CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)

2007-08-08 12:08:00
Bharti Airtel is entering the broadcasting segment with Direct-to-Home (DTH) and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) services. It has got approval from I&B Ministry for its DTH venture.IPTV will be launched by December 2007 in partnership with Cisco and initially limited to six cities. DTH would be launched by Q4 of 2007-08 and promoted as a mass product.Through IPTV, Airtel could push up its broadband base as consumers get TV content along with a fixed telephone line. For DTH, Bharti could provide advantage of lower setup cost to consumers as the set-top boxes would be manufactured by its arm, Bharti Teletech.Bharti Airtel has also reduced its share to 40% in the DTH venture, Bharti Telemedia Ltd. to comply with FDI guidelines

Wikipedia Founder Launches New Open-Source Search Project
2007-07-30 03:11:00
There are plenty of things to love about the Wikipedia --the site's search feature, has never really rated near the top of the list, however. The function often goes offline, and when it is working, Wikipedia doesn't often much when it comes to gentle misspellings. Still, the free encyclopedia's cofounder, Jimmy Wales, is seeking to take the world of search by storm the same way he revolutionized information gathering.Wales's company, Wikia, purchased the search project, Grub, as the first step in building "a new search platform founded on open-source search protocols and human collaboration."http://search.wikia.com/wiki/Search _Wikia

Uninstalling Vista
2007-07-30 02:47:00
After playing around with Vista for a few days, you may want to remove it from your system, and reclaim the hard drive space. Microsoft has made this step very simple as well.1.Boot your computer in to Windows XP.2.Ensure you have the Vista DVD image emulated or in the DVD drive.3.Go to “Start” and “Run”. Type in “e:ootootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force” (without quotes, and replacing e: with the drive letter of your Vista DVD).4.Restart the computer, and you will notice the boot selection menu is gone.5.Format the partition/drive where you had Vista installed.6.Remove two files (Boot.BAK & Bootsect.BAK) on your XP drive’s root folder (C:), these were backup files of your previous bootloader, now no longer useful.7.Optional: Restart to ensure it still works.8.Use your partition software to merge your partitions together. And now you have returned your computer to its previous state, without Vista and without the new bootloader. If anyone has any issues, please post it in

My impressions of MotorStorm
2007-08-23 10:56:00
Pros - Amazing graphics, very detailed terrains, each track has its own distinct soundtrack, the crash scenes are amazing, the gestures of drivers are well implemented and fun to watch. Cons - Number of tracks is less, game gets repetitive after a while. Let me start by saying that i was a bit hesitant at first to buy a copy of MotorStorm , due to the short gameplay and less maps to race on. But eventually I bought it, and I can tell you that I’m happy i did. Before anything else, i would like emphasize that Motorstorm truly shines when played on an HDTV. You really get to appreciate the true effort that the guys at Evolution Studios went through to make this game live up to the hype. If you ever got the chance to see the behind the scenes videos, you’ll realize how much detail they have added into the game given the game was to be released on a blue ray disc. They’ve gone to the extent of creating a photo-realistic terrain, which gets deformed after each lap in a race, and act

Debian Etch Problems and Solutions
2007-08-29 14:14:00
I installed Debian Etch in my system a few weeks back and it is a really good distro specially for those without an internet connection at home since all the basic packages are included in the 3dvds of the distro. One problem i encountered after the installation is that i after configuring the network i cannot access the internet even though the IP Address, Gateway and DNS is correct when compared to the other operating systems and the command route -n shows no entry in the ip table. At first i thought that it was just my internet connection which has this problem but later after checking out various forums and IRC i realised that many people faced this problem..There is an easy solution to solve this problem, i.e by manually entering the default gateway and then entering the default host for the device eth0(nic).This is done using the following commands one after another :$route add default gw [ ip address obtained using dhcp ]$route add default gw [ gateway address obtained using dhc

Windows XP Registry Tips
2007-08-29 12:53:00
Even though i'm not a Windows XP fan anymore and my field of expertise is Linux, this is one thing that i should post regarding some registry modifications i have encountered before which is done by the Brontok virus. As we all know, this virus is generally hidden from normal view and it requires a user to enable the option in Tools->Folder Options->View->Show all hidden files. The action that this virus does from being detected in the system by any user or antivirus is by changing a particular value in the registry related to the Show all hidden files option. This change is seen at the location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvancedFolderHiddenSHOWALLHere you can see the Checked Value key is set to 0 which means that even if a user selects the Show all hidden files, the files will still be hidden because the selection is again reverted back to the Do Not Show Hidden Files and this is how the virus prevents itself from being detected in the sys

Take Your PC In Your Pocket
2007-10-12 13:23:00
Came across this awesome technology that transforms your iPod or USB Hard Drive or Flash drive into a portable and private PC.Just install MojoPac on any USB 2.0 compliant storage device, upload your applications and files, modify your user settings and environment preferences, and take it with you everywhere.Mojopac Freedom is the free version, which i've installed. The installation is pretty simple. Just download the exe from Mojopac and just direct it to the portable device you want to install it on.Upon installation, the login screen will come up as shown belowAfter entering the username and password this should take you to the Mojopac Desktop, you will see the loading screen before that as shown belowAfter this, MojoPac automatically launches your environment on the host PCYou can install apps just like in windows and all the operations happen within the Mojopac environment. And when you unplug the MojoPac device, no trace is left behind – your information is not cached on the

My favorite remote access application
2008-02-04 04:40:17
After several attempts failed, to find a good remote access tool. Finally came across this application called Team Viewer, this tool is very fast and easy to setup. More over its free for non-commercial and personal use. After installation of the file, which can be found hereAll i had to was just send an invite to the remote PC i was connecting to and use that remote machines ID and password. Thats all, i could remotely access that machine with ease. This tool also does not take up much of the bandwidth. Hence it makes a great tool for machines with slower connections.Well, although this is a very good application, it does not have an option where i can restrict access to certain drives. This is the only dis-advantage i found in this tool.
