, had a successful breast cancer surgery last Friday. According to ABCnews.com reports, Roberts is doing well but won’t have the results of her tests for awhile. Fortunately for Roberts, she caught the breast cancer early.

For those of you less familiar with the illness, Wikipedia defines bulimia as “an eating disorder. It is a psychological condition in which the subject engages in recurrent binge eating followed by intentional purging. This purging is done in order to compensate for the excessive intake of food, usually to prevent weight gain. Purging can take the form of vomiting; inappropriate use of laxatives, enemas, diuretics or other medication; or excessive physical exercise.”

is stepping up her celebrity game by taking an acting role in the upcoming film, “No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency”. Ms. Scott will play a private investigator named Precious Ramotswe in her first ever starring role. The TV movie, “No. 1..” is based off the bestselling book by Alexander McCall Smith.
Shot in Botswana, Africa, the movie promises to entertain with cheating husband, insurance fraud, a kidnapping and even witchcraft cases to solve. Anika Noni Rose will play her assistant, Mma Makutsi, and handsome Idris Elba from “The Wire” & “Daddy’s Little Girls” will also co-star. Jill Scott is keeping busy. Occasionally, there are a couple of inventions that change life forever – like the radio, TV, and the computer. And in the modern day, I’m thankful for inventions like caller ID, TiVO and the internet. Well, there is another fabulous invention that I’m thanking the stars for today – Zafu.com.
If you haven’t heard, Zafu.com is the next best thing to a personal shopper. The site will take your measurements, ask you a couple of questions, and vavoom, out pops a list of places to get jeans that fit. And for an LA girl like me – having jeans that fit is a must-have, non-negotiable, all-season wardrobe item. I tried out the site personally and was extremely impressed. I entered in all my information and had 5 pages full of jeans to chose from in all different price ranges. And ladies, I’m tall so the Zafu god smiled on me and found jeans for me. Cindy Meston, a professor of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin recently conducted a survey to find out why women and men have sex. (25) IS pregnant - 4 months that is. Although highly speculated, she confirmed her pregnancy status in recent interviews with OK! and ABC News’ Diane Sawyer. The father is boyfriend, Joel Madden (28) of band, Good Charlotte. Let’s just say we weren’t surprised. If going to jail isn’t dramatic enough, being in jail pregnant is even more drama!!!

Who doesn’t want to be thinner or maintain their current weight? Isn’t that the common struggle for American women? RealSimple.com offers helpful tips in a recent article entitled, “The Secrets of Thin People: How they get there, how they stay there.” Many of them are somewhat common sense but others were new to me.
Thin people favor bulky foods.
Most of know that we need to eat more fruits and vegetables. And many of us figured that they were good for us and didn’t contain a ton of calories. But did you know that “foods with a high water content — fruits, vegetables, water-based soups and stews, and cooked whole grains — are low in calories but satiating. Most also contain lots of fiber (an apple has three grams; one cup of cooked barley has six), which fills you up.” So, eat a small salad before you main meal and you’ll probably find yourself eating less.

’s first husband, is seeking to publish a tell-all book about his 11-month marriage to Jennifer.
In a FoxNews.com/AP report, he says “’This is about my life, coming here from Cuba and falling in love with Jennifer,’ Noa said.”
However, Jennifer appears to believe otherwise. She filed a Superior Court breach of contract suit nine months ago and sought arbitration. She also got a restraining order which stopped Noa from publishing intimate details of their sex life. The ghostwritten book allegedly tells stories about her extramarital affairs including one with current husband, Marc Anthony.
Ms. Lopez appears to have won the first round. The fight over the book will now take place in private arbitration. And Jennifer was awarded $545,000 in damages according to The WashingtonPost.com.

For those of us lucky in love, I came across an article on CNN (courtesy of Oprah.com) that can help us prepare for marriage. The story called “Questions to Ask Before Getting Married
” reminds us of the important things to consider before taking the leap of faith. Too often, we’re blinded by love and infatuation that we fail to truly examine our long-term compatibility. It is my hope that these questions will help us prevent some divorces as well as bring us closer to our honeys! (And if you are already married, its not too late to discuss these important topics either.)

Today, I received a scoop from Daily Candy (one of the best newsletters and sites for fashion, entertainment, etc.) about a designer fashion site, Shopbop.com that is sure to please the “fabulous” shopper in all of us. If you haven’t heard of Kat De Luna, it is time to take notice. The US-born, Dominican singer is making her way up the charts with her hit single, “Whine Up.” The song, featuring Elephant Man, is currently number 28 on the Billboard Top 100 and has started a new dance craze. A dancehall hit, the song reflects her Caribbean heritage and influence from her Jamaican friends. This latina is the first Dominican crossover artist!
Kat is no stranger to music. Her parents, especially her father, are good singers and love music but didn’t have the financial resources to explore their talent. Born in the Bronx, her family moved back to the Dominican Republic when she was very young. She entered several singing contests, even at age 3 and won.

Hill. The couple had a beautiful baby girl today. Their new bundle of joy, Lael Rose Hill, weighs 8 lbs. 6 ozs. People magazine reports that the mother and daughter at doing fine. This is the second child for songstress, Tamia and NBA star, Grant Hill. Hill says, “Lael looks like Myla,” their older daughter.

Besides being Eddie Murphy’s baby mama, Caramel Bella Melanie
B is now Mrs. Stephen Belafonte (a film producer). According to several sources, Mel B got married in a quiet and secret wedding in Las Vegas this past June. The $599 nuptials were very low-key and the Mrs. didn’t even wear a wedding dress.
Stuff.co.nz (New Zealand) reports that Mel said: “Stephen and I have known each other for seven years. We wanted to make a commitment. We wanted it to be private and have a big wedding with our families later in the year.”
The couple is currently vacationing at the Nikki Beach Club in Miami. Mini-honeymoon maybe? This is Melanie’s second marriage.

Okay ladies. As women we all have one thing in common. Besides our love of shoes, most of us want to stay looking young no matter what age we are. We all hope to look as youthful as Halle Berry at 41. A recent article on CNN.com (taken from Oprah.com) gives us five helpful hints in this arena.
First of all, make a visit to your dermatologist. Although many of us don’t have fair skin, we still must be careful not to overdo the sun exposure. And more importantly, we should all wear sunscreen (see my earlier post about skincare in the sun) and keep an eye on our skin.
Secondly, we need to make a trip to a good hairstylist. According to the article, highlights can help your hair look fuller. A haircut can also help your face look firmer by having the hair fall a few inches below the chin. There are tons of suggestions here. Caramel Bella and successful actress Angela Bassett and actor-husband Courtney B. Vance have put their 5,000 square foot Los Angeles estate on the market. The couple has lived in the home ever since they got married ten years ago. Mrs. “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” is moving out of her gated, close to $6 million, Fremont Place home in favor of a house zoned for better public schools.
