XPSL Event #5
2006-12-14 19:07:30
Jean, NV Jean, Nevada was home to final event of the XPSL 2006 season. The location was not exactly as advertised but it was close enough to Las Vegas. The venue consisted of 4 fields with lots of loose dirt and rocks. All 4 lined up in a large square with the 2 rows of vendor booths running down the middle. Not exactly ideal conditions but it was the last event and there were casinos, bars and the Las Vegas strip just 25 minutes away. I was down to have a good time at all costs! THURSDAY: Field Walk for Open and Novice teams As usual, the fields were not completed but we had to make due, since daylight was going quick. We walked all 4 fields in about 3 hours or so. The XPSL brought in lights to help out for the upcoming weekend but the temperature at night was below 30 degrees. FRIDAY: Prelims for Open and Novice teams There seemed to be a few more teams in the Open and Novice division this time around. This was probably due to it being the last event of the season or the close proxim

XPSL Event #3
2006-08-09 17:13:00
Bakersfield, CA The Kern County Fairgrounds was home to the third XPSL event of 2006. This has to be the best venue so far this season. The venue consisted of 4 grass fields lined up in a large square area with plenty of room for spectators and bleachers. The vendor booths, which seemed to be less than usual, lined down one side of the fields with the player padocks on the opposite side. The heat throughout the weekend was a factor but seemed to be at least 10 degrees cooler than the previous week according to some of the locals. THURSDAY: Field Walk for Open and Novice teams As usual, the fields are not complete by 1pm like the league advertises. The XPSL field wasn’t complete by sunset and it was our first field that we played on Friday. This is probably are only gripe at this event but what are you gonna do. FRIDAY: Prelims for Open and Novice teams There seemed to be a lesser showing in the Open and Novice division than usual, but the performance of the teams was just the sa

Building your roster (part two)
2006-05-16 15:52:42
Develop a farm team Training a farm team is definately one way to build your teams roster. This is the formula that many teams use to keep their roster as strong as possible. It keeps your current players on their toes and the younger players hungry to earn a starting spot. This can be an ideal situation but it’s not for everyone. We started off throwing a rookie team together with players from our local field and shortly after, we picked it a part and took the two senior players to play on our 7-man squad. The farm team had to rebuild and really started to come into its own. They practiced hard, started gelling as a team and really gave us a run for our money at practice. People really started to take notice at this new squad and we felt it would be best to leave it alone and not take anymore players from our farm team. Unfortunately, our organization was not ready to field two squads properly and our farm team was not given the guidance and support they were looking for. After

Building your roster (part one)
2006-05-10 19:14:47
Picking the right players Stay away from the superstar player with the huge ego. This is one thing that I know that can destroy a team. This is something that we haven’t really had to deal with. We look for a certain type of player that will mesh more with what we have, instead of making waves. That is actually more important to our team than the actual skill of the player. I’ve witnessed good players from all over being thrown together to create this super squad to only have it back fire. 7 players with the “What’s in it for me?” attitude really gets you nowhere. These types of players really don’t have any team loyalty and will be gone when they get their next “Bigger and Better” deal. It’s really only a short term solution to your roster and will eventually be your down fall. I’ve been lucky enough to be still playing with 5 of our original core team members on a 7-man squad. 3 of the 5 (including myself) starting playing

XPSL Affiliate by Karnage Paintball
2006-04-24 12:17:01
The XPSL affiliate 7 man tournament This was the most affordable affiliate tournament that we have played. The cost was $250.00 per team which included entry and air per team. This was a field paint only event and Karnage Tear tournament grade paint prices were $35.00 per case pre order and $40.00 per case the day of the event. All teams were there to earn 25 affiliate points for the 2006 XPSL season. Originally scheduled to be held at Davis Paintball field in Davis, CA, it was moved due to weather/field conditions to Midway Paintball Extreme in Vacaville, CA. Thanks goes out to Jeff from Midway for allowing the event to be held at such a short notice. The Brotherhood Paintball Team came out to see where we stacked against some of the local XPSL teams. Havng limited practice due to weather and recruiting 3 new players, we didn’t know what to expect. We went undefeated in the prelims and dropping our first and only game in the finals against Team CPS (California Paintball Supply).

XPSL Event #4 2007
2007-09-19 19:08:55
The Xtreme Paintball Sports League (XPSL) held Event #4 in Fresno, California at The Regional Sports Park. The all grass venue gave way to some hot paintball action throughout the weekend to equally match the weather. THURSDAY: Field Walk Most of us traveling from Nor*Cal into the Central Valley, the weather was a huge contrast. We normally play in low to mid 80’s heat and on Thursday it was in the high 90’s, setting the tone for the weekend. The field setups were up on time for all the teams to walk. Unfortunately, all the teams were caught off guard with the Sports Park closing its doors at 6:30pm. We spent extra time on JT and XPSL, as most of our games were on those two fields. FRIDAY: Prelims for Novice and Intermediate teams In the Novice Division, 14 teams registered to compete. After the preliminary rounds, only the “Elite Eight” were able to advance for Sunday’s semi finals. The Brotherhood made the “Sunday Club” along with our fellow Nor*Cal ballers, G4H and X-B

Capital Edge Paintball Park

I dropped by Capital Edge Paintball Park today for their opening day and left every impressed with the fields. They have 2 astro turf fields, 2 grass fields in the works and a huge hyper ball field. Dave Bains and family did a great job. This is going to be the hottest field in the Sacramento area. Capital Edge Paintball Park website Pics of Capital Edge Paintball Park

The team is rocking brand new Ego 8s for 2008. They are a lot lighter and have less kick than earlier models. So far, we haven’t been disappointed! These things MOW! Thanks to DONUT for the trigger set up.
