Wife Looks Very Distraught 2007-11-28 23:38:23 Wife is looking very distraught tonight. When I came home for a few minutes after work I could see that she hadn’t done anything all day (same as yesterday). She hadn’t done any dishes, hadn’t changed out of her pajamas, hadn’t prepared any food for herself or eaten anything, even though I had left a large bowl of stew in a plastic container on the top shelf of the fridge last night with a note on it that said “Heat for 4 minutes in microwave.” I even told her about it this morning because I knew she would be getting to “zombie” stage pretty soon and would likely neglect to fix anything to eat.

Wife Is “Fine” 2007-11-26 16:47:52 Wife told me that although she didn’t sleep last night, &ldquo

; which of course means that she isn’t doing fine.
Gearing Up for a Meltdown 2007-11-18 22:58:35 Wife is spending several hours a day at stores these days. She pawns the kids off onto anybody willing to watch them (me or my Fifth sister usually, but also sometimes our neighbors), then goes to buy a bunch of stuff. She returns some of it the next and exchanges it for something else. Every day she has something she needs to buy or return, ans she can spend literally hours window shopping.
Wife doesn’t see this behavior as selfish, but she is basically pawning off the children in order to buy and return stuff and window shop. She doesn’t seem to realize that for all her obsession with having an “eternal” family, she really just wants to live her own life and just come into our world occasionally for a short visit. It’s actually quite a selfish way to live but it doesn’t occur to her that she’s being selfish at all. She’s just having her “free time” as she puts it.

Gigglefest 2007-12-04 22:46:53 I took Wife to Daughter’s piano concert this evening. Son and Daughter were both at Piano Teacher’s house already so Wife and I were alone in the car on the way over. Wife kept laughing and the closer we got the more she laughed. When we were just a few blocks away she was laughing so hard she was almost crying. She wasn’t laughing loud, but hard. Weird. She just kept saying, “I’m just thinking something so funny” and things like that. She stopped in time for the house concert and all went well.
Later Daughter asked me why Mom looked mad. I explained that it was just from being so tired. Daughter played so well. She played 21 songs from memory. They were pretty short but I was very impressed.
Throat Noises Begin, Laughing Continues 2007-12-02 23:07:42 Wife continued to giggle every time I talked to her today. When I asked her was so funny she finally told me she was laughing at things she had done. I assume these are things that made sense at the time but seem foolish now, but that’s just my assumption. She also started making those weird throat noises this evening. Can’t stand it. But at least she seems more human today. She seems a bit more relaxed to maybe she will sleep tonight. I sure hope so.

Laughing Starts 2007-12-01 20:05:28 Today wife started laughing at her own private thoughts. This gives her the appearance of a truly crazy individual: eyes unable to look at any one thing for more than a few seconds, uncontrollable giggling to the point her body shakes.

Wife Looks Like Death 2007-11-29 21:41:24 Wife looks terrible. Her face is taught and pained. Her cheeks look a bit sunken in and she walks as if it hurts. At least she hasn’t reached the “mask” stage where her face (and her whole body really) becomes almost wooden and stiff. I made a vegetable soup (she always wants hot soups when she’s “sick”) but I had to put the soup and a spoon in her bowl and hand it to her. Otherwise she would let the soup sit there on the counter uneaten.

Wife Holds Head In Hands All Day Long 2008-02-17 22:36:17 Wife spent the entire day holding her head in her hands, looking like she just got shot with an arrow or something. It’s hard to stay home when she’s like this. Fortunately, I can take the kids to Fifth Sister’s at time like this.

Sits for Hours In One Place 2008-02-16 20:34:09 Wife spent the day sitting in one place for hours on end. It doesn’t matter if she’s sitting on her bed, sitting on the toilet, or sitting on the living room floor on the heater vents. She just sits there for hours with her eyes closed, face looking like she’s in pain.

Wife Calls Me at Work 2008-01-16 23:16:11 Wife called me at work today. She hasn’t called me at work for months. Now she will be calling me several times a day at work until this phase passes.
