We, Stan, Stacia and I, went out Salmon fishing today. We found our spot, sunk our anchor, dropped our line, and waited. We spent a few hours out there, and at the end of the day we left without a fish. But really, who cares. We had a great time. Nothing like being on the water, chatting, enjoying an AM snack, chugging down some home made hot cocoa, and just watching the birds catch fish, and Ted go by. Yes, we saw Ted and Cindy as they left on their big adventure out to sea and warmer waters south. It was great to see them heading out. As for us… we may try again. And those fish… well…. they had best be ready! AM snack anyone?

Our Last Day In Lancaster was spent hanging out at Mary and Martin’s place, taking a jaunt to the Cornish Bakery for a couple of pasties and Cafe Nero for some chai, packing, grocery shopping with Mary, going to the University to pick up a couple of t-shirts, and going to dinner at The Meeting House to celebrate a great vacation and a wonderful visit with the kids.
We had a great time in England and Spain and are already thinking about where we want to venture to on our next trip over. Luckily we won’t have to wait too long to see the kids again as we’re going to meet them in New Orleans in January which we’ll follow with a week long visit here in Portland.
As for Lancaster and our trip. We loved Mary and Martin’s house and the town. It’s nice to feel good about where they are, having now had the chance to see it for ourselves. I know that Karen, especially, feels that. It’s good to know they&rs
Back In Lancaster 2007-09-17 12:29:18 It’s Monday, September 17, and we are back in Lancaster
. I’ve just done a massive update to my page here with pictures from our sojourn to Barcelona. I’ve not done a very good job in that they appear in reverse. If you want to view things in order, you have to scroll down to where they start and the scroll up.
Today we slept in, recovering from our nights out on the Spanish town, and have just sort of hung out here at Mary and Martin’s house. It’s been quiet and nice. A good way to spend one’s birthday.
Since I didn’t log onto this thing yesterday when we got back from Spain and it was Syd’s birthday, I’d like to say a very happy, though belated, birthday to you Syd. Hope you had a fantastic day! Much love to you.

We had an excellent time in Spain. Really excellent. Martin was a spectacular tour guide, so thanks Martin for showing us around, for knowing at least a few words in Spanish, for arranging our place to stay, and for teaching us how to say grathias (the catalonian way to say gracias… we could never quite get it, it always made us laugh). We packed so much into a short 4 day, three night stay. We were there only two full days and it feels like we got to see so much. From the old Roman downtown area, to the Gaudi buildings, the Picasso museum, the Miro museum, the port, the park, and some fine cafes. We loved attempting to interact with people in little shops, trying to order pastries, tapas, gelatta, and coffees. The people of Barcelona were warm, friendly, and incredibly patient with us. We learned to hang like the locals by having

Watched some football, worked on their computer, had some great conversation, and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Thanks guys! Sunday we went grocery shopping and while we were out we picked up a couple of things for Weston
. One, the new collar he’s sporting in this photo, and also some new toys. One of those was this moving Halloween decoration. It’s not meant to be a dog toy, but he sure had some fun with it.

25 songs on the song spot 2007-09-28 21:57:06 I just updated the song spot on the right of my page. There are actually 25 songs
there for your perusal. It’s simple really, just hit the fast forward button to move to the next song. You can listen to a song all the way through, or browse until you find one you like better. Check it out, and enjoy.
As for this kid… Karen is in making pad thai right now, and man, does it smell good. I think I’ll go in and find out what magic is happening in the kitchen. Yum.

This last weekend, and Monday and Tuesday, I attended a conference in Southern Oregon. Medford, to be exact. The reason I went down on Saturday, instead of the usual Sunday evening President’s reception kick off bash, was because I golfed in the annual tournament. This picture was taken, by my compadre, Stacia, while we were out on the course. Her phone takes great pictures. We did well, if you compare us to our last years and the year before’s scores. If you compare us to the rest of the teams, we came in… last. No worries though, we always do. I’m never upset about this. I mean really, I’m not even a real golfer. I probably golf two or three times a year, including this tournament. Stacia carried the team this year, and thank goodness for her. She amassed half of our needed drives. My best accomplishment? I out drove the guys, there were two, on our team. Yeah m

Be In It 2007-10-11 11:56:40
This last weekend, while Karen and I were driving over to the beach, we listened to the new Melissa Etheridge CD, The Awakening. In one word… inspiring.
We drove along, listening, and after each song we talked about it… the message, the depth, the musicality, her voice. I was inspired. This is a woman who has something to say, who knows who she is, and who gets what life is really about.
I started thinking about what that means… getting life. To me I guess it means seeing in. I picture it as either skipping rocks on the pond, or stepping into it and exploring. You’re either in it, or you’re looking. You either jump in gleefully with both feet, not always knowing what’s in there, but you do it anyway… or you stand on the shore, looking out… wondering and afraid. Believe me, stepping in isn’t always easy… but when you do, when you are afraid but go in anyway, you conquer those fears.
As for me, I ‘d rather be in it. I’d rather be splashing around,

Back to Busy-ness
I am amused and feeling a sense of happy contentment. It’s Friday night, and we have no plans. I think to myself… what a luxury. We seem to be busy all the time. And I want to know, when did that happen? When did busy become the way of life? I’m scratching my head here.
Everyone is rushing. Have to get to the next meeting, the next phone call, the next dinner, the next movie, the next chore around the house. We have calendars on desks, in phones, on computers, in hand held devices. And most of those, well the electronic ones anyway, have alarms. Not only do we constantly have to write everything down, we have to audibly remind ourselves that we wrote it down.
I know, sitting here right now, there are things I should, or could, or am suppo Read more:Revisited
Two Years This Month 2007-10-18 20:06:17 I just realized, today, that it was October. Yeah, yeah… I know. It’s been October for 18 days now. I’m a bit slow. But, what I realized, when I realized it was October, was that I’ve been at this blogging thing for a couple of years now.
It’s been an interesting road. Yes it has. My first entries were made at livejournal, and were later exported out to or imported into, whatever your preference, the blog I created at blogger. I was actually with blogger for quite some time until finally, this year, I moved everything, including the kitchen sink, over here to Wordpress. Luckily, during all those moves, I didn’t lose a single entry or a single picture. Amazing really. And it’s all here, including my first import from livejournal. In honor of that I’m going to re-post that import here. If you aren’t interested in reading any of them, no worries, but trust me, they still make for a pretty good read.
