Sony Neighborhood Watch: Arnold Schwarzenegger
2007-08-07 21:43:43
Let’s face it. The video game industry has been facing some tough times legally. Although all the anti-game laws lately have been shot down by federal judges, it won’t be long until one slips through the cracks and gets passed. This brings us to our Sony Neighborhood Watch of the week, Arnold Schwarzenegger . According to an article in Spong, Arnold Schwarzenegger is appealing a law which sought to ban the sale of violent video games to minors. Here at 599USD we don’t like immigrants deciding what should or should not be a law, especially if they are fighting for a law we don’t like. Sony Nation, he might be the Terminator, but I think it’s safe to assume the PS3’s Cell processor can defeat him Unlike other narrow minded politicians, Arnold Schwarzenegger is from the god-forsaken future where Skynet’s humanoid terminator robots control the world. If Arnold’s appeal is successful it could cause a domino effect all across the country, possi

599USD Reviews #3 Gears of War
2007-08-07 00:30:33
Gears of War Repetitive piece of crap. Gears of War is a third-person shooter made by the developer of the Unreal series, Epic Games. But the average hardcore gamer simply cannot compare brilliant Unreal games such as Unreal Tournament, Unreal II and Unreal Tournament 2003 to this abomination of a video game. According to many (and by many I mean Microsoft fanboys), this is the Xbox 360’s best game so far. Those many are full of shit.   Marcus, the game’s main protagonist, poses while there’s a raging inferno behind him. What a hero.   Gameplay Shoot. Take cover. Shoot. Take cover. Shoot. Bumrush. Chainsaw. Take cover. Congratulations, you’ve just finished the game! 0/10 Graphics The graphics of this game are phenomenal. It looks stunning on Widescreen televisions, and looks great on Standard televisions as well. I didn’t catch any frame rate problems, everything looked good. The environmental design is very detailed, and sometimes you stan

Unreal Tournament 3 Will Have Mouse And Keyboard Support
2007-08-06 20:32:17
The Playstation 3 exclusive UT3 will be including PC-like controls when the game ships this fall according to Epic Game’s Mark Rein on the Epic Games message board. “I checked with Steve Polge, and he said that yes, we are supporting keyboard and mouse in Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3,” explained Rein. “He is confident we are doing it in a way that will be balanced without feeling ‘gimped’ for either side. We’ll also allow people to choose whether or not they want to allow mixed controller vs. keyboard/mouse games or not.” This game will make the Wii and 360 obsolete This announcement is ground-breaking for several reasons. The first being players will now be able to play first-person shooters in the more preferred style of control. The second reason is that Sony will have beaten Microsoft to the punch in adding mouse and keyboard support to their console. This undoubtedly will be a major factor when choosing which console

PS3 capable of driving cars?!
2007-08-06 20:22:12
A San Diego team called Axion Racing has created one of the most innovative and foreshadowing uses for the PS3 yet. As part of competition called the DARPA Challenge, the team took a PS3 running Linux and put it in a car with a set of cameras to keep the car on the road without human assistance. Could this be the first of many practical everyday uses for the PS3? It certainly is powerful enough to trust our lives with.     The future of automobiles

360 Bundle-In is a Few Decades Late
2007-08-05 15:15:20
It was recently leaked out through a retail employee photo that Rockstar’s Table Tennis may be included with future 360 systems (post price-drop). Am I mistaken, or has a video game system already have had a packaged table tennis game? Oh ya, PONG!

No Nintendo Conference At Leipzig = Epic Lulz
2007-08-04 22:59:43
All of this Xbox hate is making us forget the company that all of us hate most of all: Nintendo . I mean, at least Microsoft is trying to create worthwhile games, even if they get it wrong most of the time (not to mention their aformentioned baby killing scandal). Nintendo is, to be blunt, stupid. They are seriously taking the video game industry in the wrong direction, steering away those who really matter: gamers. I mean, look at this new piece of news. Nintendo won’t even hold a conference at Leipzig, one of the biggest video game events of the year. Conferences are extremely important. Without them, no one will get to see any of those cool video game montages, those neat little graphs, or men talk about their exciting consoles. Nintendo doesn’t care about the core-gamer anymore, and they’re not trying to hide this. At E3, Wii Fit was proof of their loyalty to the casual gamer (old people and 8-year olds). Now come August they’re just going to focus on the han

Xbox makes boy torch his house and kill his brother
2007-08-03 22:58:34
It seems the Xbox and Death have been having hot passionate sex lately because you can’t seem to break them apart. In another story sure to shock many a 14-year-old boy named Matthew Stringer torched his house after his brother Craig had confiscated his Xbox because Matthew had stolen £5,000 from his cash card. His mother Karen, 44, brothers Craig, 24, and Gary, 20, Gary’s girlfriend Carys Harrison, 18, and sister Jade, 13, all got out. Unfortunately 15 year old Adam didn’t get out. Another victim of the Xbox and it’s devilish ways. The Xbox takes another victim Some people say 599 US Dollars.com is not very serious, but in all seriousness, the editors at 599USD express our sincerest condolences for those who have lost their lives due to the Xbox. Whether it be from the Xbox possessing your child into torching the house and killing family members or the Xbox power cord….torching the house and killing your baby, we are deeply sympathetic to your situation

599USD Talks #4: The Xbox Baby Killing Scandal
2007-08-02 23:20:41
Stalin. Hitler. Gates. These three names strike fear into the bodies of cultured individuals from all across our blue marble. Although he causes dismay and obvious fright when mentioned, the head of Microsoft was normally not compared to vicious dictators that killed thousands. Well, now he is. These are the three horsemen of the apocalypse. Who’s the fourth? The once innocent Xbox , Bill’s own black behemoth, has turned out to be a baby killing machine. This piece of technology is now a murderer. I have no documented proof that Stalin or Hitler themselves killed any babies, but it can be assumed. So what makes them any different than the monster that plays the original, less decked out, Ninja Gaiden? Microsoft wants this baby dead For those of you unaware of the story, a cheerful family of three were torn apart by the power cord (that is actually much smaller than the Xbox 360’s power brick, believe it or not) that was recalled due to its explosive ways. The very same exp

2007-08-02 23:06:40
New screenshots of images from the most realistic (and superior) racing game series of all time have emerged. We at 599USD appreciate this taste-test of what is certain to be the best Gran Turismo game yet. The graphics are realistic and the gameplay is sure to be on par. Here are some of the one’s I particularly liked: Oh hell I’ll just post them all. Enjoy! I almost mistook these for real photos   A nice glimpse of the detail put into small things   *Drools uncontrollably   Microsoft can only stare with their jaws open and wish that they had put a cell processor into the 360.

GTA IV delayed until 2008
2007-08-02 18:58:15
Earlier today, Take-Two Interactive held a Press conference concerning one of their most popular franchises, Grand Theft Auto IV. According to the conference, GTA IV will be planned for a Q2 2008 release, “…due to additional development time required to complete the title.” So what does this mean for the PS3? GTA IV will be coming soon, don’t worry The average Nintendo fanboy would assume that the PS3’s holiday sales will be affected by the delay, but let’s not forget that the PS3 has more to offer this holiday season. With a game library like Hannah Montana: Spotlight World Tour, Lair, and Unreal Tournament 3, Sony fans have nothing to worry about.

Wii Fit is Japan’s most anticipated “game” title
2007-08-10 10:27:23
There seems to be quite troubling news this morning. A recent poll given by, the world renowned, Famitsu magazine received it’s results today. The poll was on what the readers most anticipated items shown at E3 and the Playstation Premiere event were. The results, for the most part are downright disturbing. 1. Wii Fit 2. New PSP model 3. Gameplay demo of Metal Gear Solid 4 4. Upcoming software for the PlayStation 3 5. Upcoming software for the Xbox 360 6. Announcement of the Zapper for the Wii 7. Little Big Planet 8. Super Smash Bros. Brawl 9. Peter Moore leaving Microsoft to go to EA 10. PlayStation Home The virtual aerobics simulator, which will be catering to Chuck Norris -fitness DVD watching-weight watchers, seems to be at the top of the most anticipated game-related items for Japan ese readers of Famitsu. This is down right frightening and seems to be a disturbing trend in this industry. Games should be about the 3 G’s’ Guns, Girls, and Graphics. With Wii Fit, a

Microsoft ditching the Xbox 360 Core Pack?
2007-08-09 18:25:13
News has been circulating that Microsoft is phasing out their Xbox 360 Core System in favor of ones with HDMI support, or perhaps simply getting rid of the model altogether. Kotaku recently published an article which found that Core Systems are dissapearing off store shelves. Remember, all of this comes after the recent $50 price cut, not to mention Amazon.com’s even more reduced price. To me, all of this screams deceit. If I am correct in my assessment (and I always am), Microsoft’s tiny price cut was only made with the foreknowledge that they will introduce “double-premium” systems with HDMI support. What does this all mean to you? If you bought an Xbox 360 due to the price cut, then Microsoft played you for a fool! This is a clearance sale, people! Hopefully none of you were duped into Microsoft’s heinous scheme. I’m confident that none of you considered buying a 360 at all, so I am put at ease. Here’s the Core System. Got a good look? Okay

Pachter Predicts Next PS3 Price Drop In Early 2008; PS2 Could See Price Drop This Year
2007-08-09 02:09:43
Video game analysts are very similar to us at 599USD. We both get our information from the gut. Wedbush Morgan analyst, Michael Pachter, known around the industry as a “reputable games analyst” states that the PS3 will most likely receive a price cut around the time GTA IV and MGS4 come out. “We do expect Sony to be in a position to cut the price of the PlayStation 3 in early 2008, when blockbuster games Grand Theft Auto IV and exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 will launch,” he concluded. He also states some other interesting tidbits: “Although we do not expect another PS3 price cut this year, we think a price cut for the PS2 is possible, any hardware price reduction could serve as a catalyst for sales growth later in the year.” Like I said in the past when the PS3 had a temporary price drop of $499, a lower price is always a great thing for consumers. Gamers, who unfortunately don’t make a good enough living to afford a PS3 at $599, will be able to

PS3 Is Crushing Xbox 360 In Sales
2007-08-08 15:55:26
According to VGchartz, in the week ending August 5th, the Playstation 3 absolutely destroyed the Xbox 360 in sales. In almost every region in the world the PS3 sold more then the 360. It can be safe to assume that Sony will regain market leader by the end of the year if the PS3 continues this trend of absolute domination. To ensure that the PS3 does meet this goal, it is important that you, the Sony Nation, convince your friends who haven’t picked up a console yet, to pick up a PS3 this holiday season. A possible suggestion of a PSP to go along with it wouldn’t be a bad idea either ;). The only inherit problem with vgchartz isn’t their possibly inaccurate numbers, but the fact that they include non-hardcore game systems in their charts and graphs. Lucky for you I’ve fixed the chart this week to only include real gaming consoles. No gimmicky easy bake oven consoles here

Sony Neighborhood Watch: Children
2007-08-12 15:37:35
Now here at 599USD we’ve been forced to place a select few dangerous threats on our Sony Neighborhood Watch list. In case your memory is poor, Mr. Shwarzeneeger, David Jaffe, and Rockstar are currently on the Watch. But today comes Sony’s greatest threat thus far: Children . That’s right. We can assume that Sony’s semi-poor performance thus far in the console race is due in part to the actions of children. Children, who buy inferior Nintendo products. Children, who prefer to play games with cute cuddley characters rather than gun-wielding tough guys and barely clothed females. They do not act by common sense, those ignorant, nonsensical children. Read this startling piece of news, if you will. That’s right: a misguided fool of a child wrote “Sony Sucks” all over the cases of glorious Sony products in a Toys “R” Us store. If I were the security there, I would have taken a revolver and shot him in the skull right then and ther

599USD Talks #5 The Console Wars And How The PS3 Will Be The Victor
2007-08-12 00:32:02
The Sony Nation has been on it’s toes of late. A Nintendo system is taking the top spot with gimmicky wrist flicks and Microsoft’s 360 just received a price drop, thereby poised to sell well this holiday season with overrated sci-fi shooters helping out a bit. To the untrained eye it would seem as though Sony will have lost the war by the years end. Fortunately, it couldn’t be farther from the truth. The PS3 might not rise to the top this holiday season, but it will certainly be the overall winner. The most innovative games ever created: early 2008 The Playstation 3 is a revolutionary system, and unfortunately, change is difficult for people to accept. By the end of this year, however, there will be many innovative games such as Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Lair, and Uncharted that will help prove the Playstation 3 name. Even by early next year, the PS3 will take the world by storm with games such as Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Grand Theft Auto 4. The worry that

Madden and Splinter Cell Question The PS3’s Might
2007-08-15 17:55:00
Greetings, Sony Nation. With shifter (admin) away, it is up to I, bobsnormal, to man the fort for a little while. And what have I brought back for you loyal Sony fans? A reason to fight. You could always read the unbiased bare-bones story here, but I think all of you will prefer to hear my take on this recent issue. Apparantly, a brawl over the power and integrity of everyone’s favorite system (PS3 of course) has been going on. And the powder keg of this fight? USA Today’s recent review of Madden 08. Apparantly there were several complaints about the PS3 version of this game, including framerate issues and other nonsense. The writers elaborating on their reason for saying this, but that really doesn’t matter. EA, the brave souls that they are, lashed back at this heinous accusation, saying In the case of the next-generation consoles, many publishers have been developing titles for the Xbox 360 for over three and a half years, while everyone who publishes now for the P

599USD Reviews #4 Bioshock
2007-08-20 10:41:59
Bioshock Liberal Anarchist Propaganda In Game Form For some unanswerable reason, people have been going nuts over this game. I’m convinced it’s just some liberal media outlet like the BBC or CNN over hyping the hell out of the game because from what I’ve seen it’s short, dark, and riddled with anti-American, anarchist, and atheist propaganda throughout. It’s absolutely disgusting. This game is as rusty as the logo Gameplay The controls aren’t half bad. It’s one of the best controls I’ve seen in a console FPS game, and the customizations you can do are pretty cool. Too bad the game is too dark to see anything to kill. 6/10 The game could have been much more fun if I could actually see anything Graphics I get the feeling that the graphics would be pretty good….if I could actually see them. Whoever designed this game must have either been on crack or has some weird ass night vision because I couldn’t see a damn thing in the

Motion-Sensitive Peripherals Coming To The PS2!
2007-08-19 11:18:00
Imagine this. You want to play a nice little game of virtual tennis. So you boot up your favorite Sony system (mine is currently the PS3, but you know, the PS2 gave me some good times these past 6 years), pop in the disk, and then reach for the controller. The buttons you press cause the serves and volleys and groundstrokes you see on screen. Pretty cool, right? But wait, good sir! There is a new revolution coming. In2Games has announced a line of games whose controllers look appropriate to the respective games or sports. With tennis you use a tennis racket, and with golf you wield a golfclub. Then you just mimic the motions of whatever you’re playing, and your motions tranfer into actions on-screen. Pretty nifty, eh? No one’s ever seen something like this before! Plans like this have been seen on the PS2 before, but hopefully this one will be coming soon. Right now In2Games has announced Realplay Golf, Realplay Pool, Realplay Bowling, Realplay Racing, Realplay Tennis, and

Master Chief is Fighting for the PS3

NPD Numbers Are In, And The PS3 Is In The Lead!

Wii 425 k Nintendo DS 405 k PlayStation 2 222k PlayStation Portable 214k Xbox 360 170k PlayStation 3 159k Game Boy Advance 87k Okay, not really, but these numbers are very good news for Sony fans. First, PS3 numbers skyrocketed, from 98,500 consoles to the dramatically great number you see here. Sure, some might spin this good news and say that the sole reason the PS3 sold more is because of the recent price drop. But people who say that are idiots. These people are buying their PS3’s for Blu-Ray and the AAA titles to come. The Wii might be selling roughly 2.5 times the number of PS3s, but one must remember that now the PS3 is exactly 2.5 times the price of the Wii! So really, they’re selling exactly the same when price is taken into account. And as far as the PS3/GBA war is going, the PS3 is currently winning! Woot! Now take a look at the software sales for July. 360 NCAA FOOTBALL 08 ELECTRONIC ARTS 1 397k PS2 GUITAR HERO ENCORE: ROCKS THE 80S ACTIVISION (CORP) 2 339k W

PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii to merge?
2007-08-21 15:14:45
Former bed buddy to Nintendo and President of Silicon Knights, Denis Dyack claims at this year’s Leipzig Convention, that the future of game consoles will rest in one universal game system. “Just like a DVD, just like a camera, everyone would know what those specs are,” said Dyack. “We’re starting to reach a perceptual threshold where the average consumer can not tell the difference between the next-generation consoles. I think this trend’s going to continue. “Next generation, you could see people agreeing on one platform. I think this model, if it occurs, will change everything.”   Mr. Dyack forgot to take his crazy pills Denis has been emotionally troubled since he broke it off Nintendo. He misses the company he used to work with(for nostalgic reasons only), but Nintendo just doesn’t put out graphics as well as the Xbox 360 does. Denis must also be troubled because the PS3 is so much more enticing to develop for then the other

Le Playstation Resistance Is Here To Combat Casual Gaming
2007-08-27 01:10:26
Although Sony did fairly well in the last NPD numbers(holding half of the top ten games), the increasing influence of these casual games can only be viewed as downright disturbing and a direct threat to the hardcore games we know and love. I haven’t been posting many stories myself in the last few days mainly because I’m distraught with anger at these casual games topping the charts. In this state I came up with an idea. Gamers everywhere can come together in a unified cause to end this new direction. I call it: In this new movement we shall combat those who wish death to the industry we love. We shall report all stories that threaten the destruction of the hardcore game. The time to act is now. Any later and our way of life could be gone forever. I am asking all those willing to fight for our freedom and to form a front against this heresy to join Le Playstation Resistance . All you have to is type out The Sony Pledge(below) in an email to my personal email address, shift

599USD Reviews #5 Heavenly Sword
2007-08-29 21:33:46
Heavenly Sword As Its Title Suggests, A Godsend For The PS3 Now a lot of you have been whining that the PS3 just doesn’t have any good games. You may even say that’s why 599USD hasn’t had a PS3 review until now. But now all of you complainers can shut your mouths, because the next killer app for the PS3 is here, and 599USD has the full review up and ready for your eyes to behold. Gameplay Simply perfect. You use the Triangle button to attack and then perform a counter attack, and the Square to just attack. I guess it makes more sense just to use the Triangle, but the Square button is there so that us seasoned gamers can learn not to use it. There are a myriad of combos to use, and just looking at that redhead’s perfect body as she twirls in the air is a sight to see. The areas are also vast and diverse. You’ll play through arenas, stadiums, coliseums, and everything in between. And you’ll have a blast button-mashing through the waves and waves of en

Armed Men Enter Woman’s House And Steal Her Playstation
2007-09-19 15:56:44
A woman was distraught today when two armed men entered her house in the wee hours of the morning. She woke up to find two men, both of whom were 6′1″, standing over her while she slept with guns pointed at her face. If I were the woman, the two things I would fear for if two tall men were standing over me while I was in bed is getting my face blown off and getting raped, but lucky for her, they only wanted her belongings. The men had a field day in rummaging through her house and taking what they wanted. Now while they probably took many things, the only item other than cash that was noted by the police was a Playstation 2 and some games. The robbers probably looked something like this. We at 599USD offer our sympathy to the victim of such a tragedy. Although we realize that many Nintendo fans are secretly desperate to play some of the glorious games on the legendary PS2, it’s a crime to steal and by doing so, you deprive another person of the privilege to enjoy the

Top 10 Reasons Why You Don’t Need A Generic Sci-Fi Shooter Later This Month
2007-09-16 20:28:35
Microsoft fanboys everywhere are celebrating the upcoming release of their most(and only) hyped game of the year-Halo 3. Like all the other games in this trilogy, Halo 3 stars the “Master Chief”(Not to be confused with the Master Chef, who is oh so much cooler) in a story that consists of shooting aliens and saving the world. Sounds exciting huh? Here at 599USD we want you to only purchase the best of games. So here is 10 reasons why you shouldn’t buy Halo 3. Master Chef > Master Chief 12. Bad news for the majority of Halo fans who thought Halo 2 multiplayer sucked the big one. 11. 599USD Reviews #7 Luigi’s Mansion
2007-09-13 21:09:47
Luigi’s Mansion A New Wii Title That Seems Like It Was Made For Last Generation Lately I’ve been touring the world. You know, getting a taste of other cultures, trying new foods. So last week, while in the Phillipines, I was in a Gamestoop (no, that isn’t spelled incorrectly. It’s the actual name of the store), and I saw this new Wii title I’ve never heard about before: Luigi’s Mansion. So I purchased it for nearly nothing, flew home, and popped it into my Wii (which I have yet to gain enjoyment from). After many monotonous, agonizing hours full of painful tears, I slid over to my computer, thanked God that the torture was over, and wrote this fantastically written review for all of you. Gameplay The gameplay basically consists of pointing Luigi’s vacuum at some ghosts, sucking them inside. There are some easy puzzles as well. So all in all, pretty crappy and simplistic controls. But we haven’t even gotten to the worst part yet! This Wi

A Good Way To Defeat Terrorism? Give them a Playstation
2007-09-08 00:34:40
Besides defending the hardcore gamer, we here at 599USD like to look at other less important issues that might effect all of our daily lives. One of these petty annoyances is terrorism. Even with the surge in Iraq really turning things around, and the freedom haters running back to their caves, islamo-fascism is still a real threat. The good news is there is finally hope. According to an article Saudi-run newspaper called Asharq Alawsat, we may have finally found a way to cure this Muslim extremism. In the article it speaks about how the Saudis rehabilitate jihadists(evil Muslims) who had commit terrorism. Although the terrorists are given many activities and entertainment to help reform them, only one thing seems to be truly changing these men. The Playstation. The Ministry of Interior has provided the grounds and facilities for the implementation of the rehabilitation program, which include football Pitches and swimming pools, among other recreational facilities. Additionally, there
