronts, principally Nani’s house where the opposing forces, my caregivers, more specifically, Atuk, would be shocked and awwww-ed into giving whatever I wanted.
Preemptive crying involves these things:
Reconnaissance to check out the enemy territory and analyse potential weak spots. For example, pointing to a target book on the shelves that toddler hands are not supposed to touch. In this case, Bored Of The Rings by the Harvard Lampoon.
Anticipate negativity from caregivers and parents, ie. the enemy, in the form of the word “No … ” spoken nicely and softly as if to persuade you to give up your attack on the target book. Thi
Mine! All Mine!! 2006-11-03 19:15:09 Mummy and Daddy went out shopping last night at Vivo City and got me some stuff.
New and bigger bottles for me because I’ve started spending time at Nani’s house while Mummy is away at work. Daddy’s going to send all my older 125ml bottles over and instead of buying two sets of 125ml bottles, my parents bought me a set of 4 260ml ones.
I also got this:
Finally!! Something to decorate my cot with - a Lamaze cotside gallery with a mirror so that I can see how I look first thing in the morning when I wake up. I hope I’ll get more toys from Lamaze, just like Brother Booboo and Osman, the Octopus which he has in his cot. Speaking of Brother Boo, that Mr. Fussy book is his, or rather he insisted on taking from Uncle Ruzaini’s shelf. So notty! Like he hasn’t enough books already!
Three Bambinos And A Party 2006-11-05 15:47:45 Finally, after many moons, I met The Brudders, Aniq and Naufal at his first birthday party. It was great!
I was the one of the first guests to arrive so I played by myself while waiting for the birthday boy, who was getting dressed in his errr …. birthday suit (haha!), to make his appearance.
There were slides and an inflatable bouncy bally thingy and crayons and lots of stuff to keep me occupied.
Soon Aniq and I got down to the business of discussing world events and predicting whether the haze would go away soon or not. The signs from the alignment of the balls tell us that it doesn’t look good, though. Naufal was busy being the host of the party and joined us later.
The Mummies and Daddies got down to their own business of comparing us kids and stuffing themselves with food and drinks and generally having a jolly good time.
Being the good parents that they are, they were always on hand to guide us, pick up balls (again and again), draw with us and entertaining us un Read more:Party

Boocast #21 - Ajab And Aniq And Balls 2006-11-05 15:26:25 Oops …. ! I hope I didn’t scare you with my intense ball playing, Aniq! But even if I did, I got one back from you when you indicated to me with a friendly smack that I should behave when I was throwing my tantrum. You’re right! I am the President of the Union after all.

The Practice Of Thumbsucking 2006-11-06 16:11:48 I’ve been reading up on Brother Booboo’s old manifestos, philosophies and theories and he has strongly encouraged me to do this one thing recently - suck my thumb. Remember his philosophy on thumbsucking?
Well, I can’t do it with perfection like Brother Booboo does because I still have the habit of holding my hands in a fist. I haven’t yet learnt the joys of opening up my hands. As such, my palms tend to get a little sweaty and oily sometimes.
And because I don’t know how to fully open up my hands and use them, I’m stuck with sucking my fists for now. There was this one time when I succeeded in getting my thumb in my mouth, but unfortunately, my nails were long and I scratched my gums with them.
I really should learn to control my hands. It’s like they have a mind of their own! I tell them to go one way, and then they go the other or they’re very jerky. It’s as though I’m trying to punch some invisible toy or something.

This is a really great website, especially for dads. Dadlabs.com features parenting advice, highlights cool baby gear, it has blogs, but best of all, it has videos! The one that really caught my eye is the “Dad Labs Breast Pump 101″. If you ever wanted to watch a video with a hairy chested guy trying out a breast pump in order to better understand what a breastfeeding mummy goes through, here’s your chance. It’s hilarious!

They Said #6: The Most Beautiful Thing In The World 2006-11-07 11:04:09 Seeing your child eat and drink, and yes, even poo, after being on a drip for days, is the second most beautiful thing in the world.
Seeing a smile from a sick kid who has been miserable for a week is the most beautiful thing in the world.
From one of my favourite local bloggers, Mr Brown.
In case some of us need reminding about the wonderful but sometimes difficult task of being a parent.
Life isn’t all haahaa, heehee, but seeing that smile on your child, especially when he or she’s been sick, it just melts your heart doesn’t it?
