A Dream Come TrueUpcoming singer/rapper/producer Dream who's resume includes "Umbrella" and "Bed" by J Holiday is already being hailed as the next NeYo. So soon huh? That just goes to show how easily you can be replaced. And we wonder why Beyonce doesn't take long breaks. Dream is married to singer Nivea . Nivea is rumored to be signed to Capitol Records. Dream did some songs on Nivea's last US album,"Complicated" which was really good and sadly overlooked. Let's hope Dream plans to make some hits for his wife. I know a lot of people would like to see Nivea come back out. Mel B pulls a Janet moveMel B. aka Eddie Murphy's baby mama has been secretly married for over 2 months. She has been trying to keep her marriage under wraps but we were bound to find out eventually. His "Finding Forever" is the #1 album in the country and his first #1 album in his 14 year career. I have heard a lot of good things about this cd and I like "The People" track out now. Hip Hop Is "Alive "I'm reading that Nas will have a new album out in December! It will be the follow up to his gold,"Hip Hop Is Dead" album. The only information I read so far is that Polow Da Don(Ciara) will be producing. Nas sparked a lot of controversy with the title,"Hip Hop Is Dead" which had everyone from T.I. to 50 Cent voicing their opinion on hip hop's current state. The controversy helped create a buzz for Nas and some nice first week sales. The album faded fast though due to Nas not having really any single material on the album. If you ever notice the majority of albums that debut at #1 usually fall fast and have a shorter shelf life than an album that debuted at #2.LeToya Caught In A "Def Jam "I just read that JD is trying to lure LeToya over to Def Jam. Beyonce continues to be the overachiever she was born to be. In addition to an upcoming live album,a special EP/DVD will be released exclusively at Walmart. The EP/DVD contains 8 spanish songs and the making of those songs. I also read that Destiny's Child is likely to reunite for a new album. I'm wondering is Beyonce reuniting with DC just to keep herself in the limelight. You know this chick never sleeps especially when she is the new face of Armani and American Express. She is the hardest working woman in the business but you need to take a break. These 3 day breaks where you and Jay Z are canoodling are not cutting it. Mr. & Mrs. Usher Raymond Usher is now reportedly a married man. The singer and his fiance Tameka Foster married quietly this past Friday in Atlanta. The ceremony took place in Usher's lawyer offices. A prenup has been agreed upon and even Usher's mom was in attendance. You Got "50 Cent" To Spare50 Cent appeared on 106 and Park on Friday dropping off his two new videos, "I Get Money" and "Ayo Technology". 106 and Park host Rocsi challenged 50 Cent and Kanye West to a debate. The debate would appear on 106 and Park on Sept 11th. 50 was game and denounced Kanye in his typical conceited fashion. I wonder how those two got along in the studio. You have two strong personalities who are both set on what they want. I wonder if the track is still on the album though. 50 did mention he went and cut 8 new records. We Won't "Usher " Down The AisleThis just in! Usher has called off his wedding which was supposed to take place today. Usher was set to wed his fiance Tameka Foster but no reason has been cited for the abrupt change of heart. If you recall Tameka is pregnant with Usher's child. If I didn't know any better this is part of a publicity stunt. This is becoming Usher's thing now to have publicity play a part in boosting album sales. It works though! Many artists have done it in the past including Foxy Brown, TLC, and Madonna.No "Rush" HourThere will be no soundtrack to the "Rush Hour 3" movie set to be released Aug 10th. JD wrote from his journal stating that the music didn't reflect the movie which is set in Paris. I am continuing to profile some of my favorite videos via YouTube. I'm profiling two videos today that you should check out. You have probably seen them before and you may of not seem the at all. Read on to discover what videos I'm talking about. Remember to vote on those polls! "Everytime " was like the 5th or so single from "The Velvet Rope" album. It was a very different time back then. Janet was still releasing 5 or 6 singles an album. I think what I like about this video the most is that Janet is naked or at least we have the illusion that she is. The song has always reminded me of another song but I could never quite pinpoint it. Janet - EverytimeErykah Badu's "Didn't Cha Know" is one of my favorite songs and videos from Ms. Badu. What I like about the video is the loneliness and despair that is exemplified in the video. I love how Erykah is in a desert and doesn't know which way to go. It is like she is in a maze. A recent article featuring Mary J Blige says she is 19,20 songs deep into recording the follow up to her triple platinum, "The Breakthrough" album. Blige won't divulge the producers she's working with just yet. While there is no release date set, I would assume an early 2008 release is possible.Jay Z might be leaving Def Jam for Columbia. It would make sense since Beyonce is there and Rick Rubin(produced "99 Problems) wants him there. The arrival of JD on Island has shaken things up. If Jay does move to Columbia expect him to becomes Beyonce's manager soon afterwards. This will then mark the beginning of the end of Bee and Jay.Cassie is set to star in "Step Up 2" the sequel to the hit "Step Up". I'm not sure of her role just yet. I Just Need 50 Cent50 Cent is doing and saying everything in his power to outsell Kanye on Sept 11th. Do you really expect to outsell Kanye when you have no hit singles? 50 is going to sell off of hype alone. None of his singles have made any impact so far. Strangely enough I find myself liking every song except the one with Justin Timberlake. 50 has went on record to say that "if Kanye sells more records...I won't put out any more solo albums" The nerve of 50? Kanye is going to outsell you anyway. It is best you bow out gracefully and take the loss. Album UpdateJ Records Emily King's upcoming album,"Eastside Story" has been added to the Upcoming Music Releases section.The album drops Aug 28th. I heard a lot of things about this woman but saw no promo whatsoever. Shame on J. It looks like all their attention goes to Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood which is understandable.
