Cpl. Jeremy David Allbaugh lived a short life. But, he was immortalized recently in acrylics by a Lance Cpl. Jamieson who painted a mural in his honor.
“I feel sad because it is for him, but it makes me happy because I can still do something for him,” said Lance Cpl. Jamieson. “I thought about it during the ceremony in the chapel. I looked up at the stained glass windows and I thought ‘I should do something like that’”.
Along with help from family, a fellow Marine and a Morale, Wefare and Recreation manager, Jamieson had the paint and tools needed.
“I would paint eight or nine hours in the gym and time would fly by,” Jamieson said.

Salute! 2007-10-03 23:34:08 Vet cuts down Mexican flag flying above U.S. banner
After hearing a Reno bar was flying a Mexican flag above a U.S. flag, an angered U.S. Army veteran took matters into his own hands, drove to the site and cut down the banners in front of a stunned group of Hispanic patrons.
Reno television station KRNV, which was there to document Jim Broussard’s act of defiance, noted the U.S. code prohibits raising the flag of any other nations above Old Glory.
Broussard pulled up in his truck to the Cantina El Jaripeo near downtown Reno yesterday, cut the rope that anchored the flags and pulled them down from a makeshift flagpole. Continued

North Korea (MNN) ? The number of North Koreans who are imprisoned in concentration camps is much greater than previously assumed.
“It is not inconceivable that the number of prisoners has passed the one million mark,” reports Simon, director of Open Doors in North Korea. “Many camps are so large that they are not recognized as camps on satellite photos. They consist of entire villages.” For security reasons, Simon doesn’t reveal how the research was done. “There are many lives at stake,” he stated.
The eight prison camps for political prisoners probably contain between half a million and a million people. In addition, hundreds of thousands of North Koreans are made to work every day in 30 other camps. This is reported by Open Doors on the basis of research conducted inside the country.

Please someone clue me in. How does Christmas and Halloween (a secular holiday BTW) offend muslim students? Will they become damaged beyond repair if they see Christmas or Halloween decorations. Will Santa give them nightmares? Jews do not celebrate Christmas or eat pork and has anyone heard them complaining? No.

PESHAWAR, Pakistan - A burqa-clad woman blew herself up and killed at least 15 people Monday at a crowded police checkpoint in northwestern Pakistan, police said. It was believed to be the first time a female suicide bomber has struck inside the country.
The bombing, which injured 22 others, apparently was in a rickshaw that was being examined at a police checkpoint around 8:25 a.m. local time in the town of Bannu, said police officer Habib Khan.

A federal panel yesterday urged the State Department to shut down a Saudi government-supported private school in Northern Virginia unless it can prove it is not teaching religious intolerance.
In a report released yesterday, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom criticized what it called the promotion of religious extremism in Saudi-run schools around the world, including in the kingdom. It leveled particular criticism at the Islamic Saudi Academy, which operates two campuses in Fairfax County, expressing “significant concerns” that the school is promoting a brand of religious intolerance that could prove a danger to the United States.

(CBS) BALTIMORE, Md. A tanker truck carrying 7,100 gallons of diesel fuel was taken at gunpoint from a city gas station early Friday, authorities said.
The driver of the tanker was fueling the tractor-trailer about 5 a.m. when a man in a blue jumpsuit confronted him with a semiautomatic handgun, police spokesman Clifford Sterling said.
He forced the driver out of the truck and took off.
The truck’s Maryland license plate is 436-F45 and the tanker has Maine license plate 126-8185. Source.
