Hunt What it’s about is this… there’s a theme every Saturday and if you want to play you post a picture that relates to that theme. There are rules, but not many. If you’re interested, click on the link above and check it, and the rules, out.
This week’s theme (it’s supposed to be tomorrow, but I went ahead and posted today) is long. I went with a long leash on this one.
Flood Waters 2007-12-06 15:01:51 It’s been all over the news.
Usually, when things like this happen, watching disaster coverage on TV that is, I always think… man… how terrible that is, over there… so far away. Now, it’s here, right here in Oregon and Washington, and it’s pretty surreal.
Personally, my house hasn’t been flooded out and, as far as I know, my family, both in Oregon and in Washington, is all safe, warm and dry. But even still… it’s terrible. National Guard trucks coming through all the time, ongoing announcements from disaster relief organizations, helicopters flying overhead, the Governor touring and then requesting that FEMA get into gear with supplying money and modules to replace buildings for schools and homes. It’s heartbreaking.
And yet… even though it is heartbreaking, it’s also amazing how people step up… lending a hand, giving money, supplying food. These kinds of things always have two sides to them&h Read more:Waters
A Photo Blog 2007-12-05 14:22:48 OK readers… I’ve gone and done something some of you will consider wacky. What is this crazy thing you ask? Simply… I’ve created another blog.
The reason I’ve gone and done this crazy thing is because I wanted to try something. I wanted to see if I could post a new photograph every day for a year, starting January 1, 2008. A sort of photographic record of a year in my life. I thought, he… this will be interesting to do, fun to look back on, and it will force me to get into the habit of taking my camera everywhere I go. In order to make it simple, keep it it’s own entity, I decided this little project needed a place of it’s own. Hence the creation of the new blog.
Every day, for a year, I’ll be posting a new picture. I’ve actually started posting already, one yesterday and one today, just using photos I’ve already taken, stuff I really like. There won’t be much commentary, if any, just a photograph. Read more:Photo

I was asked, not so nicely, by the aisle attendant to not take pictures, if that’s what I was doing. There were other people all around doing the same thing… but it seems I looked the most like a criminal phone camera picture taker. Ah well… I told him they didn’t turn out well anyway. Which is really pretty true. I mean, you can hardly see anything in this…. this little piece of contraband.

We went to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra last night. Wow. What a show. I’d seen them once before, but it appears that they just get better with time. This one was fantastic. Great music, lights and lasers flashing, smoke, fire, fireworks, and again… great music. If you’ve never seen them, do. It’s worth the price of admission.
PS… Con, it was great seeing you there, if only for a second or two. I love you sister of mine. Funny that with all of those people in the venue, we ran into each other. Fate I say. And again… I love you very much.

What can I say, I’m new to this gig… plus, in my defense, yesterday was my work holiday dinner and there were white elephant gifts to wrap and meatballs to make. Ah, the holidays, a time of utter sheer and utter madness.

Death Proof 2007-12-12 17:58:06
We watched Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof
last night. What did I think? I loved it.
It’s his dialogue that always gets me. I love how the guy, meaning Tarantino, writes. It’s snappy, and hip, flowing right off the screen with such great natural ease. Really good stuff.
The movie actually starts off a bit slow, and I kept wondering, when is something going to happen. After all, it’s a movie about a serial killer, played by Kurt Russell, and when a person watches a movie about a serial killer you automatically assume there’s going to be some killing. Especially with Tarantino, who loves a good bloody scene. But this didn’t have that for quite awhile and I kept wondering, when is it coming? It does, eventually, but before that I really just got into listening to the exchanges between the characters and was caught up. The writing, superb.
The best part of the film, and worth the wait even if you don’t get into the dialogue like I did,

Another Great Weekend 2007-12-09 20:46:04 We had another really great weekend. Yesterday, as you can tell by the pictures in the posts before this one, we ventured out to Saturday Market, Delta Park, Marine Drive, and along Waterfront Park. We also made a stop at IKEA for a chair for our office, but that’s not very exciting. We had a great day. Not to mention that we also got a lot of Christmas shopping done. We are almost there. It’s a great feeling.
Today we hung out at home and did a bit of cleaning. Also, Mom and Don stopped by for a couple of hours, drank some chai, ate some lunch, chatted it up, and put up with our hyper dog. It was really good to see them and really lovely to spend some time with them.
After they took off for home we settled in for a movie. This afternoons selection? Dreamgirls. We liked it. Jennifer Hudson was really good, no wonder she won the academy award.
Now… off to sort recycling so we can take it in next Saturday. There’s a lot of it. How does Read more:Great
