How to win trading fixed odds? 2007-07-14 01:30:06 I thought today that I should start posting some videos of me trading the fixed odds of the horse racing markets in Betfair. Although I have already shown how it is done, I believe it's time to have a daily update of some interesting trades.
So, from now on and given I am in the right mood, you will find at least one video each day, showing a trading tutorial video, either profitable or not. Back when I was learning the art , I found much more useful videos the ones that the trader actually had lost! However,...

Tutorial: Trading Charts in Betfair 2007-06-18 08:00:00 Using as a reference the races taking place in Ascot these days, we will examine the fixed odds' charts regarding technical analysis, which is widely spread in the financial markets.
Cockney Rebel was the favorite in the 3.45 race at odds of 2.20. 10
minutes before the start of the race the chart was like this:
The volume traded was about 2,000,000€ (yes, million) and judging by
the chart, we could conclude that we would witness an accelaration of
the downtrend at 2.20, where the blue lines collude, or violent reverse
action. We weren't sure and we would do...

Sports Betting Strategy Information 2007-04-23 19:46:18 My strategy in sports betting is based on an Excel spreadsheet. I add the games in daily basis and I update the results during the day...
In that way, the spreadsheet keeps tracking of my performance, adjusts my bankroll and calculates my stake size for each game. According to some filters I have applied, the spreadsheet tells me what to back and what to lay and for how much.
I have created my sheet in that way, so I can keep track of my performance, whether I would flat bet, or in case I used the Kelly criterion. Since December,...

What is Trading? 2007-04-03 22:38:38 Trading, or in other words buying low and selling high! The object that changes owner can be anything. From a share, a dividend or a property to the price of gold, oil or the exchange rate of currencies. WHAT is traded is indeed of no importance, while the PRICE is all that matters. The price after all is the thing that will tell in the end if the trade was a successful one.
Besides, trading has been known to mankind since ancient times. For example, if person A buys 1kg potatoes from person B at 1$/kg and one week later...

Requirements for Professional Gambling 2007-04-03 22:34:11 So, what are the requirements of someone willing to try this profession as a career choice?

What is Professional Gambling? 2007-04-03 22:26:24 Is it ever possible to consider gambling as a profession, one may ask. What kind of profession would that be since the majority considers it a (luxurious?) hobby?
Gambling
for sure is one of the most disreputed hobbies, if not the worst, and this is because of the many examples of people driven to economical disaster, which most of the times lead to even worse consequences. The immediate impact is usually behavior's change, psychological pressure, loss of time's feel (and space as well), interest's loss for anything else and results to social living.
However, while this may sound strange,...

Vacations! 2007-08-05 01:03:01 Ok, now that's an unknown word for most online investors, being stock traders, sport traders, bettors, poker players and any sort of gamblers. We are here to win, win big and win constantly. Who needs vacations, right? You see, a lot of people would argue that there is more to life than just... well, money and success. I don't have the time and will right now to elaborate on the subject and share my personal view with you, so let's just say that I'll most probably be on holidays during next week so I can't guarantee any daily updates or...

No Trading Profits for Friday 2007-08-04 01:25:57 It was a quiet day yesterday and frankly I looked into poker than trading during the evening. There was more suspense, more excitement, more of everything. The opportunities were still there regarding trading, no argument here. It gets to a point though, when you wait for what it seems like an eternity to spot a scalping trigger and doing nothing in the meantime. So, poker won me (index.php?option=com_content task=view

Odds Drift Like Crazy 2007-08-03 02:21:54 You have spotted a horse race where you expect the favorite's fixed odds to drift hugely. You check the chart, you read the latest news, you examine the depth of market and they are all pointing into the same direction. The odds will DEFINATELY drift. So you lay.
Now, that was the easy part, the hard part is WHEN to back...

EUR185 Trading Profits after Holidays 2007-08-10 20:51:27 In the beginning, it looked like a scary day the first day after my vacations, but fortunately I made some good trades and in the end I closed the day in the green. However, sports betting lost for another day but still in the expected zone. Perhaps I'll post an update soon with my betting's performance, so that we can take a closer look to the performance graph.
Here is the detailed screenshot...

Now, where were we? 2007-08-10 02:51:51 Vacations are over and I have just turned on my desktop computer. I'm trading at the moment and I'll post an update tomorrow morning with my performance (doesn't look promising up to now) but I thought to inform you that I'm back! During this week things looked like this:
I had traded only one race in Sunday, I guess just for the record. Sports betting won some back this week and you can check this month's balance on the right upper corner of the site.
So, I'm back in business after a very short period of rest. Besides, who...
Losing Big, Recovering and Winning EUR500 2007-08-13 16:25:42 What a day! It should be named the day almost every favorite's odds drifted hugely! I mean going from 3.00 to 7.00, from 2.50 to 6.0 and even higher! Those were plenty of chances to make some serious profits or lose big. Well, I couldn't resist the temptation and put myself on a test whether I could turn it around or not. Just kidding, I just happened to lose EUR550 in the fifth race I traded and I was facing a devastating day. However I managed to take it all back and win more!
Let's see the race I...

Video: Making EUR53 by Scalping Before the Race Starts 2007-08-13 00:54:42 Today in Wolverhampton Racecourse I traded Tugalu horse and made EUR53. The odds didn't drift nor steam but rather hovered around 4.50. Yet, there were some nice scalping opportunities which could be exploited in order to make money before the horse race even went off! Here's the video capture of my trading moves made with Bet Angel Professional (http://www.betangel.com/cmd.php?af=484230):

Update of my Sports Betting Strategy 2007-08-12 01:46:26 Lately my sports betting strategy has encountered a bad drawdown and has lost more than 20% of the profits. While it still remains profitable, that drawdown has aroused some concerns and needs to be re-evaluated. Let's see some interesting statistics:
Flat betting plan applied: EUR500 fixed stake
Total turnover: EUR2,587,000
ROI (yield): 2.98%
Total Bets: 5,174
Database's games: 8,650
The sample is quite large for trustworthy conclusions and here are some more useful calculations (read how to do them yourself here (index.php?option=com_content task=view% significance level): 14.92
Things do look a bit rough at the moment but...
